The way Malfoy once again helped himself to adjust Harry’s robes made a thrill run down his spine, enough for him to wonder if Malfoy didn’t think he deserved this, too. The smugness of the thought, however, dissipated the moment Harry realised this was, perhaps, a pattern.
Harry tightened his grip around Malfoy’s hair, all but tugging him off of him.
“No,” Harry cussed with a gasp, a correction rather than a rejection.
He pushed himself off of the door in an attempt to redirect Malfoy backwards, having thought about this too much for this to be enough, just on the verge of being too little, too juvenile. “Grow up and **** me.”

The demand took Draco by aback, having thought about actually ****ing Potter enough that he had to take a moment to recalibrate and make sure that he had actually heard him correctly. He still wasn’t quite sure what this meant for either of them, unsure just how much of it was due the felix in his system, but he took comfort in the fact that Potter knew of his addiction and could just stay away from him.
“Fine” was all he could really say, not keen to come off as too eager, but he could tell from the look on Potter’s face that he wanted this as badly as Draco did.
He took a tighter hold of Potter’s waist and pushed him against the counter with the sink instead, as he leant down to kiss him again, biting down on Potter’s bottom lip before stepping away just enough to turn Potter around, leaving him standing directly behind him.

Incredibly pleased, Harry couldn’t help but grin, feeling a surge of adrenaline at the roughness of being repositioned.
Bracing himself against the counter, the edge of it digging into his thighs, Harry brazenly stared at Malfoy’s reflection in the mirror. Malfoy’s almost bored reply had sent a thrill down Harry’s spine, such a welcomed change, but there was no denying how his touches and expression betrayed him as anything but. Dishevelled and lips bruised by the kiss, Malfoy, who otherwise looked ghostly pale at best, looked wrecked and alive.
It made Harry’s stomach swoop, enough self-awareness to know this was bound to become an issue, all-consuming within a matter of minutes.

Despite how desperately Draco tried to stop himself from getting his hopes up, he couldn’t deny the thrill that ran through him when he had been asked to appear at yet another party at the ministry. He hadn’t even really cared what they were celebrating, still entirely unsure if he was being completely honest, but he hoped that he would run into Potter.
As much as he hated to admit it, he found that his little back and forth with Potter had added some excitement to his life, which had honestly grown rather dull the last couple of years.
Draco did love his job and had come further than he had ever thought was going to be possible for him, but working so hard to be on the straight and narrow had honestly taken its toll of him. In that way, it felt exciting to finally get to stop putting a bond on himself and just push Potter around for a bit, allowing them both to let loose.
Half an hour into the event and the head of practical healing and one of the heavy hitters in the department of mysteries had roped Draco into a conversation, which he had very little interest in, but he was playing nice and making polite small talk nevertheless.

Historically, Harry had exhibited more patience before approaching Malfoy at these events. Besides letting the crowd settle around them, it removed some of the inevitable satisfaction Malfoy was bound to feel whenever Harry appeared too eager.
It was, however, hard to avoid the fact that the memory of Malfoy pushing against him had filled Harry’s every waking moment, and at that point, an odd hour or two difference seemed trivial at best.
“Malfoy,” Harry called from some distance away, really not interested in getting himself caught in the orbit of that conversation, particularly finding the old Keeper terrible company.
Regardless, Harry lifted his hand in an apologetic gesture towards the two others, a fake display of goodwill and a poor attempt at looking remorseful. He offered them a smile, too.

The sound of Potter’s voice rang through the crowd, almost as if it was spoken directly into Draco’s ear, knowing that he would never be able to miss the sound of that voice.
Part of Draco was thrilled, though he knew very little of that showed on his face, finding Potter to be the most exciting part of his life lately, something he knew was endlessly sad, however, another part of him was keen to show Potter just how little he cared about what the hell ever they had going on.
“Potter!” Draco exclaimed, wanting to be absolutely certain that his conversation partners would notice him as well.
“Come join on, McMillan was just raising an issue that I am sure you would love to weigh in on.”

Harry’s expression wavered at the invitation to join the conversation. He wasn’t interested in talking to McMillan; he was barely interested in talking with Malfoy beyond exchanging a few choked words.
It was immediately recognizable to him as a petty move on Malfoy’s part. To Harry, there was no conceivable way in which this was a rejection, purely a spiteful display of his influence. Indeed feeling the tug of Malfoy’s felix felicis deep in the back of his throat, Harry reluctantly approached, as if tugged on by a collar.
By the time he was within a more civilised speaking distance, he had once again dragged a polite smile to his lips, though his attention kept favouring Malfoy. “I would certainly love to try.”

There was something quite intoxicating in seeing Potter’s reluctance in joining them melt away, feeling a thrill in seeing the felix felicis do what it was supposed to do.
It took everything in Draco not to grin outright, instead feeling just the slightest pull at the corner of his mouth, but otherwise kept his neutral facial expression. He figured that if they were going to be sleeping together, which he was pretty sure was Potter’s angle, he could have his fun too.
“McMillan was wondering what exactly the training procedure is for new aurors as, according to him, he finds a lot of the new request lacking,” Draco explained, having found the conversation painfully dull while actually having it, and only finding even the slightest amount of joy in it because he knew it had to annoy Potter.

Harry wanted to roll his eyes at the question, not because it was a bad one, but because it was so far from what he had expected to spend his time doing.
Taking a slight step away from the circle of their conversation, Harry interjected a waiter passing by with a tray of filled wine glasses. Despite not being his drink of choice, Harry accepted a glass of red, immediately too bored by the conversation to navigate it this sober.
“Recruits just aren’t what they used to be,” he said, an amicable non-answer, as turned his attention back towards the others. “They don’t remember the wars, so they have no skin in the game.”
There was a placid smile on Harry’s lips, but when his glass obscured it as he took a drink, Harry sent Malfoy a meanspirited little glance, having not forgotten how he had spent the war.

Draco felt the dig towards him but mostly in the way that felix immediately went in to soothe the repercussions of that comment. Being aware of it, Draco knew that Potter had to feel it too, the effects of felix felicis being so painfully obvious once you knew what to search for.
“Well, maybe that’s for the better,” Baker interjected, smiling pleasantly and clearly not noticing the thinly veiled stab at Draco.
“I’m not saying that the poor quality of recruits is a good thing, but isn’t this what we fought for?”

“Certainly,” Harry agreed with a smile, though not without sending another glance at Malfoy, a mute reminder that Baker’s use of we did not include him; a comment the felix felicis didn’t allow him to say out loud.
In conversation with others, Harry could feel the effects of it like a broad hand smoothing over the back of his neck, an almost imposing sensation that quieted down Harry’s urge to bicker. Though Baker and McMillan must have experienced something similar, neither seemed bothered nor aware of it, a weird pantomime that made Harry’s stomach flip with something akin to intrigue.
He took another large drink of his wine.
“But pray tell, Potter, are you then stuck with the petty crimes, now that the Juniors are worthless?” McMillan went on, presumably an awkward attempt at taking a playful jab at Harry, who had over the course of the past decade had quite famously rejected any offers of a promotion.
“That was why I was hoping for an audience with the Head Potioneer,” Harry said, happily jumping at an opportunity to escape the conversation.
His attention returned onto Malfoy, loaded. “There’s been a surge of illegal potions on the black market, and I’d like his input.”

Draco could see the comment that Potter wanted to make in his eyes, feeling the influence of the potion stretch out to smooth him over, something he rarely bothered with desiring from Potter, but in this company it seemed more appropriate. After all, he didn’t feel the need to remind their colleagues which side of the war that Draco had been fighting on.
The change of subject was a relief, even if Potter turned it around to Draco again, trying to engage him in talking about work. While Draco felt pretty certain that that wasn’t why Potter had called out for him, and for a moment considered dragging out the conversation even further, he was beginning to feel stifled and wanted to get out of there; something within Potter making Draco feel reckless.
“Of course, I had almost forgotten,” Draco stated with a polite smile, turning to look properly at McMillan and Baker, though all of his attention was on Potter.
“Excuse us, gentlemen.”

Subtle as it might have been, there was a palpable moment where the fate of the conversation was being considered by Malfoy, everything else stalling until he had made up his mind.
When Malfoy finally spoke, a balance point tipped, Harry couldn’t help but grin, immensely pleased. Along with it came a physical sense of relief, like gravity had eased and he was no longer nailed to that spot on the floor. It made his stomach flip in anticipation, too.
“Enjoy your evening,” Harry said to the two other department heads, though he barely looked at them as he downed the rest of his wine, already leaving for the hallway.

It took no communication between the two of them to know what was going to happen. It was refreshing to not have to talk, Draco finding that not having to go too much back and forth was just what he needed.
Once the reached the bathroom door, Draco took little care in pulling Potter inside, knowing that no one was in the hallway with them, so there was going to be no one to witness them.

Harry couldn’t help but grin at the indelicacy of Malfoy’s actions, finding such a pleasure in the transparency and urgency of his tugging and shoving. It made Harry’s stomach flip, such a juvenile sense of play about it that it almost made him laugh.
It took great restraint for Harry not to reach for Malfoy once the door closed behind them.
“I’m not ****ing kidding about the potions,” he taunted, the bite of his words softened by the persistent smile pulling at his lips. Despite his insistence on having this conversation immediately, Harry’s eyes were heavy, favouring Malfoy’s mouth, his chest, keenly aware of their close proximity.
“Do you know the dealer?”

Draco honestly couldn’t think of anything he wanted to do less than discuss illicit potion dealing with Potter in a bathroom at a ministry party.
He sighed and rolled his eyes, wondering if he would be able to push it and just not answer Potter’s question, however, he also knew him better than that, and hoped that if he just played along that they would be able to get on with business.
“I don’t know any dealers,” he stated, patience thin and his voice doing remarkably little to hide his annoyance.

Harry’s grin widened at Malfoy’s audible annoyance, his attention returning onto Malfoy’s face to catch a glimpse of the matching expression. It made something within Harry flip, inexplicably thrilled by Malfoy’s indifference, feeling the way everything was drawn tight between them.
“Of course not,” Harry smoothed over, a mean sort of amicability in his voice. There was not an ounce in him that believed Malfoy, but then again, it didn’t really matter if Malfoy was telling the truth or not. “Why would you, Head Potioneer?”

Draco couldn’t help but roll his eyes at that, having really not prepared himself to have a conversation about his addiction with Potter, and he was really not in the mood.
“Potter, I know listening isn’t really your strong suite, but do try to make an effort,” he said, feeling his patience with this game run out very quickly and feeling desperate for a way to knock that stupid grin off of Potter’s face.
“I do not have a dealer.”

The thought that Malfoy might be brewing his own supply of potions hadn’t crossed Harry’s mind before Malfoy pressed the subject. It was an incredibly reckless position to put himself in, almost more so than taking the potion in the first place.
The realisation dawned on Harry’s expression with great pleasure.
“Oh, Malfoy,” he said with a grin, an unintentional tenderness escaping him, struck by a sense of pity towards him.
Having not had any actual plans to talk about work with Malfoy, this piece of information was beyond what Harry had expected to gain. Satisfied, Harry finally stepped closer, grabbing an indelicate hold of Malfoy's robes.
“You’ve really ****ing your career,” he added softly, though it never fully materialized as a genuine threat before Harry crossed the last short distance between them, meeting Malfoy in a greedy kiss.

There was a surprising amount of tenderness in what Potter was saying to him, making Draco stumble as he was pulled in for a kiss. It only took him a second to reciprocate though, surprised the familiarity he already felt in the feel and give of Potter’s body against his own and how badly he craved it.
Desperate to push them into more familiar territory, Draco pushed Potter against the sink, wanting to erase every single memory of the softness he had just heard in Potter’s voice.
“You’re insufferable,” Draco muttered into Potter’s open mouth before biting down on his bottom lip, feeling the urge to be closer to Potter deep from the bottom of his stomach.
