Harry took another drag, looking at Malfoy with a brazen interest. He wasn’t deaf to the fact that, even in his mockery, Malfoy hadn’t asked him to leave. Harry exhaled.
“You’re acting like all of this is happening against your will,” he stated, a smile persistent at the very corners of his mouth. “When, in fact, I’d dare to say that you’ve gone out of your way to be here.”
Malfoy hadn’t outright admitted to advancing his career through the use of illegal potions, but Harry doubted he ever would; however, that didn’t mean it didn’t exist between them like a shared truth. Harry wondered if Malfoy felt some relief in that.

Draco couldn’t help but roll his eyes at that, knowing that his being constantly on Felix probably had helped a lot in his career progression, but he really didn’t reel like that should disqualify him from complaining about dreary ministry social calls.
“You’re still on about that?” Draco asked with a raised eyebrow, taking another drag from his cigarette as he looked at Potter, trying to figure out if he was going to do anything about his knowledge of Draco’s substance abuse or if he just enjoyed pressing his buttons.

The almost bored question Malfoy posed sent a lick of familiar adrenaline through Harry, an old recollection of how it felt catching Malfoy in something nobody else saw.
“Given that you’re still on that, sure,” Harry was quick to shoot back, grinning. For how shitty Malfoy’s attitude had been at these events, it was hard to understand why he had even bothered, seeming just as miserable as he had always been.
“How long has it been?” he asked, curious as to whether or not Malfoy would humour him with an answer. He raised his cigarette to his lips, though it did a poor job of obscuring the mean smile pulling at his lips, highly entertained. “Years? Could you even get an interview without it?”

Despite knowing just how much trouble he would be in if his use of Felix Felicis ever got out, Draco was mostly just exhausted by the line of questioning. He had concluded that if Potter was gonna tell anyone, he would have told them by now, so this entire display really was just to get on Draco’s nerves and he was annoyed that it was actually working.
“You never knew how to bloody shut up, do you?” He found himself countering, knowing that it was a weak comeback at the best of times, but Draco also knew that he really had defence for his actions. It was no use denying it, because they both knew the truth, so it came down childish snipes.

Taking a drag, Harry swallowed down a grin. Perhaps Harry had caught Malfoy with his guard down compared to the last time he saw him, but it felt like Malfoy was showing his annoyance in record time. It was intoxicating still having that effect on him, worth more to him in his pocket.
Somewhat aware of the presence of other people around them, Harry took half a step forward. For now, he wanted to savour having this piece of information on Malfoy for himself.
“Am I the first to have noticed?” he went on, undeterred. There was a soft furrow between his brows, but an echo of a laugh remained in his voice. “Have people forgotten how you really are?”

There was nothing more infuriating than that stupid smirk on Potter’s lips, making it so abundantly clear to Draco that he had let his guard down too fast and was letting Potter get the upper hand on him. He had spent so long trying to properly blend into a professional setting, letting Felix guide him to putting the lid on certain behaviours and instead showcasing others, being face to face with Potter again was jeopardising that in seconds.
“Are you claiming that you know who I really am?” Draco asked incredulously, taking the final drag of his cigarette and blowing the smoke in the direction of Potter’s face as he let the bud drop, vanishing it with a flick of his wrist before it had time to actually reach the ground.

Despite his glasses, and despite not managing to break eye contact, the wash of smoke still managed to make Harry’s eyes flutter. It was hard to tell if Malfoy had gotten closer, but it only made Harry’s smile widen.
“Don’t I?” he pressed, a drunk recklessness. It felt like another thing they both knew to be true, tasting it in the back of his throat like iron. It probably wasn’t even a question of Harry knowing him, but simply that Malfoy didn’t hide it. “You don’t ****ing act like this around anybody else.”
Intentionally casual, Harry took a drag of his own cigarette, staring at Malfoy overtop it. He didn’t go out of his way to shield Malfoy from the exhale, either, too aware of the fact that they were smoking the exact same tobacco, mixing in the air between them.
“You’re not a good person, Malfoy, I know that for a fact.”

There really was nothing more infuriating than seeing Potter with that self satisfied smirk on his stupid bloody face.
Draco had hoped that maybe both of them would’ve grown out of his childish sniping, knowing that both of them were respected professionals in their respective fields. However, he also couldn’t deny that flame that was licking up his insides, making him feel more alive than he had for a good long while.
For the first couple of years, Draco would almost feel that effect from the Felix, the golden glow leading him to correct decisions and making his achieve everything that he had ever wanted, however, the flames that were currently burning inside him were different. He could even feel the Felix tugging at him still, trying to guide him best in a situation where he really didn’t know what he hoped to get as an end result.
“Just shut the hell up, Potter.”

For the first time, Harry broke eye contact, rolling his eyes in an exasperated glance back out towards the darkened courtyard as he took the last drag of his cigarette. The gesture was one of dismissal, but it was in part due to the way the air between them felt heavy, like oncoming thunder. He recognized that fighting with Malfoy hadn’t always felt like this, and Harry was starting to doubt that this was the effect of the felix felicis. “Yeah?”
As he turned back into the conversation, Harry took a step forward. Contrary to Malfoy, Harry flicked the stub without caring to disapparate it or aiming it away from Malfoy’s robes.
“Why don’t you make me?” he bit, eyes returning onto Malfoy with that same humoured defiance.
The more Malfoy deflected, the more tempting it became to push and provoke; the conversation could have been painfully shorter had Malfoy had even an ounce of self awareness. “****ing be honest with yourself for once.”

One of the biggest side effects of being on Felix Felicis for too long was a stronger tendency for impulsive decisions, due to a stronger dependency on the potion to make decisions for you.
That really was the only explanation Draco had for his next actions and it did flit through his mind as he grabbed a fistful of Potter’s hair, roughly pulling his head backwards while his other hand clasped around his throat. For a moment, Draco really considered strangling him before the familiar glow softened his edges just a little.
Instead, he crashed into Potter with an equally violent kiss.

The moment Malfoy snapped forward, Harry’s eyes unwillingly widened with surprise, exposing a brief flicker of something charged with anticipation.
Instinctively, Harry’s hand grabbed Malfoy’s wrist, a knife’s edge moment where it felt like Malfoy might use the leverage to punch him. In that moment, it felt like thunder had indeed struck, the way something had been building between them suddenly coming to a point. So used to duels and magic, the rough grip Malfoy had of his hair felt dizzyingly intimate, transparently betraying Malfoy’s intentions even before he himself seemed aware of it.
Suddenly certain that Malfoy wasn’t going to hit him, a wicked grin dawned on Harry’s expression before readily meeting the kiss like it wasn’t the first time, like this had always been inevitable.

Draco kept a tight grip on Potter’s hair, keeping his head pulled backwards, easing the angle on Draco’s back as he had to lean down to actually kiss him. It barely counted as a kiss at all though, far more teeth and tongue than what was rightfully necessary, but Draco also knew that there was never any other was that this could possibly go.
As much as Draco was ashamed of it now, he knew that he used to be obsessed with Potter, too many nights spent alone in bed with him on the forefront on his mind. Had his teenage self been able to see him now, he wasn’t sure what he would have done, but it probably would have been embarrassing.
Now though, Draco found that it was the easiest outlet for his rage, pushing Potter backwards by the throat, desperately needing to get closer and let these feelings out somehow.

For how much time Harry had spent thinking about kissing Draco Malfoy throughout the years, Harry found that it failed to compare. He felt it in his chest as though he had taken a dose of felix felicis himself, like it was still on Malfoy’s tongue when he kissed him. It had been ages since he had been kissed like that, if ever.
As soon as it became apparent that Malfoy’s hand around his throat lacked any real sense of danger, Harry’s hands fell from Malfoy’s wrist, instead clawing at the front of Malfoy’s robes, a blind fumble for his fly.
He had made no progress by the time Malfoy had pushed them far enough to slam Harry’s back against the stone facade of the Ministry, the impact knocked out what little air was left in Harry’s lungs.
“Arse,” he cussed through a gasp, the word carelessly muddled into the kiss.

The comment earned Potter a harsh bite to his lip, not that Draco took any level of offence to it, but more so just because he could. With Potter pushed entirely against the harsh stone wall behind them, Draco lessened his grip around his throat, hand instead going rapidly down to start pulling at Potter’s robe.
If he was being completely honest with himself, he wasn’t entirely sure what he thought would happen when he had kissed Potter, but this was beyond anything he could have ever thought.
One thing that Draco had absolutely promised himself when he started to regularly use felix felicis was that he would never be involved with anyone while he was on it, which made Draco’s head spin even further, having gone a very long time since he was last intimate with someone. That was at least the explanation he wanted to believe, but as he had finally hiked up Potter’s robe enough to reach his fly, he knew that that wasn’t all there was to it.

Even wearing trousers underneath, the feeling of Harry’s robes being pulled up around his hips made his stomach swoop, a wash of poorly suppressed desire spilling to the surface. Harry felt drawn tight beneath Malfoy’s touch, surrounded by him in a way that made him simultaneously want to punch him and ask for more.
Nearly feeling his knees buckle at the sensation, he gave into Malfoy’s persistent tug of his hair, letting his head fall back against the wall behind him. Though it barely created any space between them, it gave Harry enough opportunity to break the kiss.
“Do you want people to watch?” he asked, out of breath. Given how it was said to humiliate Malfoy, Harry himself didn’t sound particularly opposed to it, a reckless grin pulling at his lips. “So eager.”

“They won’t,” Draco stated, having no experience in hooking up with anyone while on felix felicis, but he knew enough about the effects to know that absolutely no one was going to see them as long as that wasn’t his desire.
“Not unless I want them to,” he stated with a crooked grin, moving down further to kiss along Potter’s jaw, teeth scraping against sensitive skin, wanting to see just how far he was going to be able to push this. His hand on Potter’s fly simultaneously moved to harshly grab at Potter’s crotch, eager to move their little encounter in a very specific direction.
“Besides, seems that I’m not the only one that’s eager,” he added with a bite to Potter’s neck.

It felt like Malfoy had barely given his reply before the door to the courtyard slammed closed, feeling it reverberate through the masonry. Flickering through Harry’s mind was the implication of it all, the sudden realisation that Malfoy had been on felix felicis for years, and just how strong of a dose he must be on for reality to shift so subtly to accommodate him. Along with Malfoy’s rough touches, barely caresses, it sent a shudder through Harry, bringing a wild grin to his lips, more so amazed than horrified.
Pushing off the wall and into Malfoy’s steady presence, Harry grabbed for Malfoy’s robes, too. Quite disinterested in undoing them all, he transparently reached to undo the buttons immediately at hip-level.
“Go on, then,” he said, turning his face towards Malfoy’s hair. Though his tone remained unabashed in the face of his own arousal, his voice remained breathless, not unaffected by the hold Malfoy had on him.

There was no grace or tenderness involved in the rushed handjobs Draco and Potter exchanged, both of them clearly seeing the other as a means to an end, though Draco couldn’t deny the dark surge of some deeper satisfaction running through him. There was just something in their shared history that convinced Draco that them colliding like this was completely and utterly unavoidable.
That, however, didn’t mean that Draco was going to linger on it. Almost the second they were both done, Draco put himself back in order, knowing that they had been missing for quite a while by now and though his felix felicis was powerful, there was boundaries to how much it could do.
The only thing that gave Draco pause was how exactly to proceed from this, knowing that Potter would probably appreciate pillow talk just about as much as he himself would which is to say not at all.

Though Malfoy was no longer pinning him to the wall, he hadn’t moved far enough away that he wasn’t still effectively crowding Harry against him. Harry stared at him, almost able to see Malfoy’s mind work overtime to figure out how to apply some manners into this situation, as though he hadn’t just had to disapparate spunk off of his work robes.
No fake-courteous cleaning charm would wash away the memory of it, however, the imprint of Malfoy against his skin burnished into his being. Harry felt it slot itself to the forefront of his mind, ahead of thoughts and images of friends and loved ones; a painfully familiar place for Malfoy to occupy.
“What?” Harry demanded with a taunt, as though Malfoy was a moron for pausing. Though his mind was still reeling from the orgasm and Malfoy’s mere proximity still made something in his stomach swoop, Harry had no interest in staying in this any longer than necessary. “Go, you twat.”

Hearing Potter’s voice was really all it took for Draco to be broken out of his reverie, finding it jarring enough to remember exactly what they had just done and how that had been a mistake. Sure, it had been something that Draco had fantasised about incessantly as a teen and occasionally as an adult, but that didn’t exactly make it a smart decision by any means.
“You were always so crude,” Draco snapped back, not that he had ever expected anything different, nor did he really want anything else if he was being completely honest with himself. They had gotten it out of their systems, and while there was a small voice in the back of Draco’s head telling him that it wasn’t enough, he knew that it was going to have to be.
“Bye, Potter,” he stated as he finally stepped entirely away from Potter, taking active effort in not turning around to case a last glance at him as he went in to rejoin the party.
