My avatar is from a drawing done by Edward Hopper, titled "In a Restaurant". It's one of my favorite drawings by him. I also use this avatar for various other accounts and places, so as to help ensure cross platform recognizability.

So... yeah.

By the way, Ghost, I really like your signature. You certainly have got some swagger! :D

Hey that's great, I love Edward Hopper and it's really nice to see a piece of his that hasn't been edited into something else. I love derivative works just fine, but I'm glad someone appreciates the originals too!

Haha, thanks Aeromancer. Edward Hopper, I feel, was probably one of the last great artists before the advent of the "Modern Art" scene of Jackson Pollock, Picasso, and all those artists that completely threw away the traditional styles and mores.

I do suppose that the "Modern School", can be appreciated, but I've long felt that the traditional school still has a lot of life in it. There is a great resevoir of potential, buried underneath paths not yet taken, haha.

By the way, correct me if I'm wrong, but is your avatar from the Thundercats? I feel like I've seen it before. If not the Thundercats, then perhaps Voltron and/or He-Man and the Masters of the Universe? The symbol is very familiar, though I can't quite put my finger on it. :(

Because Melanie Martinez is perfect and, a good portion of her music expresses my mindset. So, when I got inspired, I didn't question it and made a series of gifs to create my ideal, in avatar and signature.

Her music is muse-inspiring, as well, so it's a win/win for me.

Ah, very sorry Druid, I never got a chance to reply to what you wrote before! I didn't notice.

I'm actually a huge fan of both the modern school of art as well as the traditional equally, which I suppose puts me in the minority of people. I'm guessing not a whole lot of people like to admire Jackson Pollock and Rembrandt equally!

I don't want to get too far off topic though. You were asking me why I choose my avatar, and I never got a chance to reply. I'm sorry about that.

It's actually not from any of those, but from another animated series: Robotech, or if you prefer the original Japanese name the Super Dimensional Fortress Macross. It's the roundel of the space forces that they serve in the show.

Out of curiosity, how did you choose the one you have now?

Mine is 'Judith' from the TV show 'Vikings'.
I chose it because I look similar to Jennie Jacques, and I like her character in the show, and I dressed up in a 'Judith' costume for the last Medieval festival I went to last July.

Four years ago, I joined the site with a picture of my favorite Cirque du Soleil character, and eventually it became sort of iconic so I just constantly use different pictures of the same character.

After years of sporting the same gif set I'd created, I was struck with the overwhelming urge to change everything up. So, where before I'd had everything in pastels, pinks, all surrounding "pity party". Now...I'm on a "big bad wolf" kick again, and Maria just suits what I'm going for.

I’ve been changed. I chose this one because I love foxes and their babies are called kits, as well as a cat with a gradient because I like colors.

I liked the atmosphere of it, and I think it matches my signature alright.

I know I'm due for a new one, but honestly I have yet to find another. I've had some good canditates, but, I can't help it, I'm picky. Once I'm attached to something, it's hard for me to change my mind.
