In the tail end of the bleak 24th century under a dying sun hidden by smog filled skies humanity clings to its last hopes to travel the stars with the launching of the first frame shift drive ship. Will you join us on this journey of discovery out into the stars to find a new home for humanity.

This RP is open to everyone and will be run mutually by Cmdr Tibtib and myself. Everyone will have one named character on the ship who will have their own goals. Characters may have minor superhuman abilities however they are exceedingly rare and must not be found out because of they are extremely taboo in the United Mining Federation (UMF). It would amount to the just being slightly weird or something incredibly niche such say an engineer being immune to radiation poisoning. The UMF is dystopian corporation that controls everything to make as much of a profit as possible. There are other "corporations" but they are subdivisions of the UMF. More over the vast majority of people almost religiously worships aspects of "capitalism" as their driving ideology. In the past the world was ruled by a totalitarian world order that erased all religions left in the world which left an ideological void after it collapsed. There are still hold outs for different pre-collapse religions such as ones we see in our world today but they are just as taboo as having superhuman abilities.

Technology in the UMF is oddly stunted and could be described as atomic or even diesel punk. Their best weapons are well made relic guns from the 20th and 21st century. The Earth is in a permanent ice age and everything is being thrown towards finding an escape to more inhabitable solar systems. Ranks on UMF ships are as follows:

Brief description: Sarah Steiner started out life as Sarah Bilinger, Born to one of the poor families working at the waste fuel processing plants, over her child hood she watched as family members and friends get sick and die from the harsh working conditions and she finally snapped when on her 12th birthday, she found her dad, dead on his bed after he stole one of the chemicals used in the processing plant that is highly toxic and committed suicide with it. She Ran away from the shelter and stowed away on a leaving cargo vessel. It was when the captain found her near death in the cargo area, he aided her by faking her death and restarting her image as his Adopted daughter Sarah Steiner. And with his help learning space travel and ship life. She worked her way threw the corporate life in the now being apart of the Middle class her was also able to enjoy regular meals that wasn't contaminated with radiation or other pollutants from the refineries and re-processing plants. Now she has a change to prove herself as the General Manager of the very first Jump Capable Ship the UMF has ever constructed.
