Slowly Lance drifted awake from a dream, a hazy memory from a nicer time. And then his head split open.

"Damn it..." Lance muttered under his breath, putting a pillow over his face to block out the sun. His alarm hadn't gone off yet, so it had to be early. Must have forgot to close the blinds before passing out. Black out Lance could be an ass some times.

"I'm gonna put ketchup on top of the beers, he'll hate that." Lance muttered to himself as he dragged himself out of bed, one hand covering his eyes while the other reached for the door. Something caught his foot, and suddenly he crashed into the floor cursing. "Scratch that, mayo. Old mayo. Pretty sure the bottle downstairs went bad."

He tossed the offending bottle into the trash, all the glass in there sounded like a broken wind chime. After making sure his pants weren't soiled he went to the kitchen. Grabbing some pain pills from a cupboard, he drank them down with a lot of water. He then went to the fridge, and begun putting his revenge in motion.

Lee sporting his signature nightwear: black boxer briefs with little purple hearts dotting the entire surface, lay splayed across the couch, transfixed by the screen of his cellphone. His thumb slid up the screen refreshing the feed for the twentieth time. The back of his head and neck had gone numb from resting over the armrest for the past.... how long had he been laying here? He broke focus just long enough to look up at the time.

5:49

As if on cue, a noisy bird song blared through the window behind the couch. He sat up and rolled his head in a slow circle before peering out the window at the deep blue of the early morning sky. Another sleepless night of nervous energy and listening to his heartbeat thump out of control. Lee slid open the window enough to catch the early morning cool breeze and pressed his side against the back of the couch, enjoying the cold for just a moment. He took his phone and snapped a picture of the skyline, carelessly posting it with the requisite tag and a less than captivating caption:

"He woke up on time you guys, but I'll catch him slipping one day!"

He habitually clicked through a few of his messages and kept up his streaks, before a loud thump and subsequent grumbling signaled the start of the day. He prepared his camera and he hopped up just in time to catch the man of the hour. He crouched down next to the couch and addressed the camera directly.

"we're in for a treat today folks," he said in his worst impression of the crocodile hunter he could manage before focusing the camera in on the back of Lance's disheveled head

"The elusive Lance-apithicus, lookit this majestic beast right 'ere! Lookit at its mane, a true alpha out to hunt,"

Dropping the voice for his normal rasp he asked "We still got milk in there?" as softly as he could manage.

Charlie yawned and stretched out on their bed, the thin drapes flowed along with the cool morning breeze. It was early, but seeing as Charlie had made sure to have gotten an early night it wasn't so surprising. They turned on their side, and pulled their phone off the bedside unit, and looked at the time. The screen read "6.00am" Charlie hadn't bothered to set alarm, it was seldom that the sunlight blazing through the drapes didn't wake them before 7am anyway. Charlie could hear the voices of their roommates in the distance, and decided it was time to get stuff ready for class. Honestly, Charlie wasn't even sure why they had enrolled in the first place, but education was apparently important.

Rolling their eyes at the ceiling, they plugged their phone into the cable in the wall, to make sure the phone would be fully charged by the time they had to leave, pulled out a pack of wipes and began giving themselves a quick clean up, Charlie preferred to have showers at the end of the day, so every morning would have a full wipe down. Tossing the dirty wipes in the small trash can they kept in their room, Charlie walked over to the dresser. Pulling out a neon pink pair of boy shorts, socks that had little cartoon skulls on them, a pair of purple skinny jeans that had skeleton hand prints on the back pockets and a powder blue vest top. Pulling on their clothes as fast as they could manage, they slipped their feet into a dark blue pair of sneakers, and pulled their denim jacket off the back of the door and tossed it on the bed. Going into the small cupboard in their room, they pulled out a backpack that was blue with some obscure indie band name on it that wasn't readable really, and threw in a bunch of notebooks, a small pencase, and after unplugging their phone, their charger as well.. and zipped it up as though it wasn't anything worth having to begin with. Charlie picked up a chain that was attached to a wallet, and hooked it onto the belt loop of their jeans, and then slid the wallet in their back pocket. Then put their phone in the front left side pocket. Caught a look of themselves in the mirror, Charlies hair was displaced, so a few finger runs through and it looked like it was just stylishly dishevelled. Walking out the room and locking their door behind them before putting their keys in their jacket pocket and heading downstairs where their roommates were being foolish as usual.

"Hey, ya bunch of idjits" Charlie called out as they walked into the room.

Lance froze, face forward to the fridge and with one hand already in the mayo jar. If he turned around, both his new roommates would laugh at him. They couldn't see into the fridge because he was there, and with some sleight of hand you can make it work.

"Yeah sure we got some." Lance said as he grabbed the glass carton. He quickly wiped the mayo on his hands into the milk, and give it some shakes while he looked for the expiration date. Finding those, he begins to scratch off just the month, then pauses before pulling off the whole thing.

"Not sure when I got the bottle though to be honest, doesn't mix into any of my favorites." He walked over to the couch and dropped the bottle on top of the delivered. He then continued past to the stairs and shows Charlie that it is very old.

"So I can't speak for you two but lm not near drunk enough to go back to school. The sweet summer days of freedom are calling me back, like a phone call from an ex every told me to dump. It the same for you two or is that just me?"

As Lance gave his soliloquy he moved to the liquor cabinet and pull out a large metal flask to slowly fill with an unholy concoction capable of intoxicating by a meer smell. It has yet to be tested if similar results could be achieved fro. secondary air. Having a bunch of bored teenagers jammed into a single room is the best place to try it.

The milk landed into Lee's awaiting outstretched hand and he popped the top to give it an inquisitive sniff. The faint sourness and off-odor of the contents made his nose scrunch. He peered into the bottle. Some coagulated bits floated in the center of the off-white fluid. Without thinking too much, he took a sip directly from the bottle and felt his body immediately reject the horrid flavor on his lips. He immediately coughed and made his way to the sink to spit out the chunky proto-cheese and dump the remnants of the glass bottle down the drain.

"Jesus ****ing' christ! Did you buy that milk during the great depression? Ugh" He shouted out as he ran his mouth under the sink for a few moments. He stood up and followed Lance over to the alcohol before quickly grabbing and waterfalling a small painful mouthful. The mixture burned like cleansing fire in his mouth and throat and he made his way back to the sink, gurgling a bit of it before swishing and spitting it out. He rummaged through the cabinets and retrieved a bag of cheerios, tossing up the occasional piece and trying to catch it in his mouth between wolfing down dry handfuls. He made eye contact with Charlie, holding a piece up at them before tossing it up in their direction.

Without announcement, Lee made his way up the stairs to his room and swiped a pair of black pants and a matching t-shirt and boots before making his way back down the stairs to
"You kidding me, man? I'm kinda hype. I heard the psych professors are pretty decent here and I can't wait to psychoanalyze the **** outta you two." he shouted down to the other two as he quickly dressed himself and flew down the stairs.

"What time are we supposed to do the orientation thing again?" Like 9?"

Charlie looked at Lee and grabbed the cheerio as he launched it at them. After just having seen them drink the rotten milk Charlie did wonder why you would drink it. "Lee, man, why you even think drinking anything this goon gives you... I could smell that over here!" although a slight exaggeration; Charlie could smell something off, whether it was the milk or something else was entirely up for discussion.

Charlie let out a laugh, "Drinking and school? maaan that's a bad mix" they replied whilst still suppressing the rest of the laugh. The thought of Lance being sober was funny enough, without the added learning on top of that. "I mean, at least the first day else you'll probably end up in some bullshit class" Charlie added. "time? I don't have a clue bro... was there a letter or some ****?" Charlie asked, trying to think of what could possibly have been important but all of that had been seemingly info dumped.
