“ACCO Protocols confirmed, Pilot connection protocols suspended” Jack says over the comms to Dominic. “Searching for the highest threat… processing, Highest threat found.”
The beta suit begins navigating through the hallways, to make it down to the maze that the rake type monster, Agent Casey and Charles are in. Helmet lights turn on and Jack continues walking through the maze scanning for threats. Jack turns the corner and finds Agent Casey struggling with the Monster. Jack sprints over and punches the rake in the lower back of the head and would grab its arm and pull it away from Casey. Getting the suit’s wrist mounted taser ready. Jack Punches it in its lower gut while also giving it a severe shock when the taser makes contact.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charles Turns as the plasma bolt misses him to see the monster that is attacking Casey, “What in the Hell is that!??!” Charles says, before turning back and running away as fast as he could Making closer to the sewers before hearing the infantry coming up the stairs from the sewers. He begins to panic before finding a hiding spot.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dominic, remaining in the alpha suit, continues to try and move the suit manually without computer control. He finally manages to get the suit to roll over and lay down face first. And gets the rear of the suit to open so he can crawl out of it. Still in a daze and now bleeding at a medium pace from the lower part of the neck where the broken neural interface is. “Repeat, This is Dominic Maddox, medical help needed by Electrical Holding block.” Dominic leans against a solid portion of the wall and uses it to help him to his feet.

Garrison wrestled with Mongrel, his superhuman strength preventing the hulking woman from overwhelming him with her four arms. Garrison worked his hands together, clasping them together in a greco-grip in order to prevent Mongrel from manipulating his elbow joints. As they continued to struggle for control, he unclasped his hands before springing up and smashing a rising elbow strike into Mongrel’s jaw. Although he threw it from the bottom position, the blow probably would have shattered a normal person’s jaw and caved in their face. Almost simultaneously he used his legs to leverage against her hips in order to create distance and an opportunity to get back to his feet.

Aimpoint just shook his head as he surveyed the contained creature, not sure what in the world he was looking at.
“Alright Doc,” Aimpoint grunted, “Do whatever you need to do, I’ll watch your back.”

Kira took a deep breath before replying, doing her best to calm her nerves.
“No thanks, I’m not really hungry.” She said, “But some games could be fun.”

The hot plasma sears the skin of the bloody approaching beast angering it as its mouth gaped. Rake devours Casey's gun and his hand with it before being gut checked by a hydraulic fist. The tasers irritate it further causing it to lash out spinning quickly striking both Casey and Jack with its tail throwing both away. The rake decided that it wasn't worth eating Casey's mechanically enhanced meat and jumped over the dazed agent on the ground following the scent of its preferred prey. The revolver jiggled around in its belly as it gallops onward.

Progeny and the infantry platoon ran past Charle's hiding spot and Casey on the ground chasing after the hostile cryptid. Casey gathers himself standing and surveying what just happened and puzzling over where his hand went still not quite believing what his own eyes had seen. Hearing Dominic over the radio calling for help and seeing his second gun laying broken on the ground Casey answered, "This is Agent Norton, all of my weapons are disabled or ineffective. I am wounded and I will be withdrawing from the building after attempting a rescue of deputy Maddox. I am totally defeated." Casey calmly ties a hasty tourniquet on his wounded arm writing the time on his forehead with a sharpie from his pocket. Turning to leave he begins walking back to Maddox saying as he passed Jack and the empty suit, "Find Charles. Don't stop until he is apprehended or dead. Preferably dead. He could kill so many if he escapes.

Mongrel is thrown off of Garrison stunned from the blow like none she had received her entire life even dislocating her jaw. As Garrison sprung to his feet now facing her she struggled to recover as quickly as she had in her prime. Stepping back out of muscle memory as her fighting instincts kicked in and her blood began to rise. She smiled as she relocated her jaw the pain being a familiar memory. She assumed her professional fighter's stance and readied herself to go toe to toe to her first real rival.

"We have done everything we need too. He is still contained as long as he is behind that door." Dr.Mieszaniec says calming himself down. He walks into his office which had been ransacked by the puppets searching for the door controls finding nothing but paperwork meaningless to them. Righting his chair setting it up so he has line of sight to both the door and its controls. Transmitting a message to Mr.Martins that the site is safe from a delta class security breach. Sitting down he begins filling out the paperwork his organization has a fetish for before continuing, "Before I forget, don't listen to a word it says and especially do not believe a word it says. I doubt we will be seeing anymore puppets."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sabina pulls out a popular and yet complex board game that'd be familiar to Kira. She begins to set it up as she explains, "This used to be my favorite board game. I remember playing it every few weeks as a family for our game night. We'd gather around the table and all five of us would play. It's a shame our older brother isn't here. He would cream everyone at this game when we played it. I really miss him. Sabina finishes smiling as she begins reading the rules and passing out cards and player tokens getting everything ready and the all clear was sounded by the simultaneous buzzing of their cell phones.

"Find Charles. Don't stop until he is apprehended or dead. Preferably dead. He could kill so many is he escapes." Agent Casey says to Jack as he passes on his way back to Dominic. "Yes sir, Charles will be found." After Casey leave Jack turns after disengaging the taser systems and would begin searching for the fugitive. quickly finding Progeny and the infantry platoon, running in, after the Rake like creature. "hello, Have you ran into another person down here? He is wearing an electrical block inmate uniform?" Jack asks in his tin like Voice. as he steps out of the way to let the Squad of guards pass, Still scanning for movement nearby.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charles Hearing the hydraulic sounds coming from the suit and the heavy sound of the metal feet hitting the ground coming to a stop, Before hearing the tin like voice he knows, the person in the armor is back up and is looking for him. He would lunge out of his hiding spot still charged and would shoot a quick bolt of electricity hitting suit in the legs. Jack would turn quickly as the beta suit has better defensive properties over the alpha suit and would begin chase Charles as he make makes his way down to the sewer network underneath the FSA facility.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dominic Continues to try and stay standing but ends up putting his back to the wall and sliding down it into a sitting position as the shock begins to where off and the damaged interface beings to flood his body in severe pain. "AAH, this is bad, if it hurts this bad." Dominic would reach back to try and feel his implant and when brings his hand back and looks to see the amount of blood he knows something is screwed up with it.

“Oh… What happened to your b-” Kira began to ask before their cellphones collectively alerted them that the emergency status was over. Kira sighed with relief as a moment later, her phone chimed again with a text from Sam. A smile made its way to her face as she read his message, and she responded that she would see him later after he was finished work.

///

Mongrel rolled her neck before tucking her chin down behind her hunched left shoulder. Her fighting stance was fairly typical for a Muay-Thai fighter, excluding her additional pair of arms. Her top pair of ripped arms were raised to her cheeks, while the lower arms created a nearly perfect guard of her midsection.
She stood in a bladed stance, facing Garrison at a diagonal angle. Her front foot bounced in a regular rhythm, ready to shift her body’s weight forward and advance with a punch, or flick up into a kick.
Her rapidly swelling jaw ached, and moving it proved even more painful. Garrison had managed to generate so much power even in such a constricted position that even Mongrel was hesitant to feel the full extent of his power at the end of a fully extended punch.
Garrison slowly raised his arms as he adopted a fighting stance, a sly grin playing across his lips. He lunged forward, his incredible speed only matched by Mongrel’s reflexes. Her lead leg whipped up just as Garrison unleashed a sweeping overhand punch. Mongrel’s foot landed squarely on his solar plexus before extending, throwing most of her body weight behind the counter. The push kick threw him back several metres until he skidded to a halt. He was back to his feet and advancing again in an instant, his hands loosely held beneath his chin, leaving his face exposed to potential counterattacks.
Mongrel leaned back as Garrison targeted her chin with a duo of straight punches. Stepping back and planting her rear foot solidly on the ground, Mongrel rotated her whole body into a pair of tight hooks with both of her right arms. Both fists landed, one catching Garrison on the cheekbone while the other dug into his abdominal muscles with a sickening thud. The twin punches sent him flying into the wall, a spiderweb of cracks opening across the brick structure. Garrison sprung back, winging another right hand up towards Mongrel’s head, but this too she slipped and swiftly sent the smaller man hurling into the brick with a sharp counter.
Garrison lunged towards her yet again. This time Mongrel slipped inside of his hook, planted one leg across his and grabbed a hold of him. Letting the momentum of his strike carry him forward, she executed a brutal throw, hurling him over her shoulder and into the ground in one flowing movement.
Debris flew into the air as Garrison smashed into the ground, back first. Mongrel prepared to follow through on the throw and go to the ground to try to outwrestle him again. She prepared to fall on his head, which lay at her feet, but Garrison reached behind, clasping her ankle in a vice grip and yanked with so much force that the hulking woman landed on her back alongside Garrison on the ground, her head whipping back into the floor. Garrison scrambled to his knees, clambering into mount over Mongrel with his legs on either side of her torso.
Mongrel barely had time to react as he threw down punches from the top position. She jerked her head left and right, avoiding his devastating punches. Each one crashed into the floor behind her head and tore up the concrete with loud crunches. The flurry ended when a thunderous punch embedded one of Garrison's fists in the ground, slowing his onslaught just enough for Mongrel to grab onto him and fling him off of her.
They both scrambled to their feet, but Garrison’s lighter frame rose first. As soon as Mongrel rose off her knees, her face was met by a sledgehammer as Garrison pivoted his body through the punch, clipping her over the eye.
She stumbled away from Garrison, her legs seemed to bend like jelly underneath her and she fell to her knees and rose again several times until she found her feet. The world whirled as she looked back to Garrison, who was already after her. She blinked, trying to see through the fog that surrounded her. She shuffled her feet away from Garrison as he approached, but her legs seemed heavy, and she didn’t get far.
Garrison launched himself into a leaping hook, dead set on taking her head off. The punch glided past Mongrel’s temple, who barely managed to turn her head away at the last possible instant. Another punch came winging in from the other side, and before Mongrel could think she slipped aside and avoided it my millimetres.
The brutal barrage continued, vicious punches raining in but somehow none of them made contact. Mongrel’s body moved on its own, her fighting instincts kicking in even while her mind was unable to take notice of the dozen shots that narrowly missed. She rolled under another swinging arm, coming up and crashing against Garrison. The jolt seemed to stir Mongrel from the haze that had taken up in her mind, and with a slight shake of her head, she was back.
She used her two top arms to pull down on Garrison’s neck, robbing him of his stability before slamming alternating knees into his ribs, followed by a flurry of punches from her lower pair of arms, delivering a series of blows to Garrison’s midsection before following up with two uppercuts that landed squarely on his chin.
Garrison ducked and rolled out of her grasp, unleashing a combination of his own. He ripped to the body, two hooks to her left ribs followed by an uppercut to her abs.
The shots drove the breath out of Mongrel, and she grunted with pain as the uppercut drove into her midsection, the upward force enough to almost lift her off her feet. She realised - too late - that those strikes were just to set up another, more devastating attack. Garrison slipped low to his right, avoiding Mongrel’s hands as they sought to tie him up in another clinch. He wound up his right hand, lowering it almost to his hip, before rebounding into a terrifyingly fast uppercut.
Mongrel braced herself just in time, tensing her jaw and leaning into the punch as it arrived to mitigate as much force as possible.
The impact felt like it caved in her face, and when her neck flung back she thought it might have snapped. She flew up and back, smashing into the ceiling. For what seemed like a long time she stuck there, embedded by the force of the blow. Garrison looked up with a satisfied expression, just as she detached and fell back to the floor with a thud.
Garrison circled her crumpled body like a wolf, how to finish his prey. He chuckled, then laughed when he realised she actually thought she could win.
“You dumb bi-” He was cut off her hulking body leapt off the floor and smashed into him, sending him stumbling backwards. She stayed on him, all four arms smashing shots into his head, body, arms or whatever else she could reach. Garrison shelled up, his arms raised to guard high, and back up until his back hit a wall.
Mongrel unleashed upon him, hitting him wherever, whenever she could. Punches, elbows and knees hit whatever he left exposed, or else just wailed against his arms. She did not stop. Her fists were wild, and the ceaseless outpour of violence only increased in speed, her hulking form a blur as she wailed on Garrison.
Garrison slowly lowered his hands, ignoring the fact his face was assaulted by countless punches and slicing elbows. Then he also began throwing.
Mongrel grunted in pain as his punches connected with her body and head, but she did not slow her offence. Garrison, his back against the wall, unloaded his own blindingly fast flurrying of punches, paused, then threw another flurry, and another. Again and again, they exchanged vicious strikes, both completely disregarding defence.
Mongrel refused to step back, despite Garrison opening a dozen cuts over her eyes and on her cheeks. Her body was bruised, and she knew several ribs had already cracked. He leaned into a right elbow strike, splitting open Mongrel’s top lip. Blood gushed from the cut, spraying over both of them, adding to the red stains on Mongrel’s uniform and the rivers of blood that flowed down Garrison’s topless torso as the two fought in a phonebox.
Mongrel reprised by throwing a colossal pair of hooks with her left arms, both landing flush against Garrison's skull, snapping his head around in time to catch a thunderous uppercut which sent it rebounding against the wall behind him. She caught him again as his head flew forward, this time her combination went unanswered and she went to work on his unprotected head. Punch after punch sent it flopping from side to side, and she repeatedly caught it again and again.
BOOM
Mongrel stumbled back, her face on fire and unsure about what had hit her. Garrison grabbed hold of two of her arms, pulling her back towards him before jumping into a second headbutt.
BOOM
The booming thud as their two skulls impacted echoed through the facility. Mongrel’s knees buckled momentarily. She regained her balance just as a punch connected with her jaw, dislocating it again and sending her sprawling to the floor. She got back to her feet just as Garrison unleashed a looping uppercut that landed flush with her face, breaking her nose with a loud crunch.
Mongrel didn’t know where she was anymore, and blindly fell backwards to the floor, the back of her head bouncing on the concrete. Garrison loomed over her and, swatting aside her weak arms, dropped into mount.
“Good try.” Garrison snarled as Mongrel faded out of consciousness. He readied himself to strike the killing blow on his helpless opponent as all of his blood shifted to the right side of his body and threw him down the hallway. Shifting onto his back as he slid he saw a man almost measuring up to his stature levitating a sizable amount of water liberated from pipes broken in his fight with Mongrel. Behind him stood a team of national guard medics on their way to assist Dominic and Casey.
“You can surrender now,” Blizzard said, moving his hands and dropping the water floating around him. Garrison felt a sharp pain in his chest and his heart ground to a halt. His blood stopped flowing but his heart was fighting it with all of its strength. That man was stopping his heart somehow by controlling his blood or the water in his blood. He felt his heart begin to tear itself apart and heal in a repetitive cycle and he knew he would have to escape before his energy was sapped by the trauma. He grabbed for his briefcase with his objective inside and leapt away. As he escaped the deadly grip on his heart lessened and he was freed from the drain on his life.
Garrison made his escape through the maze of winding corridors in the facility. Killing several patrols with ease, he emerged into daylight, a sharp contrast to the permanent fluorescence inside. The defensive perimeter surrounding the base was ill-equipped to stop him and, despite their best efforts, he escaped.

Blood steadily drips from the stub where Casey's hand had been as he retraced his steps towards where Dominic lay against a wall. Casey's cybernetics report his body going into shock with early symptoms of blood loss beginning to become apparent. Reaching his downed deputy he pulls from one of his pockets a morphine pen dosing it appropriately for Maddox. Stabbing it into Maddox's leg while ignoring the deputy's groans of pain. Casey pulls Maddox onto his back and proceeds carry him pushing past through the stress put on his body. The increased effort causes the bleeding of his arm to increase dramatically and at this point the morphine made Maddox lose his cognitive abilities. As Casey continued to trudge on he found himself reliving his memory of carrying his special forces team leader twenty six miles to the nearest F.O.B. Saving the young lieutenant's life and earning himself the congressional medal of honor in the process. Casey looked up from the imaginary desert road walking as the hallway faded back into view he thought he saw a dark figure dart around a corner. When he reached the corner he gave a curious glance and saw no trace of anyone around him. He promptly decided to press on assuming he didn't have as much time as he did when he was younger. Catching up to the rescue party that had found Mongrel in the hallway meeting them at the door. The paramedics rushed to aid him as he collapsed under Maddox's weight and strain of the incident at the last door leading out of the facility.

Sabina smiled as she dropped the board game hearing the all clear and Kira's question. She turned to leave the safe room and spoke to Kira happily, "He joined the Army. He's a medic and I think he is doing training at Fort Irwin right now. My parents were never happy with his decision though. They thought he was wasting his potential. He always wanted to help people but my parents never understood why he didn't go to medical school and become a doctor." A tone of puzzlement permeated her last sentence as she tried to reason out his decision in her mind. They returned the bizarrely ordinary suburban house contrasted with safe room bellow them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You will die at agent Norton's hands. It cannot be avoided, Aimpoint you will die by the hands of your-" The amorphous blob of darkness spoke until he was interrupted Dr.Mieszaniec yelling in Polish something to the effect of, "NOT TODAY SATAN. YOU ARE CAPTURED AND BY GOD I WILL KEEP YOU HERE." The doc's hand slammed down on the table and for a split second the mere evoking the idea of a God seemed to make the fearsome monster of the twilight seem a little bit less threatening. Dr.Mieszaniec sat down intensely staring at his foe behind the sealed door. He spoke calmly again with a hint of animosity towards the shadow, "What we know about it is that there were legends of dark creatures wandering the forests of Europe. Worshiped by pagans until being driven into hiding by the early Christians spreading their religion during the collapse of the Roman Empire and the Dark ages. They were apparently hunted to extinction by a French holy knight only referred to as 'Paladin'. I guess this one escaped its right demise. This one has only referred to itself as the Shadow King of the Blackforest. This one was rediscovered when it decided to use a soldier as a host to feed on others. When the disappearings followed the soldier's unit back to the states it was discovered by investigators and brought here. I was hired on to the project to find a way to kill it but no luck so far."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Progeny and his posse followed the trail of blood to containment block of the lizard man. They stopped in astonishment at the horrific sight ahead of them. The Plexiglass containment cell had its doors forced open and the occupant had been turned into a messy nest of meat. The Rake happily danced about in the gore until it realized the seventeen pairs of eyes staring at it. It prepared to charge them and then it shuddered to a stop. It seemed to panic for a second before it erupted from the inside out in a fiery cooked mess. While Progeny was confused he wasted no time, "Torch the gore. All of it. We can't take any risk of it being cloned, again." The infantrymen rushed forwards and put their flame throwers to work burning everything they could. After a couple minutes of sustained efforts nothing remained besides a pile of melted plexiglass and ash on the floor.

“That’s very… Interesting.” Aimpoint replied. Not especially convinced by either the strange entity’s supposed prediction or the Doctor’s explanation of his origins. It seemed more likely to Aimpoint that the ‘Shadow King’ was just someone who developed exceptional powers. He didn’t really care about fantasy tales and myths and preferred to stay focused on the calamity at hand, and not the Knights of the Round Table.
Aimpoint’s earpiece buzzed to life and one of the other units now having entered the facility gave him a situation report.
“What a clusterf*ck.” He muttered soon after hearing about Mongrel and Casey’s conditions. A squad of National Guard soon entered the room, relieving Aimpoint of his escorting duty.
“Good luck, Doctor. I’m sure we’ll speak again soon.” Aimpoint said after briefly filling in the new arrivals of what had happened and telling them to keep their eyes open, even if Mieszaniec said the situation was under control.
Moving at a jog, Aimpoint made his way towards his fellow agents.

“I’m sure he had his reasons,” Kira said as they walked back up into Sabina’s home. “Sometimes people just need to do something, even if they don’t fully understand why themselves. Maybe that was why.” She didn’t properly understand her own choices sometimes. She had hesitated at first when Casey offered her a place in the FSA and she had been terrified when confronted by Garrison. Kira still didn’t understand why she had stood her ground back then, or why she had accepted Casey’s offer.
“He sounds nice. Helping people is important.”

After being carried to the other agents and set down on the stretcher of the rescuers Dominic begins looking around slipping in and out of consciousness, He smiles after seeing a nearby person, and he mumbles drunkenly from the morphine affecting his body much worse due to the blood loss. "Your fu- funny looking." before slipping back asleep.

Charles in full panic runs into the sewer entrance and continues running down the stairs at full speed trying to get away from Jack.
Jack with the beta suit quickly follows and once at the top of the old metal stair would jump over the railed and fall into the sewer water landing on its feet. "Warning: Taser systems override, disengage, Fumes to air ratio significant for ignition by electrical spark. Risk level: moderate. " Looking around Jack spots Charles and would sprint towards him in an attempt to capture the super, As Charles sees this he reaches for one of the light fixtures and attempts to re-charge himself blowing out the bulb in the process.
Just as Charles is about to have enough of a charge to fire, Jack gets close enough and delivers a powerful punch to Charles midsection, and throws him off balance landing him near the wall Knocking the wind out of him. Charles struggles to get back up as he struggles to breathe from the pain on his side. "Ouch." he is able to get out of his mouth by the time Jack is back over to where Charles is and would throw another hydraulic driven punch but a last minute dodge from Charles makes Jack miss and crack the concrete wall and leaves a hole. slightly damaging the paint on the fist of the armor. Jack would quickly reach down and pick up Charles before Throwing him towards the staircase to the FSA facility. Charles would hit the floor by the stairs on his butt but reaches for the nearby conduit and finishes recharging. He barely makes it to his feet with the amount of pain in his chest. and not being able to see straight. Charles steps forward and throws his Hand up for the electrical attack but due to his poor sight misses Jack and hits the lighting fixture behind him resulting in a brown out of the nearby block and igniting the sewer gasses. the heat wave Knocking the beta suit off balance and falling against the wall and then hitting Charles giving him burns across his face, arms, and legs. The pressure wave of the nearby section would also blow the manhole cover close to the FSA facility to blow off exposing the sewer. and a fireball with the manhole cover landing between Agent Chasey, the other agents and a nearby squad car.

The manhole cover rolled around on the asphalt like a flipped coin delaying its revelation for a few moments. The first responders jumped away staying out of its path until is settled bottom side up. The loud clang made Casey Jump from the stretcher now wide awake for a second before falling on his knees. He was blinded by the sun looking up into the sky as the paramedics rushed to help him. He turned his gaze to Mongrel being loaded into an ambulance to be rushed to the hospital. His mind barely comprehended what had happened since he lost his hand. He was put back on the stretcher by the paramedics to be driven to the hospital. John Martins looked on Casey being loaded into the ambulance with grave concern beside him stood an army officer who said, "you know as soon as he is walking he will dragged away right?" Casey's handler just nodded and turned away.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The posse walked out of the smokey black charred room making their way to the front of the building. Progeny walked up to Casey's handler and said, "I told you there was a rake. My job is done I am out of here. Come on Blizzard." Progeny shoves the WaBoCz (Washington Bureau of Cryptozoology) folder on rakes into John who takes hold of it with a scowl. He opens it and the Army officer peaks over his shoulder reading things he didn't have the security clearance to read. John Martins reads aloud out of astonishment, "Rakes were cloned from specimens found in the Siberian wilderness by Dr.Mieszaniec in 1964 to be used as weapons by the Red Army. The project failed and the only surviving specimens in 1965 were dropped by plane into the Canadian norther wilderness where a small population lives to this day. You have got to be kidding me." John looks up from the dossier and watches Progeny and Blizzard depart in their classic sports car. The Army officer just turns and walks away hoping that he tomorrow he will just be a normal staff officer in a normal infantry brigade.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The words, "You couldn't have done better." come from the dark void as Aimpoint left the room. It seemed to flicker for a moment before it receded deeper in the room deciding to allow its host have his body back. The soldier came to the door and asked the obvious questions about what happened. Dr.Mieszaniec explained everything he was at liberty to say while filling out the paper work transcribing the things that the shadow king had said.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"He was very nice. I couldn't have had a better Brother. He was very religious, I remember he went to the Orthodox church with our grandparents since he could drive to the day he enlisted. Our parents didn't like that though." Sabina said elaborating on her brother's tenuous relationship with their parents. Sabina smiled disregarding the thought that her brother's kindness came from his way of life instead thinking that he had always been like that. Sabina turned to Kira and said, "do you want to play some video games? We have a ton we can all play."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sergeant Caleb Krakowitz pulled the charging handle back twice on the M249 mounted to his MEDEVAC humvee loading a live round. Soldiers rushed around the ammo pad frantically preparing for real combat they could barely have trained enough for. All the Sergeant knew was that there was a rogue tank roaming the California desert and it would be his job to save those slain by it. Already the infantry platoons of his company had roared off into the desert with live weapons to attempt to head off the tank as it rolled ominously east. Caleb shouted to his driver to hurry up loading the Humvee with the last things they needed to roll. He was intent on catching up to the rest of his company. A tank platoon rolled up screaming at the soldiers working the ammo pad to load their tanks first. Caleb ignored the rowdy tankers and helped his driver finish loading the Humvee before they in turn roared down the dusty desert road towards their company.

“Yeah, sure.” Kira said cheerfully, looking forward to playing some games. Gaming was one of her few passions, beginning when she was younger and Sam let her play most of his favourite titles. They still played together sometimes, but of course with his work as well as school, those occasions were rare.

“Martins,” Aimpoint grunted in greeting as he came to a stop behind Casey’s handler and surveyed the scene before him as the ambulances were loaded. Mongrel was loaded into an ambulance, battered and bruised. Casey had lost a hand and barely looked cognitive. They pulled away, rushing their passengers back into the city towards the hospital.
“Looks like things just got worse for Scarlet City.”

"Well Booker to make matters worse it looks like are going to be in a pinch for a while. FEDCOM (Federal Command) is overwhelmed across the country. There aren't enough federal agents to spare in any agency. What's happening here is happening across the country and there aren't nearly enough resources to deal with it. Due to the global situation even the Army Super Forces Battalion is being stingy. They even made a recent super conscript request from this facility a few days ago. In the mean time I will be reactivating Donutman's volunteer status to take care of the academic portions of the cadet training for the time being. He has the required certifications on file and can fill in. I need you focused on dealing with crime. Casey will be gone for a long while drafted back into the Army and Mongrel will be physically unfit for months." John Martins says flatly to Aimpoint. He has a stern look resolve on his face as he expects the cantankerous agent dispute this order. He prepares himself to use the broad authority he seldom does as his main agents tend to be a couple steps ahead of him leaving a trail of paperwork in their wake for him to take care of.

Sabina booted up the gaming console and loaded up a popular party game. The bright colors flashed on the screen as the title music played and brought Sabina back to a lost nostalgia of playing an earlier entry into the game's series with here elder brother. As the game wound up she felt emotions slowly rising as she remembered being together as a family only a few short years ago. She wasn't sad but happy that she could relive the old days.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A man in a business suit in his high-tech super car drove on the highway as his integrated cell phone pulled up caller ID for "ASIS". He spoke a voice command to pick up the phone. Casey's integrated AI spoke to him in a feminine voice explaining what happened to Casey. He set his car to autopilot with the destination being the Scarlet City Hospital. He made a list on his phone of what he needed and spoke to the AI in Casey's head in a tender and solemn way, "I will be there in a couple hours. I will cancel my business meetings for the next couple days. I can make the arrangements to have our surgeon to give him a hand. Its the least I can do to help out my little brother."

Charles begins waking up after being knocked back by the explosion to see the robotic suit leaning against the wall powered down with some greenish liquid coming from the left arm. He gets to his feet and would choose a direction and begin running through the sewers to get away from the FSA buildings, and hopefully away from any agents that are still close by.
–------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*BEEEEEEP* “system, reboot sequence active, Jack systems online, defensive systems, offline, main hydraulics- pressure low, switching to backup. Left arm compromised. Hydraulics isolated. RE-loading memory of last event, Warning: No pilot detected. Self pilot protocols active. Warning: Damage from blast corrupted memory of last events. Scanning for Fugitives. Fugitive not found. Orders override, Return to FSA Lab awaiting new orders. Boot complete.”
Jack uses the remaining good arm to get off the floor and back onto its feet. Jack gets to the opening from where the manhole cover was blown off and would Jump up through the manhole back above street level and would look around before approaching the agents nearby.
"Subject lost, Primary hydraulics damaged and armor integrity compromised."

Aimpoint sighed. As much as he had hoped his temporary assignment in Scarlet City would soon come to an end, he had expected to be kept here for longer even before today’s disastrous events. Even with Casey, Mongrel and himself working simultaneously crime had still been on a sharp incline, matters would surely be made worse now that a significant portion of the city’s defence against particularly super threats was out of action.
“Fine,” Aimpoint agreed, fairly sure it wasn’t a suggestion but not particularly wanting to acquiesce to a paper-pusher like Martins in any case.
Without knowing the extent of Mongrel’s injuries, Aimpoint would have to take Martin’s word that she would be out of action for an extended period. Garrison must’ve really put a beating on her, he thought to himself.
He had read the file on Garrison, but it hadn’t done the villain’s power justice. Going toe-to-toe with a powerhouse like Mongrel and coming out on top demonstrated a remarkable level of power.
“We need those two recruits in the field as soon as humanly possible,” Aimpoint said, staring at where the ambulances had been. Mongrel had been thoroughly beaten by Garrison, but that girl had faced off against him and not only survived - but actually defeated him. Having said that Kira Ziegler was in all other regards terrible agent material according to his brief assessment. Sabina, who had been originally assigned to him for the duration of his stint in Scarlet City, showed a better aptitude for the role and was also in possession of a valuable power.
“If Donutman can drill rules and regulations into their heads, I’ll take care of the rest of their training, at least until Mongrel is back on her feet.” He resolved, just as Jack emerged some distance away. “I’ll leave you clean this mess up.” He added with his Texas twang before leaving.
Aimpoint walked away and the short man was soon lost amongst a stream of officers, techs and forensics making their way into the facility. He eyed each of them as they passed, head constantly turning as though expecting threats from every direction.

John watched as Aimpoint walked away. Sighing he turned to Jack and asked, "Will Dominic be able to pilot his suits again or does the deputy need to be dismissed? Will you follow my orders?" John Martins was apprehensive about the AI's freedom and hoped that he would be able to rely on the machine to fill in the duties of Maddox.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Casey and Mongrel were rushed to the hospital where the pair's treatment began and it was revealed that Mongrel had a concussion which would in all likelihood require at least a month of recovery. Casey's consciousness was quick to return as he stabilized and was ordered to rest by the medical staff around him. He had been informed that his surgeon would be replacing his hand in a couple days with all the necessary equipment being rushed to Scarlet City from his home town in Kentucky. No sooner than this had been explained to him he saw is brother Carter walk into the room. The family resemblance was uncanny despite being disguised by Casey's cybernetics.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Danger 2-3G, Danger 2-4 where are you? We are surrounded by hostiles and need support. Danger 2-3G respond," The message crackled over the radio into Caleb's ears. He was puzzled by this repeated message from the rogue tank that had broke away from the holding facility driving through the desert. He didn't understand what was happening but he knew he was a medic. He heard but he didn't understand as his Humvee drove past a military truck loaded with rails and wooden ties.

Jack responds in a tin like voice
“Dominic Maddox, will be able to pilot once a cybornetics expert either repairs or removes and installs a new interface implant in the back of his neck. In the meantime, I am in full control of the suit. I have standing orders from Agent Casey regarding the electric super once location is reestablished, but as you are above him you can override orders, as long as they don’t violate my hard wired programming I will follow them. But in the meantime the hydraulics in the left arm has been damaged in the explosion. They will need to be repaired.”
–------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charles stops running as he bends over attempting to catch his breath, He looks around and finds a nearby ladder. He starts to climb it with his arms burning in pain from the burns he sustained during the blast in the sewer. He fights the pain as he forces him self up the ladder and he opens the man hole cover and would get above ground outside the locked down perimeter and would continue running away from the facility.

"Very well. Get repairs if you can, you are otherwise dismissed. Now I need to focus on coordinating the cleanup operations." John Martins says frustrated given that in just one day he lost three of the four super agents under his command. He turned to liaison officers around the incident command post, after receiving a briefing from each one about the state of the incident. All told over a hundred individuals lost their lives in the mess that occurred over a few short hours. Making some preemptive risk controls for the cleanup stage of the operation and began issuing directives to officers around him in line with the situation objectives. Most of them being upset at the loss of their personnel.

"Clung" came from an aluminum baseball bat crumpled from many strikes against its victim. A pile of over a dozen more bats broken and made of various materials lay beside the Roock they were broken against. Dylan sat tied to a sturdy chair in his office overlooking most of the city. Around him were about twenty men mostly of average builds but their leader stood out from them being of superior build. Dylan gritted his teeth as the assailing leader took his turn up to bat struck him with another "Clung" as the bat broke against his stony head and was discarded into the pile.

Jack nods John and turns to walk back to Dominic’s cybornetics lab for repairs. Meanwhile Dominic’s bank of computers and other servers monitor the AI Data core remotely and logs all activities and other damages or errors from the suit. The server begins to log errors inside the data core marking them minor with a few criticals, Within the personality and processing center.

At Scarlet City’s main hospital where Dominic is now in the Trauma room. They flip him onto his front to see his back and after cutting his shirt revealing a metal spine like implant running half way down his back and seeing that some of it in the upper back to lower neck section is very damaged, and actually broke away from the skin in a small part with the majority of the blood is. They are able to stop the blood, and would take him for CT scans, Just to see how this implant is attached and to see how bad if any damage there is.

Two months later.

Monday. 04:03

Booker squinted as he looked in the mirror, piercing lights sending shocks through his aching head. He brushed his teeth mechanically. The effects of sleep thawed out like a thick layer of frost on a windshield. He twisted his torso and inspected a yellow and black bruising patchwork on his back. He turned back and checked over the stitches on his left shoulder, bicep and chest. The bruises on his right ribs and hip were fresher, some parts still red and swollen. He spat out a mouthful of toothpaste and sighed before rinsing his mouse and leaving the bathroom, flipping the light switch as he did.
A series of files already lay at his desk when he arrived on the third floor of the federal building less than an hour later. Their presence was tempered by a steaming cup of coffee left by his assistant. He sipped the black coffee as he read through them, vaguely aware of the rising sun shining through the half-opened Venetian blinds that covered his office’s view of downtown.
The conference room smelled of stale air, sweet snacks and cheap anti-bacterial spray.
“Oh, and there’s another update from the containment facility fiasco.” A half-awake forty-something-year-old whose little remaining hair was messily matted with sweat in the stuffy room. He read from a ubiquitous brown file and dabbed at his shining forehead that stood perfectly in the path of the idle projector that cast an uncomfortable blue light in the room.
“Two more samples have been found missing from the lab's storage rooms, but nowhere near the incursion point. Security cams were already gone by then so no luck on that end. It’s been passed to internal affairs to have a look just in case and downstairs is looking through their reports to see if they turn anything up.”
It seemed like the city was falling apart, hurtling towards critical mass like a train unable to hit the breaks. Things had been bad enough for a long time in Scarlet City, and everywhere else around the country it seemed, but ever since the attack on the containment facility, everything had been getting worse. Supers were appearing every day in incidents ranging from petty crime to demolishing buildings. Gangs roamed the city at night in force, their already prodigious activity seemingly emboldened by the assault on federal authorities that went unanswered and killed dozens.
Both Casey and Mongrel were still out of action, leaving a gaping hole in the city’s ability to contest powered criminals, as well the well-armed thugs that took to the city at night.
Booker nearly made it to lunch before an alert went up. Armed suspects, possibly super in nature. Officer down, possible civilian casualties. Even during broad daylight, the bloated criminal element was bold enough to start gunfights in the city.
He made it back to the hotel room the FSA provided him around midnight. Booker slumped onto his bed sometime after two in the morning.

Tuesday. 04:09

Booker squinted at the mirror. The bathroom lights hurt his head. He inspected a fresh set of stitches over his right eye and a dark bruise on his right shoulder. He spat and left the bathroom, flipping the light switch on his way out.
He finished another cup of coffee, rubbed his eyes and set down the last file on his desk. His assistant entered shortly, depositing another. Booker was about to open it when an alert went up. The sun hadn’t risen yet.
He arrived back for lunch. A chicken wrap and a side of fries went down well with another two cups of coffee. He caught up on a briefing he missed. Two officers were injured in some kind of an explosion in one of the older warehouses in an abandoned industrial area while following a lead. No sign of Garrison in over a month.
It was dark. Only one lamp on the street still worked. Ambulance lights flashed across Booker’s blood splashed face. Three armed men in a tenement room in the northside, one hostage. Four dead. A journalist tried to get Booker’s attention over the sirens and cries. It was the fourth call of the day.
Booker fell asleep around half one.

Wednesday. 04:12

Booker squinted. Bright lights invaded his sleepy mind as he brushed his teeth, an automaton. He flipped off the light as he left.
“Jesus, Booker, you look like sh*t.” John Martins said, handing him a file. “I need you to take a team out to these old warehouses and take a look. We’re pretty sure we’re onto something here. Briefing in ten downstairs.”
They rolled up in two vehicles, on opposite sides of the warehouse. The dilapidated building looked like it could collapse in the next storm. Rusty metal and rotting sheets of plywood kept it together. They found who they were looking for inside. Tattoos, neon hair, leather and bulletproof vests from Amazon. Plus three ARs per head. And none fond of police or super agents. They seemed to be living in a place, with TVs and beds and everything.
One of Booker’s team got jumped from behind, three bullets and he was dead. That kicked things off.
A few hours later Booker sat into a squad car. His body ached as he came down from the adrenaline. His powers took a heavy tole with extended use and he had pulled something in his shoulder. He wiped a mixture of sweat and blood off his forehead as a medic examined a cut along with his quad from a narrowly avoided bullet. Had he been fresher, he might have been able to pull his leg out of the way in time to avoid it.
Two of the officers sent in with his were dead, another three on their way to the hospital. Most of the rest wore the gunfight on their face. The bunch of psychos in the warehouse were serious about their rebellious phase. Before leaving Booker had seen a pile of cheaply printed ‘bounty posters’ with his face on them. He thought they made a pretty bad art project. He had probably killed whoever made them.
He lay on his bed sometime after midnight. He wasn't able to sleep immediately.

Thursday 04:14

Booker brushed his teeth, his eyes still closed. When he eventually raised his heavy eyelids, he spat out a mouth of toothpaste and rinsed his mouth. He was almost out the door before he reached back and flipped the light switch.
More files. Another briefing. Three more calls before lunch, one violent, then an overcooked lunch. Two more calls. One gunfight outside a bank. A super with flamethrowers in his palms.
“Nice work out there,” someone said to Booker as he returned to his office that evening. Maybe it was Martins.
It was another late night of catching up on missed paperwork. He checked over a report from Donutman. The girls were doing well. He would check up on them in person at the weekend.
Booker sat into bed at two.

Friday ...

“It seems to have been some kind of volatile fuel. Our analysts are digging into where it came from. We’ll keep you appraised as we get more information.”
Booker got another cup of bitter black coffee as soon as the briefing was finished, doing his best to rid his mind of the sluggish haze that didn’t seem to wear off as quickly as it had even a few short years ago. He briefly sat in his office, taking stock of emails, messages and files left at his desk. He picked up a report sent by Donutman, once again reminding himself to check up on the two recruits being trained up in the middle of this mess.
Aimpoint suited up and met a team of officers at the front of the federal building. The group was a mixture of federal agents and SCPD officers. Most of them looked as tired as he was. He had been in the city long enough to get to know a great many of them. Unfortunately, he doubted that all of them would be making it to the end of the month without being hospitalised or worse. Officer casualties were becoming a problem. Every kid in the inner city and stuck political freakshow who never had a father to beat the stupidity out of them had collectively chosen now to band together and cause chaos.
They loaded up into cars, pulling away from the pillared front of the Federal Building, tinted windows reflecting the golden sun as it slowly sank behind the monolithic skyline of the city centre.
It would be a long night.
"Sh*t, I left on the bathroom light."

El Cabron stretched and clenched his hand after tossing the last broken baseball bat to the side. His hand hovered around one of the revolvers on his hip as he dealt with the pain of striking what felt like a concrete wall more than a couple times. He finally spoke up for the first time in during the session with a voice sounding like someone poorly imitating Batman, "You may have escaped the authorities Mr.Roock but you haven't escaped us. We know what you were going to do with those children. Now that we have rescued the last one we will leave you be. Don't you dare come for him again." El Cabron patted the head of the small child that was clinging to his leg. The strange child's soft blond hair and light brown skin could barely be felt by Cabron's gloved hand. He turned taking the child's hand in his and the group followed him out.

Dylan watched barely conscious as the armed group of men filed out of his office. The entire building's security was down evidenced by the lack of alarms. Now the final reason he was sent to Scarlet City was walking out of his office with the incel radicalizer who somehow bested his branch of the Secret City Institute. Dylan groaned as more pain set in from his injuries and his vision began to fade.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Casey was in recovery from his surgery as a general burst into the room in his dress blues against the protests of the hospital staff. Casey's surgeon was absent as he was busy doing his magic on Dominic Maddox's near paralyzing wound at his neck. Casey was still recovering his consciousness but his cybernetics took over and allowed him to stand also against the wishes of the hospital staff. He knew what was coming as ASIS had told him that he worked for the Army again. The General was pleased as Casey followed him stumbling slightly. He knew what this was about, he grabbed his medicine as he put on his trench coat to cover his hospital gown. John Martins was in the hallway screaming at a Colonel about the issue when he saw Casey he became quiet. Casey shot him a glance and a couple comforting words to the effect that he had survived through worse before leaving the hospital.

Before long he was loaded on a military cargo airplane back in his US Army fatigues tended by a handful of medics and a medical officer. The plane flew like it hadn't before as it was making all kinds of uncomfortable noises in its minimally maintained state. Several hours later it was touched down in a hastily built airstrip next to rail road tracks that were built with even more haste. Casey stepped off the back ramp refreshed by several hours of sleep and the sheer amount of drugs pumped into his system. He saw the landing strip made for the Black Bullet and muttered under his breath, "It's too short."

The tank situation was explained to him in great detail as he walked into the commander's tent. He agreed to do his part and attempt to negotiate with it before progeny interjected out of turn about the nature of ghosts and the high probability that the "haunted" tank was stuck in a death loop. (Progeny being the nearest "paranormal expert" was there much to the displeasure of military officers who had him forced on them by several different high ranking officials.) The battle in the past made Casey's eyes hazy as he turned from the tent mid briefing ignoring the cries for him to return. He mounted the nearest humvee with a radio pack in his hand displacing sergeant Krakowitz from his seat. The two soldiers raced off with the retired special forces operator into the exclusion zone with several officers cursing Casey off over the radio. Blizzard glared at them from his position sitting on the hood of Progeny's antique Chevelle suffering from his boredom and his feelings of exclusion.

As the tank changed from a speck on the horizon to a looming machine of war with its cannon pointed at the approaching humvee Caleb's nervousness began to show. Casey spoke a few words of encouragement to him as they came to a stop. He carried the radio pack with him as he approached the tank. He spoke several passwords and codes to prove that it was really him. He shared a few greetings with his dear friends before setting his radio's transmit power down to where only him, the tank and the medics could hear. What he said is unknown to this day but it achieved the goals laid out by the commanding officers on the condition that the soldiers trapped in their deathlike state would have a remedy for their condition sought.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Donutman zapped a plate of donuts into existence as he began a class introducing himself while skimming over his experience as a crisis negotiator. Sabina carved for a donut despite her misgivings at the fact that they seemed to appear out of thin air. All the while envy quietly boiled inside her toward the handful of other students from across the country including Kira. They had all the flashy superpowers while all she could do was turn invisible. She hid away her ill feelings and smiled when Kira said something funny about Donutman. A second later Donutman shot a surprise question at Sabina which she answered correctly and quickly to everyone's surprise but hers. The material was simple and easy for her to follow. She looked around the room at all the freaks who had been gathered from across the country who would be shipped back to their sponsoring agents and agencies in a few short weeks. The resources crunch across the country was felt by Sabina even though she didn't know or understand it. The lack of available instructors truly only hinted at the tip of the shortage problem. Sabina had no prior experience to gauge the problems being dealt with by the Federal Super Agency as far as she could tell it was business as usual. She glanced over at a boy who was spinning a smooth round magnet idly on the table. He spotted her and gave her flirtatious glance in response. She went red and looked away, he was cute but she knew that she was out of his league. She thought maybe she could try and help Kira.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Karina came too with Casey standing over her with a forlorn look on his face. She smiled despite the blaring pain of her headache, there was no one she would rather see. It was several days after the incident at the super containment facility and she tried to speak but it came out slurred. Casey spoke to her gently and brought her up to speed on the whole situation. She wanted to get up but Casey restrained her with his good hand. The other hand in a sling looked swollen and sickly. She chocked it up to it being new but didn't think about it too much. She was glad that he was okay as the last thing she remembered was having a marvelous lunch with him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Casey stared at his rudimentary robotic hand with intense anger directed towards his own body. He quietly cursed about his surgeon's handiwork but the issue was beyond his control. Covering it with a long leather glove he usually wore while operating the Black Bullet while the thoughts of his third transplant rejection dragged him down. He wondered how his body could reject his own flesh and blood. The time wasn't nigh for him to ponder such things as tones went out for a move against the criminal element that had been kicking Aimpoint in the ass for an entire week. Casey arrived long before him and the cops, Casey readied himself with the briefing played at ten times speed. He had a month to recover and he was tired of it, he was tired of being told that he couldn't because of his condition. He flip cocked his plasma carbine as he made entry unleashing hell on the criminals inside. One rounded the corner firing full auto for a second before being lobotomized by a bolt of plasma. Another attempted to spring a trap that missed and found himself with a pistol to his head and then it was too late. About five minutes passed and the leader of the criminals found himself suspended by his neck in a robotic vice grip as Aimpoint and many SCPD officers flooded into the warehouse full of bodies and reeling victims of Casey's wrath.

During the months after the attack at the containment facility as Dominic has surgery after surgery, Jack continues to this day operate the armor himself, though the months of supers and other criminals have taken its toll. There is never enough time to issue all the repairs that are mounting, whether that be actual damage or basic maintenance, Let alone being able to recharge the power cells. Jack Has been operating almost 24 / 7 for 2 months straight, and the lack of maintenance is starting to show. Multiple errors are occurring in the memory core, most being low power related errors, and some corruption. The suit was not meant to run in autonomous mode for so long. One of the most recent errors allowed the super to escape custody.
After an hour of rest to put some energy in the power cells, yet another call comes in.
After fully booting up and stepping out of the charging station an error message comes up saying power charge cycle interrupted. Main power cells at 15% emergency power reserves nearing depletion. Jack sluggishly enters the squad room in time for the briefing, and would stand next to Martins. “Reporting for cucum-cum-cumbeeeers.” Jack replied in a slowed tin-like voice as many of the systems are faulting, or offline due to the extremely low power levels, as well as the damage and other maintenance that hasn’t been performed.
–---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dominic Lays in his recovery bed now coming from his third surgery to remove all the fragments of the broken implant from his neck. The doctors have him in a neck brace to avoid ripping his stitches and to give his surgically compromised neck muscles time to recover before having to support the weight of his head. Doctors are uncertain at this time if Dominic would be able to ever walk again let alone pilot his suit. All the reports and medical records of his current treatment will be transferred to Martins being as Chasey is not back from medical leave yet.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After his escape from the Holding facility, for the most part Charles had been laying low, and when he did come out of the shadows, he wore a disguise when he needed food, or when he did some magic shows on street corners for some quick cash. After a while of doing it and moving around to avoid detection. He finds an underground Gang that welcomes him into their ranks as he is the only supers in the group.
