Mildred was in her bunker, trying to get to a piece of metal lodged in an arm piece. Her tongue poked out from her the corner of her mouth as she stretched her fingers. Just as her fingers brushed the cool metal, a loud sound echoed through the area. Letting out a frightened yelp, she pinched her arm on the metal arm. Letting it fall from her grasp, she rubbed the area, making sure to touch the ring with aventurine towards the wound to help speed up the healing just a little and keep the pain down. "Oh all the blasted ways to land, who lands like the sound of a warmachine firing?"

Still rubbing her arm, she stood up and exited the tent. Her thigh pack was a reassuring presence as she stepped out and looked towards the sky. The landing party really couldn't have been that inept could they? A different sound soon followed though and Mildred cursed under her breath. "Yes." Running back into her tent, she retrieve her back pack and favorite staff and ran towards where the fleshpeckers were currently trying to make a meal out of the new arrivals. Least that is what she assumed anyway. The older woman had thought they would be smart enough to avoid the territory of them, but apparently not.

Running towards them, she felt a different kind of heat in the air. Not one from the surrounding molten rock. No. This one was more of a magical type heat. Shaking her head, she charged forward, skidding to a stop just behind the ship. "Hey! Watch it! You technically invaded them first!" Not that yelling would have done much good, but it made her feel better. She hadn't seen the battle, merely the aftermath so she was assuming, once again, that the whole reason for the fight was the fact the fleshpeckers decided they didn't like the intrusion. Watching the burnt and dead birds fall to the ground, she cursed and moved towards the fallen carcass. Waste not, want not. Besides, their beaks might be useful. After all, they could pierce quite a few things.

It was true, the deck of the ship was going to get really dangerous as those beasts drew closer. Mary was no stranger to this sort of situation, though, and would have managed herself just fine using the various forms of cover scattered on the quarterdeck. Still, an order was an order, and she could hardly refuse. "Aye, ma'am!" she succinctly responded, before hurrying abaft, even as she felt the very ambience drain away into magical fire. It could be a little disorienting, but she hadn't spent enough time in the area of effect for it to matter. Her feet carried her down the stairs to the gunnery decks, and she closed the door behind her.

She soon came upon the first officer, to whom she promptly reported the situation above. The crew was already preparing for such an instance, and so mesh netting had been pulled out of the supplies and was being distributed to the gun crews. The officer quickly barked orders to double-time the netting, and Mary moved to help. The netting was affixed to the inner hull, around the cannons. It wouldn't stop a fleshpecker from tearing through it, but it would slow them down long enough to put a bullet through their heads if they tried to make their way inside through the gunports.

This seemed much less stressful than being abovedeck, the Sergeant considered. Sure, she had an officer yelling orders at her at any given time, but she was part of a crew here, rather than being the only person in a group who couldn't use magic or control warpieces. As long as she did her job, here, nobody would really notice her, and that was the way she'd grown accustomed to, in her years of service. Was that really for the best? Well, from her experiences of trying to be an officer, probably.

Suddenly, she heard a strangely familiar voice from outside. Could it be someone from the camp? Moving to the other side of the ship, she gently lifted on the mesh hole that the cannon fit through, and peered beneath. She spotted the woman hustling toward the fallen fleshpecker bodies. She didn't need her scope to see who that was. Though they had never formally met, the two had likely seen eachother around when Mary had been helping to scout the territory the first time around. Mary had gotten the impression that Miss Greon was a little too attached to the wildlife for her own good, while she had probably not given the mechanic much of an impression, if she was remembered at all, as she tended to keep quiet and low-profile when she wasn't in a combat situation. Perhaps she had noticed the steam-powered prosthesis Mary had, despite her attempts to keep it concealed, much as Carrie had.

Still, at this point, it was unlikely Mildred would have spotted her, even if she did know who she was. She was a face sticking out in a mesh in a gunport amidst dozens of other gunports in a rather huge airship. There were still a handful of live, scattered, albeit probably more hesitant fleshpeckers trying to circumvent the fire and gunshots to get themselves a snack. In Stalwart's view, Miss Greon couldn't have picked a worse time to come out and grumble at them and pout over dead birds. Mary pulled her face back and let the mesh close around the cannon again. "Oh, boy. What's she doing?" she quietly wondered. It wouldn't do to yell a caution at her from where Mary was; this would only draw the birds toward the gunports. Then again, she probably somehow, some way, knew exactly what she was doing out there.

Max felt a hand on his shoulder, and then he heard the voice of Judas in his ear.

"I assume you'd be more comfortable using magic, judging from your background. So use it."

Max felt the power of the Caster as he created a ball of fire that grew larger by the second- the words echoed in his head, but he grimaced, remembering the sneering face of his father. He would never be good enough, could never wield magic well enough to live up to the Hendrix name, and he was a fool for thinking otherwise. He took a deep breath and replaced the pistol at his side as the renowned Caster explained the ingrained aversion of wildlife to fire.

The explosion that followed was both effective and perfectly controlled; Max, who had been around magic his entire life, knew true mastery when he saw it. The birds that weren't incinerated were shaken from their purpose, turning away from the ship in a hasty retreat in light of the devastating counterattack. A few more remained, however, seemingly intent upon their meal- or perhaps it was a primal rage that fueled them.

Max raised his own hand, the one fitted with the casting glove, and he watched as a trio of fireballs materialized in front of him, none of them quite so large as the ones that had merged together at Judas' behest. He focused for a moment, and then one zoomed outward, crashing into a bird and exploding on impact as the creature went careening out of the air. It released a screeching wail of pain as it died, and two others that had been flanking it suddenly veered upward, away from the ship and back in the direction from which they had come.

After a moment Max lowered his hand and the two remaining fireballs dissipated; he sighed with regret upon recognizing that the remaining birds he could see did not seem intent on continuing the fight. He would've liked to have been able to properly showcase his ability, to demonstrate some usefulness for the benefit of his peers and superiors, but at the same time he was somewhat relieved. In his mind, his father's voice was much louder than that of Judas.

Judas released his control on the flames, allowing it to dissipate, watching as the birds fled. He watched as Hendrix picked off a bird which and returned for a second try. "Looks like you do better this way." He nodded before striding to the port of the ship, glancing at crew which had begun to reemerge from the depths of the ship to assist in their arrival and disembarkation. Coils of ropes were tossed down before more durable chains were lowered to help keep the ship stable as its passengers left it.

------

Olivia smirked briefly as she saw that the birds were dispersed and were fleeing. Nearly noticing too late that one of them had taken a slightly larger detour and came in from their flank. Her palm snapped up, firing a projectile of frost at it. It caught the creature in the upper joint of its left wing, clinging to it. The ice expanded rapidly, turning into a small block of ice which covered the creature entirely. The block of ice landed on the deck with a dull thump and slid towards her. She caught it with the underside of her foot, peering curiously at it.

For a moment, a brief second, she noticed the bird had a sclera, not the normal black beads. Then the whites vanished. She shrugged, clenching her fist and driving spikes of ice into the creature, splitting its bones and flesh. She stared at the block of ice for a long moment before kicking it to the side.

She caught the sight of Hendrix's arcane abilities but waited for Judas to be out of earshot. She collapsed her helmet before walking up to the other Journeyman, "Don't get cocky rookie." She turned and strode to Judas's side.

Carrie, after gunning down but a single fleshpecker (Whereas Carnivore had about a dozen kills, attributed to its longshot rifle and twin-linked machine cannon) looked over the deck. Offensively, her magical abilities were so-so, her skills being all about healing and mechanics. But seeing Judas, Olivia, and Hendrix, she couldn't help but be impressed. She held little stock in offensive magic - to her, warpieces were the ultimate weapons - but the skills they displayed were certainly on par. Sensing Hendrix's apprehension about casting, and the exchanges between him, Judas, and Olivia, she felt a little sorry for him. She turned to Olivia, leaving any further sentry work to her warpiece. "Oh, cut him some slack. He did well, and you arn't helping his morale much. Trust me when I say that such attitudes belong on the training grounds - out here, social aversion will see you killed." This was not Carrie's first field mission, and something about Olivia nagged at her. Besides, Hendrix had performed well, despite his somewhat clumsy approach to combat.

Mildred dove into the stack of dead and semi dying birds. Any thoughts to what the crew up above might think of her did not cross her mind. Nope, the only thing she was worried about was the sharp beaks she was currently smacking with her weapon. She just needed some of their metal. It wasn't like she had killed them so she saw no problem with taking it. Not to mention, waste not want not and all that jazz about self defense and blah blah blah. In short, she only felt a little bit bad as she dragged out three bodies to take back to camp. This would do. For now anyway.

Moving towards the trees, she looked up to see what the air ship would do exactly. She didn't know how damaged it might have been or if they were just going to try to land here. Either way, she was going to wait to see what would happen before dragging the birds back to camp and tossing them into her tent. Good thing she really didn't have bunkmate yet. She had ran off the last one when she accidentally shocked them both experimenting a new type of battery.

Max mirrored the nod he received from his new mentor, who then moved away from him towards the ship's port side. The older man's recognition showed him that he needed to start trusting himself a bit more- his hesitation to take what should have been the obvious course of action didn't hurt him this time, but who was to say it wouldn't in the future? The field was no place for second-guessing himself, and he was certain that there would be many a danger ahead of him that would dwarf the threat presented by a flock of fleshpeckers. He needed to believe in himself a bit mo-

"Don't get cocky rookie."

Olivia's words carried a cutting edge, and they served to remind him of just how far he had yet to go. He sighed, watching her follow behind Judas, before hearing another female voice nearby, this one carrying a very different tone.

"Oh, cut him some slack. He did well, and you arn't helping his morale much. Trust me when I say that such attitudes belong on the training grounds - out here, social aversion will see you killed."

Max looked gratefully at Carrie, taking heart from her words. She had more field experience than either of them, and he appreciated the sentiments behind her statement. Olivia had given him some feelings of trepidation in terms of the treatment he expected to receive from the others, but Judas and Carrie had both represented startling contrasts to the woman's attitude. In any case, it was a relief to finally get a change of scenery.

Once his feet were on solid ground Max took a deep breath, savoring the moment. Brimstone Gulf might not have the most pristine of reputations, but he was relieved to be off of that ship- it felt like they'd been up in the aircraft for an eternity. He took note of the large, grey trees, wondering what other forms of wildlife waited beyond the ancient fixtures, but for the time being he put his concerns aside as he headed towards the nearby camp.

Once the threat of the carnivorous birds had been vanquished, the ship's crew stood down, and began a more orderly and procedural unloading process. Much like the docks at Steelshire had been, men now quickly hustled off of the gigantic airship, heaving supplies and other paraphernalia out of the holds and into the camp. Other hands were busily working at the vessels many rigs and machines, making her ready to be airborne again for when she needed to be. There was relatively little to do; the airship had sustained almost no damage from their encounter with Redloch thanks to the artillery fire, and the fleshpeckers never tasted a single snip of flesh before they were driven away.

So, Mary was relieved of duty early from the Captain, so that she could sooner take up her assignment as scout. She took up her things and disembarked, yet another average face in a river of average men. She pulled away from the line, however, to approach Mildred. As much as the woman loathed for wild creatures to come to harm unnecessarily, she had a practical sense about their corpses that the Wing Sergeant could appreciate. Being a scout meant that survival in the wild was one of the key skills she'd learned, and that meant using every part of these dead avians that they could. No doubt Miss Greon could use a hand taking care of these things, so she flashed the woman a polite smile before helping to pick up the aftermath of the brief battle.

Unlike some of the others, she felt that their voyage had been all too short. She was used to longer voyages -- typically patrolling missions to defend Steelshire's holdings from the other rival factions. Being on the ground left a whole hemisphere of space unrevealed -- sometimes less, when the foliage became thick. Stalwart very much preferred to be able to see as much as possible. At least, if an airship fell into the magma core, she'd be able to see her death coming. She had to admit, though, that this place had some incredible views. This campsite wasn't one of them, but that was deliberate; geographical cover was a strategic must for a place like this. The more difficult it was to spot from the air or from high ground, the better.

Olivia scowled, "I'm not dead yet, right?" One of her controlled Warpieces turned to face Magispark before she released the bond on the machine. She pushed past Hendrix and followed Judas off the ship. Seriously.

------

The land was part of the large cleared area, largely dominated by ruins of a civilisation long abandoned. The flora had already begun to retake what had been lost during that period of time, presumably right after the Calamity. Cobblestone paths were split open by the roots of trees, moss and vines covered the worn buildings. The outer edges of the ruins were left empty, save for the tallest which were used as watch towers. In the distance, he could see soldiers already marching off to secure the crashed Redloch ship.

Judas beckoned for them to follow him, knowing to go to the command tent for instructions and other advisories. He followed the stream for a bit, following directions of resting footmen to reach an unmarked building. The door was bashed inwards, its lock broken. He entered it, only to be stopped by an entire squad of guards, who barred their progress to the flight of stairs to the next level, "Casters and officers only. You need the documents."

"Right," Judas said, picking out a neatly folded set of papers and passed it to one of the men. Olivia trailed behind them slightly, trying to peek over the shoulders to read the documents. The rest did not slack off as it happened. Probably due to the appearance of a Redloch ship overhead.

About a minute passed, then they returned with the papers. "That seems to be in order. You may proceed."

"They are with me." He gestured to his students and Magispark.

"Of course."

Judas made his way up the flight of stairs uneventfully, entering a floor where the walls were broken down to form a large room. Inside, there were several people who moved around a large map spread over a makeshift table. Near one of the edges, a man who literally stood at least a head higher than most peered circled the map before speaking to some of the others who were beside him.

------

"Oh, and the wildlife on the way gets increasingly hostile and.... diverse as you make your way there." Malandrax drawled, "Try not to draw too much attention to yourselves as a battle with the larger creatures may result in the rails being damaged; something we don't want. Three platoons will work on the defenses while the remaining two rotate shifts for the watch. There should be some sort of encampment sent by a smaller scout team earlier, they have yet to report," He noticed the group of Casters, accompanied by Magispark, clustered near the top of the landing but returned his attention to the lieutenants, "report back, so it may be negligence or something worse. Be sure to give frequent reports. The armored carriage should have returned so you should brief your men along the way. That is all, dismissed."

Carrie made her landing, deciding against pushing the matter with Olivia. Carefully eyeing the camp and its general state of (dis)repair, she mumbled something, but otherwise said nothing. As they reached the checkpoint room, she got a little startled by the soldiers' greeting, but quickly came to her senses. It was a perfectly defensible measure of control, and she knew the papers were in order. After the brief wait, she followed Judas up to the command room. She looked over the room, neither impressed nor disappointed with the command centre. As was her habit, she scanned the room for mechanics in need of maintenance, not really paying much attention to the tall man's words just yet. In this room, she reflected, she must be an odd sight. Dirty, clad in footman's garb, and equipped with not only a toolbelt, but a full field surgeon's kit and caster gloves to boot. She smiled despite herself - then turned his attention towards the tall man. She didn't speak, but awaited instructions from her higher-ups.

Malandax turned towards the group of casters as the men went to prepare for departure, beckoning for them to come over. He made his way around the table to meet them. "Looking well, Caster Magispark." He looked at the lady's apparel, it would certainly draw less attention towards her person compared to the trio who were with her; they were easily identifiable as Casters, especially the young lady. But it wasn't in his best interest to teach, but to command and win. "And you must be Judas," He turned around to face the map, "Anyway, you will be joining up with five companies to take an armored train down here," he traced a finger from a blue wooden block on the map to a smaller block of wood ,"to reinforce a location. They want another staging area to increase our reach."

"So we're there just to oversee the operations? What about our Warpieces?" The unknown male Caster asked.

"Yes, more or less. Nothing should happen, save for the unlikely event that an organized attack would come upon the encampment. As for Warpieces, most of them on-site are mules, so you should go to the depot where they would have a couple of spares." He did not mention the fact that most Steelshire Casters had a personal Warpiece, so dealing with this was a bit strange. "I suspect the train will be leaving soon, so you should see to that you are present when that happens. Any other questions?" He turned from them to move to the side, filling up a document to grant them entry to the station. "This gets you onto the train," He held up the paper, inspecting it and letting the ink dry for a second before folding it into half and passing it to Magispark, "Don't lose it."

Mildred flashed a smile back at the other. Though hers were more out of reflex than anything else. The landing party seemed like a mixed bunch, but she wasn't really judging. After all, they were a mixed bunch here as well. Nothing wrong with that in the end. It often helped them be prepared for worst things that could happen.

Stepping through the area, she came up behind the one that had smiled at her. "So what do you have in mind for the birds?" She was curious as to what Mary was planning. If it was something like what she was doing, she would be more than happy to swap ideas.

Carrie gave a nod to Malandrax. "Commander Grist, you're as elegantly gaunt as ever," she jested. She gave her undivided attention to Malandrax's instructions - should Judas be incapacitated it would fall to her to see them through, after all - but frowned at the mention of on-site machines. She pondered for a moment. Absentmindedly, she took the document handed to her, speaking as she did. "If you don't mind me saying, I've a custom warpiece designed to provide optimal support for my particular role. It's a skirmisher-class, so is it possible to take it along? I've got a field analasys on his performance with a deadline..." The latter was an embellished truth. The deadline clause of the assignment specifically noted that, upon unforseen deployment, the delivery could be delayed without consequence. Even so, Carrie wanted to see it delivered on time. And she didn't want to part with her precious Carnivore.

As the two magicless women carried on, Mary idly looked over one of the carcasses, hearing Mildred's wondering. She offered a casual shrug of indecisiveness, and dismissively mentioned "Salt the meat." It seemed fairly obvious that the meat of the bird ought to be used for something. The Sergeant knew they wouldn't be staying here long, so stewing it or more properly preparing it was probably out of the question. It would just have to serve as rations, if something pulled their squad away from supply lines. Being prepared to survive was an important part of scouting. Beyond the preservation of the meat, though, she wasn't familiar enough with the anatomy of the fleshpecker to know if anything else in its little body would be of use. Considering its size, she suspected not. The feathers would make good insulation, but that would take time and pack space they probably didn't have, and this didn't seem like the sort of place where insulation was necessary.

Once at the tent, Mary would get to work, plucking and cleaning the corpse, and helping Mildred extract the iron bits from the beaks and a few wings. Throughout the process, the blonde sharpshooter remained mostly silent, casually tearing the once voracious beast asunder with a hunting knife. She was rarely the one to start conversation, and just as rarely the one to keep it going. It wasn't that she didn't like Mildred at all; merely that she was a woman of sparing words. She did casually hum a shanty as she worked, marking her for the aircrew she was at heart.

"Yes, you can. But I doubt there would be any major trouble for it to demand a Warpiece. But it would be about five days maximum..." He mused aloud, "Better to be safe than sorry, I guess." Malandrax tapped his collar, "Don't wander too deep into the forest, when things get dark, all the little nasty creatures start popping out of the woodwork at night. We've lost a few to the night even near fortified positions. Take care, all of you." He waved a hand at them before turning his attention to one of his aides.

Judas remained silent while in the building, leading the way to the entrance of the command building. "We'll need supplies. Food and water, unless you want to be foraging; that is not an option." He had roughly remembered where he had spotted the rations center, a building with rows and rows of dried meat hanging off the racks and being packed into small packages for outward bound soldiers. "I'll got to the depot and arrange for some more Warpieces to supplement us. Olivia, you stay with Magispark and do what she says."

------

"Yes sir." Now I got to deal with this lady and do grunt work? What is this ****? Olivia frowned, sighing to herself. She pushed at a pebble with the toe of her boot, flipping it over as she waited in line. Well, better to get in her good books and earn goodwill from it, She told herself. "So, how long have you been with your Warpiece?"

------

Abel sat crossed legged in the middle of an empty grove, his mind stretched out into the various creatures scattered around in the forest around him. In the west, there was a large, overwhelming force of humans which had dug into an abandoned town for fortification against the environment. Northwards of their position, there was a smaller force pushing the treeline back with their machinations. So far he had yet to respond in any real force to these invaders, save for sending what would seem to be the wildlife resisting the invasion. However, that may have to change very soon. It would certainly grant them access to a great amount of humans and of course, tools for their more intelligent members. He ceased his connection, the minds of the others fading out as he seeked out the frogman. I have a job for you.

Carrie gave Judas and Malandrax a salute, then gestured for Olivia to follow suit. She headed out of the command room, answering Olivia's question on the way. Her tone was amiable, far more so than when she had been reprimanding Olivia just a few scant minutes ago. "The first protopype mark of Carnivore's chassis and arnaments were built ten years ago, when I was fresh out of the academy. It didn't work so well with standard shells, however, so I had to spend nearly a year designing a shell that could utilize Carnivore's abilities properly. After that, a year went by to reinforce and manufacture key parts of the chassis, to ensure it had the agility required to make a viable skirmisher-class. Carnivore mk. I saw its first deployment eight years ago, but this is mk. II. The current configuration has been the way it is for three and a half years." As the pair reached the supply warehouse, Carrie exchanged a quick word with the quartermaster, who seemed oddly reluctant to cooperate - right up to the point where Carnivore stood behind Carrie, twin-linked machine guns whirring. After that, Carrie and Olivia were quickly granted all the rations and ammunition they required, loaded onto a mule warpiece near the entrance. Carrie turned to Olivia. "Alright, you puppet the mule, and we'll head to the train and load up. And you can tell me a little more about yourself on the way." Carnivore, now loaded with fresh ammunition (though sadly short on flak rounds, as there were few of them) picked Carrie up and nested her in its arm.

He woke on the floor with his temples pulsing and sending a wave of pain through his skull. Groaning he slowly sat up and grabbed the tankard that sat beside him. He guzzled the contents down when he heard the voice. Closing his eyes to ease the pain and to listen to the noise inside his head. He sat there staring at the back of his eyelids when he noticed he'd fallen back to sleep and jumped a little as he almost fell on his side. Slowly he got to his feet and stretched continuing to listen for this job. He looked around the room and noticed that everything was in shambles. He'd probably gone into a drunken fit and thrown things and broken things. Shrugging as he rubbed his temples "Get on with it." He croaked out before stumbling over to a chair and falling into it. "A man...A Frog needs his rest..." He started to say as he slowly began to fall back into a bliss sleep.

What. Olivia nodded, "Alright." This is stupid. She touched the mule, bonding with its rune-inscripted Shell nearly instantly. The machine hefted the crate of ammunition before following after her. She walked beside Magispark, "I have yet to find a fitting Warpiece myself. Most of them act like a tool rather than a extension of my body. Perhaps something which would let me deal with larger targets when I close in." She shrugs, Not that you would know anything about real combat. "As for myself, I have been a journeyman for almost a year and I have already killed one of my own. Another Journeyman from Redloch. One year should be more than enough for me to prove to Judas that I'm good enough to become a full fledged Warcaster."

"And when that happens, I will find a way to fix this messed up world."

------

"I assume," Abel increased his disembodied voice in the frog's head, "That you were on one of your drunken bouts again. So you would have probably missed the fact that the humans are encroaching on our territory; the place you were last positioned. I want you prepare to resist their advance, once you have cleared your head of the alcohol of course."

He got to his feet, piecing the situation at hand together from the various eyes in the forest. "You'd do well to use the winged creatures to do a scout, though they probably wouldn't do much against their heavy armor."

Daemon eyed the camp from the distance, rubbing under Kain's chin as the Warpiece stood over him. "Well, could be worse," he muttered, drumming a pattern against the padded case hanging down by his side. They seemed to be able to handle themselves, mostly, so at least they wouldn't sitting bait for the animals.

Kain made a uncertain croon as Daemon continued to hesitate, nudging his shoulder gently. His smiled up at the grey wyvern, hoping it looked less queasy than he felt. "Just a job, right? Shall we go meet our clients?" That got him an unhappy chuff of hot air, but Kain followed as closely as he could as Daemon made his way down the hill.

It really said something that they were well within firing distance before the sentries noticed them, practically choking on their tongues as they brought their guns up. Daemon out his hands up in a sign of surrender, calling, "Hey, whoah, no need to get guns involved!" Kain growled, pressing up against his back, close enough he felt the vibrations, "Look, one of you lot hired us- Judas something'? I'm the guide he hired, Daemon."

"What kind of guide needs a Warpiece?!" That the sentry had his finger on the trigger was not reassuring.
"Uhm... Me? Look, can you point the gun somewhere else so Kain doesn't make sentry flambé? 'Cause it's not our fault you didn't see the big damn wyvern coming toward the camp." He sighed.

Once Mildred and Mary had finished preparing the dead birds, the Wing Sergeant began to make her way to the command building to await the return of her caster-heavy group from their orders. Before she'd gotten far, however, she heard shouting voices off toward the perimeter. She unslung her long gun and jogged over. There were no gunshots, yet, but she knew that didn't necessarily mean the situation was alright.

As she pushed through the thick brush, she smelled the smoke of an active warpiece nearby. Stalwart picked up the pace, and when she came within sighting distance, she climbed a tree and found the sentries as well as Daemon and fiercesome-looking accompaniment. "...th' hell?" she quietly whispered to herself. She hadn't been told anything about expecting any more casters. She hadn't arrived soon enough to hear the man's explanation for his presence, but he seemed to be yielding to the sentries despite obviously being more than equipped enough to handle the lot of them. That meant that he, at least, believed he had business here.

So, she quickly descended again and briskly closed the distance, appearing through some brush. "Who's this?" she asked, not bothering to raise her gun to him, or his piece. One of the sentries nervously informed her of what the man had just told them. She matched eyes with him, sizing him up, learning what she could from his appearance and how he carried himself. Her expression was loose, but stern, and her eyes were wickedly sharp.

After a long, appraising moment, she finally spoke again. "Guns down," she told the sentries. "I got this."

She looked back at Daemon once again, and then cocked her head back toward the camp indicatively. She would lead him there, all the while pondering what this meant. She had hoped there would be additions to their party at some point, but adding another caster -- an unaligned caster, at that -- went against anything she'd learned about operations, before. It seemed that, if Daemon was to be believed, Judas was a man who knew how to throw around his influence. She was hardly in a place to question him, however, despite her inner misgivings.

Once they'd arrived in the common area of the camp, she'd turn to her charge. "Leave your warpiece here," she'd instruct, gesturing at Kain briefly. She wasn't about to be responsible for bringing a deadly, unaligned military machine right up to the command structure. If he couldn't handle being separated from his travelling companion, he'd have to wait under guard for her to verify his story with Judas.

Assuming he complied, however, she'd lead him to the old world building where the other casters and the upper echelons of base command were conferring. She knew she still wasn't allowed inside, so instead she spoke to the guards, asking them in her usual laconic way to inform Judas about his guest. While that was carried out, she stood outside with him, patiently.
