Do you get inspired by All Hallow’s Eve, Dia de los Muertos, and Halloween?
Do you feel particularly sadistic toward characters of your creation?
Do you need an outlet for all that extra muse you have floating around during this time of year, watching the horror movie marathons on TV?
Then this is the contest for you!
The genre is simple: Horror, inspired by this festive time of year. Rather than reading the same sort of story, slasher scenes and explosions, we’ve set the parameters a bit…different this year:
Just like in Poe's classic, "The Tell Tale Heart", we ask you write us anything from a killer's perspective...surrounding the fear of getting caught, post-murder. Now for the rules.
1.)We ask that you meet a minimum requirement of 500 words for this scene, but no more than 2500 words.
2.)The story
must be told from the killer's perspective, a play on the "Tell Tale Heart". You can include as much of the actual murder as you'd like, should you so choose, but the fear of getting caught must be included. Without it, the entry is ineligible.
3.)You
cannot use a heart beating as your indicator. Poe's story is merely here for comparison. Anything else you'd like to be heard, seen, tasted or felt, go for it. But not the heartbeat.
4.)The contest starts from the time of this post and runs up through 11:59 PM EST on the 31st of October. Submissions sent to us after that will not be considered.
5.)These stories need be sent to Asteria,
NOT posted on the forum or any other source on the internet to maintain anonymity. Once the date for submission closes, each submission will be posted on this one account, each post given a number and we’ll allow you to decide who wins based on a popular vote via poll.
The winner of this contest receives bragging rights, and a medal to be awarded to their profile, their profile spotlighted on the portal page for the duration of the following month, and the roleplay of your choice spotlighted in the signatures of the staff of
one staff group of your choice to help it gain some exposure.
Any questions, please feel free to PM them to “Asteria”.
Otherwise, happy writings!
