"It is not about understanding what he tells you, it is about understanding what he says about you," Minerva hushed, the wound still fresh. His governess had, over the course of the last few days, come to hold a grudge, and Harry couldn't blame her. However, both Greek startled silent by the sudden sound of horse shoes on cobble stone.
They both turned their heads in the direction of the sound, and both showed different degrees of surprise. Minerva, understanding the change in dynamics, stepped away from Harry, creating a bigger distance between her and the crown prince. From there, she bowed.
Harry, on the other hand, looked closer to gobsmacked. Harry hadn't seen the prince for days; his memory did the striking sight of the prince's fair complexion, next to his pearly horse, little justice.
Over the course of only a few seconds, a small smile had appeared onto Harry's lips - only to then immediately be washed away by an almost flustered look. Even this expression was partially hidden as he, too, bowed for the prince.
"Your Highness," Harry greeted in Latin, having caught on that the prince seemed almost unwilling to speak French to him.
Once Harry straightened his posture, the flustered look had disappeared into pleasant politeness. "I am sorry, I did not expect your presence."

Draco briefly nodded as an acknowledgement to their bows, still keeping his hands on the reins of his horse. He felt a little embarrassed by the fact that this was the second time he was caught off-guard in his riding gear by their honoured guests, but at least he was actually around his horse this time around which made it more acceptable. It seemed like they were on their way to a ride themselves as well, or at least it seemed like Harry was at least.
"Oh please, do not apologise. You are guests here and are as welcome to use the premises as I am," Draco stated with a kind smile, replying in latin as well, gently reaching out to clap his horse on the neck in an attempt to calm it down while he was stuck in conversation. He didn't want to appear rude after all and he found that he didn't much mind the delay to his riding trip. He owed their guests to be polite to them, especially now that his father seemed to refuse to do so.
"You going for a ride yourself?"

Instinctively, Harry glanced at the horse by his side. His expression open and bordering on surprised, almost having forgotten about time and space in the presence of the prince.
"Yes, your Highness," he said once his eyes once again found Draco. His smile relaxed, and so did his grip around the reigns; he allowed the leather to slip between his fingers, only catching it at the very end, fingers catching on the loop.
"He has rested after the journey here," Harry said with the soft contractions of the Latin language, referring to his horse yet not thinking about specifying it. Harry didn't want it to appear as if he had been forced indoors, though it had started to feel like that within only a few days. "Bartholomew has kindly offered to show me the city."
By his side, the horse shifted, though Harry made no attempt to restrain it; as the stallion stepped further away from Harry, Harry's arm thoughtless stretched out to accommodate it. Harry's eyes had not left the prince, and, likewise, his smile had remained. "Are you just returning?"

"Just leaving," Draco corrected their guest, finding it nice to actually get to do some smalltalk done with their honoured guests. He really wanted to get to know Harry better and learn about his customs, but he figured that that could come over time. It was all a little tense, seeing as Draco was the crown prince and thus a lot of things were expected from him; even from foreign guests.
"That is a very lovely gesture from Bartholomew," Draco stated with a kind smile, his sarcasm almost not shining through his voice. He knew that Bartholomew had been made to show the guests their kingdom and he also knew that there was no way that the royal advisor was happy about it. It made Draco very happy to know that someone was actually taking care of their guests and was making sure that they were entertained.
"I hope that you are going to enjoy our beautiful city then."

"Would you care to join us, Your Highness?" How readily Harry answered, offering a question as a response to the prince's comment, almost made it sound as if the beauty of the city depended on whether or not the prince was riding through it. Though, by second thought, Harry did think it would make a difference.
At no point did Harry seem flustered by the possible interpretation of his question, features still pleasantly open and interested. "Bartholomew has only offered to show me, and by his phrasing I worry he doesn't intend to tell me about it."
To say Harry was grinning might be a stretch, but his words were spoken with a clear intention. If Harry could persuade the prince to join him, he was certain he'd enjoy his afternoon that much more.

How readily Harry offered for Draco to join their ride surprised him a little. It probably shouldn't be as surprising as he found it, seeing as Harry was here to learn about the culture and learn about the people, which was easier to do when you actually had someone to talk with. He definitely thought that Harry was right and that Bartholomew was only going to be showing him the city and only answer questions if Harry insisted.
"Alright," Draco said in a soft voice, feeling slightly flustered by how eager Harry seemed to be to have Draco join him. There was something so honest in the way that Harry talked and behaved and it wasn't something Draco was at all used to. "If you don't mind me joining, then I would love to tell you about my city."

Harry's smile widened, feeling almost lucky to hear the prince address the city with such tenderness. "I do not mind at all, Your Highness."
Over the course of the first days at the Louvre keep, Harry had grown weary of he immediate signs of separation between the country and its ruler; Harry was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the prince had enough interest in the city itself to accompany them.
"Bartholomew," he called, eyes still lingering on the prince as he spoke. It was only after the name had left his lips that Harry turned in search for the adviser. The man was standing across the courtyard, already looking at Harry as the Greek met his eye.
The smile remained on his lips as he continued in his softly accented French, the pristine politeness of his Latin getting muddled in the translation. "The prince will be with us."
Even in spite of the distance, Harry could read the look of desperation that flashed across the royal adviser's eyes. It only took him a moment to compose him, taking a step towards the two younger men, yet making no signs of actually wanting to cross the full distance. "Certainly, my prince. Allow me to arrange for an escort before we depart."

The mention of an escort didn't really surprise Draco, he was quite used to that being a part of his life after all, yet he could still feel that his heart fell by the mention of it. He knew that he would have to have an escort with him, especially when he was leaving the castle with another noble man, but sometimes he just really wished that he would be able to go places on his own and not think too much about where he was going and who was with him.
"Right, thank you Bartholomew," Draco said, sounding a lot more natural in the way he communicated when speaking french rather than when he was speaking latin. He felt a little sorry about delaying the trip further though and he really hoped that it wouldn't make Harry change his mind about him tagging along.
He turned his attention towards the Greek again rather than the royal advisor, an apologetic smile on his lips as he switched to latin once more. "I am sorry about that. They get like that whenever I want to go anywhere."

Brief as it might have been, hearing the effortless French of the crown prince sent a thrill down Harry's spine. The moment the prince spoke, Harry's eyes had darted back onto the other man, though the prince was still looking at the adviser. It brought a smile to Harry's face.
It was with some dissatpointment that Harry had to face the fact that there was no getting around speaking in latin. His smile, however, remained almost unaffected as he shifted his stance to yet again face the prince.
"No apologies," Harry did say in French, the corner of his mouth discreetly tugging upward. The grin disappeared as quickly as it came, as the stallion to Harry's side stepped forward towards the prince's mare. With a circular movement of his wrist, Harry once again got a proper hold of the reigns, preventing the horse to step further forward.
"Were you intending to go on a secret ride, Your Highness?" Harry's eyes once again met the prince's as he, this time, phrased the question in Latin. There was almost a tentative tease to his voice, and a definitive one to the smile ghosting across his lips, as carefully testing if he could push what was considered the appropriate tone for their exchanges. "I hope I didn't foil your plan of getting past the guards unnoticed and unaccompanied."

When Harry spoke, Draco looked back at him, unable to keep a soft smile off his lips. There was something so easy and sincere about Harry and it wasn’t something Draco really saw around himself very often. It made sense that most of his interactions with people was marred by formality, yet Draco found it extremely tiresome and predictable.
“Oh I rarely get to go anywhere alone, so I wouldn’t dream of it,” he stated with a polite smile, doing what he could to not let it show that it actually was something that bothered him. It came with living a life that was blessed like his own and he knew that he should feel happy about living the way he did. “I’m just sorry that I’m delaying your trip.”

Harry responded to that with a single nod, thoughtlessly glancing to the horse by his side. He had to actively remind himself that the prince had, undoubtedly, been raised differently than Harry had; Even though Harry himself was bored out of his mind in only 3 days time, Harry shouldn't assume the prince had an issue with constant supervision.
"Of course, Your Highness," Harry answered, a smile still on his lips as he deterred his voice back into superficial politeness. This was to be Harry's third stay with a European royal family, but he should not forget his manners solely because the French prince was the first of his hosts to be the same age as he.
Despite his smile faltered at the prospect of spending another several months virtually on his own, Harry shifted his stance and yet again willed a smile back onto his features. After all, trying to string up a conversation was far easier than having to spend his time in solitude. "Where were you heading yourself, Your Highness?"

Draco shrugged at the question, having mostly intended to just go out and clear his head for a while, but having had no specific end goal in mind. In fact, he had found that the prospect of going for a ride with their Greek guest suited him just fine, having always been curious as to get an outsiders perspective to the way they were living.
“I was just going to go to the forest as I usually do, but this sounds nicer,” he said with a warm smile, not wanting Harry to think that he was being an inconvenience. “I have always wanted to get an outsiders perspective on our beautiful town, so I simply must jump at the chance now that I got it.”

Encouraged by the unmistakable warmth in the prince's smile, Harry's own smile widened. Undeniably relieved by the fact that the prince expressed some interest in aiding Harry's learning, Harry nodded, wanting to express an equal amount of interest.
"If it is anything like what I have already seen, I do not doubt its beauty," Harry answered. While he, on a more personal note, included the fair prince in the beauty he had already experienced, Harry couldn't deny the grandeur of the castle. Reassured by the knowledge that his words would not be considered inappropriate despite its undeniable double meaning, Harry's voice was easy and friendly as he spoke.
Though his eyes had, up until then lingered on the prince's with great interest and attention, something caught Harry's eye. Eyes darting to a point above the prince's shoulder, Harry's lips parted.
"Pardon me, but I believe your cavalry has arrived," he said as his eye's once again returned to the prince, a tentative tease pulling at the corners of his mouth.

Draco couldn’t help but notice Harry’s grin at the comment and thus wondered if there was a double meaning to his words. However, he wasn’t allowed to linger on said thought for very long, because a couple of more guards showed up, which meant that they would finally be able to leave.
“So it seems,” he said with a soft smile, briefly turning his attention to his horse before returning his attention to Harry in front of him. “Lovely, that means we can finally leave.”

Harry limited himself to respond to that with a pleasant smile, knowing deep within that this would inevitably markt he end of their conversation.
Right enough, it didn't take long for the royal advisor to appear by their side.
"My prince," Bartholomew stated in French, offering the prince a bow.
Instinctively, Harry himself took a step backwards, urging the horse by his side to do the same. Though Harry couldn't get himself to mind, it was clear the distinction the advisor made between the two young men, especially in the language in which he adressed the two men; he figured it was easier to accomodate the diffenrence of tone than to take it to heard. As if to give the two French their privacy, Harry glanced away.
"Your escort is ready; we are opening the gates," Bartholomew continued, straightening his back. With an almost unnatural disinterest in looking at the Greek by their side, he continued: "Are there any place you wish to visit?"

“Thank you, Bartholomew,” Draco said in a pleasant voice, even if the sentiment was clearly fake. Draco had never quite liked the royal advisor, but he knew that he had to deal with him, at least until he himself got on the throne and he would be able to push Bartholomew out.
With a practiced ease, something only achievable by someone who had spent more of their childhood on horseback rather than walking, Draco swung himself onto the back of the beautiful, white mare. Draco was very natural on horseback, more so than he was while moving around normally, clearly much happier on the back on his horse than with his normal chores.
“Why don’t we just give him a tour? Show the young man how beautiful our country is.”

For a moment, both Bartholomew's and Harry's eyes were on the prince. The advisor adverted himself, taking a step out of the conversation to better meet the prince's line of sight, now that he was mounted on his horse; Harry's attention was, in turn, once again caught by the prince, transparent interest in the prince's agility.
"Very well," Bartholomew finally spoke, bringing Harry back to reality. There was a restlessness about his voice, almost thoughtlessly taking another step away from the two younger men. "We will start at the Cathedral."
Though the Frenchman hadn't spoken to him, Harry still smiled in response. Appropriately enough, he found, as the royal advisor turned to look properly meet his eyes for the first time in days.
"Horse," the man spoke in crude Greek.
Completely caught off guard, Harry's smile faltered. He had had no issue following the French exchange, and the implications of Bartholomew's choice of approach threatened to make Harry laugh.
"Up," the advisor continued in his same, basic Greek. There was a clear annoyance to his voice, but evidently solely directed towards Harry's lack of understanding. With an upwardmoving gesture towards Harry's horse, the Frenchman finally returned to his native language. "We are departing, sir."
Eventually, a toothy grin grew appeared onto Harry's features, not out of ill will but out of sheer surprise. After days of only speaking short courtesies to him, Harry couldn't have expected a better interaction. Finally, he nodded in understanding.
"Merci," he responded in his accented French, accent hiding some of the laugh in his voice.
For a moment, Harry thought he could see a flash of irritation in Bartholomew's eye, almost expecting him to cuss him out. The advisor, however, kept his composure. With a bow, he excused himself, turning to leave towards his own horse.

Even if Draco knew better than to comment on it, he did notice that Bartholomew’s tone with Harry was in stark contrast to the tone he had with Draco. He wasn’t approving, but he also didn’t want to make comments, because he knew that his father approved and that Bartholomew would just argue that it was because his Greek wasn’t any better than that.
“Thank you, Bartholomew,” Draco said in a polite, yet curt tone. They both knew that they did not like one another, so Draco had never seen the point in pretending to be buddies with the royal advisor. They had to endure one another and that was all they ever did.
“Are you ready?” Draco asked as he turned to look at Harry, his tone decidedly softer compared to how he had been talking to the royal advisor. He was very keen on learning what Harry thought of their country and what it looked like. “Please do share your insights with me as we ride, I am interested in hearing what you think.”

Harry hadn't taken the interaction to heart. He had little rank in his home country as it were, and it such, the disinterest the Frenchman took in grooming him didn't come as too much of a surprise. What did, however, was the kindness audible in the prince's voice.
"Yes," he answered, this time in their neutral Latin. The answer was followed by a delayed yet pleasant smile; one which faltered as Harry moved to mount his horse, too. While not raised on horseback and such unable to match the agility of the French prince, Harry had traveled Europe by hoseback for long enough for it to be a fluid motion.
"I don't believe to have any insight," he answered, voice soft as he once again glanced at the prince. With a tap to his horse's side and a tug of the reins, Harry turned them, better flanking the prince on his mare. This dramatically decreased the distance between them; Harry figured he could touch the prince if he reached an arm out.
Whether it was that realisation or general pleasantness, Harry yet again smiled. "I am here to learn, Your Highness. If any, I will have questions."

Draco hummed softly at that, enticed by how humble Harry seemed to be. The Greek had to be well-travelled, this much Draco knew, so it seemed unlikely to him that he would have no thoughts what so ever on anything in the city.
“I will gladly welcome questions as well,” Draco added with a crooked grin, feeling more than willing to answer any questions that Harry might have about the city and about his country. He was pointedly ignoring Bartholomew, not seeing the point in addressing him at all, seeing as he would serve as nothing but a guide and a chaperone for the two of them. “Any you have have.”
