Centuries ago, in a land much like the japan of ancient times, a great scourge roamed the land, named Tamashii no Mori. Through humanoid in shape, it was in no way human, and wherever it appeared, destruction and chaos soon followed. Whatever survivors there were of it were quite few, but oddly enough, there was always at least one. And to each one, it repeated this line:

"If you wish to to strike me down, remember the feelings you have. Remember them, and come get me."

And many did. And many fell to It's power. And so it continued to roam, taking countless lives.

At the same time, a warrior also roamed the lands, a survivor of the creature. And like many before him, he wished to strike it down, but he knew that such a thing could not be done by himself. So he searched, for powerful allies, to defeat Tamashii no Mori, and return the land to peace.

Short and sweet HERE WE GO

RULES
1: Don't be a jerk to your other Rpers! Be nice, and stuff!
2: None of that godmodding stuff. it is rude! Unless you and the person who owns the character you are godmodding is okay with it!
3: There is no rule 3
4: You can have up to four main dudes, if you so wish! NPCs are unlimited, but don't get /too/ wild with them.

THE SETTING
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_mythology

Joking aside, the long version IS

Decades ago, a hole opened in Japan. A hole that led to Yomi, the underworld, allowing dark and evil spirits to leave and terrorize the land. They caused chaos and destruction, as humanity was powerless to stop them.

Seeing this, the gods lent humanity a bit of their power. Due to this, humanity had reached a new potential, and could, with some training, now perform superhuman feats.

And shoot lighting and ice and stuff like that.

With this, the amount of spirits died down immensely, and humanity became peaceful once more. OF course, there still remains a number of spirits remains, with new ones appearing each day, but humanity now has the power to stop them.

Not much, I know, but I am willing to expand it and take into considering any ideas others might have!
PLAYERS
Anadwen
Eggs
Lord Dragoon

MY DUDE
Name:Raiden Hokkaido
Age: 21
Appearance: He is of average height and size for the time, with brown high and black hair, pulled back and tied up in a high pony tail. He has a rather peaceful look about himself, looking rather lax. His clothing isn't much, just the cloth clothing one usually wears underneath samurai armor, in a white color. He has the shoulder and skirt armor of most samurai, in a light blue with dark blue lighting designs.

Personality: Raiden is a rather focused man, always having a goal in mind and working towards it. Full of energy and determination, he's always active, even down to always tossing and turning in his sleep.

A rather pleasant person to be around in general, he's the sort of person who will stick by your side forever, unless you directly wrong him or others he care about. And even then, unless it was something extreme, he would be willing to talk about it and try to forgive.

Infact, he makes it a rule to try to be as friendly and polite as possible, because he believes a life spent making enemies is a life wasted.

Bio: Not much to say, really! He grew up in a small village, his father a fisherman. When he was eleven, the being known as Tamashii No Mori arrived at his village. This ended poorly for it.

However, the being spared him, and told him to remember the feeling of anger he had. Raiden did so, and swore on that day he would be the one to kill Tamashii no Mori. He then spent the next ten years training and getting ready, knowing it wouldn't be the easiest of fights. However, before he went off to face It, a thought occurred to him. "Why fight it alone?"

He now roams the lands, in search of powerful allies to help him.

Weapons and abilities: He wields two Dai-Nagitanas. Those are Naginata handles with over sized katana blades on them, of course. He also as an affinity for lighting, using it to power up his attacks and launching bolts of lighting.
Other: He has a pet wolf called Elque, who can also harness lighting. And is the size of a truck.

Also, if you have ANY questions bout stuff, let me know!

Name: Tatsuya Hijō ni Surudoi Hirohisa 'Enryuu'
Nicknames: Razor-sharp, Blade demon
Age: 24
Birth date: 1/1
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual

Appearance:
Height: 181 cm/approx 5'11"
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Red, originally pale grey

Hirohisa is a rather pale-skinned man that stands at 181 centimeters and has a lean, yet athletic and muscular figure. He has sharp facial features - his eyes are thin and somewhat tilted, but they have a very light grey color (or at least they used to), and he has tall cheekbones, thin lips, and a prominent and rather creepy smile when he bothers to make a grimace different than an I-will-kill-you frown. However, due to the events of the recent ten years, his eyes changed from their original pale grey hue to a dark, consuming crimson. His hair, a pitch black, completely straight curtain with unruly bangs, hanging to his face, is usually bound into a ponytail at the back of his head, and the strands, too short to get caught by the thread (the bangs) brushed to the side and shadowing his face. He wears solely black, a thick black keikogi over which he wears a wide hakama, the obi being pitch black just as well, with the addition of a high-collared tunic underneath, which, however, lacks sleeves. Using wraps that cover a part of his palms and the backs of his hands, he pins the sleeves down to stop them from getting in the way. Even his tabi and sandals have been dyed black. Over the keikogi and hakama, he often puts a long black haori with sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His right arm is awfully scarred from the knuckles to the shoulder, as if it was torn apart and sewn back up again. At his neck is a black leather string with a small (approx. 3 cm in length) shard of ruby.

Personality:
Likes: Sake, sleeping, spicy food (he puts wasabi on everything), training, cold nights, honorable men
Dislikes: Being underestimated, jokes on behalf of his appearance, wimps, people that give up easily, breaking chopsticks, cheap work
Strength: Great determination and resolve, strong will, high pain resistance, never giving up; he's an excellent fighter and has a natural talent for the art of swordsmanship and martial arts, and the ability to copy a technique by seeing it once or twice almost flawlessly.
Weaknesses: A rude, vulgar, unkind jerk; Hirohisa has no empathy and understanding. Too hot-headed, tends to rush into things without thinking them out first.
Habits: When he's not sleeping, he's training; he always carries his katanas with himself. He has a tendency to drink sake on his own without saying a word.
Quirks: Very quick mood changes; deadpan sarcastic remarks. He calls most people bastards or asswipes even though they've not done anything to him.
Dreams: To see Tamashi no Mori defeated; his sister's soul being finally in peace.
Fears: Losing Akemi's soul; more people close to him dying; not being capable of progressing and failing to become the best warrior.

He's a tough guy that's not gonna put up with anyone's ****. Don't cry in front of him. He will kick you and you will have a real reason to sob. He's foul-mouthed and straight-to-the point, he takes what he wants without asking and he doesn't care about the ifs and buts. To Hirohisa, life is a battlefield and he is determined to beat anyone who raises a sword against him on this battlefield to a bloody pulp. He won't stand being threatened, and if he feels insulted, he will solve the issue with swords and fists, not words. He always plays the devil's advocate and is very distrustful of people - what often makes him rough and harsh to them - but he is very hard on himself, too. He sets himself extremely high bounds and feels obliged to try his hardest at them no matter the prize. If he can't reach it, he will continue trying even if he had to crawl and cough out blood. He's hot-headed and acts quickly, often without thinking much, but has an insane amount of courage, which makes him seem that for a cause he believes in, he'd go into the underworld itself. And enough determination and dedication to return from it, too, although he isn't kind, understanding, tolerant, or empathetic. He's a loner by nature. But the truth is... That he's actually afraid of losing anyone else the same way he lost his sister, and he fears for her soul, which has been bond to his and hardly survives in a small piece of ruby. And thus he built a wall between his heart and the world.

Bio:
Parents' status: Married but deceased
Father: Tatsuya Shojiro, deceased, former head of the Tatsuya clan
Mother: Tatsuya Chisako, deceased
Twin sister: Tatsuya Iwa Mitai ni Katai Akemi 'Sanryuu', deceased/incorporeal
Other relevant family members: N/A
Spouse: N/A
Children: N/A

He was one of a pair of twins, and the older one to be born at the midnight between one year's end and another's beginning, together with his sister, Tatsuya Iwa Mitai ni Katai Akemi 'Sanryuu'. Their father was the head of a powerful clan of warriors - honorable as hell - and assassins - less honorable, but still pretty damn useful. The twins, becoming known rather as Enryuu and Sanryuu, were both gifted with natural talents for fighting that surpassed even other family members, and they were called 'genius children' and 'prodigies'. Sanryuu was the 'day', with the power to create strong rays of light, capable of incinerating their targets, while Enryuu was the 'night' of the two, and his black shadows froze anything they touched. They were experts at martial arts and swordsmanship since early ages, training since they could walk and talk. And they became so good people called them spirits, demons, beings from a different world.

But every man that crafts himself a pair of wings and, believing to be kin with the birds of the sky, flies too high, breaks his wings. Enryuu and Sanryuu - or Hirohisa and Akemi, to call them by their birth names - thought themselves so great that they had no fear at anything anymore. Hirohisa challenged Tamashii no Mori itself. Akemi was wary of the thought, but he was so proud, even though he was only fifteen at the time, that he thought that he can put an end to the being itself if she lends him his strength. She agreed, though reluctantly, and they readied themselves. Tamashii no Mori indeed came, decimating the town on the way, and their father, the leader of the Tatsuya clan, attempted to stop it, but he, too, was killed. Such was the strength of the being. Enryuu and Sanryuu, who did not expect such a speedy attack, were taken by surprise when almost everyone was already dead - in the middle of the night, they weren't ready at all. They stood against Tamashii no Mori, but soon found out their strength wasn't enough; they wouldn't hold their own for enough time. Tamashii no Mori decided to spare Sanryuu, and avoiding the girl attacked Enryuu, but she threw herself before him, and was fatally wounded by the attack. Thus the attack only grazed her brother. Shortly before the moment of her death, however, she bound her soul to her brother's and trapped herself in a ruby pendant. Hirohisa was the sole survivor of the calamity.

He was left utterly hopeless and broken, and thought he, too, was going to die among the ruins, but that wasn't his fate - a samurai found him among the burnt town, and discovering that the boy was still alive, he took him with himself and nursed him back to health. This man was the one that told Hirohisa to stand back up on his feet and stop sulking, and became his sensei, teaching him to fight not with rage, hate and violence as he did before, but with humility and the wish to protect, not destroy aimlessly. Though he could not cool Hirohisa's hot-headed nature completely, he turned him into a different man - a man that realized his own limits and strove to become better from the depths of his heart to protect, not to show off his strength and conquer.

However, Hirohisa found out he lost his ability to create and control black ice after his encounter with Tamashii no Mori. He sacrificed it for the bond of his soul with Akemi, and no longer possessed this marvelous skill. Forced to rely on the strength of his body and the tactics with a sword in his hand, he only trained that much harder to surpass all bounds he set to himself. Only when he first came to fight a real enemy three years later - being ambushed by a small group of bandits while traveling - he found out it was replaced by another. Even though it was dangerous for both his and Akemi's soul, he could reach highly inhuman speed and body density, thus becoming extremely difficult to lay a successful hit on. At that time, both their souls became one, and spilled out into a black shield that encased parts of his body. Eventually, he was able to control it enough for it to spill into black claw-like protrusions from his fingers, and appear on about a half of his body at once, though difficult to sustain.

It, though, seemed that Tamashii no Mori was a sort of his destiny. He encountered it once more, four years ago, when both he and his sensei were staying in a small village. And for the second time, he was sparred, although his sensei was killed, and this time, he almost lost his right arm, trying to protect the man. Another girl that was sparred, the innkeeper that let them rent a room to stay in, found him and helped him recover. Hirohisa remembered his master's words, though, and did not give in to despair for this time; instead, he strove to become better, just like he has sworn to. He became a traveling warrior, someone both widely known and widely feared - the Blade Demon. He still searches for a way to become stronger than before and defeat Tamashii no Mori.

Weapons and abilities:

Katana pair: He wields two wholly black katanas, Uchikudaku and Tsukinuku. Both of them have black hilts and long, slightly curved blades of a very high quality, as light as feathers and as sharp as razors. The only difference between them is that Uchikudaku has a rectangular tsuba, hollow and slightly cracked, missing a piece of its corner, while Tsukinuku's (also hollow) tsuba is circular. He carries both behind his obi.

Lightning-fast: Hirohisa is insanely fast even without activating the black shield. His moves are difficult to track even when he barely tries to move swiftly.
Expert swordsman and martial artist: Just what it says on the cover. Give him a sword or not, he can beat crap up real easy. He's very accurate with hits and fights with no sort of remorse or sympathy.
High pain tolerance: He can take a sword through the liver and still not say a word. Or eat a big piece of wasabi on its own and not flinch at all.
Hunter skills: Hirohisa is fully capable of surviving in the wilds on his own and find food within forests and rivers.
Black shield: By momentarily blending with the soul of his sister, both his strength, speed, and body density is multiplied several times. He can cover up to 60% of his body's surface with an extremely hard shield, which even forms claw-like protrusions from his fingers.

Other: His sister is incorporeal, and thus can't communicate with the outer world; however, he knows what she feels and thinks through the bond between their souls that they share. She's sort of always with him, since he even sleeps with the ruby shard she's trapped in.

late night postins cause i can't fuggin sleep woop woop

Sorry this took so long, I've got three other dudes on the way but ahaha man I've held this up for way too long pls 4giv

Name: Akio Teien

Age: 19

Appearance: Fresh-faced and full of youth, Akio is young and untested in battle. He bears no scars, and has a single tattoo of a cherry blossom flower on the back of his neck. His body has a decent amount of musculature to it, more 'athletic' than 'powerful,' and he has a healthy tan to his skin from all his outside work. His facial structure is overall masculine but immature. His chin is reasonably strong without being chiseled, and he has large brown eyes. His hair isn't too long in the back, but is shaggy all over and is the shade of black most Japanese people naturally have.

His favorite outfit consists of a knee-length, floral-printed pink kimono. The sleeves are long and tight, and it's very well-secured across the waist with a green obi. Bandages covering his stomach can be seen poking out from the front sometimes. He wears a similarly-coloured headband at a slight angle, long in the back. To cover his legs, he wears a pair of thin-legged white hakama, and on his feet, some very normal straw sandals.

Personality: A kind, happy-go-lucky, and lighthearted young man, Akio is one of the friendliest faces anyone could meet. Easy to get along with and quick to befriend, he's a gentle soul in an increasingly harsh world. He's gained a reputation as a healer, one that he gladly accepts, and cares for anyone who might come his way looking for help. And as nice as he is, he's got zero problem with beating someone down if they're threatening the safety of others, and does so with a flair that shows he does, to some extent, enjoy the rush that comes from battle. He can be cocky in a fight, and when sparring, isn't averse to tossing good-natured quips and taunts around. Nature and gardening are two of his favorite things, and he takes immense pride in his skills at decorating his home and garden. In particular, he adores bonsai trees, and makes a good living selling exquisitely beautiful ones.

Bio: As a child, Akio often told tales of his adventures with an imaginary friend. A girl he called Sakura, one who did everything and went everywhere with him. It all seemed like ordinary childhood imagination, until a priest took notice of a spirit that had bound itself to his.

As an infant, Akio was kidnapped and disappeared for a week's time. Nobody knows what happened during his missing time, nor what happened when he was gone. When he returned, he was completely unharmed, and the only difference noted was a small green mark on his skin.

Akio aged, and his connection to Sakura grew stronger. The spirit was not a hostile one, and his parents came to view it as a guardian of sorts. And indeed, she proved herself to be a protective watcher who would stand by him in the most dire of situations. During a later attempted kidnapping by a mysterious attacker, Sakura's power awoke, and the marking on Akio's neck bloomed into a tattoo-like depiction of a flower. Before Akio could be taken, a tree sprung from the ground in front of him, launching the would-be kidnapper into the river to be washed downstream.

Over the years, Akio's bond with Sakura grew, and he began to use her powers in various ways. Building shelters for the homeless, creating medicinal plants to treat the ill, and eventually, making himself a sword, sprouted directly from a tree she grew. He found a drive in life, and realized his potential to change the world and help those who could not help themselves. Together with Sakura, once he was of age, he set off to make the world a better place.

He has yet to encounter Tamashii no Mori, but the knowledge of the looming threat has only encouraged him to go forth and give his aid.

Weapons and abilities: Akio has an aversion to killing, and much prefers to simply knock opponents unconscious. His choice in weapons reflects this, but even something designed to be non-lethal can take a life.

Bokken: Used for fights that are more serious, Akio's main weapon is a bokken that's the standard shape and size for a bladed katana. The tsuba has some neat flower carvings in it, and the wood is exceptionally hard to damage. The thing has taken an immense beating during its time in his ownership. The bokken's 'blade' is made from an unidentified white wood, and has a kanji carved on either side of it near the base, one reading 'Bright,' the other reading 'Garden.'

Sansetsukon: A three-sectioned staff, made of wood and bound together with short chains. They are made of strong red wood, and have flared knobs on the ends of the outer sections. Due to their nature as a blunt force weapon, Akio avoids striking people's heads with the staff, lessening its deadliness, and more commonly uses the weapon to trip people up and bash them into submission. He's quite acrobatic with it, and has used a variety of different techniques with it.

Plant manipulation: As a side effect of sharing his body with a spirit, Akio can control plants in various ways. Vines are commonly used to subdue foes by tying them up, but sprouting a tree to knock someone off their feet or cage them in roots is effective as well. He can also make his sword spontaneously create sakura petals, and has made a habit of doing so towards the end of a fight.

Other: He's a vegetarian. This makes Sakura's powers extremely convenient for long trips.

edit: ANOTHER ONE DOWN who is shamelessly reused

Name: Hiroto Kita, Unrelenting Storm of the North

Age: 38, though he claims to be thousands of years old when boasting about himself

Appearance: Hiroto is a giant of a man, with features resembling an oni. He has very dark brown skin that bears a subdued reddish hue, and a mane of wild, bright red hair. His eyebrows are extremely thick and bushy, growing into the hair on his scalp, and a beard that lines his jaw but leaves his upper lip bare adds to his bestial appearance. Standing at 245 centimeters, he bears an extremely muscular physique that allows him to easily wield gigantic weapons. From his forehead, a pair of upturned horns sprout, and his eyes are gold and catlike. He has tattoos of flowers on his shoulders, biceps, and chest, and a tattoo of a third eye on his forehead. His jaw is very strong, and his lower canine teeth sprout into tusk-like fangs. His ears are long and pointed, and the tips have a tuft of red hair on them.

Hiroto dresses in a pair of billowing black hakama, and around his waist, a loincloth made from the skin of a tiger. It is shaped in a way that covers the back of his legs down to the knees, but leaves the front open for ease of movement. He also wears a jinbaori, made of red and gold cloth and decorated with a flower pattern. On the back, a vertical set of kanji spells out his title, "Unrelenting Storm," and tends to glow brightly when he wills it. He wears no armour on his torso, but in battle he puts on a pair of gauntlets and a kabuto helmet, the faceplate of which is modeled after his own visage. It only covers the lower half of his face. A large sake bottle is often carried on his waist.

Personality: A giant of a man with an even larger personality, Hiroto is firey, loud, and more than a little vain and self-centered. While he's a good guy deep down, it's very deep down, buried beneath layers of gluttony, thirst for battle, and extreme overconfidence. Prone to laughing, shouting long, boastful tirades, and generally making tons of noise in a fight, his presence on the battlefield is unforgettable and impossible to miss. He bears a twisted sense of honor and pragmatism, never backing down from a battle, but fully willing to divert an enemy's attention and fight dirty to win. Outside of fights, he actually does have quite a cultured side. He loves shows of all sorts. Plays, musical concerts, dances, the like. They're some of the only things that shut him up for longer than a few moments, and he's been known to scold others for interrupting them.

Bio: The 'great' oni Daidouji Higashikata once lorded over a small mountain village. She was a vandal, a thief, and overall a huge pain in the ass for everyone who lived in what she called her territory. She challenged anyone who could so much as hold a weapon to a fight, took what she wanted from them, and perhaps worst of all, made ungodly amounts of noise at night.

Dozens of warriors fell beneath her club, broken but never killed. It seemed like her wrath would never be quelled, until a young musician, Hisao Kita, attempted to lull her with music rather than clash with her in battle. While she at first laughed him off, his repeated attempts eventually began to get to her, and she took an intense interest in him.

As time went on, the musician's shows became a greater source of entertainment to her than acting like a menace. She stopped attacking the roads and stealing from the village, so long as Hisao played for her. Over the course of the year, the two bonded, and in a course of events that proved to be quite the surprise to everyone in town, fell in love and married.

Hiroto was born five years later. At this point, Daidouji was content to leave the village to its business, so long as they provided her with a generous amount of sake, and defended it as part of her territory instead of antagonizing it. During Hiroto's early childhood, he took a great interest in his mother's battles, and requested to be taught how to fight.

She obliged, and when he reached adolescence, she whipped him into shape to become a great warrior. Hiroto was put through things that would have killed a normal human child of his age, but it only motivated him to become greater. When he sixteen, and was strong enough to uproot a tree with a single strike, his mother made him his first kanabo from its wood.

It was a momentous time in his life, and he continued to hone himself into the perfect warrior. He did, however, also take time to become well-versed in dancing and musical performance, much to the approval of both of his parents. When they were confident he was fit to be a true warrior, they gave him their blessing to set off into the world and do what he could to defend it.

At first, he did, though he proved to hold a natural bloodlust that often resulted in him interrupting battles, leaping into them from the sidelines and beating down armies of poorly-trained men on whichever side came at him first. It became problematic, but few would stand up to him. His strength in battle was compared to that of a force of nature, and the destruction left in his wake to that of a natural disaster. When the rumors reached his ears, he decided on his title, and became known as the Unrelenting Storm of the North.

His infamy grew, but at the same time, so did his reputation as a solution to problems mere men could not solve. Hiroto's stubborn resolve and strength led to many contracting him as a mercenary, whether for personal gain or for the protection of their people. One village in particular, plagued by the attacks of a tiger youkai, hired him to kill the beast. Hiroto spent the better part of a month engaging in repeated vicious, bloody battles, and finally defeated it after having an immense demon-slaying sword forged for the task. He only took the sword, the youkai's skin, and tattoos as payment.

While he is strong, he is not invincible, and has suffered defeats. He holds people who can beat him in incredibly high regard, and the one who first proved themselves stronger than him has left a lasting impression on his morality. In recent years, he has become a tad less willing to take morally reprehensible jobs, though his primary motivation is still to feel the thrill of battle.

With news of Tamashii no Mori's threat, he has decided to take up arms and slay the being. Not for vengeance, nor to protect others, but simply to prove that a forest can be entirely uprooted by a storm.

Weapons and abilities: He owns three weapons, all of which he is extremely proud of. A greatbow, a kanabo, and a katana-like greatsword of immense proportion.

Bow: His bow, Sora, is a massive wood-and-iron construct that is as large as him. It fires arrows that would be more suited for a ballista, and the immense strength behind each shot is enough to shatter stone walls.

Kanabo: His kanabo, Chikyū, is a heavy steel club with multiple studs along the heaviest part, and on the very tip, a crown of steel spikes. It's his most commonly used weapon of the three, and thus the one he is most skilled with.

Zanbato: His sword, Umi, is an exceptionally large-bladed sword with a long handle. The weapon bears a severe curve towards the end, and even he appears to strain somewhat when using it. The weapon's strikes are comparatively slow, but extremely damaging. A single swing of the blade can tear through multiple beings.

Superhuman strength: As a half-oni, Hiroto is incredibly physically strong. Whether it's swinging around man-sized weapons or punching down walls, if a task needs more brawn than brains, he's the guy to go to.

Berserker rage: Another side-effect of having heritage that involves monstrous ogres, Hiroto gains more power the angrier or more excited he gets. It does, of course, have a drawback. Coming down from a session of the rage is incredibly tiring and stressful, necessitating long rests after particularly intense battles.

Hand to hand combat skill: While a strong weapon certainly aids in crushing and slashing apart enemies, Hiroto doesn't need one to rip a person's limbs off. He's quite good at both wrestling and punching things, owing to his great weight and size.

Image projection: While not exactly a combat-related power, the kanji on his back can produce images of itself, often for dramatic effect during introductions or speeches.

Other: He rides a Kirin as a mount. The two agreed to a contract of service if Hiroto could defeat it in battle. He suplexed it off a cliff. They've worked together since that day.

Admittedly feeling a little inadequate looking at these long profiles, but oh well!

Name: Mitsuhide Nozami

Age: 25

Appearance: A lithe and slightly short young man with fair skin, and somewhat feminine features. With his mid-back length black hair and brown eyes, one could mistake him for a woman with a passing glance, but can tell that he isn't if they pay a little more attention. Generally, he wears a dark blue thigh-length kimono and geta. His hair is tied up into a ponytail using a blue hair-tie, slightly to the side.

Personality: Mitsuhide is someone who always seems to be smiling, in fact most of his expressions involve a smile in some way. Incredibly stubborn, he's someone who is difficult to dissuade and will relentlessly pursue his goals, whether they be immediate (like making sure he lives another day or beating the crap out of whoever is fighting him) or long-term. Despite his stubbornness, he is extremely gentle with children and will often go out of his way to help a kid in need. Loyal to those he calls his friends and family, he will go to hell and back to keep them safe. When he drops his smile however, then the best thing you can do is run like all of hell is at your heels.

Bio: A crossdressing martial artist who, along with his elder sister, runs a small orphanage that watches over children who have been orphaned by Tamashii no Mori's actions. His sister takes care of the children, feeding and housing the kids, while Mitsuhide goes out and earns the money they live off of. His primary source of finances is an odd jobs business (called Yorozuya Mitsu-chan), doing pretty much anything that isn't against his morals for whoever pays. However, the threat of Tamashii no Mori always looms over his head, thinking about what it's done to the children and what it would do without a second thought if it ever makes its way to them. And so, he has decided to begin his own journey to defeat the monster, and save all innocent children.

Weapons and Abilities:
Style and element: Mitsuhide's style focuses primarily on a reactionary defense and harsh attacks, his movements flowing like the water he has as an element. When he uses his element, it's mostly to add a bit more force to his strikes, using his limbs to redirect or even use the opponent's own momentum to carry him out of the way of their attacks. With empathize on the legs, his kicks and footwork are his greatest strengths in a fight.

Other: Nothing worth mentioning!

Name: Sven Law

Age: 28

Appearance: A man of average height and lithe build, with faint scars on his pale skin. His brown hair is incredibly disheveled, as if nothing's ever been done with it besides keeping it short. As for his angular eyes, they are brown and lack any kind of pupil. His outfit is generally composed of a pair of gray hakama, a white kimono top, a white and gray haori, geta, a light blue sash tied around his waist, and a pair of brown layered bamboo armor bracers. Wrapped around his eyes is a white blindfold, long enough to reach the middle of his back.

Personality: Sven is an individual that can be summed up with two words: cool and collected. Often appearing to be stand-offish, little seems to make him lose his calm persona. The kind of person you'd expect to see meditating in his free time, either that or maintaining both his sword and his skills. Despite the fact that he doesn't seem to be the friendly sort, once he's gotten a read on your personality based off of his interactions with you and others who have an opinion of you, he's a brave and loyal individual if he believes you're worthy of it. Taking pride in the skills he's honed over his travels, giving him a good fight is an excellent way to make a good first impression with him. He's also been known to dive headfirst into a situation to protect innocents.

Bio: A traveling swordsman, widely known for his tendencies to head for areas heavily saturated with dangers to protect as many innocents as possible. Having been born blind, Sven had taken up the way of the sword to become strong. His desire to protect the weak, to become strong, to travel and grow, it all originates from one event. While he was young, he was outside of his village for the day to train. When he got back, he found that the town was destroyed, and that the only survivor was almost dead. In the survivor's last breath, he learned who was responsible. Tamashii no Mori came to the village, and slew everyone. Feeling the heat of the flames on his skin, he made his decision. He decided then and there that if it would be the traveler that destroys, he will be the traveler that protects.

Weapons and abilities:
Weapons Sven carries two katana in two black sheaths, one above the other and both of them crossed over each other, on his sash. The first, the one he generally uses, has the usual silvery blade, combined with a brown handle wrapped in black. His second katana, however, is considerably different. Usually kept in its sheath by a combination of paper seals and thread, the blade itself is a blood red. The guard is gold in color and chipped, attached to a black and white handle. This second blade is the one he originally used, a blade that has tasted the blood of demons to the point of thirsting for more. As a result, it is considerably more powerful against demons and the like, and will not allow itself to be sheathed without being stained with blood.
Style and element Sven himself utilizes ice, in combination with his own sword techniques. Speed and technique, those are his strengths, and he will often capitalize on them. His primary usage of his ice element is creating razor-sharp blades of ice as projectiles, or a multitude of plain swords of various sizes and shapes made of ice (ranging anywhere between wakizashi to nodachi), hardened until they are as strong as steel.
Blindness/Sharp Senses Despite the fact that Sven is blind, he's grown used to taking advantage of his other senses. His hearing, sense of smell, touch, and instincts are highly refined. He's quite adept at being aware of his surroundings to the point of noticing things that someone who can see would miss. Amusingly enough, with some scarily accurate guesses, he can make people forget he's blind until he reminds them.

Other: Due to his preferred style, and the way he uses ice, he has earned the title 'Thousand Blades'.

party don't start till bird ninja walks in

SO HAVE ANOTHER

Name: Kazuhira Tengu

Age: 27

Appearance: Kaz is a tall, skinny guy who is very agile, but not overly strong. His muscles are noticeable and quite well-developed, but lack the bulk one would need for real power. Lithe and lightweight, his build compliments his tendencies to jump around, scale walls, and generally move quickly. His skin is a healthy tan shade, and crossed scars line his biceps and forearms due to various mishaps during adolescence. He's got a nice enough face that's rarely seen, and tends to have some amount of stubble on his chin. Both his eyes and his hair are black. His hair is usually kept in a short, spiky cut.

For clothing, he wears a sleeveless gi, which is grey with black lining on the openings, secured with a black obi. The sleeves were torn, leaving the arm holes with a frayed look. On his forearm up to his bicep on his left arm, he wears a wrapping of black bandages. On both, he wears steel gauntlets, taken from a samurai he felled, and a pair of clawed gloves with very sharp fingertips. Baggy black pants stuffed into shinguards cover his legs, and on his feet, he wears a pair of soft-soled black shoes. Around his neck, he wears a white scarf, pinned with a feather-shaped brooch, and wears a face-obscuring mask that covers his jaw, mouth, and nose. It's shaped like a crow's beak, and is carved from polished, black-painted wood. It secures around the back of his head.

Personality: To call Kaz a dumb butthole jerk would be giving him too much slack. He's cocky, opinionated, and thinks he's one of the best swordsmen to grace the land. He doesn't even use swords. Coming across as one of those guys that try way too hard to be cool, it's hard not to find some sense of amusement in his many insults, teases, and taunts. Despite this, he's very level-headed, never raising his voice above a respectful tone, willing to wait and listen to whoever proves themselves worthy of being in charge, and perfectly capable of admitting defeat if it means living another day. Cowardly could be a word loosely applied to him; his fighting style consists of stealth, ambush, and pinpoint accuracy rather than noble dueling. And if a full fight does break out, he'll often retreat and strike from a distance instead of risking his head. In truth, he has some amount of trouble socializing, and tries not to let conversations last longer than a quick exchange. If they do, he becomes awkward and quiet. As a result, he's better at pushing people away than making friends. Being raised by birds doesn't make one good at talking to people. He'll often appear to be talking to himself in private, but in truth, he's simply hitting it off with his pet crow, Reiji. Kaz considers the bird his best friend.

Bio: Orphaned as a child, Kaz spent a few years homeless and alone. When he was 12 years old, he had no money, no food, and no people to turn to. He set a course for Aokigahara, and entered the forest late at night.

Convinced he was going to starve to death, he at least wanted to do so in a nice place. The forest, despite its grim reputation, was incredibly beautiful and serene. As good a place as any to leave the world behind.

He set up camp, and slept until the sun rose. When he opened his eyes, he was met with a terrifying sight. A flock of bird demons, the legendary Tengu that lived in the forest and mountains.

Their leader, Yoshimoto, asked why a child had come to a place so well-known for death. Kaz told them why, and in response, they took him away from the forest to their place of dwelling. While the child understandably could not stop screaming during the flight back, he calmed down considerably after they gave him a place to stay and fed him.

Yoshimoto offered Kaz a place in their flock, so long as he trained with them and acted alongside them. He agreed, and spent the next decade training beneath the flock's warriors. He learned to move like them, and while he could not fly, became extremely agile by human standards.

When he was ready, Kaz joined the flock in their work of assassinations. He excelled at it, but much to Yoshimoto's concern, showed little in the way of remorse. Thankfully, he was not completely without compassion. While out on the road, Kaz found an injured baby bird, and brought it home with him.

The bird, who was soon named Reiji, became Kaz's best closest friend and companion. He grew into an extremely intelligent adult, and with some help from Yoshimoto's magic, the two became bonded mentally.

With Reiji around, Kaz lightened up considerably, and became much more talkative and confident. He began displaying emotion better, though the inherent awkwardness that came from not being raised around humans still affected him.

For years, he continued to work with the flock, but was recently sent off to stand against Tamashii no Mori. He's agreed to do so, and was given Yoshimoto's old mask as a trinket to motivate him on his journey.

Weapons and abilities: Kaz likes small, quick, cutty things. Swords are too big to run around with, and thus he uses mostly weapons for either extreme short range or throwing range.

Claws: The sharp fingertips of his gauntlets can leave nasty scratches, and if he's not punching with metal-covered knuckles, he's ripping with the claws.

Throwing knives: Kaz's knives, of which he has a seemingly infinite amount, are useful for both stabbing and throwing. They are shaped like feathers, and are rather short, so they aren't immediately deadly unless a vital spot is hit. He carries a belt of them across his torso.

Kusarigama: A small sickle on a chain, useful for climbing, stabbing, beating, the like. He uses it both normally, by holding the sickle and swinging the chain around, and 'reversed,' swinging the sickle around instead. Practicing this maneuver has left him with many scars. When doing it, the chain links with small hooks in his gauntlets.

Agility: Kaz is very agile, making things like wallrunning, dodging, and sick jumps all easy to do. He's light on his feet and has good enough balance to walk on a string, and enjoys sitting in high places like branches and scaffolding.

Knife production: Through the use of a spell given to him by his master, he can instantly produce a number of throwing knives, so long as he holds some to base them off of.

Bird's-eye view: Kaz's connection with Reiji goes beyond a simple 'master and pet' relationship. The two can link their minds, allowing Kaz to see through Reiji's eyes and vice versa. It's extremely useful for spying and reactions in battle.

Other: He travels with his pet crow, Reiji. Reiji is a large bird bearing a scar over his eye. His favorite food is berries and mealworms. Also, Tengu isn't his real last name. He doesn't have one.

I can't just do with one character only, can I? besides the party's not complete without that weird quiet noble guy that keeps giving people disapproving looks.

Name: Senbonzakura (real name Ariwa Sen Masayuki)
Nicknames: Hiru to yoru
Age: 29
Birth date: 11/5
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual

Appearance:
Height: 187 centimeters
Hair color: Purple
Eye color: Blue

Senbonzakura is a beautiful... Man. Yes, he is a man, contrary to the popular belief and people labeling him as a tall woman. He is built athletically, yet lean, and he has perfect, porcelain-like pale skin. An elegance that seeps from his entire self is always present, surrounding him like a veil. He looks a tad androgynous, and is easy to mistake for a woman at certain occasions - since he has youthful, a bit effeminate facial features and long hair, while lacking pronounced muscles and facial or body hair. His cheekbones are tall and he has large, dreamy eyes of a deep purple-blue hue, seemingly shimmering with light, and his jaw is only slightly pointed, not being very prominent or strong. He has long eyelashes that line his eyes, and his hair is a peculiar purple color. It appears to be a dark plum-like shade of violet in some light, while other times it appears a much softer and lighter purple hue. It is very long, reaching far below even his bottom, usually worn in a high ponytail with his long bangs brushed slightly to the side and a few strands of hair lining his face by the side. He usually wears a long, dark purple hakama and keikogi, with a thick obi and white undergarments in all but the warmest weathers, and sometimes a dark navy blue haori, simply draped over his shoulders. It's not unusual to see him wearing parts of a white samurai's armor, especially the shoulder-guards and gauntlets.

Personality:
Likes: Swimming, blossoms, spring, early morning walks, soft-flavored food (especially fruit), the wind, law and order, being a good example
Dislikes: Extreme violence, destruction, chaos, law-breaking, being labeled a woman, injustice, fried food
Strength: Extremely perceptive and sensitive; a very collected personality that takes a great lot of things to get fired up. Can feel the life flow of the things around him instinctively and notice danger before it being revealed to the senses. A great sense of finesse and technique.
Weaknesses: Very fragile; prone to depressions and pondering. Too proud for his own good, what sometimes makes him quite hard on others. Has very little empathy for those that annoy him even remotely.
Habits: Walking extremely silently and thus appearing unnoticed on places; taking a lot of walks at almost all occasions.
Quirks: Painting and sketching in secret; he is often found staring in concentration at something many would consider trivial.
Dreams: Peace and order in the lands; to be genuinely loved by someone; to become a good heir to his father and fulfill the promise he gave him
Fears: Dying in chaos; failing

A man of adamant pride, honor, and obedience to the law. He's notoriously stoic, letting on very little emotion even when deeply conflicted, keeping a cool head in just about any situation, and always appearing serene, almost apathetic to his surroundings. He's extremely calm on the outside, and seeing him smile is rarer than seeing a dragon in the wild. He has an extremely strong willpower, which allows him to keep his strong code of honor, and the promises he gave to himself and his father. His honor and pride is put above everything else, and there is nothing he will stop at to protect his pride - not even taking his life. He doesn't forget or forgive his enemies, and even though appearing calm on the outside, deep within he hides a long-suppressed flame.
In battle, he is just as calm as everywhere else, and comes out as almost arrogant by this calm. However, he is very perceptive, and his statements about his opponent are usually justified. He has a tendency not to see his opponent as worth his time and abilities, and thus refrains from putting more effort than he sees necessary for victory, and doesn't 'overkill' battles.
Senbonzakura is a very sensitive and perceptive individual. He has much more emotion to himself than he lets on, and wishes for someone to understand him one day, for someone to love him. He was met with extremely high standards all his life and though he feels compelled to fulfill them, he tends to get gloomy and depressed when thinking about his life, considering it unfulfilled, and has doubts about himself.

Bio:
Parents' status: Married
Father: Ariwa Sen Shunji, deceased
Mother: Ariwa Hiroshi Sakura, deceased
Siblings: N/A
Other relevant family members: N/A
Spouse: N/A
Children: N/A

Sen Masayuki, the son of Sen Shunji, the leader of the old Ariwa house, was a child long expected and greatly wished for. His parents were very excited for their first child's birth, as after many years of trying they finally succeeded in producing an heir, but the birth was complicated, and Sakura, who was of a frail body and small constitution, didn't survive it. Before the child would have been born, she died. With the help of doctors, Sen Masayuki was finally brought out into the light of the world, but the sadness of Sen Shunji was deepened even more - the child was stillborn. His only son was not breathing at the time of his birth. Desperate, his father prayed in the old shrine, which was rumored to be inhabited by a spirit, guarding the flow of life, and his prayers were heard out. In exchange for his own life force, the spirit gave up a part of its own strength to Sen Masayuki, who was raised to life. However, his deep black hair and blue eyes turned to a purple hue at the spirit's influence. In the memory of his mother and the sakura trees, surrounding the shrine, he was given another name - a thousand cherry blossoms, Senbonzakura.

Sen Shunji died four years later, while Sen Masayuki was still just a child - such was the price for giving life to a body that lost its life force. He was raised by the rest of his family and held in high regards, but the boy has always been odd. He was a silent child that no one could understand, a bit distant from everyone around himself. But after a few years, he found an aspect of the spirit's gift becoming increasingly troublesome - he could feel and manipulate the life force of things he touched. It was a skill he never wished for, for it made the flowers around him wilt at one time, while another it made the trees bloom at the end of winter. And despite receiving good and proper education, in both martial arts, swordfighting, and academic disciplines, despite having all the graces needed for a noble, being devoted, proud, and honorable, Senbonzakura was considered strange.

At the age of 15, his uncle suffered a stroke and died. It wasn't much of a special event - old people die from natural cases all the time - but Senbonzakura was struck by it, and in deep shock ran to the shrine, confused and asking the spirit what does this mean, whether it's normal. He begged the spirit to bring him back to life, but he only received an answer that that is impossible. The dead cannot be resurrected. He was possible to be brought back to life, since he had a little of life left within his body, but not his uncle. Besides, was there anyone willing to sacrifice their own life force for him? These answers made him think.

He left his family's residence just three years later, to learn about the world - and find his own self, too - and begun traveling. Senbonzakura soon met with a woman, a martial artist of great skill, who agreed to teach him, and he traveled with her for six years. She taught him not only how to defend himself and fight even without a weapon, but also how to keep peace in his heart and control himself. He held her in high regard all along, and thought he'll be content with traveling with her until he reaches some sort of higher goal.

But he wasn't. She died when he was 26, under unknown circumstances - it looked like she drowned in a river. Senbonzakura was unwilling to return to his family still, since he considered himself not yet ready to take up the heritage of his ancestors and become the new head of the Ariwa house. He didn't wish to rule over land and boss samurais around since he wasn't even sure if he can control his own self enough to do so. That was when he met with the spirit that has inhabited the shrine in his family's lands once more. That meeting gave him the courage to continue on his journey and fulfill the promise and oath he gave to his father on his grave, that he will become a son to be proud of and will lead the family.

Weapons and abilities:

Nodachi: His height makes utilizing a weapon of this size easier than to most, and thus he has achieved marvelous skill with it. It is a long, slightly curved blade with a light brown tsuba in a square shape, adorned by what seems to be blossoms, and a light purple, lavender-colored tsuka. It is kept in a beautifully ornate sheath and usually either behind his obi, or on his back.

Wakizashi pair: A pair of white blades with simple diamond-shaped tsubas and cream-colored, somewhat worn tsukas. They are identical and carried on his left, behind his obi in simple white sheaths.

Expert swordsman: Few match the finesse and accuracy of Senbonzakura when it comes to swordplay. He has excellent technique and abolishes defense and heavy armor in favor of his extremely light and acrobatic movement. Whatever that has a blade can be taken up and used for deadly effect, although his fighting style is said to be unrivaled in beauty.
Martial artist: Very similar to the way he fights with blades, Sen Masayuki can defeat a larger opponent unarmed only using his skill in martial arts. He can exploit the weaknesses of his opponents well and defeat them in a matter of few moments.
Life force flow sensing: Senbonzakura can sense the life flow of all things around him.
Life force flow manipulation: Touch-induced, but upon being in contact with a living thing, he can speed up, slow down, or move the life flow of the thing, in extreme cases even reverse it. It isn't a skill without a toll to be paid for it, though - it makes him frail and takes a high pay on his body, putting strain on him every time he uses it. However, it also makes his own life force flow in a very unnatural way - he doesn't appear to age as much as a normal person would, but it slows down his healing rapidly.
Extreme willpower: Maybe to outweighs his fragility, he has more than great willpower and control over his body. His endurance and stamina is thus heightened just as well, and he is capable to undergo great strain despite lacking a durable body.

Other: He doesn't like to be labeled a woman. Really, don't call him a girl.
