“Come on, you’ll miss it!” The little boy has found a wonderful thing, a great thing; a very mysterious thing deep in the woods near town just a few moments ago. He had told others, but they only laughed at him, since until now there have only been rumors, and now he drags his sister through the darkness. The little boy knew she would believe him at least… “Hurry it up,” he called to his sister, who was struggling to keep up with his pace. She was carrying her favorite stuffed bear and wearing a light blue dress; she was definitely not dressed for running through the woods. She didn’t even have shoes or anything to cover her feet. The little boy didn’t care. His selfishness wanted to figure out what he saw fall, and was displeased with his slow his sister was moving.

“Why did you drag me out here, anyway? Mummy and Daddy said we shouldn’t be out here during the night.”

“It’s not that far. Come on!” He called out again in an encouraging voice.

“Why did we come out here?” his sister responded again, meekly. She was two years younger than he was, only six years old, her high-pitched childish voice seemed to come from all directions even as a whisper. She then added: “Slow down…”

The boy stopped. He spun on his heels to face his sister, look her in the eyes. The boy was out of breath and panting, breathing heavily, his heart racing not only from running but the excitement he felt. There was the biggest grin on his face; he was proud of his discovery. “I’ll tell you why we’re out here! I saw an Angel tonight!”

“Angel? But those are only stories! Angels and Demons are bedtime stories.”

Though the sister didn’t seem convinced, but the boy knew what he saw. He started running again, beckoning his sister to follow. She followed reluctantly. What he saw, it looked like a falling star in a way, perhaps even a meteor or something, leaving behind a trail of feathers. Certainly, it couldn’t be magic? He didn’t know much about magic, but he knew something like that didn’t exist… Though perhaps it was fake, a trick. Could his eyes be playing tricks on him, could it be the work of magic he wondered? No. What he saw was real, it just had to be. And he absolutely had to see it and prove to everyone he was not just some story teller who made things up. He was telling the truth. And once he found the Angel, he would take her back to town and do just that, and then everyone would be sorry they ever doubted him.

With every step he took, the boy’s grin grew wider, satisfied with his little fantasy. He wanted to see her. Would she be beautiful like they say Angels are? Would she have wings of pure white, just like the pictures, story books, and paintings? Such things don’t lie, right, so she had to have pure white wings, long hair, and dark and mysterious eyes. She would be beautiful… She would wear armor and wield a mighty sword, and she would be a brave warrior, swooping in to slay all the nasty demons that dare stand in her way. Yes, this was the ideal Angel… this was exactly what she would be like. It had to be true because he was told as much; adults always know best.

Sadly, the little boy would never get his wish, for what he saw before him crushed him almost completely.

His jaw dropped in a fear stricken awe as the Angel he wanted so badly to see lay dead before him. Her clothes as well as her wings –cream in color, nit pure white like he had imagined– were almost torn completely off, her bones broken, sticking out in places, and her entire torso was split open like something had been ripped from her. There was no armor, no sword. Her frozen countenance held a sad expression plastered upon it which made it look like she had been crying. The Angel’s eyes were wide with fear, however, so perhaps the fear was so great it caused her sorrow. Nonetheless, even in death, covered in blood she was just as beautiful as he’d imagined. He turned to his sister, half mad from the unexpected sight, smiling, and satisfied. “Now do you believe me?” The little boy asked. His voice was shaky from the shock. He was trembling all over; half with fear, half with excitement. He couldn’t believe it! A real Angel before him even if she was dead!

The little boy slowly walked closer to Angel, kneeling down he ran his fingers through her long, red hair. Her body was cold, but her hair was soft. He could have sworn that there was something strange about this, but he disregarded it, not having the mind to comprehend such potential danger. This Angel was dead but he was determined to make her live on, if not physically then mentally. He would still take her back to town, yes, then everyone would believe him!

“I’m getting a bad feeling, let’s leave and go back home before Mummy and Daddy find out we’re missing,” the sister said, sounding both impatient and nonchalant. She tugged on his shirt, but was swatted away, and then pursed her lips. “You promised me an Angel, not a dead person!” She then shouted, hoping to get her brother out of his trance.

In a fit of rage, the little boy faced his sister, slapping her across the face. “Dead person? Don’t you see it? This is no ‘dead person’ this really is an Angel!”

The sister only fell back in tears, said: “I’m telling Mummy you hit me!”And then began to run back towards the town. She began to go down the old path but suddenly something stopped her from advancing.

A large, bird-like shadow loomed in the distance that made both children look in its direction. It was unlike anything both children had seen before, and it was needless to say they were curious. Perhaps it was another Angel? Oh how ignorant the boy was! This was no Angel, but a demon, more than likely the very same one that has been snatching people for quite some time now. It has been in the news, it was the talk of the town, but in his young age the boy never pays much attention to gossip. It was said that a large bird-like monster was snatching people, and then they would be found a few days later with no memory of what happened, usually unscathed. The boy always laughed at this, but little did he know it was going to cost him dearly.

He narrowed his eyes, still trying to make the figure out, when suddenly it moved at an incredible speed, knocking him right on his behind. The little boy stood up as quickly as he could and looked around frantically when he discovered his sister was nowhere to be found, “Sis!” He called out, looking up once he heard her scream his name, asking for his help.

In the moonlight the Demon bird’s outline was more visible, and he took notice that she had his sister in her talons. It was a strangely beautiful sight, seeing such a creature just circle him like that. She was a solid black color, from what he could tell, and covered in feathers like a bird would be but there was also something human about her. Was this another Angel? No, she couldn’t be –the Angel was dead. This… creature, this thing was no Angel. Indeed she was a demon. No Angel would snatch up a little girl like that; ANgels protected people, not kidnapped them.

Something dripped down and landed upon the little boy’s head. At first he thought it was raining, but the thickness of the liquid told him it was blood. Blood from the Angel, or perhaps the bird herself was bleeding? Either way reality settled in quickly for the little boy, almost too quickly for someone his age that he almost couldn’t handle it. The blood had been from his sister. Fear overcame him as he tried to find it in himself to become brave. His sister needed to be rescued.

----

Today had not only been a good day, it had been a great day. Through the price of a few battle wounds she he was able to get her hands on an Angel heart, which was a delicacy to all Demons, and now it seems that human children have let their curiosity get the better of them. When she and the Angel first fought, Sva’alti he knew that the moment the boy, having seen the Angel falling to her death, ran back to town he would eventually return and take the bait. Her waiting as paid off well. Humans were like that, they were curious creatures, too curious for their own good. Over the years she has always been somewhat neutral towards them, but it was not long before they began to amuse her, and despite the fact that she was often quite nice to them her hatred grew.

Judging from the look on the boy’s face he was regretting his decision to come here. The boy began to throw rocks at her, and he was now begging her to bring his sister back.

Rather than intimidated, Sva’alti was simply amused by the way the little boy was reacting to her little game. He was shouting at her, demanding that she bring his sister back to him, and she only flew higher, higher. The little was calling back to him, her voice hoarse from the combination of crying and shouting, wriggling in hopes of freeing herself. This would only make thing worse for them; because the more the girl squirmed the deeper Sva’alti dug her talons. The louder the girl screamed, the higher she flew and farther from the boy, now climbing the nearby pile of rocks where the Angel lay dead.

Curiosity indeed kills the cat and she was not going to let this little boy get away with his childish curiosity. Ah, but what was the real reason she was doing this one may ask. It was simple really: she just wanted to have some fun, especially because of her rare find. She also has not had a decent taste of human blood in quite some time, let a long a child’s. And so with a satisfied smirk, Sva’alti flew off into the night.

Kieth
Supernatural Detective/Detective
15

Kieth was not a normal human by far. His observation skills rivaled that of Sherlock Holmes himself. He had studied and learned most of what he knew by reading up on Sherlock Holmes. He was working in his studio on a case when something told him to head to where his young friend said he was going. Going that way he found the kid crying and took in the scene. From what he could tell it was a very nasty and quick occurance. Investigating the angel and shakes his head. "This angel was torn apart by some sort of large bird. The claw markings indicate a large talon range." He looked around. "Seems your sister was here too unless you borrowed her charm bracelet." he looked around. There was dark feathers nearby and he picked one up. "Hmmm...interesting." He says. Frowning a bit. "Time to go do some more investigation." he says. Looking around and followed an almost unnoticable trail of feathers. Standing on top of the pile of rocks and looked around. He frowns a bit. "This case might be a bit harder to solve than others." He mutters. Looking to the kid. "Hurry back to town. I'll see what I can't find out." he says. Not stopping his traveling to see if the kid even obeyed his words. He stopped and knelt down. Touching a red substance on the ground. "Hmm...blood. Seems either the bird was hurt or the child it carried was." He licks his fingertips. "Human blood. Means it is the child that is injured. Hopefully not dead." He says. Walking until the trail got colder. Shaking his head. "There is much I must find out. Like why a demonic bird was this way in the first place. Why the bird took off with a child. What the angel was doing here." He started to head back while keeping his gaze attached to the ground and his high frequency hearing paying attention to the surroundings.

(hope this is an okay start. Wasn't entirely sure what to start with. ^ _ ^)

The female child continued to make quite a fuss as Sva’alti carried her away from her brother. And even worse, he little boy’s cries could be still be heard because of her sensitive heard. She decided that they would only fall on deaf ears as she paid them no mind. This had been a good day for her… and yet sadly it seems her fun was about to end; it seems a young man was on her trail. Moving fast, he was, and he was certainly not the average human she was use to dealing with.

No this male had a certain air about him and she did not like it. It was the kind of air that told her that, not only was he a detective, but he was well aware of the supernatural –his senses would indeed take him to her lair. She certainly did not want that. But instead of trying to chase the young man away, perhaps she could have a little fun. Humans were almost like toys to her in that sense; a lot of things tend to go right over their heads so she could poke fun right under their noses. Oh how delightful having some human company that was not some useless child would be! And this one would provide her with a lot of amusement, seeing as he was aware of what was said to be unseen.

It was not every day she came across such a person.

Staying in the area, the demon bird lowered her altitude and hovered near a pile of leaves. The girl was biting her leg, carrying on, trying anything to get her to release her until finally she did and the girl fell onto the pile. To prevent the girl from running Sva’alti put her under a sleep spell and then decided to transform into her human form. Her human form was that of tall, thin elderly woman who looked like she has seen better days but still held a hint of beauty. She had long, dark robes, and a hood over her head, hiding her silver hair and dark eyes; the transformation was not perfect, it was never perfect, so such things were necessary.

There was still a very bird-like appearance to her, even in human form. She could not stay in the form for very long either; three or four hours at most. She hated her old age and weakened magic, thanks to that warlock. Nonetheless this form was still useful. The townsfolk were so blind; whenever she showed up in town they just thought she was some crazy old hag who was homeless and had no family to care for her. It was both entertaining and helped her keep a low profile whenever she had to venture into the human world and interact with them.

Kneeling, she began to stroke the child’s hair gingerly, gazing at the deep wounds in the child’s sides with slight satisfaction. If she wanted to she could heal them and make it look like nothing had happened, the girl would wake up, have no memory of what happened, and her life would continue normally. There was something about tonight,, something that told Sva’alti that she should continue having fun with this girl, and await the young man, hoping he would soon discover them. She was brimming with excitement and could not wait to test the young man’s talents.

------

Meanwhile, a few minutes earlier.

The little boy was devastated that he had been so blind. He had failed to look after his sister and now Mummy and Daddy were going to punish him. Mummy especially as scary when she was angry and he did not want to anger her. When the man arrived a sense of relief hit him, but he could not shake the feelings of fear and failure. Eventually he stood up and watched the man examine the scene, wiping his nose on his sleeve as he tried to silence his crying. Was this man some kind of detective? Could he really find his sister?

“Please find her, mister,” the boy said through sobs, speaking only when he thought the man was less deep in thought, and then went back to town as he was told.

Kieth retraced his steps for a moment. Looking to the little boy. "I will. Just don't freak out. Finding things or people is what I do best." He says. Watching the boy go back into town before turning around and retraces his steps in the direction away from town. Coming to the edge of a cliff he looked down over it. Looking ahead then gazes at the valley below. "Hmm...the feathered fiend definitely flew this way." he mutters to himself. He walks around the cliff until he found a downwards slope that was fairly smooth and he could use it as a slide. He walked to it and sat down. Sliding himself down to the bottom of the cliff and onto his feet at the end of it.

He stood up and dusted himself off. Following the thinner and smaller drops of blood. "The size of the blood droplets indicate that while the bird demon went in this direction it was still in the exact height it was traveling before." He was talking to himself of course because interactions with other people were usually not at the top of his priority list. After all most people were so easy to deduce and figure out what they were thinking about. He sensed the demonic bird had lowered its altitude. He was still some distance away but the sound of feathers preparing for descent still faintly caught in his sensitive ears.

Walking he followed the trail of flight feathers and blood droplets. Getting ever closer and around the time the demonic bird hovered near a pile of leaves he was already nearing her location. Of course he was aware that when he got there the demon bird would have probably taken on another guise. Not that it would matter. His powerful observation skills would notice the little things that normally would go unnoticed. He continued walking. Stepping over rough stones and dips in the muddy ground. Nothing stopped him in his quest to find the missing child. And of course find answers to the questions. Those were of high importance as well.

He turned a corner around a rocky cliff that went straight up and stopped. Kneeling down to see a darker and bigger trickling of blood. He followed the normally over looked blood trail and stopped about five feet from the she demon herself. He lifted his gaze and turned the studying gaze to the woman stroking the little girl's hair. He crossed his arms and got a knowing smile. Taking in every feature of the seemingly elderly woman. "So this is the human form of the demonic bird who kidnapped the child whose hair you are so gingerly stroking." He says in a casual way.

"Though I wonder if your so powerful or old of a demon why you can't fully disguise yourself as a human. The structure of your face is still so very birdlike. The eyes are another thing that gives you away. The sharper and thicker nails upon your fingers are more talon like than nail like." He says. Walking casually closer than stops a few feet away and studied her more. "Why are you so excited? The sparkle in your eyes tell me either your excited about something. Highly happy about something. Or even a highly complex combination of the two. I am leading more towards brimming with excitement based on stance and expression alone."

He taps a finger to his lips. "What I don't get is what a demon bird would want with a child. Or why there is a dead angel back in the forest. Or even the reasoning behind this little game you are playing. I am assuming it is a game you play because from my experience with demons, little that it is, demons find toying with humanity to be quite an interesting past time." He shrugs a bit. Tilting his head to the side. "Yet...your wanting something from me...do you not? Or did you merely stop here for some chit chat and a cup of tea? The latter question I highly doubt because that is not usually what a demon wishes from humankind. So that leaves me to come to the conclusion that you decided to swoop lower and wait here for me to find you. That brings about the question of why. Why do such a thing when you could have easily escaped and had me chasing you all around to get back a little girl."

He smiles a bit. "Shocking isn't it how I can perseve and know so much from observations alone...don't you think? So since you wish to play a game I might as well humor you and play along. That is the gentlemanly thing to do after all. Demonic entity or not you are still female no matter which form you wish to take."

It had not taken long for the young man to find her; she would not have expected any less if he really was a skilled detective. The moment he began speaking to her, she stopped stroking the girl’s hair and stood to face him. Her dark eyes followed his every movement as he voiced his little observations, amusing as they were, and showed off his detective skills. It was both satisfying yet also disappointing. Sva’alti liked a challenge and knew this young man could give her one but alas the young man was still human. While she would not deny his talent, and she would give credit where it was due, a small part of her expected more. He was experienced, yes, but she had a feeling that how he was explaining himself now was all that she would get. And that was disappointing. Then again, perhaps this was her way of challenging him, just to even the game out a bit.

After all this would be boring without challenge, for both of them.

“My, you certainly are an insightful young detective,” she said with a half-hearted smile, standing to look the young man in the eye. “You’ve caught me red handed, as they say. For that, I admire your wit.” Her voice had that obvious elderly chime to it, but there was still something very sultry in the way she spoke. Her voice was a further reflection that she has been there and done that; it had a charm to it almost, not quite weary and worn out, still looking for adventure. She was soft spoken, casual, and showed him the same respect he showed her. “It just so happens that I do enjoy tea every now and then. I’m not at all like you humans so it doesn’t quench my thirst at all, but it has a rather delightful taste, wouldn’t you agree?”

“If you want the girl, go ahead and take her, I won’t fight you for her. There’re plenty of others in that town.” She gestured towards the sleeping child. The little girl was badly mauled, but she was fast asleep and probably would not wake up. This was the wonders of magic at its finest: the girl would not wake up until the spell was broken. Now, this does not necessarily mean killing the one who placed the spell, mind you. Sva’alti knew better than that; she was much more experienced than some of the other demons in this area. But would the detective discover her little trick she wondered? Her challenge was evident in her smile, the way she looked at him. The young man was human, but the excitement remained; she wanted him to figure out how to break the sleep spell.

Of course she would not voice it. The young man would need to use his wits. And she was sure that he had plenty of that, from what she has gathered; she did say that she admired his wits. She enjoyed playing tricks, but when she was truthful she meant it.

She backed away from the girl, but kept her eye on the young man, “The Angel heart, assuming you have seen my work, will satisfy me for now. Angel hearts are wonderful snacks, my friend, you should try one sometime.” The more hearts she consumed, the closer she would be to breaking the curse that had been put on her. Damn warlock. She was determined to become stronger and rid the world of that bastard. “Now go on, the girl is yours.”

It was almost funny because she was not nervous or afraid at all. Most demons would strike out and attack any human that stands in their way like a mindless monster. They didn’t have their minds, any sense of reasoning, but she did. She was different from them, obviously, and not just because she was an older demon. She has had a lot of experience with humans to know her place amongst them, even communicate with them easier. After a few bad encounters in her youth she found it easier to just play a long and be nice –and the excitement remained with this encounter indeed. However, it was not like her to relinquish a precious child; a child’s blood was pure, the purer the blood the better the taste, and like an alcoholic craves alcohol she craved this blood. She was a demon through and through, despite her differences from the others.

He watched her dark eyes following his every movement. Did it seem he was showing off his detective skills...yes. Was that actually what he was doing...no. Two could play a game of deception. Skilled detective he was but he was far from normal. Not that he planned to reveal more than a couple of the cards in his hand. No...she would have to guess and learn. She wanted a challenge and a game well she had one. He was making her believe what she was already going to assume...he was human. Or was he? He knew the answer to this but than again he wouldn't be revealing it anytime soon. Not to the lady demon as he was just learning her in this new dance they would begin to play. She expected what he was giving so he was giving it to her.

He actually relished the chance for a challenge. "Insightful? No...those are minor observations my dear demon lady." He says with a smile. Looking her in the eyes. He didn't break gaze more than to look at the sleeping girl a bit. Looking at her again. "It was not just wit that drove me this way. I could have very well refused the boy to find his sister. After all it was not my duty nor my folly under which the girl came to be missing. Finding the girl was merely a means to an entirely different end than what most would assume." He crossed his arms a bit. He was only fifteen in human after all...he had his teenager moments anyways. He noted her tone and remained entirely unaffected by it. He did not the somehow still very sultry tone and the fact she remained soft spoken and casual. True she had kidnapped and most likely planned on killing the girl for food but she had not attacked nor tried to harm the child since. He nodded his head. "It is not my favorite drink in the world but I do partake in it every so often." He admitted. "I prefer mine with a bit of ginseng and honey. Makes it taste very divine...in a manner of speaking."

He nodded the head and noted the fact the child hadn't once stirred. His mind racing. A spell perhaps? If it was a spell it would be no easy task to break it. Demon spells and spells in general weren't high up in his strong suits. True he knew some magic...basic spells and elemental ones...but such things as breaking them was not something he was quite talented at. The challenge would be in figuring out how to break it if that is the case. He was almost certain it was. He looked at her and took in her features. Then looked to the girl. Trying to figure out what type of spell she used. The exact spell would be easier to break if he knew but since he didn't he would have to take the long way about learning how to break it. "Alright I will relieve you of the little girl but only because I promised and didn't really enjoy hearing the screaming all the way near the outskirts of town. Plus an angel falling from the sky brought much intrigue to mind." He says in an off handed way.

Moving closer and stopped a couple of feet away. Looking to the child. "While I know that I have no accomplished the task I told the little boy I would take...the willingness to be so quickly parted with your kidnapped brings to mind the realization that retrieving the child is just the first step in saving her." He gets a smile to his lips. "While most humans find magic to be nothing but shinanigans and trickery...I happen to know magic is very real. So the fact the child hasn't stirred not once or whimpered in pain in her sleep leads me to believe she is under quite the spell." He looked back at Sva'alti. "However...this is not a spell I have seen so breaking it will be quite the challenge. A challenge I really must thank you for. I do enjoy an actual challenge every now and then. People on a whole bore me because everything about them is too easily noted and figured out." He leaned against the tree two feet from her. "You on the other hand are a rubix cube of possibilities, wonderment, and questions. All of which I plan to find out. I haven't had a challenge like this since I went head to head with the youngest son of Satan. That was quite the long go around."

He kept his gaze on the woman in a respectful yet studying way. "I did take note of your handy work. Quite the interesting spectacle. Though it seems you held back more than you wanted to. The angel must not of been of high challenge for the breakage in the rib cage was hardly forced and looked more like he snapped apart like a pretzel rather than someone's bones being torn asunder by a demons talons." He says. Looking at her and walked over to the girl. Standing in front of her but merely to keep the demon woman from changing her mind and retrieving her. He made no move to pick her up yet though. "The child can wait. As I said retrieving the child for a little boy I know nothing about and not even getting paid would only be worthwhile when I have a payment already in mind."

He pointed to her. "Which by the way having a civilized conversation with a demoness of high power and might is quite a payment. So in a way...I got my payment from the little boy by having a reason to chase such an interesting challenge in the first place." He merely spoke what he thought. He had no need for interactions with others because honestly they were too easily predicted. "It isn't easy not fitting in. Other detectives I've met are as simpletonish as the people they help. I prefer to be what I am. They call me an eccentric. What would your opinion on the matter be? Am I eccentric? Or am I merely more than what the eye can see?" he asks. Throwing his own little spin around challenge out there. He wanted to see if she thought he was just a weird human or not. He gets an impish grin on his face. "I accept your challenge of using my wits to save this child from eternal sleep....however now you must figure out if you can riddle out my challenge." He looked at her. "What I can't figure out is what drives you to eat an angel's heart. The last demon I talked into circles revealed that when a demon eats an angel's heart it is to gather more strength and power. I bet there is a force that drives you to become stronger and stronger still." He tilted his head to the side. "You are a challenge in more than just what is issued. What do you see when you study me lady demon?" He asked as he seemed to merely make conversation.

He touched the child's arm without moving his gaze. "Hmmm...never encountered this sort of spell before. Finding the key to solving this riddle will be quite the adventure." He says with an almost delighted tone. Looking the demoness over. Removing his hand. "Looks like I need to do some demon spell research." He says with a clearly excited tone. "However...what else do you wish aside from excitement that I seem to be bringing you?" He asked. Oh he was holding back but he didn't want to show too many cards expecially not too quickly. He turns his attention to the girl. Checking her and searching for some clue. Would it be a feather of the demoness? Or even a drop of her blood? Or maybe a strand of hair from her human form... There was so many things it could be yet he wasn't sure which it was.

She couldn’t help but allow herself to let a smile creep onto her the corners of her lips. The young man was on par with her it seems in the sense that he knew how to play the game and they shared similar strategies. However, the young man was rather vocal about his intentions; this was amusing and she would continue to gather information from what he was telling her. She could pick up little things like that: people’s personalities, how they acted, stuff like that. Even if they didn’t reveal everything they hid up their sleeve. Was this young man trying to throw her off or something, she wondered casually as she continued to study him silently. After all he was not fooled by her and a small part of her had expected that. It seems he has had experience with demons, evident by how he had mentioned the demon he had spoken to about the Angel heart. And what he had mentioned about that Angel had been true, she had been incredibly weak.

Sva’alti would never admit it but that weak Angel almost worried her a bit. She half expected a much stronger, higher ranking Angel to show himself and end her. Higher ranking Angels did have those powers after all; with a single swing of their might sword they can tear her apart. She nearly lost her life to one of those cocky pricks before. She knew better not to mess with them, but sometimes she was tempted to press her luck.

Like with this young man. She laughed softly when he asked what she thought of him, what she saw in him. And for a few moments she actually thought of this while she watched him examine the girl as if he was expecting to find a clue on how to break this curse. Too bad he wouldn’t find anything like a feather or a mark; she always made sure she never left anything behind. This did not mean it was impossible however, don’t get her wrong. Her magic, though weakened, was still very powerful thanks to years of mastery. She was no warlock but there was no doubt that most demons were weaker compared to her full power, and even in her weaker state she had the power of Elder. In the demon world she was known by some of the older demons and they respected her. It was rare for her to see the need to put a lower demon in their place, but when she did she always made sure they got the message.

She was never sloppy with her work.

Or was she? She was getting older after all –perhaps she could have slipped. No that was highly unlikely of her to do. She was careful. She put a lot of thought into her actions always, which was the main reason for her silence. He would make her think she was faltering though she had a feeling he knew better than to fall for that old trick, if he really was as smart as he was portraying. She could yet again be wrong, but it was worth a shot, playing a long with his game. It was indeed been quite some time since she met someone who was as evenly matched… or has she? Damn, maybe she was really getting old after all and that witty bite behind her words was fading out a bit; it that was the case then it was time to sharpen her skills a bit and blow the dust off of that wit.

That being said, this was the approach she took in answering his little question: “All I see is a young, witty, detective who is too loyal and perhaps too curious for his own good. Don’t go in too over your head, my dear.” She smiled wryly. It was such a simple answer but she decided to just leave it at that, perhaps her way of holding back in a sense. “I do wish you luck breaking the girl’s curse.”

Unfortunately her sarcasm seemed to go right over the male’s head, unless that’s what he wanted her to think. Her comment about the tea was a good example of this, but then perhaps it was his way of being on par with her. It was amusing either way since most humans were not clever as this one. He was a challenge, and she accepted it. But could he really keep up with her? Time would tell, after all he did have until she felt the urge to feed again. And she wondered… perhaps that boy would serve as the girl’s replacement when that time came.

He watched the smile creep onto her lips and pondered upon it a bit. He was indeed on par and probably did share similar strategies. He, however, was not going to reveal such important information to the demon woman in front of him. He was trying to throw her off but didn't realy expect it towork or happen very easily. However, he was not the type to give up or give in. He merely studied her back and tried to see if he could figure out how she worked. What made her tick? What interested her in him was still such a big mystery. It was, even if he didn't show it, confusing yet enticing all at the same time. He knew she had expected stronger most demons did. He still wondered what drove her to kill angels just for their hearts.

He heard her laughing but what he had asked was a serious question. He said nothing about her laughing though as it was not of any interest to him. He watched her seem to have some internal thought and process. He looked at her and had absolutely no expression on his face. "Too loyal?" He parrots. Smiling impishly. "Such an interesting concept and perception you have on me. Such tantalizing perspective." He says simply. "Too curious? No. I highly doubt I am too curious as to be curious is to have the drive to find the solution to a problem." He shrugged a bit. "I will attempt the puzzle solving but even should I fail to break her curse its not really my issue. This is her brothers and their families issue. If I take it upon myself to waste precious time trying to solve their issue that is on me. However, I know nothing of this spell and will have to investigate it further. Will be a bit fun I admit to try to solve your magical puzzle."

Sarcasm did not go right over his head but that is what he wanted her to think. Hence why he used it merely as a means to hold conversation rather than taking it seriously. It would take a lot more than sarcasm to ruffle his feathers. He would not make a very good meal because unlike the girl he could protect himself from her hungry strikes. He would play this game but knew it was only a matter of time before she grew too hungry or too bored to keep up this game. He said nothing and merely watched her for a very long moment. "I know the clock is ticking but what conversation do the hands hold at noon and midnight?" He says in a riddlistic way.

Oh how funny it was that the young man was playing right into her hands. Or perhaps they were playing into each other’s hands, and that amused her. As much as he tried to mask his true personality, and he did do rather well she’d give him that much, he was still revealed much more to her than the eye could see. She eyed him casually, taking note he was trying to seem and absent and closed off as possible. But that was exactly as she expected and it brought to her more disappointment. It seems she would have to try harder in order see what he had to hide and how far he would go to keep his deepest secrets hidden away from her. However, she had no interest in figuring him out completely; while he did amuse her, she could tell he had more interest in her in the sense of figuring things out. He has told her this clearly. Why else would he go through these extents of hiding innings from her, trying to put her on the wrong track?

But she knew better than to fill her mind with such things. That was just what he wanted after all, she could see right through the trickery to that extent at least. If she was not bound by this curse she would be picking away at his sanity with her cryptic ways, diving deep into his mind to find out what he was hiding, and if she were younger she would be getting much more enjoyment out of this little game of his. Oh how her malice towards that warlock continued to grow. She blamed her old age more than the warlock, blamed herself for not taking him seriously. Powerful people were only powerful if they did not make it obvious after all; she was certain that the young man had some degree of power even if it wasn’t the power of a warlock. And that was why she knew better than to get angry with his half answers so to speak or even question him. She was calm and nonchalant, unwavering, she was certainly not afraid of him in any way. He had shown the same to her, that fearlessness.

And what exactly would it take for her to make him falter she wondered. And does he think she gave such a silly answer to his question on purpose? She certainly was not stupid. Very easily, he could have turned away from this task and went home, leaving the girl behind. He could have gone home but here he was conversing with her. She could lash out and sink her talons into his neck, but killing her only means of entertainment was stupid. Perhaps it was best, she decided, to see why he was interested in her.

Easy come easy go as they say.

“Oh you humans and your time,” she said playfully, commenting on the question rather than giving an answer, assuming this was not rhetorical playfulness. A part of her felt the question was rhetorical anyway, simply by its cryptic nature. “I have all the time in the world but you, my new friend, will eventually rot away along with the rest of the worthless beings who crawl around this planet.” She decided to subtly change tactics, though what exactly as running through her mind this time, well this was up to him to decide. “Time is something that binds us all, nothing is completely free of its restraints. Including myself as you can clearly see.” She added, mentioning her old age. While it was true that she was immortal, her weakened powers allow signs of old age to slowly take her. Unlike some stronger demons her age, she didn’t look like she was in her mid thirties. She was bound to this appearance, of an old woman, for as long as she lived.

And how would one go about killing a bird demon? Well, that might be something for later.

She studied him again, taking note in every reaction he could possibly have no matter how small. “And I find it odd that someone like you has never seen a curse like this. It’s a shame. Here I thought you were different than most I’ve come across. It seems perhaps I have been proven wrong.” Sva’alti suddenly gazed at the sleeping girl, daring to both poke fun and further challenge the young man she said, “This curse interests you, may even prove to be a challenge, but I’m not sure you have what it takes to break it. If that is the case, I’ll be taking her with me as she will prove to be a valuable snack.”

But she made no motion towards the girl, make any attempt to fly off with her, or even kill her. She remained where she stood. Keeping an eye on the young man, waiting for what he had to say next. This game was far from over; nobody said she was done with him. And she was sure the young man still wished to continue on as well.
