The Place: Clarke Quay, Singapore
The Time: 1930 hrs

"So this is Singapore," A diminutive Japanese teen with brown eyes and black hair done up in a pair of twin tails and dressed in a black-and-white lolita-inspired dress mused as she walked through the busy lanes of Clarke Quay, weaving her way past the milling throngs of pedestrians and shoppers with a cartoony-looking green penguin tagging along next to her as she walked wing-in-hand, observing the passers-by and the neon lights of the various nightclubs and restaurants in the district. In Singapore's colonial days, before the construction of the seaport boats would transport cargo from larger cargo ships docked out at sea, unloading them here. Many of these colonial-era buildings still stand thanks to heritage and cultural conservation efforts, and in modern times have since been restored and refurbished into nightclubs and eateries, the district being a hotspot for nightlife activity in the island republic. At least, that was the information that Muchiko was able to learn about Clarke Quay based on what she'd browsed on the internet. She'd no idea why Pentaro-kun decided to come here out of all places, being completely unfamiliar with the place or its culture; but ever since she escaped from the mental institution, the Japanese teen was grateful for every opportunity to see new places and things in the world - plus, in an unfamiliar place like this there was also less likelihood of running into people who might know that she was in fact a runaway mental patient and thus would try to turn her over to the authorities, which would no doubt mean going back into that terrible, terrible place.

"Eh, Pentaro-kun? What is it?" Muchiko asked as she felt a sudden tug on her hand, causing the girl to stop in her tracks and turn her attention to her chibi animal companion, who looked up at Muchiko as he patted his belly with his other wing before pointing at his open beak. "Oh, Pentaro-kun is hungry? Come on then, let's find some place where we can find something to eat... you want filet mignon right?" Muchiko asked, with the penguin responding with a nod of his head. "Okay, now let's see... should we ask for directions?" the Japanese teen wondered, realizing that she couldn't read any of the English signs.

Half an hour later...

"Is there not a single Japanese-speaker around here?" Muchiko grumbled as she sat on a nearby railing overlooking the Singapore River with a pouting expression, resting her cheeks on her hands with her elbows on her lap, her dangling legs covered in black tights swinging idly as she watched the water lapping against the embankments while Pentaro-kun sat right next to her in the same posture. As the Japanese teen sat brooding, she would fail to notice an approaching young man walk past her, eyeing the black leather-bound briefcase that was resting next to where she was sitting. Checking out the street directory in her hand, Muchiko was half-tempted to approach the Japanese Embassy, but wasn't sure if that was the wisest move especially if they found out that she was a mental institution escapee. It was at this point, from the corner of her eye did Muchiko notice a young man in a black hoodie and blue jeans swipe her briefcase - it was where her money and other necessities that Pentaro-kun had acquired for her were kept!

"HEY!" Muchiko shouted, pointing to the thief - and upon realizing the owner of the briefcase he was trying to steal had caught him in the act, said man would break into a sprint, attempting to lose Muchiko in the crowd. "Pentaro-kun! Stop him!" The Japanese teen exclaimed, jumping off the railing and pointing to the escaping thief, drawing curious stares from passers-by as the girl seemed to be talking to thin air. With an enraged squawk, Pentaro-kun shifted into his combat form and thus revealing his existence to everyone in the area, as with a flash a giant green cartoon penguin seemingly appeared out of thin air, flexing his wings. "Excuse me! Excuse me!" Muchiko yelped, repeating pretty much two of the few English words she knew as she ran after Pentaro-kun as the giant penguin embarked on a warpath to get back Muchiko's stolen briefcase, smashing tables and furniture in the Alfresco dining areas.

"Gomenasai!" Muchiko apologized, repeating a string of "excuse me's" and "sorry's" like a broken record as furniture was smashed, food was sent flying and people were sent screaming and running as the bustling nightlife scene became a panicked stampede as diners and pedestrians bumped into and scrambled over each other - some even resorting to jumping over the railings and into the river - in a desperate attempt to get out of the way of a raging cartoon avian who was hell-bent on getting some payback over the injustice and indignity that his friend had suffered! "Pentaro-kun! No!" Muchiko called out as she pushed her way against the tide of bodies to keep up with her avian companion, who was at this time out of earshot. If nobody stopped Pentaro-kun's rampage, who knows how much destruction he might cause!?

Kaito Ishida, adorned in a black Gi with sandals knelt in the soil near an open air market at the Shanghai Quay. The clock rang seven tones about a half hour ago. He placed the wicker basket before himself. He inspected the contents of the basket. They smelled heavenly and were sure to be looked upon favorably by the Gods of War and Water.

He knew why he was there. It was not confusing to him why he was there. He was destined to fight. He did not know why; just that he had to fight someone. He preferred to help others, more of a pacifist than a warrior, but willing to do what needed to be done. He espoused the disciplined air of professionalism. The people he worked more hired him to do a job. He was going to do it. They told him, he would know when his opponent arrived because the opponent would appear to be dramatically out of place.

A few blocks ahead of the rampaging cartoon character that was Pentaro-kun, Kaito Ishida, recently arriving from Kyoto, Japan knelt before the wicker basket. The basket would serve as an offering to the Shinto Gods Hachiman and Suijin. Hachiman-shin was the god of war and divine protector of Japan and its people. Knowing he was about to engage in combat, it was only customary to offer up tribute to the Kami Hachiman and as always, to Kami Suijin, the God of water whom Kaito always served. Kaito often prayed to Suijin, but would include Hachiman when aware of impending danger.

The very colorful fuzzy green fifteen-foot tall green chibi animated penguin was very much out of place at the Shanghai Quay. Kaito's admiration for the the beauty of this heavily populated Chinese city was interrupted by this absurd abomination. The evening had been so peaceful; the air tranquil with a fresh smell of ocean wafting through the air.

A young Chinese man, unknown to Kaito ran past the 22-year old Japanese man. As though obligated to prepare for the impending fight, he rose to his feet and thought, 'Nympha Adsignatos surge' as he tapped his bō staff upon the ground. A bright light erupted from the ground next to where Kaito Ishida stood. The light shot upwards into the sky like a twelve-inch wide beacon searching the heavens for signs of life. From this beacon of light, a wellspring bubbled up from the ground and shot upwards roughly seven feet into the air. The bubbling water emitted a cloudy vapor, which provided a misty facade in front of where Kaito stood concealing the location of where the running man passed. From the cloudy vapor stood a seven-foot tall liquid man; well formed, shaped as a fighter, but fluid in nature.

The familiar appeared to have sinews of steel, with a light blue color surrounding the entity. As the Water Spirit formed, it immediately began to form a barrier of rushing water along the path the cartoon penguin was charging. The wicker basket placed on the ground rested about ten meters in front of the wall of water. Kaito focused his energies and passed harmlessly through the water barrier and stood between the basket and the water.

Kaito began a dance or Kata with his bō staff, moving from spinning hurricane kick to double round kicks to moves with the staff flailing in front of him. As he flipped past the basket, he removed the blanket covering the thirty pounds of fresh meats of various sorts; fish, chicken, beef and ham, including filet mignon. The smells were alluring; but they were there for the Shinto Gods. But if a fight was in the making, Kaito Ishida of Kyoto, Japan was prepared.

"Teishi!" Kaito commanded to Pentaro-kun as he approached. [Tr.: Halt!]

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes. "

Out of earshot of Muchiko, there seemed to be no stopping Pentaro-kun's rampage, the giant cartoon avian being one to respond to only one human voice in the world, that said voice would be none other than Muchiko's. Meanwhile, many a panicked shopper and diner were frantically making calls to the police, although unfortunately there would be no police intervention coming soon as the 999 operators found themselves swamped by a barrage of "prank calls" coming from Clarke Quay regarding a rampaging giant penguin.

Miraculously, Pentaro-kun came skidding to a halt, offering the crowds a brief respite from his rampage as he glanced around, not paying attention to the water elemental nearby, or to the young Japanese man who shouted halt, the cartoon avian's beak twitching up and down as he sniffed the air, before his gaze wandered towards... the basket. There was no denying it, as Pentaro-kun smelled food - meat of various kinds were kept in the wicker basket. But there was one smell in particular that stood out from the rest for Pentaro-kun, and that would be the smell of filet mignon!

Elated by the discovery, Pentaro-kun squawked excitedly, his eyes displaying a pair of filet mignon steaks where the pupils used to be as he jumped into the air clapping his wings and clicking his feet together, before making a beeline for the offering basket with a trail of hearts floating above his head!

"Pentaro-kun? Pentaro-kun where are you!?" Muchiko shouted as she found herself fighting a losing battle against the tide of fleeing diners and shoppers as she found herself being pushed further and further away from her avian companion!
