The Chief of the Enforcers was nervous. Tani could tell because he smoked is pipe more, and mumbled to himself. All that Tani could drag out of him as far as answers, though, was that “there’s something happening in Bordertown, and it’s hidden. And hidden things can’t be good news for us.”

It was with these thoughts and an uncertainly of how best to help her Chief that Tani began her rounds. She stepped out of the Enforcer’s headquarters, a magically and structurally enhanced gray stone building located on the edge of the river just inside of Star Gate. It was a place for office business, a place to place requests as far as controlling chaos was concerned, and a place for holding ruffians who refused to keep the peace. It was a careful balancing act that the Enforcers played between the different cultures. In order to join the force, Tani had been required to memorize lists of facts about various races and beliefs found more commonly inside the city’s walls and still she came across surprises every now and then.

With calculating marching steps Tani made her way to the Market Town square. Once there she took up post off to one side and kept herself alert. She would stay there during the square’s busiest time before moving on with her rounds. That was, of course, unless something disturbed the peace. She watched as people milled about, going from stall to stall buying foods and goods and knew that so far everything was will with this gentle chaos. If that were to change, she was prepared. On one hip hung her falchion, a sword with a slightly curved blade, and on the other hip was her pistol. In a bag across her back she had copies of maps of Bordertown, and various pieces of documentation on what required being Enforced and what did not, so that she could present information to New Arrivals and present proof to those that might protesting her actions when she went to enforce the peace.

Somewhere in the market town square an orb of light appeared and began to grow to about the size for a normal human to walk through, as this strange occurrence happened the physical laws near it seemed to constantly change anything close enough started to produce light even the ground near it seemed to give of light though the plants seemed to be affected the most. Once the orb reached a certain size an image appeared within one of a forest with trees covered in constantly burning leaves, giant burning webs and smoke that now began billowing from the orb towards the sky. After 5 minutes of the image appearing a robed figure appeared who immediately walked out of the orb's image causing the now obvious portal to vanish along with any effect it had on its area.

The robed creature removed his hood revealing it to be a human with fiery short red hair and blazing red eyes. "So this is the dimension I've been tasked to explore? Looks kinda like home only without things like lantern trees and Blazesilks." Said Thesil as he looked around keeping a hand on the hilt of what was known as a blade plant, and possibly catching a some of the stares he was most likely getting form his entrance.

A hooded, mysterious figure stands in the corner of the market square, quietly observing the plethora of creatures walking, scuttling, and creeping about. His lower face can just be made out, but beyond that, the red, tattered cloth of his oddly plain cloak conceals all else. The careful and meticulous movement of his head is the only thing keeping him from being confused with a statue. His rather plain appearance seems to be effective and allowing him to "blend into the background", so to speak. All this is rather noticeable for those with a trained eye, but the man isn't all that worried about it.

Aneron, deciding that he had seen enough, quickly turns away from the busy marketplace and skulks into a back alley, as inconspicuous as possible.

"No need to draw unwanted attention, I suppose." He thinks to himself.

A small black cube, slightly larger than a grown man's fist, floated quietly at knee-level along the streets of the streets of the Seventh Circle. It weaved through the legs of larger humans and humanoids, only stopping when reaching a signpost at a stone bridge that spanned a small river that flowed through the city.

"Markettown. Technology may not function normally in this district," an electronic voice sounded out quietly from the box itself. Orpheus had spent so much time in the company of humans and stranger folk that he occasionally voiced his thoughts aloud. He imagined himself a smile; perhaps one day, he would be completely human. Or at least human enough to not be trapped in a lost-and-found box for a day. Those were memories that he shuddered upon recollection, and could never summon up the courage and processing power to delete.

But his processes went back to Markettown. Orpheus experimented whenever he had free time; he would enter the borders of Markettown and simply attempt to maintain computing sanity. If 1+1 failed to add up to 2, more complicated processes could barely function properly. It took him weeks of practice, but at the cost of more processing power, Orpheus could maintain 99.9999% functionality within the worst of magical times in Markettown.

"I went into Markettown as an AI and only contemplated global thermonuclear warfare 27 times. Thank WarGames for Tic-Tac-Toe," snarked Orpheus. He lowered himself onto the ground and sprouted wheels, rolling across the bridge with a few squeaks.

Perhaps he needed to oil himself later.

A small shock jolted his mechanical mind as his wheels rolled him into Markettown. It felt like the worst of times, at least for him, in Markettown, and a great relief that his mental functions weren't as impaired as he expected. His energy reserves were burning up at a greater rate though.

His little wheels spun with greater ferocity, but as he rolled into a small puddle, his wheels skidded. The cube flipped over and slid down the other end of the bridge, smacking lightly into the boots of a female guard.

Mentally, Orpheus had descended into panic, though the cube's actions showed nothing of that sort. He recovered quickly, though, at the same time his cube ascended and put himself the right way up.

"Sorry about that!" With a small flicker, the holographic projector on himself went to work, sprouting out a full-size image of his 'human' form, smiling as apologetically as possible, to Tani. Orpheus was taller than her, though the brown-haired woman in front of him had an athletic figure that most would kill for. And she probably could kick his cube across the bridge if she tried.

Tani watched the New Arrival’s dramatic entrance. While there was a sort of flare to it that caused plenty of people to stop and stare at the portal opened into the market, Tani searched her internal mechanisms for knowledge and found that the entrance caused no proper threat to the peace of Bordertown. It was simply a bit of a surprise and a bit of something that they would be able to gossip about for the rest of the day. Reaching into her back, she pulled out one of the maps of Bordertown and was about to greet the New Arrival.

Before she could take a step towards him, however, a small black cube on wheels ran into her boot. Looking down at it, she stared for a moment. Surprised, but expressionless, as it spoke to her to apologize. When the holograph appeared, Tani was forced to look up at the person instead of down at the box. This she was used to. She was shorter than many of the creatures of Bordertown, including some of the human children. What she wasn’t used to was holographic beings that spoke to her.

“I accept your apology. I hope that your cube was not damaged by my foot.” She smiled slightly, trying to be polite and friendly as a good guard without reason to be stern or angry should. “You seem to have been having some difficulties. Is there anything that I can help you with?” She was referring to the fact that his cube had apparently been flipped over just moments before.

Aneron, having heard some sort of commotion as he turned into the alleyway, continued down a side street in order to backtrack his way onto the main path through the market square. As he sidesteps inconspicuously onto the road, he manages to catch a glimpse of a small portal fading away, accompanied by a cloud of smoke rising into the sky. Aneron briefly directed his attention to the figure that had seemingly emerged from said portal, his curiosity ever so piqued at the grandiose, if not exorbitant, display.

"Why would you want to draw so much attention to yourself in the first place...." Aneron murmured. After a brief moment, he decided that there must have been some kind of motive behind the event, so he decided to stick around a while and find out what it was that drove the creature to be so bold.

Somewhere in the market town square death walked, not like someone close to death. But the man who comes to take your soul, the one actually kills you. Death made his way through the crowed, most people moved out of his way. For fear of dying if they touch him, his scyth was at his side. Bone fingers holding it, he continue to walk. Looking for the only person who was able to cheat death, he didn't know how she was able to cheat him. But now he was here, to find her and kill her.

"This is definitely different than Warclema and the other dimensions I've been to."Though Thesil as he took notice of the strange creatures. Pulling back a sleeve of his robe Thesil revealed a strange watch like bracelet with a few buttons and knobs and began fiddling with it. As he fiddled with the strange object the physics within a 10ft radius of him began to react much like it had done during his entrance only that his now glow his body had while the portal was around was a lot more visible. "Might as well give it a test run to see if it is working properly." Thesil muttered as his gaze took to the skies as his body began to glow brighter with red light. After a couple of minutes the bright red glow vanished as a beam of red light fired from his eyes like a laser striking an unlucky bird that was flying above him and setting its feathers a blaze and quickly turning the small creature to ashes that were then carried away by the wind. "Well it seems to be working though now there is one thing to handle finding out where exactly I am." Muttered Thesil once more as he looked around some more ignoring the stares and taking notice of the black box creating a hologram and what appeared to be a human talking to it. The human looked as if she might know his current location and seemed to be the more friendliest of those around him.

"Seems I've found the last thing I need." Thesil thought to himself as he slowly approached who he would most likely later find out was not a human but a golem a creature he was not too familar but not as strange as the creatures of his world.

"Excuse me but do you know where exactly I am, and if there are other humans like yourself here?" Asked Thesil as his body started to glow again only that it wasn't all red but the colors of light his body was naturally absorbing.

She had always liked looking at people, even when they did not look back. The bustling market was a feast for the eyes of Sha'irn, otherwise accustomed to looking at the ground and other people's noses. But with this many people, no one paid much attention to the small woman clad in black near the market stalls of the bridge.

It was her morning off. After all, interrogations were rarely held during the day, and that was what she was best at. She let the black, silken ribbon slide between her fingers for the nineteenth time, becoming increasingly aware of the merchant's rising impatience. Smiling politely at her feet, she handed him a few coins, receiving the ribbon in return. She tied up most of her hair in a loose ponytail with it, leaving a few long locks in the front to hang down so as to better hide her face.

One of the few voices familiar to her rose above the buzz. With many a sideways twist and "excuse me", she made her way across the bridge to almost immediately spot the familiar black-and-blue uniform of the Enforcers, and the even tinier woman inside it. However, the soft hum of familiarity was almost immediately deafened by a cacophony of alarm bells inside her head, as Tani was not alone. Not at all. Some sort of vaguely flickering boy - a hologram? - and a - a glowing boy? were with her. She swallowed nervously, before picking up her courage and walked the last few meters towards her colleague.

"Good morning, Tani," she said pleasantly. "Any trouble?"

Orpheus grinned at Tani.

"Not really." The image of him stretched out, flexed its muscles and yawned. "Are there working electrical sources here? It's a bit tricky to be for something like me to be in this zone."

The appearance of the glowing lad and the other girl who acted in a carefree manner despite her enforcer's uniform was a little surprising, but Bordertown was a place for strange folk. The girl's eyes made his circuits strange, like a magical force was trying to rip something out of him. The computations in his mechanical mind worked harder at correcting this strange phenomena, but the eerie feeling of it freaked him out.

"Stop looking at me!" he screamed as his hologram flickered off. His wheels spun, and he sped off haphazardly. A few seconds later, he careened off the edge of the road, falling into the water. His cube floated in the waters, then levitated up from the river and landed on the edge of the bridge.

The cube paused, and one could imagine an awkward expression on it if Orpheus was showing his face. "Sorry," he whimpered. "Magic scares me."

She woke abruptly, sitting up in the bed she was sleeping in and feeling somewhat dazed. Remembering a fading scene of shady silhouettes, talking to each other about keeping a track on someone’s schedule.
Who’s schedule? She asked herself a bit confused.
“What a weird dream.” Tjhifer mumbled to herself as she shake the feeling out of her head.

Thought, she has been informed that magic beings may feel more or less odd or drained in this area. It was more the dream that wondered her. She remembers to have had lot of nightmares about those dark silhouettes as kid, but that was so long ago now. Still feeling a bit tired she yawned, but managed to get herself up and out.

Many stranger things had happening just yesterday. First thing was, she somehow got lost in a forest that didn’t match her map. Next thing, her backpack she usually wear on long distances walking went missing, after she just had taken it off for a break, only left it out of sight for a single moment. Third thing, she was about to hunt down the backpack thief when she was lead to the walls of Bordertown. Fourth thing was, the thief mysteriously disappeared at the front of a seemingly old, sealed gate. She had to find another way in!
Fifth thing, she was now in Bordertown.

But after a while of looking around in the town and its stranger residents, she found what she was looking for; the enforcer’s headquarters. The backpack thief was of course nowhere to see, but the enforcers would most likely be able to help.
As she came to talk with them about the theft, she was informed that it was a rather new, but widespread phenomenon that new arrivals of Bordertown either lost or got stolen their bags, wallets, etc. with no track and not to be found.
But they promised her they would do everything they could to solve the mystery. And with that they gave her a free card to Hotel Valdemore, as she could use until she either got her backpack and money back or found a job.

And that was where she had stayed for the night.
Now she wanted to check up on the enforcer’s work, curious to hear more about this so called ‘new arrivals phenomenon’.
But once she came to the bridge leading to Markettown, Tjihfer frozen at her spot, as she were coming just in time to observe the strangest sight in her entire live.
In front of her, in the direction of the busy place inside Markettown was a whole scenery going on with a glowing orb and a blue-robed man.

Thesil turned at the sudden voice that spoke near him but was flooded with memories of orange webs filled with various creatures such as arthropods, mammals, reptiles, and fish struggling to escape as the webs were ignited returned to Kisei's mind.

"What...Is..." Spoke Thesil as his glowing eyes began to show a look of guilt and sadness.

Images of red, segmented legs tipped in razor sharp claws thrusting out of the flames and cutting up the creatures that refused to burn...

"...going on..."

A large tortoise having its shell pierced by a pair of fangs that came together to form what looked like a pair of needle nose pliers before being torn in half from those fangs coming apart...

"...why couldn't I save her..."

Flashes of a red spider creature covered in flames twice Thesil's size with a pair of fangs which had a noticeable red glow and next to it was the burning remains of a woman who appears to be a couple of years younger than Thesil.

"...If only I had learned to use ice ligic Emily..." Muttered Thesil before he fell to the ground from the growing guilt of losing one he cared about.

No, no, no!

Sha'irn cursed herself for not having been more careful. In only a few minutes, she had looked two innocent people in the eyes, and caused one of them to fall into the murky waters of the river, and the other to collapse on the cobblestone. She quickly fell to her knees, keeping her gaze fixed on a pebble on the ground as she gently shook the glowing man by his shoulders, careful to not accidentally smash his head into the unyielding ground.

"I am so, so sorry," she told the cube shakily.
"It's just - I'm not sure where to look at you. Do you have some sort of lens you use to see with, o-or are the eyes of your hologram out of the question, as well?"

She would be genuinely sad if that was the case. Tani was the only being Sha'irn had ever come across that could look her in the eyes without acting like she had whipped them, and even if the hologram probably could not actually see, even the illusion of another pair eyes would be nice. She sighed, and gave up shaking the unconscious man, instead resorting to a powerful slap across his face.

As Thesil lay there on the stone ground a bit damaged from the collapse was still having flashes of the blazesilk that had killed Emily which started to feel him with anger turning his body's current glow to a red glow which started to quickly heal any damage he received both from the fall to the slap that knocked some sense back into him but causing him to almost strike back in retaliation if he had' remembered he was not in Fire Forest the natural home of the creatures he had trained himself to handle.

"It is not wise to strike someone while they are down they may be out but some are good at recovering. Though I must ask what is it about your eyes that reminds me of the one I lost to a Blazesilk" Spoke Thesil with his eyes still closed and a hand where there once was a hand print.

Tani smiled, a polite expression that she knew would be friendly and put people at ease. “Good morning, enforcer Ghalb. There has been no trouble this day. I was just speaking with-“ As she spoke, she was interrupted as things fell apart. Sha’rin’s eyes effected the hologram she had been speaking with and the flashy new arrival that had appeared to ask about the surrounding area. She, herself, had never had to worry about her fellow enforcer’s eyes. As a golem she did not have regrets. She had orders and work. That was her life, her soul, her emotions and knowledge. She felt the feeling of guilt, only because she was ordered to understand emotions, when she looked into her fellow’s eyes. It did not affect her as it did others because she had no memories of things to feel guilty for, just the knowledge that she could act the part if she was supposed to. Perhaps that was why the force often assigned Sha’irn and herself to the same areas to patrol.

After the moment of chaos in which the hologram went mildly haywire and the new arrival fell to the ground, Sha’irn went to wake the fallen man. She turned to the cube and, as if nothing much had happened, “The Market District of Bordertown is currently at 65% magic, 35% technology with technology in flux. It is ill advised to attempt the use of electrical sources due to possible sudden power surges or lapses.” She blinked and smiled her friendly smile that didn’t seem to reach her eyes. “There is an electrical source in this wall over here,” Tani pointed towards the edge of a building close by.

Aneron, watching the rather strange scene play out from afar, couldn't help but notice a few other beings standing around, looking with curiosity at the official looking women clad in black. Judging by the man and the machine's reaction to the woman's stares, Aneron decided that he would attempt to avoid making eye contact with the person in question. As he put together what he could from the proceedings in his head, he noticed one of the bystanders seemed to share at least some semblance to his people. Curious as to what she knew, he cautiously approached the young woman.

"Hello miss. I couldn't help but notice that like me, you have taken an interest in this particularly odd happening. I do not suppose you would know of this man with the strange, blue, clothing would you?" He asked, being rather formal.

Orpheus's cube spun around just below Sha'irn's feet. "My holographic eyes can see as well. But it seems like my normal lens here doesn't get affected by the strange phenomena your eyes exhibit."

His cube floated gently up towards eye-level, as if beckoning someone to hold him in their palm.

"Thank you for informing me about the little electrical port." One could imagine a smile on Orpheus's face as he directed those words at Tani. "It is difficult managing myself in this place, but I've been quite able to do so.

He imagined what it was like to be human. A few years ago, a group of scientists offered to transplant his mind into a proper mechanical body. It looked human enough, but Orpheus wanted to be human, not 'human enough'.

Maybe it was better off accepting that offer before his world went up in mushroom clouds.

Oh. It was hard for her to hide her disappointment. A single lens could never substitute an eye, no matter how similar the way they worked were.

Sha'irn scrambled to her feet, eying the hand print on the older mans face with a sudden surge of embarrassment and sorrow. He shouldn't have to close his eyes. No one should.

"Pardon, sir. I assure you, my hard handedness was in your best interest. As for the - the unfortunate incident, looking into my eyes provokes intense feelings of guilt and shame, along with the memories that caused it."

She stretched out her hand in the air, grasping the floating cube and examining it closely, tracing a finger along the unnaturally even corners. Curious thing. Wonder how it came to be. She blinked at the lens, for an instant imagining she saw a flicker of something other than dead glass.

"If there is anything I can do to apologize for this impoliteness, please let me know," Sha'irn told the air between the cube and the cloaked man still sitting on the cobble.

"Even if it is only something as simple as providing you with directions, buying you a pint, or taking you to a more stable power station, I would gladly do so."

She threw a quick, apologetic glance back at Tani as she spoke. What a morning.

Only doing 1x1s and tiny groups for now due being generally busy. If you have a cool idea, feel free to approach me, though, alas, even the most awesome adventures must be passed up on sometimes.

Thesil took to his feet turning his face away from Sha'irn pulling aside his hand from his fully healed face as his eyes opened still having their unnatural red glow. "Sounds like something that would be annoying to have seeing as you can't look someone in the eyes, and I wouldn't worry about it not the first time I've been struck in the face, yesterday I was greeted with a blow to the face from a Fistari and they take being injured as a good thing seeing as it helps them live longer than normal, due to their lacking of a preferable form of cell replacement... Kinda forgot the fact that only a Warclemain or one who has been to Warclema would know of Fistari." Said Thesil as he began rummaging through the pockets of his robes and pulling out a book titled "A Traveler's Guide to Warclema" and began scribbling in it using the strange looking pencil that was being used as a mere bookmark.

"That reminds me, allow me to introduce myself I am Thesil Canith, I'm a dimensional explorer from Warclema and was sent here by my employers to explore this world which I've yet to figure out the name of." Said Thesil as he looked up from his writing.

Standing on her spot for many minutes while observing the event. Blinked surprised when she noticed someone standing beside her, talking to her.
“Oh-” Tjihfer snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at the tall elf. He reminded her of Martian, the hiker elf who once saved her life as a kid, and who she’s always seen more of a big brother than a father while he took care of her.

This elf that now were standing beside her was just taller and… less dirty.
“No, I don’t happen to know about him.” She said, gave a quick polite smile to the tall elf before looking back at the place in front of them. The man in blue and floating cube seems to have calmed down after a sudden outburst of fear, just right after they have looked one of the enforcer women in the eyes. Seeing many of the bystanders didn’t seem all too chocked by the earlier happenings. More like a bit surprised and curious. Tjhifer weren’t really overly shaken by the happenings either, as she, because of Martian and his elf magic, always were somewhat involved in the magical world back in the human dominated village she came from. But it was still strange enough for her.

“I came to this town just yesterday actually…” Tjihfer spoke again while she looked around, before moving her attention back at Aneron. “And already there I got my backpack stolen on the way!” Frustrated about the theft event, she explained him the odd happenings of the mysterious phenomenon. About the new arrivals disappeared valuables, as she had heard about, back from her first visit at the enforcer’s office.
