"Its the crew of the Nitrate, Captain! Manifests say that the cargo hold of the Mayflouder is holding some diamonds from one of the lunar moons of Caramesh that are quite valuable, some herbs and other medicinals needed for the war on Flonor Six, and one passenger who's been requested to appear... On your planet, Captain," Shomei had answered her, turning in his seat to look at her. "It doesn't say what this passenger is... But if this member is a diplomat..."
Everyone knew what that meant. If a diplomat was captured, it meant another war was going to be on the horizon. There were three different wars already raging and another one would topple the systems. It would be a full on spacial war and no one wanted another one after the first one...
By the time the Naval ship appeared to help the cargo ship, all that could be found were floating bodies, some cargo aimlessly drifting about, and a hole nearly the size of a single personal cruiser in the hull of the ship. The ship was quiet as a few of the crew members started the protocol to scan for life.
"There's nothing here captain... No signs of life anywhere... What is your next suggestion? Do you want us to go after the Nitrate?" Shomei asked, turning to look at his boss. "They might have the passenger that was aboard..."
Of course they had the passenger! She was locked in the brig!

The Dog-kin, a large quantity of dog breeds, was nothing uncommon amongst the worlds. What was rare was the fact that a wolf and a dog bred together to create the most rare creature in any system. Now, what she knew of her own family was her mother had given birth to her brother, who wasn't breathing when he was born. It was speculated that there had been something wrong with him in the womb, or that his life had given up to let her live. Her mother, heartbroken, had left her in the hands of her father, who died in battle.
She had been raised most of the time after the age of four by a clan, a very, very small clan, of stray wolves. She knew they weren't her family, but it helped to be raised by them. They taught her how to defend for herself, how to attack when it was needed, and how to even speak in different languages. They taught her how to take care of herself, of ways to survive whether it be in the massive city of Mainsten on the rather populated planet of Traven, or in the wilds of the frozen planet of Hothern. What she wasn't prepared for, was the sickness that had missed her, yet effected the clan she called family. They were wiped clean, leaving her alone in the wilderness of Florein, the planet most wolves inhabited when she was young.
She remained a single halfling since then. Sure, she dreamed of having a family of her own, a constant in her ever changing world, but thanks to the forces that be, she didn't know if she should put her dream in a bottle on a shelf, or to just throw it away entirely. Bad luck seemed to follow her no matter where she went. As shown with her being in the brig of a pirate ship going to be sold off like a priceless piece of china from Earth's younger years.

As a photon torpedo tore through the hull of the Nitrate, the captain shouted in many different tongues, thanks to his different tongues, to man their stations or they'd get thrown overboard and left to the vacuum of space to blow their heads apart. There were many explitives in his words, but she'd rather not think of the meanings behind them.
Shaking her head, her tail nearly lifted as she heard more people climbing aboard the damaged pirate ship. Her hopes started to build, and she could only pray to herself that someone would be along to get her out of this damned cell. As much as her ancestors didn't mind kennels, the wild side of her couldn't handle the bars.
Again, in his many tongues mixed with many explitives, he told his men to charge, to take down the damned navy pigs and a bigger cut would be given to every member who managed to kill the most. Of course, this caused the pirates to yell and charge at the Navy soldiers, weapons drawn to dispearse the enemy.
