Jason Todd / Red Hood

Being on top of her the way he was...it was very distracting, especially when he met her brown eyes with his own. Her own short, dark brown hair was damp with sweat, the dry strands curving, much like his. His breathing began to slow in time with hers, and he was aware that he was remaining on top of her for much longer than what was usual. She wasn't pushing him away, or struggling at this point. Jason opened his mouth to say something when..."OMG!!! WOULD YOU TWO KNOCK IT OFF!!! PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO WORK DOWNSTAIRS!!! #@$#!!! Trying to text in peace," erupted and spoiled whatever was going on. Distracted by that, Jason glanced over from where it was coming from, unsure if he was annoyed by it or amused. What did she think they had been doing while she was-...his thought cut off very abruptly as pain erupted from his groin.

Jason groaned lowly, letting Barbara roll him off of her. "That's...a low blow...you cheater," He forced out between painful inhales. He moved onto his stomach, pressing his forehead against his arm with his eyes closed tightly as he tried to control his shaky breathing. It hurt like a motherf u c k e r. It probably took a good seven minutes of lying on the floor for him to get up. It still hurt, but it had begun to dull down. He walked from the gym room and back to his duffel bag, only to realize that he had no idea if there was another shower he could use. Sighing, he figured he might as well as Marci, since Barbara was showering, and he was NOT risking another crotch hit. That would be too much. Before going down, he placed the patch back over his scar then made his way downstairs.

His eyes resting upon Marci, Jason leaned his shoulder against the doorway, and pushing his hands into the sweatpant's pockets. "Marci," he spoke, meeting her eyes when she looked over, "would you know if there is another shower around here? Or...is there just one?" He asked simply, not thinking much about the fact he was basically showing off his body in front of the paralegal woman. He just knew he needed a shower, since he probably didn't smell the best at the moment, with the sweat still clinging to his skin, though he was no longer dripping in his perspiration.

Marci

Oh. My. God!!!!!!!!

She just sat there, drooling. "Ahhhhh..." This was like the best day of her life...EVER!!!! He looked like he stepped off the cover of a men's health magazine. Mesmerized, she got up from behind her desk and walked over to him. She reached out a hand, wanting to pinch him to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Then she remembered her manners. It took a force of will but she pulled back her hand.

What was it that he wanted again. Shower, right. "Sorry, Barb has the only shower but I'm sure she'll let ya use it after she's done. It won't be long. Hey, were you in the Seals or something?" she remarked, noticing his scars for the first time. Because, just between you and me," I think scars are sexy.

"Come on, I'll take ya back upstairs. Barb is probably done." Before he could protest, she grabbed his hand and they walked back upstairs. "Barb! Barb! You still in the shower?" she yelled from the living room.

"Why are you yelling?" Babs asked from right behind her. "Yeah, I'm done," she stated the obvious, dressed in a fresh tee and jeans. She looked Jason up and down. "If you're done sweating all over my paralegal, the bathroom's yours," she snickered to the nearly naked hunk of man before her.

Marci got up and walked over to him. When she reached out her hand, Jason blinked in confusion. Did she want him to...shake her hand? He looked from her hand to her for a moment. "Uh...Marci?" He asked, hoping to snap her out of whatever trance she was in. Then he recalled the fact that he was completely shirtless, and was wearing a pair of sweatpants low on his hips. ...Oops... She then seemed to snap out of her trance, saying that Barbara has the only shower, only to then ask if he was in the Seals and saying that she thought scars were sexy. A small smile went over Jason's lips. "A Seal? You could say that," He spoke. Well, he was KINDA like a soldier, in a way. It was better than saying he was once a masked vigilante sidekick under Batman, got tortured by a demented, sadistic clown, and is now a red helmeted vigilante. "Oh, and thanks, I think," he chuckled.

Jason's eyes widened a little in surprise as Marci grabbed his hand and pulled him upstairs. He looked over his shoulder as Barbara spoke from behind them, and he nodded to Barbara. "Oh good, I really need it," He said to her, offering a small smile. "Thanks Marci," he added to the paralegal, pulling from her grasp and walking to his duffel back. He grabbed the clothes he had been wearing earlier before walking to the bathroom. He pulled the patch off once he got in, and then took a shower, washing off his sweaty body and and hair. The shower didn't last very long. It was only a matter of minutes before he walked out, his jeans on. His black hair was damp, but not soaked since he had used the towel to squeeze some of the moisture out. He tugged his shirt on as he walked then pulled the leather jacket on. "I owe you food, right?" He spoke up, glancing at Barbara.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

Later that night...

Empty cartons of delicious Cantonese carryout, the remnants of their dinner, lay strewn on the table by the couch. "Do you have his location on the tracker?" she asked Jason as she swept the cartons into a trash bag. Tying off the bag, she deposited it by the kitchen counter. The thick steel door by her bedroom was open and she disappeared inside. About five minutes later, she reappeared. her t-shirt and jeans replaced by her trademark black tights and compression long-sleeve with its distinctive dull gold sigil.

Like her, her crimefighting partner was getting ready for their late night work. He had given him her tracker and along with his own, they should be able to pinpoint their quarry, one Joshua Kelly aka Happy-Boy, with absolute certainty. "Oh, do you need any gear?" she asked solicitously before disappearing again into her own little bat cave. It was a safe room, thick steel walls on all sides, that took up about a quarter of the vast floor space of her loft. Inside, gear and weapons hung on hooks and racks. A veritable arsenal. Batarangs, grapnels, various explosive and gas orbs, bat-shaped knives, night-vision and other enhanced vision equipment, batons, throwing stars, tasers, high tech surveillance and monitoring gear. Her utility belts, six in total, took up one small corner while her 'wardrobe', duplicate tops, tights, capes, and boots occupied the far wall. Assorted cowls with their dark red wigs attached sat ready on a counter. And in the center, two SW26010 supercomputers with their oversized monitors were positioned on a heavy metal table, along with various files and a black leather chair.

Jason was welcome to any of it, well, at least, to any of the standard gear. Her specialized gear, her modified smartphone for instance, were one of a kind and for her use only. Otherwise, mi casa es su casa. Or in this instance, mi cueva es tu cueva.

The Cantonese carryout ended up being pretty damn good. Jason had his eyes on Happy-Boy, watching as the little red dot that stood for the criminal waltzed around the digital Gotham on the tracker. At the moment, Jason was already in his Red Hood gear, save for his helmet and weapons. The body armor, brown leather jacket, combat boots...all of it. He had been getting set about the mission as night got closer and closer. Perhaps it was that he wanted to see Jasmine after all this time. A part of him hoped it was her, and the other half hoped it wasn't. It was...odd. His eyes shifted over to Barbara as she asked if he had his location. "Of course I do. It looks like all of our trackers worked for tonight. He's completely unaware that we bugged him," He answered, his voice straight-forward and serious.

Jason stood up, picking up his helmet and holding it under his arm. When she asked if he needed any gear and disappeared into the Bat Cave Barbara style, he shrugged, grabbed his weapons, then followed, placing them on as he walked into her hideout. His gaze swept around, rather impressed with the set-up. It was certainly nice. "Huh. You have a nice assortment," he said, leaning back against the wall,"but I think I'm set. I have my batclaw, knife, guns, taser, exploding smoke balls, sticky bombs and my own kind of batarangs. I think I'll manage," He said to her with a small smile. He had been surviving pretty well off of all those gadgets so far. "So, the plan is trailing him until he leads us to his boss. Then, we take them both down, right?" Jason asked, pushing his hands into his pockets. Of course, he knew it would be going differently. Jasmine would kill the man, and he'd have to knock out Barbara so he could speak with her. He wasn't looking forward to it...but he had to do what he had to do.

"Right," Babs confirmed as they went over the plan. Follow and take-down. Happy and the mysterious mastermind looking to frame him and now that he was free on bail, rub him out. She buckled her utility belt, draping her cape after and clipping it around her collar. Jason appeared unusually serious but then again this was her first experience being around him while he was 'suiting up' so to speak. Well, as Red Hood anyway. She let it slide, grasping a cowl in both hands and firmly affixing it over her head. Her boots and gloves came last.

Ready for action, she stepped out of her lair. No longer Barbara Gordon but Batgirl, the dark angel of Gotham. She saw that Jason had on his helmet, guns holstered. She thought it a good time to remind him of the rules of engagement. "No killing," she reiterated. "Shoot to wound only. Watch and wait but if Happy-Boy's life is in imminent danger, we blow cover and get him out of there. I know your feelings on the matter but this is non-negotiable. Agreed? Now where are we going?"

While Barbara got suited up, he put his helmet on. The eyes of the helmet glowed as it was set into place, and he crossed his arms over his chest as he waited. It was nice getting to be on good terms with Barbara...even if it had really only been for today. She would go back to practically hating him after the stunt he was planning on pulling. Jason clenched his hands into fists. Did he really want to ruin that? Was there any other way to do this? The thought in his head was quickly shot down, and he steeled himself. It was too late to think of a different plan. He had to go through with it now. He was doing what he needed to do to reach his goal. That was all.

Once Barbara was officially ready and now Batgirl, Red Hood followed her out of the layer. As she spoke about no killing and all that, he sighed. He'd agree with her terms...for now. "Agreed," He simply responded before taking the tracker out. He showed her the screen. "Looks like he's close by the steel mills, which is Joker's territory." He spoke, not all that surprised about it. Gang members only cared about their gang, which was ironic because Joker was known for killing his gang members. Not that it was his problem. Still, they would need to be careful. Joker's territory was always a wild card.

The old. abandoned Gotham steel mills resembled a rotting, rusting industrial graveyard. Salvagers had stripped the structure of any and all metals that had any resale value whatsoever. The only materials left behind were toxic and the facility itself had been condemned long ago. The place was a death trap. No wonder the Joker had picked it as his hideout.

Their stakeout position was on the rooftop of a defunct furniture factory a quarter of a mile away. They were far enough away that hopefully they would go unnoticed by anyone else that hoped to catch their bait by surprise. Despite the distance, they had a clear line of sight into the guts of the mill and the empty warehouses all around allowed for a quick path by rooftop to the mill if things got hot.

Barb adjusted the focus on the macro-goggles that were affixed over her cowl. She zoomed in to get a better look at Happy-Boy. The little psychopath had made a nest for himself just inside the main entrance to the mill. Fast food wrappers littered the ground next to the small fire he was huddled over to keep himself warm. "Look at him," she told Jason. "Snug as a bug. In his case, a cockroach." She switched from night vision to thermal. "I'm not picking up any heat sources other than the fire and Happy. Means no one's here or...they could be wearing stealth suits. How about you? See anything?"

The steel mills was one of Joker's "new" locations. By new, it meant after his torture. Still, the steel mills themselves were pretty unstable, and it wasn't a big surprise that the Clown Prince of Crime decided to use them as a hideout. Jason was scanning the area at the moment. Like Barbara, he wasn't seeing anything, which struck him as surprising. Where was Jasmine?...or not Jasmine, he guessed. It wasn't like he knew for sure. "No, I'm not seeing anything at the moment either." He spoke up, frowning behind his mask. He felt like they were missing something. Of course, like Batgirl said, they could be using stealth suits. If that was the case, then they would have no idea. Sitting and watching the disgusting thug didn't appeal to Jason. There had to be more to this.

Once again, he scanned the area with thermal. It came up the same, and yet..."There. On the rooftop a building away from where Happy is," He began, his heart beginning to race. Like last time, the figure was hard to see. They were dressed in black, so they blended into the shadows on the night and the ouline of the building. They must be wearing a stealth suit, which was why the thermal wasn't coming up. Jason had actually though the figure had been part of a building...until they moved a bit. That told him all he needed to know. Now...he glanced over at Batgirl. Knock her out now, or once Happy was killed?

Jason wouldn't get the time to find out. The figure slowly stood up to their full height. It seemed that they were facing him and Batgirl. Then, they raised their hand. In it, a glowing green light was there. Perhaps a switch. "What the h e l l is-" He began, but then all the entrances to the "abandoned" buildings swung up, revealing dozens of Joker's men. Even below them in the building they were atop of, he could hear the bustling of shoes. When he looked down with his thermal, he counted about 8 men. "F u c k. They were expecting us." Jason practically growled out. This was not how the night was supposed to go. At all.

She shifted her goggles to the building that Jason pointed out. Switched from thermal back to night vision. Didn't see any..."Wait. Got it." Then she watched in horror as the figure stared directly at them and raised a bright green wand. S h i t! They had just been made! Fallen into a trap like a pair of rookies!

Then all h e l l broke loose! Along all four corners of every building between their location and the steel mill, every boarded-up opening fell away! She switched to thermal and her visor lit up like Christmas! Multiple bogies, at least forty, popped up from inside the buildings. Moving swiftly up stairs, heading for the rooftops. No doubt to ambush them! They would be surrounded and overwhelmed if they stayed where they were! Babs realized that their leader was the key. The one that had sprung the trap with the green light. Their only chance was to get to him before his goons got to them!

"We have to move!" she shouted to Jason. "Get to the leader and take him out!" She didn't bother to wait for his answer, having faith that he would follow her lead. She ran to the edge of the rooftop and leapt off at full sprint. In mid-air, she pulled her grapnel and fired a line at the closest building. Already, the Joker's thugs had made it to the rooftops. Swinging over, she tucked and rolled. They were on her but she barreled through them. A thug came at her with a crowbar. She blocked the strike with the side of her arm and broke his nose with a palm strike. All without slowing down. She ducked under another goon with a baseball bat, didn't bother to take him out but simply ran past him at full speed. Heading to the edge, diving off, and firing a line to the next building. It was a game of leapfrog, with over a dozen buildings between them and the leader in black. And each lily pad was filling up fast with more and more of the Joker's henchmen!

It was impressive that their plan had been discovered so easily. Had it been that predictable? Now that the boarded up buildings were open, the thermal was lighting up everywhere, it growing by the moment. "Damn no killing rule," Red Hood grumbled, taking his batclaw out. There was no way they could stay on the roof they were on. Too many thugs were coming up, and the roof was much too small. They would be overpowered, especially since he couldn't use his precious Desert Eagles for killing shots. He needed to get to the leader before Batgirl. At this point, there was no way she would know what he had originally planned. Both plans had been foiled with this one surprise. Now, they truly were working together.

"Already on it!" He shouted back to Batgirl, though she probably didn't stick around to hear him. He shot his batclaw to a close by building and shot off right as the goons were charging him. He flew through the air and jumped up on the roof he had launched to, keeping the batclaw in one hand and taking out one of his guns with the other. He could at least shoot nonfatal shots, and use it as a way to bash heads. Immediately, he shot his gun in three quick successions as he ran across the rooftop. The bullets all hit their targets: the legs of the men he had randomly targeted. They shouted out, collapsing due to the pain. The men that got in his way, he hit across the head with his gun and ducked under them. When he got to the edge, he jumped off, shot the batclaw at the next roof, and lather rinse repeat as he made his way to the shadowed figure, who was simply standing with their arms crossed.

After a few rounds, Jason realized that using his gun would be futile here, since killing was a no go. He could only injure the goons, not take them out. His fist would be more effective at the moment. So, he landed on one roof and put the batclaw at his waist. "Let's go, assholes!" He shouted, spreading his arms out. The goons laughed then lunged for him at once. Jason ran to the side, leaping over a few of the crowd, before landing on one's shoulders. He shouted in surprise, and he quickly punched him hard in the back of the head and jumped off, twisting in the air and landing in a crouch as he faced the men. There was about 15 of them left. There had been 16. Phew...this was going to be risky. Jason charged forwards, swinging his fists, dodging, counter attacking, and throwing goons into one another. By the end of it, Jason had multiple rather shallow cuts along his biceps and sides, and he had taken a nasty blow to his stomach from a baseball bat, but they were all unconscious. He swept his thermal around but...there was only 15. Where was the 16th man? However, he didn't think much about it and ran off to the next rooftop, not even noticing the gun that was missing from its holster.

She knew Jason was on one of the other buildings behind her but couldn't afford to turn around to see. A group of four goons attempted to tackle her but she sidestepped one of them and drop-kicked another, leaving her an opening to squeeze through. Jason could be in trouble, maybe even captured, but she couldn't concern herself with that now. If she stopped to find out, she might be captured as well. She had to reach the leader, she kept telling herself. By nabbing him, she had leverage. With him under her thumb, she could force him to tell the others to surrender.

She charged ahead, made it to another building. Fought through another five goons. But she was getting closer. In fact, she was already more than halfway there. She could make out the mysterious figure in black three buildings away. He just stood there, calm, watching the chaos unfold around him. She had already dismissed the possibility that it might be the Joker himself. Or Harley. No, this black clad wraith was too quiet, too...sedate. Joker or Harl would be prancing around, cracking bad jokes and egging on their minions. She threw a left hook then a roundhouse kick to take out two more goons before crossing to the next building.

Now only a single building remained between Batgirl and and her prey. One final leap and they were at opposite ends of the same rooftop. Only this close did Babs realize that "she's a woman!" Well, whoever she was, she was about to get a rude awakening!

(starts freaking out cause I'm so excited)
Jasmine Quinn / Jaq

Jason Todd. It had been so long...five years, in fact, since she had last seen him. She wouldn't forget that day. Her father had taken control of Arkham Asylum, and was busy fighting with Batman. It was such a perfect time. Everyone had been distracted. Jason, the forgotten Robin, could finally be released without being caught by the Joker himself. Despite Risuka's pleas for her not to, 16 year old Jasmine went to 19 year old Jason, and she helped him escape via a secret tunnel system. "Come with me, Jasmine. You don't have to stay here." His words echoed in her head even now as she watched him take out an entire roof of men, her cold, emotionless cyan eyes following his fluid movements. "Jason...I can't. My father...he'll kill Risuka...no. I have to stay here." Perhaps she had chosen wrong oh so long ago. Because..."Your contract is hereby...expired" BANG. The red mist covered Jasmine, and it would be the last part of Risuka she would ever see...Risuka had been killed anyways.

Jaq stood at the roof, the only part of her that could truly be identified was her unique blue-green eyes. They were more green than blue, but the mixture made a pretty, unique color. She continued to watch Jason, blinking as the designated goon took one of his guns as he was hit hard with the baseball bat. She wasn't worried for Jason. He would win. Jason Todd, she knew, could withstand anything. As for Batgirl? Well...Jasmine shifted her gaze to the girl. She was her objective. Get her away from Jason. Jasmine jumped onto the roof, the goons immediately moving away from her. They were terrified of her, and for good reason. Joker's assassin known as Jaq was merciless, ruthless, and followed every single one of his orders without fail. She had a 100% success rate.

"Batgirl," Jasmine spoke, her voice mutilated by a voice modulator, "It's nice to finally meet Gotham's dark angel." Jasmine knew who Batgirl was. Barbara Gordan. She failed, just like the rest of them, to save Jason when he needed them most. He screamed and cried out their names when he was in a delirium around her. Oh, she wanted to make her pay. "I hope this has been a sufficient work out." She stated, beginning to walk forwards slowly in her skin-tight black suit. A black cloak with a red inside covered her as well, containing many throwing knives. Her hands went to her waist, and came away with her precious, metallic whips, which cracked against the roof, spraying sparks. The goons murmured nervously among themselves. Jasmine came to a stop a few feet away from Batgirl, her cold as ice eyes, boring into Barbara's, as though they had no emotions...almost like it was a robot's. "I will break you and this city."

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

"I see my reputation precedes me," Batgirl replied coolly when the woman called her by name. "And you are?" The woman ignored her question for the moment, instead asking if she enjoyed the 'workout' in that harsh, modulated voice of hers. Barb didn't answer as the woman closed the distance between them. The woman in black had a squad of Joker goons flanking her but they fell back. It was obvious that this fight was going to be woman to woman.

She kept talking. Partly to distract, partly to gleam more info about this new mysterious adversary. It was useless to intimidate this woman, that much was obvious to Barb. So instead, she tried a little humor. "Come on, if you're going to kick my a s s, the least you can do is give me your name. I deserve that much, don't I? Maybe tell me a little about yourself. I mean, if you're going to learn to be a super-villain, you've got to learn to monologue." They were only feet apart now. So close that Babs could see her eyes. Those distinctive blue-green eyes. The eyes! She HAD it! The woman pulled out a wicked pair of whips. As she did, Barb got the briefest glimpse of knives under the cloak. Wonderful. She continued talking as she hid her hand under her cape and slowly reached behind her. "Hey! Nice whips! Is it because I talk too much? People say I'm nosy. They say I'm a real-life Nancy Drew. You know wha..."

In one smooth, quick blur, her hand reappeared from behind her, flinging an orb that exploded in brilliant light directly in front of the green/blue eyed woman. Fortunately for Batgirl, her goggles protected her. Too bad that didn't appear to be the case for the woman with the pretty cyan eyes.

*****************************************************************

Happy-Boy

Everything was going t i ts up. Time for him to make his getaway. He ran for the old junker he had stolen earlier in the day and now had parked just outside the front gate. As he saw the car ahead of him, a figure emerged from the shadows. Happy's eyes went wide in shock as a huge hand cannon was pointed in his face. "Hey, man! We had a deal! I was supposed to go free! That was the arrangement! The photos? Yeah, got 'em right here!" Happy pulled out a folded manila envelope from his back pocket. Happy smiled in relief as the Desert Eagle was lowered before he screamed in terror as it was raised again at his head. It's muzzle flash was the last thing Happy-Boy ever saw.

Jasmine Quinn / Jaq

There was something Jasmine never understood. Why all the talking? The bad guys would give the heroes their entire plan, the heroes would boast and be arrogant...it seemed silly. Now, she understood. It was a distraction, a way to prolong the time period in order to accomplish something. Jasmine herself was using a small form of it. Keep Batgirl's eyes and focus on her. Jason needed to be out of her sight for the plan to work, and failure wasn't an option in Jasmine's book. She has yet to fail as Jaq.

As Batgirl spoke, trying to have her give up her name, Jasmine didn't fall for the trap. To her, it was blatantly obvious what she was trying to do. She didn't fall for such silly things. So she remained quiet about it, allowing the hero to have her bravado. Typically, Jasmine would have attacked by now. She wasn't one to sit back, wait and stall. She attacked with deadly accuracy and efficiency, her whips shredding her victim's skin in under a few seconds. However, she needed this little match to draw out. That meant putting herself in a situation where Batgirl would have the upperhand...for now.

In the middle of her speaking, Batgirl then flung an orb, which exploded into a dazzling light. Jasmine grit her teeth, shutting her eyes from the brightness. However, she knew that her vision would temporarily be...unreliable. "Ah, so you are scared of a fair fight. How cute," Jasmine spoke in a monotone voice, slowly peering her eyes open. Her surroundings were blurry and everything seemed much too light. She hadn't spent a lot of her time training blindfolded when she was a child and teenager. Only a few times, but not enough to be effective in this fight. She could, at least, walk. Jasmine slowly made her away, turning so the if Batgirl turned to keep her in a frontal view, her back would be to where Jason was.

It was then that a loud gunshot went off. Just a single one. Happy-Boy was dead. Jasmine paused, tilting her head as though the sound perplexed her. "Odd. My men did not bring guns tonight," She spoke simply, hoping that Batgirl would take the bait. At this point, Jason should have realized his gun was gone and be on is way to check everything out. If everything worked out, Batgirl would find him "red-handed."

Jason Todd / Red Hood

Jason continued to hop from rooftop to rooftop, beating down on the goons, clearing the area, then getting to the next one. He was beginning to tired down. Multiple cuts lines his body, and he had been hit with baseball bats and metal pipes more times than he would like to admit at this point. Still, it was all going well. That is...until a gunshot rang out as he punched the last guy on the roof he was on. There was no way he was letting some shooter pick them off. No. Damn. Way.

Jason jumped down from the roofs, somersaulting to break his fall, and ran off in the direction the shot had come from. He slowed down as he saw the body of Happy-Boy lying on the ground. The gun lying beside him was unmistakable. "What..." Jason muttered, his hands moving to his waists. Sure enough...one was missing. Frowning deeply, Jason walked over and crouched beside Happy's body and his gun. He picked up his once missing gun then studied Happy. Had he committed suicide, or did someone shoot him? If someone shot him, then why? What was the purpose behind it?

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

Her ploy had worked. The woman was blinded. Not totally incapacitated but Babs could rectify that easily enough. "Fair fight? Against crazy, whip-wearing skanks like you, not on your life. So, why don't you make this easy on yourself and surrender now." Without her vision, the woman was stumbling, wandering aimlessly. She still tried to head towards her but instead was moving to her right in a slow circle.

Then Barb heard the gunshot. It came from her left, her opponent's right. Behind them both. Even though her foe's words were blatantly calculated, they echoed Barb's own thoughts. She had also noticed that none of the Joker's goons carried firearms, relying instead on bats, bars and other blunt objects. But what worried her more was that she recognized the report of that gunshot. It was heavy, distinctive. From a very large caliber handgun. Like a Desert Eagle.

And just then, the woman opposing her turned just enough, that in the distance, Babs could see Jason standing over the corpse of Happy-Boy, gun in hand. NO! A part of her went cold inside. You gave me your word. She wanted to run off and confront Jason over what he had just done. Leave the fight and let the woman go free. She was sure that her mystery opponent would like nothing better. But the woman with the whips was dangerous. She had to be stopped. While her foe was still disorientated, Barb pressed her advantage. A spinning kick was just the thing to send 'Whip Lady' into unconsciousness.

Jasmine Quinn / Jaq

A small, humorless laugh came from Jasmine. "Whip-wearing skank? First that you must know, Batgirl, is that I don't surrender, and I don't lose. In fact, I'm already winning," She spoke, only the smallest tinge of amusement shining through in her otherwise monotone voice. The gunshot rang out, telling Jasmine that everything was going as planned. Happy gave her subordinate the pictures, her subordinate stole Jason's gun, and now Happy had been shot with it. Barbara Gordon would turn against Jason. Jasmine knew she would. Why wouldn't she? Even if Jason denied it, as he probably would, the "evidence" was proving otherwise. It went to show just how much these "bat" heroes would do for their friends and allies. It was no wonder that Jason didn't trust them, when they couldn't trust him.

Jasmine had expected Batgirl to go after Jason...but she assumed incorrectly. Instead, Batgirl attacked her. Jasmine could hear it in the body movement, the rushing of air. Jasmine peered open her eyes despite the pain it received, seeing a fuzzy, black blur heading towards her. Despite her bad eyesight at the moment, Jasmine raised her arm to deflect the kick, soon grabbing it and shoving it away. "Do not underestimate me, hero," Jasmine spoke lowly, though she knew she was at the disadvantage here. Temporary loss of sight was...not good. Especially since using whips needed to be precise.

Jason Todd / Red Hood

Looking at Happy and using the forensics and detective work he had learned so long ago by Bruce, he was able to come to the conclusion that it hadn't been suicide. Definitely a murder. He even went as far as to check his once stolen gun for fingerprints, but it came off clean. The person must have been gloved. When did someone take his gun? Jason thought for a moment. "Son of a f u c k i n g b i t c h!" He shouted, standing up to his height. The 16th man! He shouldn't have overlooked that. Jason narrowed his eyes. This had been his fault.

Looking behind him, he then saw Batgirl confronting who he believed to be Jasmine. His eyes widened under his helmet as Batgirl did a spinning kick at the cloaked whip-wielder...who just barely blocked it. She seemed disoriented. Gritting his teeth, Jason grabbed his batclaw and shot it, making it back on a roof he cleared and then towards Batgirl and maybe Jasmine.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

Even though the woman was half-blind, she still managed to block Barb's kick. "She's right. Can't underestimate her." Another distraction was called for. "Let's see how she likes this!" Babs threw another orb, this time a flashbang. The protective earpieces in her cowl would protect her from the deafening noise and she was still wearing her goggles. She didn't wait, immediately pressed her attack. Under cover of the flashbang, while her foe was hopefully reeling and disoriented, Babs went low, pivoting in a spin kick to knock the woman off her feet. And once she was down, Babs had no intention of letting her get up again, intending to send her fist slamming into the woman's face. Right between those pretty blue-green eyes of her.

So focused was she, Babs completely missed the cable line that had just hooked itself to the other end of the roof, furthest away from the fight currently transpiring between the two female combatants.

Jason Todd / Red Hood

Just as Jason got the the roof, the flashbang was thrown. The helmet protected him from the noise, and allowed him to see through the smoke. It was clear that maybe Jasmine was completely disoriented. He was able to assume that something happened with her eyes, and now with her hearing ringing, that was to vital senses out of the way. She didn't stand a chance at this point. Jason ran forwards at Babs pivoted her spin kick, causing her opponent to fall to the ground. Jason was upon her right as she drew her arm back for a punch. Jason grabbed her arm with his hand then roughly pulled her back against his chest tightly, his arms wrapped around her to keep her arms pinned to her side. "Sorry Batgirl, but I can't let you do that," He spoke lowly, taking his gun with his other hand and hit the side of her head with it to knock her out.

He set her on the ground gently before walking over to the cloaked woman. Joker's henchmen began to come forward, but he pulled his guns out quickly, aiming them at their heads. "I suggest leaving before I blow all of you sky high." He ordered. A few glanced at the roofs he cleared and seemed to get the memo. Looks like the loyalty to their higher up subordinate wasn't as great. Bending down beside her, Jason pulled her up into a sitting position none too gently then quickly tugged the fabric that was covering the lower part of her face. "Jasmine..." he breathed quietly, his heart racing. Of course, she looked more mature now. Her face had thinned out a bit, looking more womanly. Her vision seemed to slowly be coming back, because her eyes opened a little more, and what he saw when he met them...made him want to shout at himself in rage. They were the eyes he had when he looked at himself in the mirror after making his escape, if not more.

(Uh...should we timeskip or you can be Jasmine?)

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

Just as Barb reared her arm back, it was grabbed from behind her! She was violently yanked back and found herself pinned by a pair of powerful arms. Only a few people could have moved so fast to be able to pull something like that off against her. She knew exactly who it was.

"Sorry Batgirl, but I can't let you do that."

Her skull exploded in a flash of blinding pain as something hard cracked against it. The world turned white before gradually fading to black as she fell to the ground.

***********************************************************

Sometime Later.

"Uhhhh..." Groaning, she slowly picked herself up. She had no idea how long she had been out. "Couldn't have been that long..." It was still dark, the wail of sirens filling the air as the first police cars arrived. "Uhhhh..." Her head throbbed. She placed her hand to the spot that Jason had struck her and winced with the pain. Jason. She had put her trust in him and he had betrayed her. They were gone now. Him and the woman that he had knocked Babs out to save.

She looked down at the front gate of the steel mill. Happy-Boy's cold corpse was still there as the first squad car rolled up. Stumbling a bit, Batgirl pulled out her grapnel and shot a zip-line. She slid down and examined the corpse. The entry and exit wounds through the skull were consistent with a large caliber handgun. "What's this?" There was a manila envelope clutched in the goon's hand!

Barb had to pry it loose from the corpse's frozen fingers. As she opened it and slid out its contents, she gasped. "Oh my god!" Photos of Jason being tortured by the Joker. During the two years he had been captive. It was all making sense now. Happy-Boy had blackmailed Jason into freeing him. And then Jason killed him in cold blood. Either out of anger or to cover his tracks. Why hadn't he taken the photos then? Because of...her. He had to run off to save the woman in black. What was their connection to one another. Barb didn't have time to ponder as Commissioner Gordon approached her.

"What do you have there?" he asked her.

Jason was a wanted man. Wanted for the murder of Happy-Boy. After giving her statement to her dad, Barb returned home. Exhausted and sad. Entering through her secret entrance, she walked into the living room to see the light from the open refrigerator door. "Great. Just what I need." Pulling off her cowl, he gritted her teeth in annoyance. "Just because I gave you the key to my place doesn't mean you can raid my frig anytime you like. At least, close the door, huh."
