Subject number 2845 slipped his lean body out of the bed. He turned around and gazed at his mate. A slender girl of eighteen years, just a month older than him. Her golden hair splayed out across her pillow. He would miss her. Gently he pulled up their shared blanket and tucked her in firmly. She was the best mate he could have asked for. They would come back for her and the others later. Soon.

The boy's soft gaze, turned steely. She was a heavy sleeper, so he knew as a fact she would not awaken any time soon. Turning on his heel before he did something rash, he forced himself to walk towards the only door. Both an entrance and exit to and from their small dorm. Leading to the large, main hallway.

The hallway was lined with doors on either side. All doors to the various other subjects' dorms. 2845 waited by his door patiently. She could not open it from the inside. The scientists controlled the doors electronically and with their key cards. Absently, he ran his right thumb over the subject number tattooed on the alabaster skin of his left wrist. When the mechanical door slid open without a sound, she looked up at the man now standing before her. "Professor. . . You came." He whispered hoarsely.

The scientist forced a wry smile on his lips. His heart aching for him and all of the children held captive in this sterile dome. "Of course." He told him quietly. Nodding his head once, the boy quickly stepped out into the hallway. Hesitant because in all of his years, he had never been allowed out of his dorm at night. None of the children had ever been. The door slid shut. "Hurry now." He rushed the teenager down the hallway.

They had one more stop to make. Gather one other. A girl. The professor wished severely that he could save them all, but at the moment, he could only manage a mere two children.

Coming to another door further down the impossibly long hallway, the older man stopped and so did the boy. 2845 looked from him to the door in slight confusion. He did not know the professor was saving anybody else. The professor swiped his key and the door slid open smoothly. The girl should be ready and waiting for him just as he was.

How long she had been here, she didn't know. They kept her in a room by herself, and she felt she was slowly going crazy. She wanted to get out, get out and soon. She was tempted to use her gift to kill the people that were keeping her in here, but she was not the type to kill people even if they were doing horrible things to her. When the door opened, she looked up at the male that was in front of her. She knew he was like her when she saw him. how she knew that she didn't have any idea. A hunch really. Her shocking red hair stood out with the white blanket. Her green eyes seemed dull and lifeless, seeming as if she had no hope in her heart.
"What are you doing here? If they see us together...it will be bad for sure. They think of me as a ticking time bomb."
Somehow, she didn't know of the escape plan. Probably because she had been kept away from the others. Unlike them, she had given herself a name. Instead of the subject number, she always thought of herself as Helen. This place was like a hell. It seemed suitable. She spent a lot of time writing, wondering about the others. Wishing she could talk to them. But they knew, when she was near others it was bad. So they made sure that wouldn't happen. But, it seemed her time of being alone was over.

Subject number 2845 was tense as he caught sight of the girl with fiery hair. His eyes shifted nervously from side to side. Scanning the hallway for anybody who might attempt to stop them. Soon enough, his eyes landed back on the female and he grimaced. Who was she? He rather disliked strangers. Was she a subject like him? If so, why did he not recognize her? 2845 never forgot a face. Never forgot a name. Never forgot a fact. She would have been no different. He opened his mouth to say something to the professor, but the man gently pushed him back and stepped in front of him. Blocking his view of the girl.

"Helen, come with me." Spoke the older man. His voice gentle and deep like a Cello's. 2845 furrowed his brow. Helen? Was that a name? Had the professor named her? His eyes glanced down at the inky numbers marring his skin. He felt an inkling of envy bubble up into his chest.

"What are you doing here? If they see us together...it will be bad for sure. They think of me as a ticking time bomb." The boy heard the girl's quiet warning. The professor released a deep sigh. Regretful and fatigued. He ran a hand through his graying strands.

"Please. . . I have come to take you away." He assured her. His grey blue eyes full of sincerity. "Just come with me. Quickly."

She stared at the man who told her to come with him. How could she trust him? She had been in this room alone, trying to entertain herself since she came here. They had told her she was dangerous to the other people in there. Something had happened when she was first caught and put in here. But how could they know that much about her just from one experience? It might of been an accident. But, due to that she was afraid to touch the other subject.
"OK, I would like to get out...but be very careful not to touch me. The last time that happened an explosion occurred."
How did the professor know the name she made for herself? She thought it was just a secret she had with herself. Though, he might of read her journal she had been writing.
She was hesitant to trust the professor though, what gave him the idea of freeing them? It seemed that all the professors here wanted to experiment with them.
"This better not be a trick professor, you know what I can do."

The professor simply nodded his head at her warning. Raising his hand up just to assure her. Behind him subject 2845 glared. Meant to be aimed at the girl, but really only ended up staring at the broad back of the older man. Why had the professor chosen her? Of all the other people captive, why her?

The professor took a step back to make room for the girl as she exited the small dorm. He stole a glance at his wrist-watch and grimaced. They needed to get a move on. They had a schedule to keep. The security system he disabled would be coming back on automatically in seven minutes. He needed to get them completely outside of the underground dome by then.

Once the system turned on again the scanners would continue to do their routine scan of every dorm. Checking for missing children.

The professor slid his key card and the door to Helen's dorm shut silently. Without another word, he made his way through the maze of hallways. Not quite a run, but way too fast to be a walk. He trusted the children behind him to keep up.

Helen followed closely, she felt that this might be some sort of trick but you seemed to trust the professor. She pretty much had no choice but to trust him herself. She wanted out, she wanted freedom and to be able to be with other people. Yet, whenever she got close to other mutants bad things happened. If only was a way to contain that. She had been wishing that ever since she came here really. She went quickly. She looked at you. "I am guessing like everyone else you don't have a name."
You would think she would just be quiet while they were getting out, but she wanted to know what to call you. That, and she had been alone for too long. Having someone to talk to was like a Godsend to her.

The younger male strode forward with long, muscled legs. Walking swiftly but was sure not to ever pass the professor. Unlike the older man, he did not know what lay ahead. Hearing the higher pitched, more feminine voice, he looked over at the smaller figure. Why was she talking to him?

He stared at her for a long, tense moment. Looking her up and down. Examining her. What made her so special? 2845 did not even attempt to conceal the scowl that plastered itself on his face. He considered just ignoring her, but at the last moment decided otherwise. Though, that did not mean he was going to be kind. "Yes. . ." He answered curtly. "Helen." He spat before jerking his head to the side.

The professor rolled his shoulders. Trying to diffuse the tension he felt subject 2845 radiate. The boy was comparable to a bomb. Ready to explode on anyone. Uncaring of who would be victim to his hatred and resentment. He let out an inaudible sigh. For the plan to work, those two would have to get along. At least enough for them to just work together.

He turned a corner and walked to the far end. Letting the electronic scanner run it's eerie blue light over his key card, it registered and elevator doors slid open. Opening his arms, he herded the younglings into the small space. The doors shut behind them. The professor pushed the top button. It would take them twenty-six floors up to the only floor above ground. The ride, three minutes forty seconds.

He glanced at his watch. Five minutes thirty-nine-- eight --seconds left.

She wondered what she did to the boy to make him hate her so much? Was it the fact she named herself..or what..she was confused..she was trying to be friendly to him and this is what she got. "Now, whatever is bothering you? You have no reason to treat me that way. I do not think I am above you because I have a name and not a number. If you want, I can help you think of a name for you if you like?" Though, knowing so little of him it was hard. All she knew was he was angry. She opphed as they were squeezed in the tight room. It was rather uncomfortable, and with him acting liek a jerk it was more so. But hopefully she would cheer him up?
