How Pansy had managed to talk Draco into be the counsellor of an arts class on this summer camp was a mystery to him.
He detested the outdoors, and he wasn't even a huge fan of kids. Pansy was grinning at him from the driver's seat in the jeep, and Draco rolled his eyes at her, as he watched the forest zoom past the window. It was probably going to be hell, but at least he would have Pansy there with him, and he would be able to forget about the mess that was his relationship with Blaise. Something that was impossible back at home.
It felt weird to be single again after having been with Blaise for so long, but he knew that it was for the better. Even if Pansy used to be their number one fan, then she supported the break up too, and he honestly didn't know what he would have done without her support. He sighed deeply, and ran a hand through his hair. Usually, he wouldn't want to mess up his hair, but he figured that the other people were going to be looking worse than him anyway, so it didn't matter.
"You're going to die in that shirt," Pansy noted, and Draco shrugged. He always wore longsleeved shirts, even in the strongest of heat, and some stupid camp wasn't going to change that. "You're so prissy, Malfoy," Ted snorted from the backseat, just as Draco had forgotten that he was even there. In fact, Draco didn't even know why Ted was there in the first place, but he had decided not to question Pansy's reasoning.
"I didn't ask for your opinion, Nott," Draco stated coolly. Pansy snorted at the both of them, as she pulled in by a bunch of wooden cabins. It looked just as awful as he feared that it would be. However, Pansy had promised that they were nicer than they looked, and he just had to trust her on it. It wasn't like he had a lot of options to turn back. He doubted that a cab would come out here to pick him up anyway.
"Shut up guys. We are here."

True to tradition, they had arrived as a group. Just as last year, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Harry himself had driven here in Ron's family-sized minivan, arguing that that was the most important part of the tradition; going on the second year, that argument had finally matured into being a valid point. So, just like the previous year, they stood next to their pile of luggage watching Bill drive off between the trees that skirted the camp.
"This one's gonna be the best year yet," Ron said, and Harry turned to eye his friend. They had met at camp as kids, and that (and Ron specifically) had been the number one reason as to why Harry had wanted to return as a counsellor.
"Yeah," Harry agreed, a grin creeping up on his face. It was bound to be. Returning as his second round as a counsellor made everything feel right; the woods, the lake, the cabins and the kids felt familiar. Even Pansy's black jeep, that now rolled down the path which Bill had just disappeared on felt familiar - Harry had last year walked past it many a time, as it was parked pretty and pristine on the adjoining parking space. Instinctively, Harry raised an arm in a greeting as the car passed the drop point where they stood to head down to the parking.

Draco watched the people waving at Pansy's car, assuming that it was some of the other counsellors. He didn't wave back at them, but he took a moment to take a look at them, trying to figure out who they were. He had heard stories about a lot of the counsellors, and they seemed like a merry bunch. Draco wasn't really sure if they were his type of people, but he had to make the best of it. After all, it was just for the summer, and he figured that he could manage that.
Pansy found a parking spot, which wasn't hard, seeing as they were the first to arrive by car. Pansy killed the engine, and Draco took a deep breath, before exiting the car. The air was a lot lighter and fresher in the forest, and Draco wasn't really sure if he liked it. He was very much a city person, but he figured that the forest had some nice things going on for it. Or, at least it was aesthetically pleasing, so that was something.
Pansy and Nott exited the car as well, and Nott looked just as disgusted as Draco felt. Pansy, however, looked thrilled, and most of all excited to be back at camp. "I can't believe you talked me into this," Draco muttered, as they went to grab their bags from the back of the car. Pansy pushed at him, and rolled her eyes at him. "Shut up, it's good for you."

"Were there others in the car with her?" Harry hadn't realised he had stopped to look after the car as it disappeared around the cabins, and Ron's question brought him back to reality.
"I think so, yeah," Harry answered absentmindedly, loosing interest in the car and its passangers as soon as they were out of sight. As he turned to pick up his baggage, he heard Ron hum at the prospect of new faces, as he had been there his entire life. Harry knew he didn't mind, though; camp was an intense way of socialising, and Harry expected the initial awkwardness to wear off within the day.
With a soft grunt, Harry picked up his two gymbags worth of bagage; knowing the day to day he had ahead, one of these bags was solely dedicated to whatever sports gear he had privately. It was going to be a nice and dry summer, and as Harry turned to walk the last way to camp, he couldn't wait to get in the lake.

The car was fairly cramped, despite it being a rather large jeep. It was mostly Draco's fault, but he simply didn't trust Pansy's judgement in art supplies enough to get good judgement on the quality the camp supplied. Honestly, if he was going to be teaching an art class, he wanted to have proper materials, so that his students wouldn't be using that as an excuse. It might only be for the summer, but he took it very seriously, and he wanted to make sure the children got something out of it. It was advanced art after all.
However, all the extra art supplies meant that Draco alone was bringing three bags, one exclusively for art supplies, another exclusively for clothes, and one that was mixed. Nott had rolled his eyes at him, but Pansy had seemed excited about him taking it this seriously. He was regretting his decision now that he had to drag the bags to their cabin though.
"I still can't believe that you dragged me into this," he said with a shake of his head, as he grabbed two of his bags, figuring that he would take the last one on a separate trip. Pansy snorted at him, and grabbed her own bag, as she went into the cabin. "Stop whining."

As Harry got closer to the camp, he realised that they hadn't been the first to arrive. Judging by the amount of luggage piled in a sunny spot next to the larger common building, they might actually have been among the last.
"Was there a bus heading here I wasn't aware of?" Harry asked one of the camp supervisors as he walked towards her, a grin around his features; he midlessly dropped his luggage on the ground next to him.
"Good to see you, Jane," he continued, this time softer, as he ran a hand through his hair. He cast a glance towards his left, where the empty parkinglot was visible between two cabins. "I thought you weren't here, I didn't see your truck-"
"Dean and Seamus are out picking up some lunch -" the camp responsible answered, and upon seeing Harry's face light up in a pleasant surprise, she continued with a motherly smile -" don't get used to it, the cook won't arrive until this afternoon."

The cabin was nowhere as bad as Draco had feared it would be, but it still wasn't very good. His family had gotten him used to a certain standard, and this cabin was quite far from that. However, Pansy seemed thrilled to be back, so he figures that he would be able to get used to it. Eventually.
He dropped his bags on one of the beds with a sigh, and then went to grab the rest of his stuff. It's a lot of stuff, but he would rather bring too much and possibly leave some at the camp, than not have enough for the entire summer. If he had to be a counselor, then he wanted to be the best counselor he could be. "This better be bloody worth it," he muttered softly at no one, as he heaved up his last bag, wanting to unpack. He didn't know if he wanted to socialise with the other counsellors, but he knew that Pansy was probably going to force him, so there was absolutely no reason to fight it.

It was absolutely fantastic seeing people again. Even though most of his peer counsellors were from the same south english area, Harry hardly saw half of them outside of camp; it was a fact Harry forgot throughout the rest of the year, but seeing them now again, it was impossible to understand that they hadn't seen more of each other.
Looking over the chatting teens, Harry and Jane shared a pensive silence which was only broken when Harry caught Oliver's eye, and a smile instantly lit up Harry's features. "Hi, man, whats up? Ready for another beating?"
Oliver laughed at that as he walked towards him, and his momentary silence just proved Harry right. Oliver was teaching the advanced soccer class this summer, and spending most of his time as a goalie, he had throughout the entirety of last summer complained about being soar. "Always am, Harry."

Draco made sure that everything was in order, and that he had no papers being bent, or other things getting potentially damaged, before going to join Pansy and Nott outside the cabin. They were supposed to go to a briefing for counsellors or whatever, and he knew that he had to show, even if he doubted that he would be told anything that wasn't common sense. His subject weren't all that dangerous anyway, so it wasn't like he had any security to care about.
"Stop looking like we're going to a funeral. Camp is fun," Pansy said, and Draco just rolled his eyes at her. He had never visited a camp in his life prior to this, and he had hoped that that was a fact that wouldn't change. However, being best friends with Pansy had ruined the predictability of his life, and while he usually cherished that about her, then he also loathed it. It was a double edged sword.
"By now, I think I would rather go to a funeral."

"No offence, Ol, but I've got more kids in my class than I had last year; they shouldn't have grown tired of your soccer practices?" Harry asked coquettishly, but the little smile quickly turned into a toothy grin upon seeing the honest offence in Oliver's features. "Kids are very hard to entertain, don't feel bad-"
"Oh shush, Harry, we're expanding," Jane eventually had to interrupt. "We're starting a couple of new classes, so many kids have applied this summer," there was a flicker of pride in her voice, Harry couldn't help but appreciate "- We're splitting art into beginners and advanced - Draco over there's teaching the gifted kids, and Theodore's doing some woodworking, - and we have a culinary student teaching a cooking class."
Jane had instinctively nodded in the general direction of the first listed, and Harry turned to look after them. His eyes quickly found Pansy and the two guys who accompanied her; he recognised the blonde as the one seated in the car with her, and he figured that the third had come with them too. In a brief moment of eye contact with the girl, Harry smiled politely at the approaching group.

As they approached the group of other counsellors, Pansy tried to update them on everyone, and their relations to one another. Draco tried to listen, but his mind was elsewhere. He had gone to camp to forget about Blaise and their failed relationship, yet those were the only two things on his mind. It was probably going to change as soon as the kids arrived, and he would be able to keep busy with teaching them, but right now it was mostly just pain.
Pansy knew this, obviously she did, which probably was why she tried to keep him engaged in the other counsellors, but while he appreciated the effort, then it didn't work. Blaise was still the only thing he could think about, and he hated himself for it, seeing as his ex probably was doing just fine without him around.
"I'm sorry, I zoned out. Who did you say teach beginners art?" He asked, figuring that he at least should figure out who he was sharing subject with. Even if advanced and beginners art was going to be two different classes, then he still wanted to be in touch with the other teacher, so they could exchange ideas, and maybe move students around, in case they had picked the wrong difficulty level. It just made sense.
"Luna Lovegood, the blond over there," Pansy said, and pointed to a tan girl with long he blonde hair, and a vacant expression in her eyes. Or no, not vacant. It was more dreamy. As if she was seeing a lot of things the rest of them weren't. "She's bunking in our cabin as well. She's a little odd, but overall she's a nice girl, and the kids adore her, so behave," she said in a stern voice, as she smiled and waved at somebody.
Draco turned to see who it was, even if it obviously weren't going to be anybody he recognised, but it was nice to get face on some of the people Pansy always blabbered about. It was a brown guy with bright green eyes who was waving at her, and from what little he knew about the people here, he guessed that he must be Harry, solely based on the scar.

When Pansy returned his wave, a toothy grin illuminated Harry's features. Without actually excusing himself from the conversation, Harry took a few strides towards her, each quicker than the last, and when he finally had her within reach, he caught her waist in an embrace. Whatever greeting he had in mind to say turned into a laugh when he briefly lifted her of her feet. "Long time," he stated in a laughing exhale, as he finally loosened his grip around her.
"It's very rude not to talk to your camp friends the rest of the year," Harry added, but nothing about his way of being showed any signs of actual offence. Not really expecting an answer to that, Harry moved his gaze across her shoulder, looking at the two guys who had moments before flanked her, only then did he completely let go of the girl before him. "Hi, how are you guys?"

Draco was surprised by the how heartfelt the reunion was. Sure, he knew that they only saw each other once a year, but it still seemed out of character for Pansy to let herself get hugged that intensely. It was odd, and it felt like he was intruding on a personal moment between the two of them. He wasn't really used to people being this pleased about seeing each other, and he was so busy being uncomfortable that he didn't notice that Harry had said anything, before Nott replied with a "good" and a shrug.
Draco just shrugged, not really knowing how to respond. He didn't really know how to react to any of it actually, so he just looks down at his feet.

Harry was slightly taken back my the lack of spirit in the two others - the one's he assumed were Theodore and Draco. Their muted answers momentarily made Harry uncertain whether or not he should pursue a conversation, and the slight glance he cast in Pansy's direction didn't give him any answer.
"I'm Harry, I teach the watersports class," he eventually figured was a relevant piece of information, and a friendly smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. "So if you ever feel like kayaking, just let me know."
It was fairly obvious that his comment fell flat across the board, so instead Harry once again turned to Pansy with a soft sigh. "Anyway, I'll see you later."
It was hard to read from his voice whether it was the singular or plural you but whether or not the comment was directed at Pansy, he still turned towards the two strangers with a polite smile. "It was nice meeting you," he said a bit absent-mindedly before turning to head for the lake.

The second Harry was out of sight, Pansy hit both Draco and Nott over the back of their heads. She didn't hit very hard, but the sentiment was clear; she thought that they both were being dicks. "What the **** was that about?" She asked, obviously not pleased with either of them. "Look, I know neither of you are warm and cuddly people, but you are at least going to be polite, and you better enjoy yourself, otherwise I will make sure that you are going to be absolutely miserable, understood?" She snapped, leaving Draco and Nott with nothing to do but just nod.
Sure, they weren't the most cheerful of people, especially not around people they weren't familiar with. Maybe they were a little too cold, but they had literally just arrived, and they were exhausted, at least Draco knew that he was. "Relax, we've just been in the car for god knows how many hours. We're exhausted, we'll be friendly tomorrow," Draco stated with a frown, and Nott hummed at that, obviously agreeing; which was a first.

Harry knew that there were new counsellors among them, and that he probably should have paid more attention to them, but honestly, they all seemed entertained enough. Lunch and dinner had gone by in a heartbeat, Harry himself trying to catch up with friends, and the time in between he had spend at the lake. Now, with the darkness finally settling around the (practically) empty camp, all the younger counsellors had gathered around the largest firepit.
Harry's hair was still damp from the shower he had taken a shower as he, seated next to Ginny on a log, had quite a bit to say about the way Seamus was arranging the campfire.
"You're gonna suffocate the flame," Ginny pointed out, leaning closer towards Harry to get a better view of the logs.
"You need more kindle," Neville offered to Harry's right.
"No way, he just needs to move - just take that out completely -" Harry said as he reached out to point at precisely what branch he would have moved, but Seamus just swatted his hand away. This made Harry laugh, and turned to eye Dean across the flames for an explanation, who just shrugged at his boyfriends temper.

Pansy had left Draco and Nott on their own, telling them that it would be good for them to socialise with the other counsellors, which they were attempting to do. Nott had started chattering with some guy who did something akin to woodwork too, and Draco had started discussing art with the girl Luna. It quickly became obvious that Luna's class was more of an arts and crafts kind of deal, and that she mostly cared about the kids having fun, which was fair, considering it was camp. They had fairly easily come to an agreement about swapping students who seemed like they would belong more on the other team, just so everybody could have the most enjoyable summer possible.
It had taken a while for Draco to get on the same frequency as Luna, but once he did, he found that she was an enjoyable person to be around. She seemed to care mostly about how the children were going to be doing on camp, and how she ensured that they would have as much fun as humanly possible. It was nice to meet someone like her, especially because Draco knew that he was going to be taking it all a little more seriously.

There were a handful of different conversations going on around the campfire, and with the freshly added wood creaking in the flames, nobody had really attempted on merging the conversation into one; that was, until Pansy's voice cut through it all. "Why don't we all introduce ourselves?"
To Harry (and most likely to everybody else present) it was fairly obvious that it wasn't an honest question; so when nobody objected to that, and silence fell among the group, Pansy turned towards Ginny. "Why don't you start?"
"Sure," Ginny said pleasantly as she straightened her back. The two girlswere on great terms since last year, and Ginny always seemed ready to implement Pansy's words. "My name is Ginny Weasley, I'm from a small town in Devon, and I'm going to teach the tree climbing class."
She turned towards Harry, who had attentively been watching her as she spoke. Seemingly infected by her smile, Harry turned to eye the rest of the group. "I'm Harry Potter and I'm teaching the water sports class."
"They're a couple," a girl from across the campfire added, turning slightly towards the new counsellors in the group, as this piece of information was directed at them. "If it wasn't obvious."
"No they're not," Pansy said calmly, making the girl turn to eye her in surprise, before turning towards the pair in question. Neither had seemed bothered by the assumption and Harry just shrugged as an explanation. Thankfully Pansy could answer on his behalf, "not any more, at least."

The conversations easily turned into whether or not dating even was allowed among counsellors, and Draco zoned out of the conversation at that. He had no intention of dating anyone here after all, so he doubted that it would be relevant for him. He had decided to focus on himself, and delving a little into his art again, before having to focus fully on medical school in September. He hadn't done much art while he was with Blaise, and he was kinda excited to get to work on himself for a bit.
He only sorta managed to zone in again when they continued their round, and Pansy introduced herself general counsellor. She went on to specify exactly what that meant, before letting the round go again, and Draco had to think of how even to introduce himself to this group of people. A lot of the other counsellors added things about what they were doing outside camp, but Draco didn't find that relevant. He was only here for the summer, and then he would be on to Paris to study medicine for god knew how many years. He wasn't really the type to come back to camp every single year to hang out with the same people, furthermore, he would probably be too busy with school anyway.
Once the round reached him, he settled on a short "my name is Draco. I will be teaching the advanced arts class."

Through out the conversation about dating in the workspace, Harry's eyes had been lingering on Ginny who seemed equally humoured. They had very smoothly transitioned from friends to a couple, and the recent reserve had happened just as easily. Harry genuinely loved Ginny, and he knew she loved him; they had just realised that that love was worth more being platonical than romantic.
Already familiar with what Pansy's position covered, Harry didn't turn his head before he heard an unfamiliar voice. He recognised the name as being one of the new counsellors he had said hello to when they had first arrived; but besides knowing that, Harry was hardly able to recognize him.
His pale skin and hair seemed to glow in the flickering light of the fire, making radiate in between the group dominated by brunettes. The changing light drew different contours on his features, and for a moment Harry was overwhelmed by the sight, well aware of the fact that Draco would be undoubtedly even more beautiful in daylight.
