Lilly Mellark sighed as she sat out in the forest, she passed through a hole in the fence to outside of the District. She sat high up in a tree waiting for something to come by. As she sat she reflected on what happened over the past few years.

Years after Katniss and Peeta had her and her younger brother, The Capitol started to become power hungry once more. When they saw that population was getting too big, The Capitol became blood hungry and brought back the nightmares that her parents fought to get rid of. The Hunger Games had returned. The 12 Districts were back, all hating and blaming each other for the comeback of the Games. Katniss and Peeta disappointedly couldn't do anything, being too old and in charge of District 12 was a chore, so going up against the Capitol was a bad idea.

This was the first year that the Games had returned, and the Reaping was that afternoon. Lilly decided to distract herself by trying to hunt for food for her family. Although her parents were the Mayor's that didn't mean that they didn't starve as well. She set her gaze upon a turkey in the distance, loading her arrow, and let it fly in all one quick pull. She retrieved the dead turkey and wandered back into the District are, being mindful of the Peace Keepers of course. She made it to her home in the Victors Village where she found only her brother home. Her parents off on mayoral business. Lilly put the bird on the table in wait for her parents to come home to cook it. Little did she know was that there would be no dinner for her tonight...

Donovan yawned and stretched sleepily. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes he pulled himself up off the small bed that occupied the bedroom in which they all shared. Even though his mother and father were kind of in charge of district 12, that didn't seem to stop them from being poor and starving along with the others. The world that his parents had fought so hard for was slowly slipping away and the power hungry had rose again. He looked around and noticed his sister had already gone... well wherever it was she went when she wasn't at home.
He got out of bed and headed towards the small kitchen/living room that they had. The walls were dark, and un-decorated save from a few pictures of Katniss' family. Their grandmother and Auntie Prim. Their mother seldom spoke about them, and their father didn't even mention his family. Neither of them seemed to want to talk about their lives beforehand, but Donovan could understand why. Shaking the thoughts of the past from his mind, he noticed his mother was already preparing their oatmeal for breakfast. It was always the same, but not having much money or food meant that he wouldn't complain. He knew though the thought of the reaping was bothering his mother... he'd heard them arguing about it last night.

Tommy had been up at the crack of dawn, down in the training center. He finally felt ready for the games and nothing was going to stand in his way. He could understand the need for them, to keep everyone in line... but why had their been such an uprising to begin with. Things had taken a long time to go back to the way they had been... and he was glad. There was so much more to the games, they weeded out the weak and unable and left the strongest surviving. Tommy felt like it cleansed society, and made them better for it. Of course all of this had been drummed into his head from being small, having been born from one of the game-makers originally they could explain what was so important about it. He finished up his training sometime before 11 and headed into their grandiose kitchen with painted walls and expensive furnishings, a fridge that was never empty. They had servants who cooked and cleaned for them. It was a life of complete luxury. The cooks had already prepared his breakfast and it sat on the breakfast bar waiting, taking a seat he sat down and began to eat hungrily.

When Lilly came into the kitchen when she got home she put the bird on the table. "Morning." She said to her brother who had been eating oatmeal, she looked at the stove and saw another bowl and some oatmeal left in the pot. She smiled and messed up Donovan's hair before filing the bowl with food and sitting down to eat. She noticed that her brother looked more tired today than he had any other day. "Couldn't sleep last night?" She asked caring about her younger brother. Usually older sisters and hungry brothers didn't get along, but that was never the case with Lilly and Donovan, they always card for each other and seldom fought, and that was okay with Lilly.

Crystal sighed softly as she got dressed for the day. She had decided not to train that morning and decided to sleep in a little bit just in case she was called. It didn't bother her that she might get called, in her district she was raised to believe that the games were a good way to keep the districts in line, especially after the rebellion. Crystal gave a yawn and decided to go outside to see if Tommy was out. For a long time she had a crush on him but he never seemed to notice. She didn't really mind however. She wasn't ready for a relationship so she preferred just to flirt with him instead of actually acting on her feelings about him.
