Kai was quiet the entire way. Lost in her thoughts about what was about to happen, she didn't even take in everything around them. The path leading to the glade was peaceful. A little foot path big enough for two people lined with trees and various other plants. Keeping her gaze ahead of her, she didn't notice that some plants had already started to push up through the snow, breaking free from their temporary icy prison.
The closer they got, the harder her heart started to pound behind her ribs, her hands shaking. She tried to take deep breaths to calm herself, but that didn't seem to help any.
Once they stopped, she turned to face Warren. Taking his face in her hands, she kissed him lovingly for a brief moment before looking him in the eye.
"I love you," she said. "I know you've been confused and maybe a little conflicted about that over the last few days, but I want you to know that my feelings haven't changed a bit. After all we've been through...nothing could make me love you any less. I really wish we didn't have to do this; that I didn't have to claim you like this. But I'd do anything for you."
One more kiss and she pulled away, slowly backing away and only stopping when there was a good five yards between them.
"I just hope you forgive me once it's all over."
With that, she shifted where she stood. In her wolf form, she took a fighting stance; the snow crunching as her claws dug into it. It would have been nice to just sit there and enjoy the view of the water, but this had to be done. Kai would never be ready for it, so now was as good a time as any.
