Kate eyes lit up. "How about a plant that lives all the time and we could make things smell nice. It is edible to add to tea."

Kate looked over at Trillen, "Would you like that? You can have more than one. We can put several in your room and one in the kitchen window for tea. Spearmint or peppermint."

Kate tore leaves off the solid green plant with small leaves. then she rubbed it between her palms and held her hands under Trillian's nose.

"Do you like? It's delicious in tea. I mixed some in you tea and hot chocolate."

Trillen nodded even before she placed the crush leaves under his nose. That sounded both useful and fun to do. Though when she placed the strong smelling plant under his nose, he recoiled just a little bit. More from the unexpected smell than from it actually being bad. Getting over the shock of such a smell, he leaned in and took a sniff. It was a wonderful aroma. Fragrant and sweet smelling was how he would describe it. He liked it a lot and couldn't wait to have a few plants in his room. On a nice breezy day, he could have the scent of peppermint in his room. It was a lot better than the scent of sweaty bodies. Namely his own of course.

"Hot chocolate? You mean I can have hot chocolate?" There was awe in his voice at such a treat. He had heard about the hot drink, but never thought he could have it. It was a luxury reserved for those who could afford to melt and water down chocolate. Mostly, chocolate was so rare where he came from, it wasn't something people melted for the fun of. Melted and re-solidify a water down version to sell, but never to drink themselves. "Is it as good as people say it is?"

Kate squeezed his hand, "Yes it is. Even better. After we shop I will take you to get some hot chocolate; a few sweet cakes; and tasty tartlets. You can take sweets home for later."

Kate adored his excitement and wanted him to try the foods forbidden to him. She chose a speriment plant and picked up two flowering plants.

The Gardner looked at Trillian as he picked up a pot of daylillies and foxgloves. "These bloom year around and are hearty even in winter. A strawberry plant can be grown indoors."

Trillen grinned back at Kate. Slowly though, his gaze started to look at the other flowers. Some were in bloom and some weren't. That didn't stop the area from being a wide array of colors and even shapes. It was like no two plants were exactly alike. Even ones of the same type! It all brought wonder to him as he turned his head toward the gardener when he spoke. Looking at the two plants, he nodded and reached for them. "Really? Don't they like to climb everywhere?" He was curious about that. If he could grow strawberries in his room, he totally would. After all, who wouldn't want a ripe, sweet strawberry at just about anytime of the day?

The man grinned showing a tooth or two was missing he grabbed a fat pot that stood 3' tall. "Here ya are. It's got holes for yah to plant each little plant. It will inter-twine on itself. It will not take over more than the pot. Soon yah will be eaten the juicyiist strawberries all year."

Kate was excited to have fruit growing in the house. "You can place this by the bathroom window; there is a lot of light. The when it is warmer putit and a tomato plant on the balcony. You can you own garden up in your room and outside.

"The gardener left for a moment and returned carrying a fully gown furn. "This bute loves the humidity in the bathroom and lots of sunlight. Ya will need to gine it a few spritzes of water often."

Kate looked at it. "Yes. That could go in the bathroom down the hall."

Kate saw a small tree in the corner. "That tree, what is it, sir? What kind of light does it need?"

The man picked up the tree by the trunk and set it down at Trillan's feet, "This MiLady is a Ficus. It needs partial light."

Kate placed her right index finger to her lips. "What do you think Trillan? You have am empty corner by the balcony door and your desk. Would you like a small tree?"

Trillen eyes widened at the tree before he rapidly shook his head. "No tree Miss Kate! That would be a little much for me all at once." He figured he would have enough time and trouble/effort taking care of the strawberry plant and the fern. Even the future tomato plant and the others would probably keep him fairly busy. Adding a tree onto that? No thank you. What would happen if it got too big? Where would he put it then? Never mind that it was the type of tree that didn't actually grow big. Trillen didn't exactly know that. Though that wasn't the only factor affecting his decision of course. He really wanted to start small so one to two small plants fit right in with that idea.

Kate heard the plea in his voice, "All right you want to start with the small plants. We can get more later."

Kate turned to the gardener, "Have the strawberry pot, few starter strawberry plants, and the furn delivered to the Lyons manor. How much do we owe you?"

The gardener counted on his finger, "6 ducats. I will have them delivered this afternoon, Miss Lyons. Will there be anything else?"

"No. Thank you, Sir."

The mage whispered to Trillian. "6 silver."

"You days of fetch and carry are over."

Trillen blinked at that last comment. He didn't mind the fetch and carry to be completely honest. Especially now since he would be doing it out of his own accord. And the accord of manners of course, but that didn't mean he couldn't choose to follow or not follow those rules. It was nice to have freedom of choice and even nicer to know he could exercise that any time he wanted. "I do not mind carrying anything you may get Miss Kate. It would be interesting to see what you like and what you do not like." He blushed a little at the comment, but gave her a small smile. It would be nice to know what did and did not spark the mage's interest. For right now though, he could be grateful he didn't have to lug plants all around the city. He didn't think he would be up for that.

"Where too next?"

Kate walked out the door and stood outside and faced Trillen, "You want to know what I like. The candy store is across the street.They have the kingdoms best treats and fudge. There is a magic shoppe around the corner. A novelty shop of unusual things and pretties. How would you like to open a box and hear music? Not like my snow globe type of music. An enchanted box, where mythological creatures play and dance."

Trillen blinked at Kate's words. He was facing overload at the moment. Just the mere mention of the candy shop had done it. He had never been allowed any sort of sweets. Not before and now that he was free...Oh, the possibilities were just endless! Of course the fact that he would get a stomachache went right by him.

"I can...Miss Kate, can we go to the candy shop? I have never really had anything sweet before I was brought here." He rubbed the back of his head, looking just a little bit ashamed. At what, even he didn't quite know. Probably at his lack of knowledge again.

Kate gave him a big smile, "Yes. You can. I warn you do not eat but one to two pieces between meals. Too much sugar will rot you teeth and give you tummy aches. Until you see the dentist, no hard candies. I do not want you cracking your teeth. I will let you know what candies are safe. There a very large and hard candies call jaw breakers. You need a hammer to break it. I suggest nothing bigger than a button. Go easy on chocolate. It breaks you face out will pimples. Sweets every now and then is rewarding."

Kate led in to a colorful shop, "feast you eyes, Trillan."

The shop was five shelves deep of candies from all over the world. To left inside the shop was a wooden counter over a two shelved glass display of fudge, chocolate truffles, chocolate turtles, and chocolate covered fruit.

Kate entered and breathed in the aromas of fudge, freshly heated chocolate, and taffy being pulled by two teen boys in the shop window.

Trillen seriously listened to Kate. She was giving out good advice on sweets. Naturally though as Trillen stepped into the shop, all that went out the window. He had never seen any sort of thing that was both so colorful and huge! Reds, blues, greens, multicolors. All swirled before his eyes as they jumped from one shelf to the next. When he stepped forward, he had to keep himself in check. Otherwise, he would be running through the store trying to take it all in. Most if not all the shelves were in easy reach and that just tempted him more.

Taking a deep breath, he almost regretted it. The smell of chocolate almost caused him to drool and run amok. Placing the through firmly in his head that Kate would not let him buy everything, he slowly started to browse the shelves, looking for something that caught his eyes. He spotted the jawbreakers almost right away and agreed with Kate on them. They didn't look like his cup of tea. All white with specks of many colors darting its round form, it was as big as he imagined his eyeball would be. That wasn't very appealing. Not in the least.

Now the gummy like candys...Those appealed to him. He picked up a worm and dangled it in front of Kate. "This one okay?"

Kate laughed as he dangled the candy worm she tore half and ate it. She gave him the other half, Haha, Trillen, They are ok, get a whole scoop they are sour and sweet.. go ahead try it. You can taste on for free. There are peppermint sticks they are so good in hot cocoa. Try this one is butterscotch, see if you like it, not everyone likes it."

Poking his half of the worm, he quickly stuck in it his mouth. Chewing it, he decided he liked the mixture of the two flavors. The sour helped make it not too sweet and the sweet helped to dampen the sour. Just a perfect combination in his opinion. By passing the peppermint, he picked up a butterscotch. It was a pale yellow and hard. Remembering what she said about cracking his teeth, Trillen was careful not to bite down on it. As the naturally salty sweet (to him anyway) filled his mouth, he made his face. He really didn't like it, but suffered through it. He hadn't really seen anywhere to spit it out and it would be rude to just leave it on the floor. Once it was gone, he shook his head at Lady Kate. "I am one of those people. I do not much care for it."

Kate offered her handkerchief to him, "Spit it out. There are more candies and fudge to try. The peppermint is good in tea too. Taste this sample of chocolate and pecan fudge. Later you can have chocolate. Too much and you will get sick. You are not used to sweets and a hyper Trillan will not be good. I do need you bouncing off the walls, a figure of speech. Gum drops are fruity and like gummy bears. I don't like taffy because it is too difficult to eat. Taffy sticks to your teeth. I don't mind you getting a bag full of assorted candies, chocolate truffles, and fudge. Make the bag last several weeks and do not eat all the sweets in one day."

Kate filled a bag with assorted hard candies, chocolates, truffles, and fudge. She gave him a bag and helped him pick different samples. " Some candies hot with pepper oils and sugar coating. Jelly beans have all kinds of fruit flavors. These are chocolate with candy coating. Those with tinfoil are chocolate drops with nuts in the center. The hard candies with fruit swirls are called lollypops. "
When his bag wad full Kate said with a smile, "We will come back and you can try more next month. Be sure you make the hard candies last."

Shaking his head, he swallowed the candy instead. Luckily, it was small enough that it didn't choke him. So while it might have been a bad idea, he was thinking that ruining her handkerchief was a lot worse. Of course, hankderchiefs were made for a lot worse, but Trillen didn't know that. Yet anyway. Deciding to follow her advice, he took a nibble of the fudge and found he liked that one a lot better. A look of bliss crossed his face and he accidentally tuned out Kate when she was talking about the other candies. Oops.

He only tuned back in when he was given a sack to fill. Blinking at it, he immediately went back to the gummy worms and stuck in a handful of the colorful, chewy candies. He figured he could easily make that handful last till their next visit. That or eat them all and find out just how bad of an idea that was. "Yes Miss Kate. I think just the gummy worms for now." He wasn't feeling too adventurous after the butterscotch candy. Maybe on their next visit.

"Where to next?"

Kate was surprised he swallowed the candy. He did not use the hanky."Trillen, I have to be careful with you. Keep my handkerchief in you coat. Just in case you need to sneeze or spit something up. It can be washed and used again." Kate saw him get only gummy worms but said nothing. "How tired are you? Do you want to take a break shopping or go to another store?"

Trillen kept the hankie in his pocket, but didn't understand why she would have to be careful with him. He wasn't fragile and if anything, it should be him that had to be careful of her. After all, he did owe her quite a bit at the moment and didn't want to give her cause to regret it. At her question though, he realized just how tired he was. Not tired like he could fall asleep any minute. More like mentally tired. It was a lot to take in. And basically all in one day to boot too! He actually wasn't too terribly surprise that he was tired. "I am tired. Not by much! Just a little bit!" He held his hands up as he protested just how tired he was. He wasn't trying to lie to her, it was just instinct as he didn't want to ruin her fun. "What would be the next store on the list?"

Kate laced her fingers with his. "Trillen this has been fun. We can come back and shop. I am tired lets save the magic shop for another day. Do you mind if we go home? We can come back there is more to see."

The mage had not shopped in a while like this. She knew Trillen had to be tired of standing. Kate loved to see the sparkle in his eyes and the anticipation in his voice. Her feet were starting to hurt and she had to save some shops for another day.

Trillen looked down at their intertwined fingers and could feel a blush creeping up his cheeks. Though it was nice to hear he wasn't the only one that was tired. "That sounds like a wonderful plan miss Kate. I do not mind. After all, most of my days seem to be free now." And that was still a wonderful feeling. The fact he could now make plans with people to just hang out. He rarely had to see anyone he didn't want too. He was free to choose. Free to live. Free to speak his mind. It was still a lot to get his head wrapped around he realized.

"What is on the plate for tomorrow?" As much as he loved shopping, he hoped he had a little bit of break before that. He wanted to set up his plants and make sure they weren't gonna die to soon. That would just be sad and he didn't want to see them have such a short life like that. "Cause I was thinking about placing the plants around my room and I would like some help with that." The blush was out in full force and he looked towards the sky, wondering if she would make a comment on it.
