For generations Drakenthorne had been without magic. People lived average lives. Farming. Building cities. Kingdoms. Then one day the world was to change forever. Magic appeared. Many scrambled to use it to their advantage.

But the magic was too strong to be controlled easily. The world fell into chaos. New creatures were created from the fusion of magic and fae forces and humanity. Eventually life settled into a state of uneasy truce. Scientifically two schools of thought formed. One was to ignore .again and industrialize. The other was to find a way to harness the magic. Eventually new societies formed and the world sat in control of forces they didn't fully understand.

Drakenthorne is designed to be an open Sandbox Rpg open to all. It's designed to allow you the player to help form it's full history and to shape it's future.

It's a Steampunk/Arcanepunk world where the average technology level would be somewhere between the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century.

The world has figured out how to harness magic to their advantage. It's use can be found powering homes to city leveling cannons.

Some people are capable of wielding magic themselves. These people are referred to as mancers.
There are eight distinctive forms of magic one can practice.

Gearmancy - the ability to summon and control machines of various types.

Teslamancy- the ability to manipulate and control electricity.

Vapormancy- control of steam/water

Pyromancy-control of fire and flames

Geomancy- control of earth and rock

Zephyrmancy- control of air and wind.

Luxomancy- control of light and shadow

Entropomancy - control of basic luck and probability (restricted)

Most mancers live among others with no trouble. However of late growing factions of people have emerged calling for the imprisonment of mancers or their outright culling. And those among the mancer community that see themselves as superior to others and calling for an overthrow of the world.

Playable races: I'm open to discussion on this but I am putting a few restrictions in place here. Nothing like being a full dragon or a god or demigod.

What is acceptable. Humans. Automatons. Fae creatures (elves, spriggans and the like) vampires and werewolves (again within reason. No being five thousand years old and knowing about everything and having godlike powers. Likewise no fuzzy chainsaws capable of destroying a town without breaking a sweat. )

Some created races you can use.

Marrionettes: a people comprised of magic that inhabited a form not unlike that of a person sized doll. Many have characteristics of ball joint dolls. They are in some cases fleshy (or at least of a sort of pliable porcelain feeling material) and in some cases not.

There are other sorts of magical powers not inside of the scope of normal magic some of these are frowned on by polite society for obvious reasons. Such as necromancy, skinriding, dreameating. Some are simply not considered "real" magic such as fortune telling and acting as a medium. These arts are referred to as hedge magic.

The primary story will be set in the largest city of the continent. Titans reach.

Titans reach is the capital city of the region and is ruled by a chancellor along with a council half comprised of mancers and non mancers. Laws are enforced by the nights watch which acts as the constabulary.

Places worth visiting.

The Music Box- A popular tavern run by A couple by the name of Will and Amalie Johns. Noted for a rich, potent malty beer called Golden Dragon and it's spiced potatoes and sausage, the Music Box is a common place to find almost anyone. From adventurers looking for work to engineers to mancers anyone might be found here. A side room promises hookahs and live entertainment.

The Orpheum theater- take in a show. Nightly burlesque review and follies on the weekend. Also weekly performances by the renowned illusionist Prof. J. Ronan Orpheus.

The Titans hanging gardens.-Maintained by one family since the cities inception, the gardens can be a good place for a moonlit stroll. Or to make an illicit deal.

More to come. Here's what I'm looking for if you're interested.
