One a cold rainy afternoon Miranda had entered Starbucks. She was delivering a package to her brother in the army. He had just made Lieutenant. He was now in his 2nd year. Miranda missed her brother. She has not seen him in 10 months. The last time she saw him, he had his 24th birthday. It was a huge party. Everyone from family, schoolmates, and neighbors. All came to see Mike, the football hero of Quarter main High. It was a small town, everyone knew each other for generations back. The town had a veterans' plaque at city hall. The dates were far back at 1798, when the town was founded.
Miranda sent him a care package filled with cookies, letters from at least a dozen people, and animal magazines. Miranda just made editor. She sent Mike several copies. All kinds of animals were featured.
She even sent a picture of her riding an elephant. The circus had come to town and she featured the various animals. Each one has a main heading and history. She was given a special commortative coin. She included the coin and small note that had these words, "This coin protected 6 men. May it protect you too."
Miranda did not know where Mike was stationed she sent it to his address in Officer Candidate School in hopes he would get it. He received it Christmas Day in Hamburger, Turkey. The war had come to Turkey. The Turks tried to stay neutral they were attacked. Now All of Europe was in World War III. America had been in the war five long years. China joined the resurgents. Congress refused any atomic weapons.
Miranda presented her RFF card, Rationed for food card. She hopped the war would be over soon. She and Mike arranged a code. Any and all correspondence Mike had was continuously watched or read. They made a special code reveal where they were and not be caught. Miranda used types of animal food to let family know where she was. Mike used names of supplies in Joe's Grocery and Seed Store to places he was stationed.
