For this particular thread: I am wondering what worlds, realms, and places people love most to write in or dream about.

Mine exist on two levels almost equally depending on mood. Middle-earth, the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien, and Star Wars - that pesky war torn galaxy far away. I suppose in Star Wars, to choose a specific world would be either Chandrila, Naboo, or Hapes...most likely Naboo.

I have soooo many places I love, mostly from games, it's so hard to choose. A lot of times, it changes with my mood; I like to draw inspiration from places that catch my eye.

Right now, at the top of the list is Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, a city from Dark Souls III. It's so haunting and mysterious, and I love snowy/places so much. I find the atmosphere to be very captivating in so many ways.

(looks like I'll have to edit this later, with some more pictures of my own because Google seems to be lacking in pictures of the streets. The view is gorgeous though!)

I couldn't be bothered to fight my way through to get to some of the better shots, admittedly :,) But I think that's enough anyway lol

Another Dark Souls location. This time from Dark Souls II.

This evening twilight <3 It looks better ingame, though. Also, not my image. I don't have PS3 capture...

Okay, steering away from Dark Souls before I go off on a tangent, I love the Shadow Hearts universe. It's basically an alternate historical setting, with dark magic, tragic romance, and spoopy things.

Okami is such a beautiful game. It isn't for everyone, but the art style... well...

I also really like the world of Drakengard. It presents itself as this weird, parallel world to ours. As the best way to explain it. I still don't understand a lot of it myself.

As far as books go, I love the world of Harry Potter.

That's about all I can think of at the moment.

When I think favorite world, three come to mind:
First is The Witcher, mostly as presented in the video games.
Second is Mass Effect, which is my favorite Space Opera (yes, even more than Star Wars)
Third is the Codex Alera, a book series by Jim Butcher I wish more people would read.
If anyone ever wants to do an RP in these, make sure to call me up for that.

For me, the world is my first love... Middle Earth. I have done 88% of my RP and fanfic writing in this realm. I will always be at home with the world J.R.R. Tolkien created.

Other book worlds I love and write primarily fanfics in is Glen Cook's Black Company. It is vage and dark, and really a polar opposite of Tolkien's Middle Earth. Also, Frank Herbert's Dune, Steven Erikson's Malazan, Raymond Chandler's Marlowe world, and Ray Bradbury's Illustrated Man. I write shorts for that.

Speaking of Ray Bradbury, I saw the trailer for the new Farenheit 451 movie! It is looking awesome!

Mmm, what an intriguing question.

Since I was very young, I have returned in my deepest dreams to a Mall the size of... Everything.

It's a place I've wandered, inter-mingling with countless individual faces; buying frozen food & milk at a Costco I *Knew* was connected to this impossible shopping complex, or wandering an interconnected web of moving escalators which would shift position, or standing upon a circular steel ring suspended in space & gazing out across an immense indoor promenade. I've trodden into the furthest reaches of this mall; the lonely shoe store in a far corner where the air felt tense; like a lonely alleyway on a late night when you're drunk - to the very top: exploring the exits to a roof which I've never looked over, but knew my height & danger at the top were immeasurable. This mall possessed every store possible, for countless needs; book stores, clothing stores for styling which do, don't, will one day, and never exist, to books in languages my mind could not comprehend.

I have witnessed crimes in this place; seen suffering & joy in this place; tricked & cajoled others in this Infinite Mall. I have purchased things: strange artifacts or ideas which my spirit remembers but my mind does not. I have been disappointed... and elated... in this Infinite Mall.

It's been many years since I've wandered, hidden amongst the masses, through a mall whose security were ill prepared for a being such as I. Perhaps I'll find myself there in the nights to come, now that I've spoken about it.

I'm also quite fond of Fantasy Settings & Cyberpunk Worlds. Kinda how I expect the Future to look...

Towers of Stone, whether Concrete or Obsidian, are majestic. Are they not?
