So, since I like creating 'share your favorites' threads, I thought I'd do it with movies, why not? I don't have as much time as I'd like to watch movies, but I'm always looking around for some gems. So, share with me? Names, dates, anything you like. And, naturally, why you liked it!

I guess I'll start with a somewhat generic one - King Kong movies. I used to be scared to death of Kong as a child, for some reason. And yet, I was fascinated with the movies. The one with Jessica Lange (1976) was probably the first one I watched, and then I went on to have a keen interest and go digging around for new ones. The one from 2005 was nice because I like Adrien Brody and, naturally, the work was a lot better on Kong himself, but the one from 1976 will always have that special place in my heart.

@"extraordinaiinsley" Ghibli is flawless. My favorites are Arietty and Spirited Away. They're just so - very artistic. They don't rush.

Other favorite movies include The Shawshank Redemption (read the script first on accident, then a good four years later finally actually watched it with @GreyHelm), as well as The Green Mile. Because god damn, they hurt in such an excellent way. Wait, how could I forget The Boy In The Striped Pajamas?! Hoo, boy. Oceans of tears were shed at that one.

Only doing 1x1s and tiny groups for now due being generally busy. If you have a cool idea, feel free to approach me, though, alas, even the most awesome adventures must be passed up on sometimes.

Watched Dirty Dancing last night - way overdue, but I usually take a long, long time before I watch something. I have to confess I liked it better than I thought I would.

And Patrick Swayze, dear Lord. The scene when Baby sees everyone dancing in the way they only do in private for the first time was a lot of fun, too. Old, but gold, I'd say. 10/10 recommend.

Also, @Fearless Sissy, I love The Green Mile with a passion.

Just finished watching "Creed", 10/10 recommend. Had been meaning to watch it since it came out, but better late than never. =)

Spoiler alert below, open at your own discretion:

Rocky's cancer was super heartbreaking, and I totally thought he would die during the fight like Micky did. Grew up with Rocky, so at least he didn't die during the movie, I'd have been crushed by it, probably. Him going to Paulie's and Adrien's graves was pretty sweet and sad at the same time, as well.

First thing, I can only repeat:
Studio Ghibli! must watch and great ones! In my own favourites, Howls Moving Castle wins with a tiny margin Over Princess Mononoke and Chihiro ... but honestly, all of them, especially the 'older' Ghibli movies are touching and deep.

...
...
(dramatic pause, to honor the memories)
...
...

*coughs*

Uh ... Since I am really not up to date to European/American Film /Movie production (Maybe besides The Game of Thrones <3)

I will recommend a tidbit of asian culture here... I am 95% watching asian(korean chinese japanese, sometimes Taiwanese) things since a few (7+?) years so it will be mostly found online with english subtitles and the native language. - Because, asian culture still rarely reaches into the western world.
But It got better in the last years, I could secure a copy of the must watch IP- Man anthology, for cultural and martial arts fans.

Moving, onto some recommendations, I just picked 1-2 from each side, save the chinese ones, because its just me that is crazy about martial arts here .. !scared haha

If you dont mind, watch at your own risk:

The Thieves (Korean) Movie - comedy and action
The Healer (Korean TV /Film Series) - This is action and some romance

Yuuki (Japanese) Movie - if you want to watch something sad and touching
Ando Lloyd - A.I. Knows Love? (Japanese TV/Film series) if you want to watch a romantic and funny android :3

Oh and for 'gender bender' lovers :
Bromance (2015 TV Series) - female dresses as male and then falls in love...
Its a pretty fun watch, and while I have watched some series where female actresses could not pull off the 'male' role, this one positively surprised me!

For lovers of Historical Tales/ Fantasy :
Iljimae (Korean) - A tale about a Hero, similar to the western 'Robin Hood' - a funny action series.

Alright I will stop here, otherwise this topic might be flooded !psychotic

In case you are interested, but cant find them online - message me, I will provide sources with english subs. Usually though, especially korean ones are very easy to find :)

Doing a Kong marathon lately.

Watched the 2005 one first, then last night the 1976 one with Jessica Lange. It was amazing to see her so young and as a fresh face (marked with "Introducing" in the movie credits).

I'm with "Kong lives" lined up to watch next, and then the last one will be the original 1933 one. I'm not even ashamed to confess my obsession. XD

The Princess Bride. Highly quoteable. I grew up on this movie. It's made me laugh and smile. I love the cast and the the whole entire romantic storyline.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I love the world and the story. The music and the epic battles are brilliant.
Phenomenal cast.

The Last Unicorn. The animation is beautiful. I love the story and it was one of my favorite movies as a child. I still really enjoy it.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Highly quoteable. Absolutely hilarious! Sir Robin's ministrels are especially great.

Guardians of the Galaxy. First off, love the soundtrack. It's effectively able to be both funny and serious. Plus, the cast is fantastic!
