You know it's bound to happen... During a conversation, you say something that's innocent enough with the rest of the conversation intact but without, it takes on a whole new meaning.

This thread is devoted purely to those gems.

So, give us those pearls of misleading lines! We're as thrilled about the awkward as you probably are now that you've found it!

I'm beyond certain I've said something worthy of this thread at some point in time here, perhaps many. This one stands out in my memory. It's innocent, I swear it.

Back in my brother's gaming group, where I first learned RPG....

My friend had recently joined our group -- she was a super innocent, sweet, kind of naive little gal, only a few years in the US, from Norway.

Our characters were deep into this cloud castle, having finally defeated our arch nemesis, in a rather pitched confrontation. Complication... the daemon-goddess whom said arch-nemesis served, was coming to transport the whole place back to Hades. We had to clear out quick, or else go with it.

So, the guy we relied upon to work teleportation, with an enchanted device, one Nimrod Nightstealer by name, was pretty absorbed checking out loot and magic items in this vast chamber. The rest of us began to get pretty frantic, to get his attention, and get the hell out of the place. Particularly my friend, who was rather caught up in this new experience of role play. And proceeds to tell my brother, our GM:

"My character runs down the hall, [i]fast[/i] as she can go, yelling- NIMROD! NIMROD! NIMROD! WORK YOUR THING! WORK YOUR THING!! QUICK!!!! BEFORE SHE COMES!!!"

Her grasp of her second language, and all its slang, especially the adult kind, wasn't quite there for her to understand why we all suddenly broke out laughing.

When I still wasnt familiar with US-Slang.. i was playing that market bread selling character:

My sister and I were talking about something (the full conversation is forgotten) and my mom happened to come into the room at the exact point that I shouted, "And the panties will be flying!"
