Sparkley- I have the GoT books and plan on reading them, but I've been hesitant. I want to read something that is fresh and new, but I'm worried it's exactly like the TV show... is it any different? Is it worth reading if I've seen the show twice already (except for the recent season)?

I didn't like them. I love the show, but the books were... boring. To me. I hated every single character and I didn't care whenever something bad happened to anyone. I stopped half-way through book three so not to ruin the tv series.

Breaking bad was a good show. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy it as much as some other shows. Everyone seems to loooove it, but a few episodes were a hit and miss. I also didn't care for any of the character's well being except for Jessie. The family drama with the wife was also too much for me.

Masterchef really is a great show, especially considering it's a reality competition show. I hate almost everything 'reality tv'.

Even though I've only seen one episode, "Salem" is now on my list.

Is it good? I saw a moment of it and it had some cringe worthy acting. Maybe it was just that scene but, I dunno. I was curious though.

It really is good. The characters are very believable and while it is graphic it is worth watching for sure.

I don't watch a lot of TV but when I do I watch a handful of shows. Only two of which are coming to mind: MLP: FiM and Criminal Minds.

Corrin, the Golden Age of Television was the 1970s. But I agree, there are some good programs on today. Some of my current favorites include:

The Walking Dead
Falling Skies
Fringe
Criminal Minds
NCIS: Los Angeles
Hawaii Five-O
Modern Family
The Middle

I was just keeping it in a near term perspective.

I have entirely too many to truly share, but a few I suppose would be okay.

Babylon 5
Star Trek (all of them, though haven't seen Discovery yet)
Star Wars: Rebels
Battlestar Galactica (original)
Buck Rogers
TJ Hooker
Walker, Texas Ranger
Designated Survivor
Buffy

I didn't share all my faves either, just the ones I have been watching most recently.

I got a DVD set of the old U.S. Vietam TV show 'China Beach' for Christmas and started watching that. Love it!

TV shows have only been getting better with time, and I think we're in a golden age right now where some TV shows are better than Movies. So I'm wondering, what are everyone's favourite TV shows (present or past)? I'm asking because I'm curious, and I'm looking to discover something new.

My favourite TV shows are:

Battlestar Galactica
Firefly
Lost
Jericho
The Walking Dead
Game of Thrones
Reboot (from my childhood)

I also watched all of Breaking Bad, but I don't consider it my favourite. I enjoyed it, but it lacked something for me.

but I can provide a list of some popular and critically acclaimed TV shows that you might find interesting:

The Sopranos
The Wire
Mad Men
The Crown
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Stranger Things
Narcos
Orange Is the New Black
Black Mirror
Fargo
These shows cover a wide range of genres and styles, from crime dramas to period pieces to science fiction. Hopefully, you'll find something new and exciting to watch from this list!
