There was once a time when our planet was beginning to die.

This was long before my current time, of course-I was only born fifteen years ago. No, the time I'm talking about was your time, in the turn of the second millenium. Well, it was for you, at least. Earthquakes and tsunamis, erupting volcanoes and blistering winter storms lashed the lands, turning once perfect lands into wastelands. Of course, this wasn't entirely your fault, either-we all know that it was the fault of several generations of humans before you, destroying the planet in order to further their own plans for boundless wealth. Not that it did them any good, in the end.

Anyway, it got to the point where people began to actually notice. Only by then, it was too late-or so they'd thought, because something completely unexpected happened. A Goddess appeared, one who was real, tangible and touchable, directly in front of you. Oh, not you personally, dear reader-this was a little bit after your time. Maybe you lived to see it, I don't know, but it's likely you didn't.

Now, the Goddess was very upset at how the planet She had created had been treated by Her children, but She was still willing to give us another chance. However, that doesn't mean She completely healed the planet and brought back all the dead animals and plants-no, what she did was to take six hundred girls and six hundred boys, then combined each one of them with a particular cat. These cats were the Cheetah, Black Panther, Lion, Tiger, Snow Leopard or Iriomote Wildcat. Once She had finished with these chosen children, she chose two more, a boy and a girl, to be combined with one more very special cat-the Jaguar.

At first, it was thought that the only changes in these children were their appearances, for each gained the distinctive eyes of the cats they'd been combined with, but it was soon discovered that there was more to it than that. Each child had gained control of an element, and once this was discovered, governments across the world began trying to gain control of the children.

The children had seen this coming, however, for the children that had been combined with the Tigers, Snow Leopards and Jaguars had seen glimpses of the future within their elements. Working together, they had created an island floating in the air, where they could live in peace and tranquility while they worked to repair what had been done to our planet. There were many attempts to capture the island, of course, and the children soon learned to fight in order to protect themselves from those who sought to control them. The two Jaguar children rose to the forefront of their kind, and announced that they needed to take action in order to prevent further needless deaths and injuries.

With this in mind, the children came forth from their island, revealing their true strength as the fighter jets and battle ships of your time were all proved to be worthless when it was the elements themselves being wielded against them. However, not one person was harmed in the battle, the children point blank refusing to kill the people that had come to fight them and instead worked to save the lives of everyone they could.

They entered hospitals and homes, healing regular people of their afflictions and addictions alike, sending them out into the world healthier than they ever had been in their lives. Wind farms found that they were being filled with more air than they should have been, and nuclear and coal power plants were shut down and carefully dismantled, quickly returning to their natural states without even a single meltdown. Finally, the Jaguar children themselves spoke to the governments of the world, their voices clearly heard for the first time, as the people running them had realised that there was nothing they could do to keep the children from doing as they liked.

"We are the Jaguars. You have seen the Cheetahs wield Light, and the Black Panthers use Shadow. You have seen the Tigers swim as if they were fish, and the Lions burn their own bodies without harm. You have seen the Snow Leopards fly, and the Iriomote Wildcats produce forests and mould mountains with their bare hands. We say to you now, that we can do all that and more. We are the Goddess's Voice on this planet, and we are the only ones other than She who is capable of wielding the six elements, though we are not as strong as She. Hear us now, for we speak true: You will not continue to treat the planet as you have! We will tear down your nuclear reaction plants the instant they are completely built, we will destroy the weaponry you seek to build. You cut down our forests, and we shall retrieve the wood and begin anew after destroying your tools. You seek to hunt every last fish in the sea, and we shall take your boats high into the mountains and leave them there to rust. We will not stand for the stupidity that you have allowed!"

Their voices were loud and terrible as they spoke, and the governments, in their shock that mere children could be so powerful, tried to laugh at them. The Jaguar children reacted to their laughter by taking the leader of one country, who had been told that he had only a short amount of time to live due to the lung cancer ravaging his body, and used light to remove every last bit of the disease from him. On seeing this, the governments were silenced, the eyes of everyone there wide in amazement. Finally, they began to accept that they were no longer the ones in control, that the Goddess had chosen their leaders for them, and that these children, who had healed and improved the world, would likely do a far better job than they ever had.

And the children did do exactly that, though it was soon discovered that the children they had with each other were all normal humans. However, some children who had been brought up on the land below began to change with puberty, their eyes changing colour and developing cat-like pupils and the powers that went with them. With this discovery, the Jaguars decreed that all children born on the floating island would be fostered on the ground below, and that it would be all children, not just their own, that would be fostered from the age of five. While this caused a great uproar at first, it was soon accepted that this would likely be best for the children, as it meant that should their powers emerge and they have to leave for the island that the emotional ties that they would have formed with their natural parents would not be destroyed at an age that they would easily remember. However, to alleviate this decision, the Jaguars also decreed that if both the child and his or her parents wished it, that they could once again meet on the child's sixteenth birthday, as it had quickly been found that if a child's gift did not emerge before then it never would.

The world has become better since then, of course, what with how we now have enough natural energy to power our homes without the need for nuclear plants or anything like that. Everyone plays games online, and that's how they also monitor whether or not you have powers growing inside you-something to do with how the helmet is set up, I hear. Supposedly it measures your pupils, and the instant it finds them elongating it sets off an alarm on the island. Oh yeah, I almost forgot-they have a school up there for the newbies to attend, and as you can imagine with six hundred girls and six hundred boys going through it at various ages, it can make for some pretty funky events. Still, the most we ever hear of it down here is the occasional explosion from some Lion or Iriomote Wildcat dueling it out. Anyways, the alarm goes off, and one of the Guardians-which is what we landies call them-comes with their partner to take you off to school.

So this is the Cat-Eye School OOC! I shall be editing this with more information over the next few days, setting it up properly with an FAQ of the questions I've already received and more information on the Island where the rp takes place, too. For now, I ask that character sheets and new questions are posted here rather than the interest thread, and I shall get them answered as soon as I can!

Age: 18

Cat's name: Sir Nesmond (he hates his name)

Element: Light

Description: Long blonde hair that she never lets people cut. if someone tries, they don't leave without a severe beating. Purple eyes, a yellow jacket and a white T-shirt underneath. In contrast, a black skirt, and black sneakers.

Bio: A girl who got everything she ever wanted through servants and her butler, the young heiress only wanted one thing, a family. she was found to be quite the healer when she was little, but then her eyes changed, and she was taken to the "Cat-eye School" island. She was immediately demanding things from others, as she never had social connections before. This earned her near no friends despite her abilities being great and her studies was what she focused on. She is constantly wonders why no one likes her, and is moping in her dorm room at the start of the RP(if this needs to be changed let me know).

Island Description | +
The Island. A place synonymous with the Guardians, it was created many centuries before by the first Jaguars, and has been the permanent home of the Guardians ever since. A place of beauty and wonders, of things that would normally not be seen together. It floats high above the ground, and the most that the people on the ground see of it is its underneath as it is carried by by the world's air currents.

When approaching the Island, the first thing that is noticed is always its size-the Island is deceptively small when seen from below, as a large amount of its bulk is kept hidden by those below to keep them from being nervous about its presence above their homes. Second, and most impressive, is the six mountains that radiate out from close to the Island's centre, their size increasing the further out they go.

These mountains have snow covered peaks, and dense forests growing on their sides, which are tended to by the Earth Guardians, who also mine the ores used by the Fire Guardians in their forges. Only those Guardians accompanied by a member of the Air group approach the Earth Guardians when they are within their forest and mines, as they are known to be protective and grouchy, a combination that is alleviated only by the fun-loving Air Guardians, who have a talent for redirecting that infamous grumpiness to a grudging smile-usually by playing a prank of some kind on an unsuspecting Earth Guardian nearby.

There is a reason as to why the mountains don't radiate out from the centre of the Island-that position is held by a truly massive area of land known as the Jaguar Garden, which is intrinsically connected to the presence of the Jaguars on the Island. When there is no Jaguar present, the Garden can only be described as dead, as the plants, waterfalls, even the very soil and stones themselves seem to lose a certain sparkle that is easily seen when there is a Jaguar on the Island.

In the centre of the Garden, and therefore at the very centre of the Island itself, is a fountain depicting the seven cats in their three different forms-with the Battle cats at the base, it goes up, each tier formed by the next size down, until the third tier, where the seven house cats form a ring around a depiction of the Great Mother Goddess Herself, Her hands folded over each other as she gazes out across the Island that Her children created with the powers She had given them.

Moving out from the Garden again, the next thing that would be seen would be the lakes of the Water Guardians, which extend out into the air from the main land with small bodies of land in the centres, where the Water Guardians can often be found when they are not swimming in the waters of the lakes, which are connected to each other by a serious of waterfalls, which are engineered so that the lakes form a circle that, at the end of the circle, flows back up and into the very first of the lakes.

The next section of the Island is the Fire Guardians' forges, filled with heat and smoke which is carefully dispersed by the Air Guardians on a regular basis. This area is filled with noise, with the ring of hammers on steel and the sizzle of water being turned to steam by that same metal when it's submerged. It is here that the weapons of the Guardians are made, as well as anything else that is needed around the Island, including a few areas where a few select Fire Guardians work with glass instead of metal.

The Air Guardians' section of the Island appears at first glance to be a vast area of grassland, but on closer inspection is filled with hundreds of different ground loving grasses and plants, creating an area perfect for the Air Guardians to help others practice their flying skills and play their pranks on young couples that go there for a picnic, though if they think things are serious between the two they are generally left in peace (unless things get too serious or awkward between the two-then they intervene, usually by dropping a load of flower petals on them).

The sixth area of the Island belongs to the Dark Guardians, and is also where all the Guardians go in order to practice their fighting skills. Here, you can see the Fire Guardians swing their glaives (staffs with steel spikes on one end and an eighteen inch long blade on the other) as if they were little more than twigs, Water Guardians move in intricate drills against each other, kicks and punches flying through the air, and Earth Guardians whirl around obstacle courses with their swords, faces grimly set as they cleave imaginary foes in half with a single downward stroke.

Here, too, you can find archery ranges five hundred yards in length, with rows of Air Guardians firing arrow after arrow into their targets, occasionally using their abilities to make the arrow curve in the direction they want it to go in. Light Guardians are here, too, teaching their students to fight or practising their own skills with the staff against each other in blinding displays of speed and agility.

However, there is one Guardian that won't be found practising in the light of day-the Dark Guardians prefer to practice at night, and when they do, observers have seen them using clawed brass knuckles that flash in the moonlight as they carve up training dummies with ease. Only a fool would think the Dark Guardians weak, simply because they don't train where others can easily see them-they simply prefer the secrecy of the night, just as their cats, the Black Panthers, do.

The final section of the Island is where the Cat-Eye School itself can be found, along with the Cattery where the Island's distinctive cats are bred, and it is run almost entirely by the Light Guardians, who, as the calmest of all the Guardians, are easily the most suited to be teachers. Here, classes are often held outside when the weather is good, with students of all ages joining in if they wished to revisit a subject that they don't know much about.

The Cattery is considered offlimits for the first-year students, but once they have proven themselves capable of keeping at least a basic control over their powers, they are allowed inside, where they are chosen by the cat that will then be their life-time companion.

FAQ

So what are the different elements?

They are Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light and Dark. Six in all, though there is one other category that won't be available.

Which category is that, and why is it unavailable?

The seventh category is called by its companion cat, the Jaguar. It's unavailable because it's the only category that can control all six elements at once-everyone else can control only one element, and this isn't changeable. Jaguars, when they do appear, will be distant to the characters played in the rp and are NPCs only. This is to keep things fair to everyone taking part.

Ok... So what's this about a companion cat?

This was mentioned in the interest check briefly, but each character will also have a companion cat, depending on their element. This cat can talk and shape change, taking one of three different forms-the house cat, the big cat (in the case of all the cats but the Iriomote Wildcat, that is) and the battle cat. For this cat, think of your regular cat-i.e. a tiger-and make it as large as a Shire horse. That is your battle cat.

But a Shire horse is massive!

Well, that's kind of the point, in this case-your character will, at some point, be riding their cat into battle to protect the planet from external forces.

Well, that makes sense... What are the different kinds of cat, though?

It's a little more complicated than that, and for this, I shall actually try to use the list feature, for once. It goes by element, emotion, cat, weapon.

  • Water, Sorrow, Tiger, Martial Arts.
  • Fire, Happiness, Lion/Lioness, Glaive (a staff the same height as the user with a steel spike on one end and an eighteen inch long blade the other).
  • Earth, Anger, Iriomote Wildcat, Sword (this can be a rapier, a double edged broadsword, a greatsword, anything that's a sword, essentially).
  • Air, Playful/Cheeky, Snow Leopard, Bow and Arrow (this will generally be a longbow, made from yew wood grown by the Earth Guardians. The arrow heads do differ, depending on what you're shooting at, so please keep in mind that a regular arrow can't pierce plate armour and will just bounce right off!).
  • Dark, Deceptive, Black Panther, Clawed Brass Knuckles (think Woverine from the Xmen).
  • Light, Serene, Cheetah, Staff (also made from yew wood, this staff is specially grown so that it's stronger than that of the Air Guardians' bows. This is to keep it from snapping in the middle of a fight, or from being cut in half by an enemy).

Wow, that is a lot of info! Hey, you didn't say anything about the house cats there. Why not?

Simple-there was already a lot going into the list! Here's the house cats and their larger counterparts, complete with links to pictures of the cats for you:

Right, so that's all the cats, then. Is there any particular features that the characters should have?

Actual facial features and physical descriptions are, of course, up to the player-however, I do ask that Earth Guardians have brown hair, Air have light blue hair, Fire have red hair, Water have dark blue hair, Dark have purple hair, and Light have yellow. Shades of said hair is up to you, though.

You mentioned something about battles?

I did, yes. Now, the characters in this rp aren't complete newbies to the Island-they have been here around a year or so, long enough to have earned the right to enter the Cattery and be chosen by their cat. This means that they have at least a basic control of their powers, preferably more, and have learned about the enemy that they face.

This enemy is the Goddess's evil younger twin, the Star Father, and unknown to the world at large, the Guardians have been fighting him since their formation centuries before, because of two reasons: one, he has held the Goddess captive for time immemorial (She was only able to create the Guardians because his grip on Her weakened for a moment) and two, he keeps attacking the planet in an attempt to destroy it. The Guardians 'ride out' from the planet into space to face his horde of Hounds in space where they won't be seen and cause a mass panic.

Wow, wasn't expecting that twist. So does that mean space suits and the like?

No, no space suits-the students of the school are placed into groups of twelve (six boys, and six girls, one of each from each element) and have to work together to keep each other safe. That means air is provided by the Air Guardians, and warmth by the Fire Guardians. Once again, though, it gets more complicated than this.

Again?!

Yes, again. Now, you've likely noticed that each type of element has its opposite-this works among the Guardians, too. So the Light Guardian girl will work more with the Dark Guardian girl than she will any of the others.

Well, that makes sense...

It does indeed. Also, the Light, Fire and Air Guardians can heal the other members of their group, but while they are doing this, they will need protection-which is where the Dark, Water and Earth Guardians come in. For example, if the Air Guardian needs healing, she can't do it herself, so the Light Guardian will heal her while the Dark and Earth Guardians protect them both.

Interesting. What if they combine their powers? And how extensive are those powers, too?

A classic example of combined powers would be earth, fire and water. Earth raises the ground, fire heats it so it becomes molten lava, and water cools it so it hardens into proper rock-voilà, there's a new platform of rock that can be used for taking off from the Island. You can use your powers whichever way you wish, but you cannot become the element itself. That's a no-no. Using it is possible, becoming it isn't.

Well, there goes that idea. Oh, yeah-you mention in the prologue you put up that they take on some cat like features. Are they actual neko people or furries?

Neither. The only thing that turns cat like is the pupils of the eyes-instead of the circles a regular person has, they would gain the slit-like pupils of a cat. Other than that, there are no cat features, though any physical imperfections that the person may have (such as being overweight, having bad eyesight or having a limp) will dissipate as they go through the transformation and gain control of their powers.

Ok, fair enough. What about the story? You said that this rp was based on it, right?

I did, yes. In fact, the story and rp will run alongside each other, and new chapters will be posted here in the OOC thread when they're ready. Events seen by the entire school-such as a Masquerade Ball I have in mind where the main character will be attending as her Jaguar self-will be available for the rpers, too. With players' permission, their characters may even appear in the story itself, and places that are particularly described in the rp will also be used in the story.

So... the story and the rp will be augmenting and bettering each other?

Exactly. =^.^=

And we can have more than one character if we wanted?

You can indeed-this is Alpha, after all, and having two human characters and their cats would certainly help to fill out the quota needed. Don't forget that these are talking cats with personalities and interactions all their own-for example, a Norwegian Forest could jump onto a Savannah cat behind the owners' backs, and the two could have a wrestling match while the owners are talking about something. They could finish talking, turn to find their cats and ask what they think, and find them completely the other way around, with the Savannah pinning the Forest.

All right. What about their history? Something about the children being fostered?

Yes. Children stay with their biological parents until their fifth birthday, and then go into fostering. Foster parents are carefully vetted, so any child abuse in their histories happens before the fifth birthday only. Eye change-and therefore power emergence-doesn't happen until the child hits their teens, and there isn't a guaranteed chance this will happen. It will also only happen before the child's sixteenth birthday, so the maximum age of a new Guardian will be fifteen years eleven months and thirty days and no older.

Why are the children fostered, exactly?

This is to protect the children, really-if they were still living with their biological parents, then there would be arguments between the parent and the Guardian about the Guardian taking the child to the Island for teaching. Also, it gives children from poorer families a better start in life, as all the foster parents involved are carefully checked before being given a child to care for.

How is the transformation discovered?

By a video game helmet that covers the entire head of the child, which then analyses the child's pupils while they play. This is done on a daily basis for all children from the age of eleven, for an hour after school during the week and at home by the foster parent. This is the only time the child is allowed to play video games, and if the change does begin in them, then it sets off an alarm on the Island with the child's details. Remember that there is only six hundred Guardians at once, not including the Jaguars, so they wouldn't be inundated with large numbers of new students!

So my character could be seventeen and have only just got their cat?

Yes, they can, because it can be a few days after their first completed year at the school that they receive said cat. Remember the age limit?

Fifteen years, eleven months and thirty days. So is that it for the information?

As far as I know right now it is, yes. If anything new comes to my attention I will add it in here for you.

Great! What about a character form?

I will put one up for you another time, but it will be simple enough-name, nickname, age, gender, personality, element, type of sword if you're an Earth Guardian, description of both you and your cat, as well as your cat's personality, and your character's history.

What about your characters? Who will you play?

Ah, now this is a tricky one... I don't want it to seem unfair on anyone, and I know some people will likely think it is, but my characters won't be anyone from the group itself. I shall play the NPCs (the teachers, for example, and when needed, the Jaguars-which will hopefully be only in extreme situations) so that there is at least some guidance to the rp itself-not to mention, people will need to know what their characters are meant to be doing when in battle.

All right... What about a character list and application form? Oh, and the posting list, too!

Well, posting list will be set once everyone has made their first posts, and if someone has a new character to add in, then just post when you feel it's appropriate to-i.e. right after an NPC post, or when everyone else has, or when arrangements have been specifically made here in the OOC. As for the player list, it is currently as follows:

Light Girl and Cat: Sarah Canary Pritchard the Second and Sir Nesmond (JDizzle)
Light Boy and Cat: Arthur Williamson and Bandit (thetruegarsot)
Dark Girl and Cat: Mary Elizabeth Strauss and Arnott (Cotton)
Dark Boy and Cat: Jace Radford and Xavier (Luna)
Fire Girl and Cat: Shirah and Felicia (Jirou Kirou)
Fire Boy and Cat:
Water Girl and Cat:
Water Boy and Cat: Francis/Scar/Wattson and Lizbeth
Air Girl and Cat:
Air Boy and Cat:
Earth Girl and Cat: Kara Alester (Luna)
Earth Boy and Cat: Edaine (eh-dane) Foster and Ella (Cotton)

Here's the NPC list so far, which will be updated as needed when new chapters are added (speaking of which, here is the link to the story itself). To those curious, the Disciples are the leaders of their factions and will often act as teachers to the newer Guardians (in other words, your charries will know them and they'll know your charries).

Jaguar girl and cat: Anna Firerose and Annete (Annete is a regular cat, though she will be able to speak at some point, too, and Anna will be getting another cat as well-this will be her 'official' companion, though she will spend time with Annete).
Jaguar boy and cat:

Female Disciple of Light and cat: Sienna Ray and Sandy (Sienna is also the Headmistress of the school)
Male Disciple of Light and Cat:
Female Disciple of Dark and Cat:
Male Disciple of Dark and Cat:
Female Disciple of Fire and Cat:
Male Disciple of Fire and Cat:
Female Disciple of Water and Cat:
Male Disciple of Water and Cat:
Female Disciple of Air and Cat: Aliana Breeze and Castrina
Male Disciple of Air and Cat:
Female Disciple of Earth and Cat: Marina Earthwar and Jadine
Male Disciple of Earth and Cat:

Other NPCs also include:

Matthias Firerose, Anna's father and second in command to the Disciples of Fire
Asteria Firerose, Matthias's wife and Anna's mother, the only 'Landy' (i.e. powerless person, non-Guardian) on the Island.

And of course, I promised you a form as well, so here it is:

Code:
[b]Name of Character:[/b]
[b]Name of Character's Cat:[/b]
[b]Character's Element:[/b]
[b]Character's Age:[/b]
[b]Character's Physical Description:[/b]
[b]Character's Personality:[/b]
[b]Cat's Personality:[/b]
[b]Character's History:[/b]
This part I would like as detailed as possible-what was your charrie like before they were sent for fostering? How did they react to being taken from their birth family? Did they get on with their foster parents? Where were they when they found out that they are Guardians? Detail is always a good thing, so don't hold back!

Name(s): Francis, Scar, Wattson (yes. two t's)

Ailment: Multiple Personality Disorder

Age: 17

Cat's name: Lizbeth (yep, female cat)

Element: Water

Description as Francis:(Normal state) Dark blue hair that would be a little long if it were not styled with gel, with dark blue eyes, almost always found with a book in hand and sits up straight like a model student. a clean white short sleeve button up shirt with a blue vest, he seems to own quite a lot of these considering his "condition". Black pants, and light blue steel toe combat ready shoes. is very shy and as such tries to stay out of situations that might cause him harm due to his "condition".

Description as Scar:(When angered enough or the trigger of seeing the act of bullying) Dark blue hair that is now shading his eyes, with glassy ice blue eyes showcasing dark blue specs reminiscent of falling snow, he wears a cruel smirk and deadly accuracy with his feet, which are clad in the same steel toe light blue combat shoes. to signify that scar is "Out to play" as Scar himself calls it, there is a scar that spans his left arm from shoulder to elbow in a straight line that will slowly heal over time. when the scar disappears so does the Violence prone man calling himself Scar. He slumps a bit in this state as well, making his seem weaker and shorter to fool the enemy, but he is actually stronger like this not because he is physically stronger, but because Francis holds back out of fear of going too far while Scar simply dishes out what he calls "My own flavor of Justice". In this state, it is unlikely that you can win a fight against him without sustaining major damage. Also, he doesn't care who gets hurt unless it is his cat.

Description as Wattson:(Triggered when his life is threatened or in times of dire need to save someone) His hair remains gelled, and he shifts his shoulders to the point that his shirt is loosely hanging around his chest. Girls argue that Wattson is worse than Scar, because Wattson believes himself to be God's gift to women. arguably, teachers are amazed at Wattson's intellect as he seems to triple in brain activity compared to Scar, and Double compared to Francis. To put things in perspective: He has been seen trying to ask almost every female Cat-eye student out, but has also lasted in a battle of wits with the world's foremost chess champion and beaten him 4 times in a row, which would have been five if he had not asked the Chess announcer out on a date. this is probably the sole reason he was not kicked out of the academy for harassment charges. that and the fact that Francis always apologizes for him when reverting unless he is not told of Wattson's actions.

Bio: born into a poor family, Francis was constantly bullied until his eyes changed, however, at age 9 as an older boy bullied him on that fateful day, a large scar showed up inexplicably and no one knows exactly what happened, but the bully was found bleeding from the hip some time later, unconscious. This new personality dubbed himself Scar, but quickly discovered that once his namesake healed, he was trapped in Francis' head with no escape... until he saw another bully.

In a similar manner, at age 14, Francis saw a girl about to be hit by an out of control truck, and another personality was born. Wattson. This new personality quickly saved the girl in a style all his own by forcing her to the pavement as it barreled over both of them. when the truck left, she found that Wattson had his shirt off of his shoulders and she started screaming.

He left people alone after he realized what these two would do if allowed to roam free, however, he did meet and beat the world's foremost chess champion in less than a minute four times in a row using Wattson, and would have done so again if he hadn't asked the announcer lady on a date.

Francis' foster parents were shocked on both occasions when they heard of these personalities, but saw that he was being honest about his lack of control, since his eyes would twitch if he lied. and so they tried therapy. then they tried hypnosis. and neither worked. maybe if they had tried when he was nine, the results would have been different, but they learned to live with it by treating Scar and Wattson as if those were just another member of the family... albeit very Violent or Smart/lovestruck versions of him. it helped that Francis apologized when he hit on someone as Wattson or hurt someone as Scar.

As far as what he spends his time doing on the island, Francis studies as hard as he can to make up for his disorder, while Scar tends to be in the training area pummeling people until his scar disappears and he reverts. Wattson is a whole other story. He tries to get any and every girl that can't outsmart him to go on a date, which means a vast majority of the girls either know him as a player, or a pervert.

Name: Arthur Williamson

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Personality: Very Joyful and carefree. Has a soft heart for felines and really all animals. Shy and easily intimidated at first when being around others but can open up quite a lot once he gets to know them. Is very protective of his friends and even more so of his cat, Bandit. He has an incredible love for the outdoors as well.

Element: Light

Physical description: Standing at 5'10, he is of average height and weight among his peers, weighing at a rough 175 lbs. He is not very muscular, though does keep himself in well enough shape to afford him a good amount of athletiscm. His hair is somewhat short, very rarely more than 2 or 3 inches in length, though he has been known to let it grow out from time to time as well as let it dread naturally. His face sports a full beard and mustache despite his young age that he does little to maintain, so it is quite messy. His eyes are a light brown that are quite penatrating now that he has gained the cat-eyes.

History: Arthur had grown up a rather typical youth; socialized well with others, was very active among his peers, enjoyed playing games with those that would join him. What seperated him from others, though, was the amount of respect and admiration he had towards the well-being of the planet and, in turn, the guardians that had been put in charge of protecting the planet. Ever since he learned of the guardians he had gained quite the fascination of them, their powers, their feline companions, and everything that involved them.

When the day came that he found out he was to be a guardian, there were no words that could express the amount of joy that he felt, for he had spent the majority of his young life doing whatever he could to keep the planet protected, including taking up various forms of martial arts to combat those who would wish to do harm to the planet, though he knew it was vastly inferior to the type of training the guardians underwent.

Cat's name and gender: Bandit, Male

Cat's personality: Very independent and hard to get close to. Other than Arthur, there are not many, human or other animal alike, that Bandit gets along with. He earned the name Bandit partially due to him almost always remaining hidden when Arthur is not around and even when he is the cat will still enjoy isolation and seclusion of places like under beds, deep in closets, or anything of the sort. He is also known for mischeviously stealing food from those who do not take extra precaution in caring for their meals, another reason for the name Bandit.

Cat's physical description: As a savannah cat, Bandit is quite large among the ranks of domestic cats, but even among savannahs he is rather big and incredibly healthy weighing in at a good 35 lbs. His coat is very well maintained and is typically colored of savannahs, orange-redish brown with dark spots scattered all over. He also sports a dark, raccoon-like "mask" over his eyes, which is the main reason for naming him Bandit.

Name: Jace Radford
Nickname: None at the moment
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Element: Dark
Description:
Image
Only difference is his hair is a very dark shade of purple that makes his hair look black from a distance. Under the light you can see the purple. His eyes are blue but they change shades in the light and with his moods.
Personality: Observant, he chooses his words carefully and can be manipulative when he wants to be. It’s very easy for Jace to convince others to come around to his way of thinking. While he generally doesn’t speak much, Jace is generally defiant and resistant towards any kind of authority.
Tattoos:

Cat: Xavier, seen almost always by Jace’s side. Occasionally Jace will send the cat on intelligence missions when he’s curious about someone so the little creature is excellent at sneaking around. Where Jace is usually quiet his feline companion very seldom keeps his mouth shut, most often his opinions echo what Jace is thinking.
History: Jace was born into middle class family, though he barely remembers it, he had an older brother who was sent away a year before Jace was. When he was sent to his foster family they were nothing but welcoming to the mistrustful little boy. Twice Jace tried to escape and return home, but after his second attempt he realized it was pointless. Jace had no problem with his foster parents, in fact he spent much of his time talking to them as he got older, learning what he could about the world and its history. He had few friends growing up, but the ones he did meet he was a loyal friend to.

Name: Kara Alester
Nickname: None at the moment
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Element: Earth
Swords:
Image

Description: (See attachment) Bright green eyes
Personality: Externally she appears calm and collected, but internally she’s feisty. Her most common expression is to roll her eyes at stupid things that people say in her presence. She spends most of her time playing video games or reading, losing herself in a fantasy world. Kara's room is scattered with books full of fantasy and magic.
Cat: Seria is usually seen lazing under a tree or sunning herself. The feline doesn't like to be touched by anyone other than Kara and has a tendency to bite those who attempt to test her. Very protective of Kara, doesn't like other people touching her either.
History: Kara barely remembers her birth family, she can recall being happy and that her mother like to feed stray cats. Much beyond that is a struggle for her to bring forward, but occasionally she heard her mothers or fathers voice in her dreams. Kara lived a very normal and happy life with her foster family. Kara had no complaints and wanted for very little, her foster family was well off and made sure that she had only the best from a young age. Despite all this Kara doesn't feel entitled to anything, the only time she gets angry is when something goes against her moral code. Growing up she did get into trouble on occasion for starting fights with schoolyard bullies, until her eyes changed on her 14th birthday.

this art piece is not my own work, all credit goes to the artist.

"This isn't who I want to be, but this is who I am. How cruel is that?"

Name of Character: Edain (eh-dane) Foster
Name of Character's Cat: Ella
Character's Element: Earth
Character's Weapon: Falchion
Image

Character's Age: 19 as of February 6th
Character's Physical Description: A shaggy black-brown mop of hair dominates a 5'9" scraggly matchstick. Large brown eyes, a gently sloping bunny nose, and light band of freckles gives him a doe-y face, somewhat girly in aspects. He occasionally wears black, plastic rimmed glasses, which are purely aesthetic, as his nearsightedness has been healed.
His preferred style of clothing is simple tee-shirts and cargo pants, accompanied by a blue glass bauble, strung through with a silver wire, hanging on a thin string around his neck. A good luck charm from his adoptive mother, he rarely takes it off unless he fears breaking it.
Character's Personality: Edain has anger management issues. Through no fault of his own, he is prone to violent fits of frustration, which he usually directs at the closet inanimate object, not wanting to hurt people.
Most of the time he is collected, and somewhat disoriented, his anger in the passive state of sarcasm and tongue-and-cheek. He seems mature for his age, people saying that he has the eyes of an old, weary man. While Edain loves Ella, he never wanted to be a Guardian and still doesn't. Inside, he's very unsure about every choice he makes, hiding it behind a frazzled, silly demeanor as often as he can.
Edain believes in the power of luck.
Cat's Personality: Ella is quite the opposite of fiery, unsure Edain. She is the picture of calm, and will freely approach who she wishes. She is confident in her decisions and will often reprimand Edain for his idiocy. She is a bit of a glutton and has over-indulgence issues, which she sums up to a 'search for substance and a passion for life.'
Character's History: Edain remembers little of his real parents, having only a scrapful of memories before the age of seven. Partially because of this, he has always wanted to find his biological parents, just to meet them, even once.
He had difficulty bonding with his foster parents, Elaine and Dan, being a bland child, almost like an empty vessel, of sorts. They worried there might be something wrong with him; he never complained, ate only during meals, and played exclusively when requested to by them. It was as if he was late in developing a personality.
Their worry was misplaced, however. Soon Edain found a passion in running. Not like a normal child does, running aimlessly for the sake of motion, but it was as if the boy had found true love. He would challenge people to races with a big grin on his face, and actively involve himself in any sport that meant he could rip up and down the field. Elaine worried that this was a strange obsession, just as unhealthy as not liking anything at all, but the child was left.
Edain became wheelchair-bound at the age of eight, having fallen down a flight of stairs, 'permanently' damaging his spine. He found it extremely difficult to be bound sitting down, and became prone to fits of violence, directed towards his foster parents. He became sarcastic and distant, refusing to participate in school. The only hope, his foster parents thought, was for him to have the traits of a Guardian as he aged. Edain himself found this unfair, creating a resentment between him and the idea of bonding to the cats. They wouldn't heal him, a cripple, even though they easily could, but they would if he proved useful to them. He didn't want to be a pawn, and he certainly didn't appreciate the idea of being a fighter as a profession. He always wanted to be a P.E. teacher.
Through counselling and love from his parents, he coped, learning to focus his anger into things other than people. He lost his short-lived joy for life, once again became a brooding child, this time with a little streak of defiance inside him.
At age eleven he became besotted with a girl, a kind of crush, so to speak. He followed her like a lost puppy, smiling brightly whenever she spoke. It was like a sort of rebound, that he was destined to be an unpleasant person unless he had something to fixate upon.
They remained friends until it was discovered, on his fourteenth birthday, that he had the Guardian's gift. His friend became jealous, wanting to have the gift herself, but it wasn't likely she would bear the trait. Edwin moved to the training compound, and so he lost the second thing he had ever loved.
At the school, Edain could walk again, though running didn't contain the joy it once did. He trudged slowly, excused by the disuse of his lower limbs at first, later accumulated by laziness or perhaps little will to live.
Edain became proficient at the use of the falchion, being extremely quick on his feet in life-or-death situations, arms trained through pushing his wheelchair to pull up the slack left from his previously immobile legs.
In the next year, he found a new passion; Ellie, his wildcat companion. Now his zest is returned, but this time it seems to be much happier and hopeful.

"If I'm going to do something, I gotta do it right, y'know?"

Name of Character: Mary Elizabeth Strauss
Name of Character's Cat: Arnott
Character's Element: Dark
Character's Age: 15 as of June 1st.
Character's Physical Description: At 5'4", Mary is on the short side, though she is likely not finished growing. She has long, somewhat messy, wavy hair, a shade of light purple and pink, with darker streaks throughout, that hangs to her mid-back. Her bangs are cut to the side, tresses framing her already round face. Her cheeks are always a shade of pink, as if she were blushing. Her eyes are a sea green.
Mary wears the same gray sweater every day, with heart patches on the bottom of the sleeve, and thumb-holes so her hands can fit in like a fingerless glove.
Her voice is soft, though not breathy, most often in the mid-tones, with an almost East African-esque accent to it.
Character's Personality: Mary is quiet, and quite serious, which is required of the life of a Guardian. She is the kind of person to say, "I'm not crying," while tears are still rolling down her cheeks. She has a need to please other people and hates to do something wrong, acquiring an admirable, albiet quiet sailor's mouth when things aren't going right. Due to the superstitions towards the people of her element, she finds herself not trusted often, and fights to attain recognition from her peers. She has difficulty associating with her element, having been afraid of the dark when she was younger. She has, through training, been able to accept it, but she detests the stigma of fear and death attached to it.
Mary becomes envious rather easily, not feeling much self-worth. She dislikes her name, calling it 'an old-fashioned name better suited to a grandmother.'
Cat's Personality: Arnott is a bit of a haughty type, making sharp comments and jabs that often bring Mary close to tears. He often reconsiders his choice of companion, but doesn't dismiss the bond he and the girl shares. He may not show it, but he would be willing to do anything for Mary if it meant she would succeed, partially the reason behind his 'tough love' demeanor. He likes to pull strings behind the scenes to ensure that him and his 'pet', as he calls her, stay on top, though he keeps this information hidden from Mary.
Character's History: Mary was brought up the first five years of her life by a transvestite. She doesn't remember him very well, only that she called him 'mom' in a very confused manner.
She bonded with her foster family quite well, particularly the mother. She was happy with what she had, though she had troubles at school woth bullying. That started her little streak of independence, her will to handle things on her own. No one needed to know about her troubles.
Mary was labelled as having the gift on her first test. She separated from her foster family tearfully, not wanting to leave, especially because of the element she had. She had aspired to be a Guardian in her mind, thinking of the grandeur and admiration they acheived, but she felt she was more attuned to light than dark. Possibly because of this, her training took an additional year, which frustrated her for her weakness.
Her most impress feat of element use was when she first met Arnott. The panther, perhaps as a test, attacked her, and she instinctively fought back, using her powers to completely incapacitate him without lifting a finger. She even surprised herself, and isn't sure how it came about.

--

I hope everything is acceptable? I don't want anything to contradict the rules of the story c: Looking forward to writing with you guys.
I have the feeling Edain will be cleaning Battle Cat stalls over the course of next week, so my introduction will crop up as one of the last.

Hey Cat should the characters be waiting outside of the office for everyone to arrive? Or are they being admitted in as they come?
