Better Jack.
Here's my main chars for this, but I may add some NPC's later. Name: Darius "Dare" J. Benson Age: 23 Age Abducted: 15 Appearance: With a lean, preditorial, exceptionally defined kind of muscle build, Dare would be intimidating if it weren't for the rest of his look. He has a kind, soft face that has an easy smile playing at the edge of his lips. He has long, cali-beach-boy blond hair that hides most of his face if he doesn't take the time to brush it away every few moments. He is usually wearing some sort of baggy shorts (or cargo pants if it's cold) and a plain white tank top, no shoes. Personality: He is normally just as laid back as he appears. He finds humor in most everything, and tries his hardest to appease who he can and ignore those he can't. However, when he uses his magic, his personality completely changes. (I'll explain later)
Regardless of his temperament, he loves a good physical thrill. He surfs, snowboards, wakeboards, and anything else involving a plank and an adrenaline high.
History: Dare's rather large family ran their own private cruse business, taking well off families on adventures all over the world in their cruse ship that doubled as the Benson family home. In this way, Dare knew the world's costs the way most kids know their own neighborhood. He was close to his family until the day he fell through the cracks in reality.
He was surfing in Hawaii, and just as the wave crashed around him, he was taken. With an explosion of spray and salt he entered The Bestial Lands.
Dare rarely talks about the details of his journey in that place, but there are a few well known details amongst the other students at Sylus Academy. First, that the world was almost completely devoid of technology, instead focusing on physical strength and brutality in their daily lives. The government was tribal in nature, where only the greatest warriors were even considered citizens. It's also a general consensus that Dare became some sort of tribe leader, and probably had to kill a large number of men with his bare hands. Dare himself hasn't said anything for or against the rumors.
When he finally returned, Dare found that the world he had thought was perfect and peaceful was in fact ruined. His mother had thought him dead, and the grief lead her to insanity, while his father thought he was still out there and had spent the whole five years trying to find him. This had bankrupted the family. Their once beautifully lax and prosperous life style was no more, and Dare's father was reduced to fixing boats off the cost of San Diego.
Still haunted by the memories of how his life had been, Dare jumped at the chance of a new start when he received his letter.
That was three years ago. This year, he has (at his therapist's insistence) volunteered to be the representative, guide, and mentor for the new students. It's his job to both be a resource and disciplinary head for them, and as much as he dislikes the idea, he's committed himself to it and he'll do it to his best ability.
Magic System: Unlike more complicated magic system, The Bestial Land magic is either on or off, enhancing his strength, agility, durability and wrath. The balance and extra qualities that the user receives are determined by a familiar that embodies those traits. Dare was one of the one in a million that received a dragon as his familiar, meaning when he turns on his magic, he grows rusty red scales and claws as hard as steel, with gold spikes replacing his hair. He can reach speeds approaching mach 1 and has ben known to easily rend cars in half with his hands. This has the unfortunate side effect of inverting his personality, making him a being of draconic wrath personified, and he often times goes over board and does something he regrets when powered up. This makes him reluctant to do so, and he often tries to use his pure fighting skills obtained in the bestial lands (and a few other fighting styles he's learned since) to solve physical confrontations.
The dragon in question hatched only in time to become Dare's familiar, and is still rather small. He's only about the size of your average Greyhound (the dog), but will eventually reach the same size as your average Greyhound (the bus line). He's covered in red scales, has only just started to fly, and often times accidentally hiccups fire. Dare never is far from his draconic Familiar, whom he is empathetically attached to via their magic link. The dragon's name is officially Sunbringer of the Charred Earth, but other acceptable names are Char, Charry, or Mr. Candle-Britches (if you're looking for scorched eyebrows, as Char can understand human speech).

Name: Tyler Painson Age: 18 Age of Abduction: 12
Appearance: Tyler is everyone's mental image of an Eastern US aristocrat's kid. He's average hight, slight, under built in the muscle department, with black hair that's shaved on all sides and long enough on top to shade his face and nearly touch his frameless, oval glasses. He's usually wearing something semi-formal, like a button up shirt un-buttoned and a suit vest with slacks. He's never without his laptop bag with (shocker) his laptop, and he's always wearing his strange writswatch that seems to be made of pure light barely kept together by a silver casing.
Personality: As sarcastic and impatient as he is brilliant, he has never been known as someone easy to work with. He is often doing things, school projects, personal work, and eventually highly advanced magic research, on his own instead of with others simply because he doesn't have the patience to deal with anyone who doesn't move as quickly as he does mentally. He does, however, loosen up every once and a while for people he ends up liking for whatever reason.
History: Tyson has always been considered a child prodigy at both theoretical physics and computer programing, receiving a doctorate in the first and a masters degree in the other by the time he turned 12. In fact, it was at his own party celebrating his receiving his first research grant in theoretical processing systems, that in a flash of brilliant cobalt light he was whisked off to his own personal heaven and hell. It was called the city of Neo-Angoles.
The world was an alternate future where Hero Childern never existed, and all of Tyson's theories on magic, physics and computer processing had become the basis of all technology, but had been taken to unfortunate extremes, far beyond what Tyson could understand. In the process of trying to understand what had been done to his ideas, he discovered that the resulting society was actually being controlled by computer algorithms that decided who did what job and which person should die and who should live. He quickly found and joined the severely underpowered resistance and, using his mentally superior ability to process data quickly and the magic technology of this future to help topple the government. He didn't have much time to celebrate however, as before he could finally get around to figuring out how his theories had been implemented, he was whisked away again back to his home.
If he thought he was in high demand for his theories before, it was nothing compared to now. The fact that he had visited a world where his research WORKED made him invaluable, and yet he couldn't use them. He was haunted by the world he might create, even if it would be nearly a hundred twenty years into the future. Soon, world governments vying for his research grew impatient, and started to threaten Tyler and his family. In desperation, Tyler accepted the offer to Sylus Academy as a student for a year as a trial run, and then as a teacher and maybe eventually as a researcher. Tyler hopes to find a way out of following his original line of research before then, but in the mean time he is ready to jump ship at any time.
Magic System: The magic of Neo-Angoles is the precise manipulation of atomic energy directed by augmented computer processing attached to the human cerebral cortex. The practical upshot of this is that the mage mentally creates code that then directs atomic processes to create any desired effect imaginable. While most mages of Neo-Angoles had to prepare set spells before hand and open them like a computer file, Tyson has the ability to code on the fly, making him far more versatile. This, plus his intimate knowledge of physics, makes him a formidably flexible and powerful mage.

So here's the two. I'll be mostly playing them, and I think I have a story idea. I was thinking something along the line of political intrigue and making around using Hero Children for nefarious purposes. But if you guys wanted to just do a sandbox or something, that could work better.
