What was once a site dedicated to studying the anomaly of humans with abnormal or supernatural abilities, Arcadia Research Facility was reclaimed by a trio of once-great heroes and villains. Many come here seeking refuge, shelter, understanding, friendship, and hope. Built into the base of a mountain, Arcadia is secluded and easily defensible, it generates it’s own energy through the dam built into the rear, which hasn't worked for a while, but provides basic power and enough water. Self-sufficient and home to a little over a dozen with anomalous capabilities, Arcadia is a haven for kindred spirits, but often targeted by self-righteous groups of ‘heroes’ and the occasional band of government agents seeking to earn a name for themselves by capturing or eliminating what they see as a blight.
Those within Arcadia (formerly the American Research Center or ARC) are spiteful of the world that has rejected them, taken away their lives and forced them into hiding. Many believe themselves to be descendants of gods, or a new generation of human evolution. As such, they seek dominance in the world, not to destroy humans, but to secure their place at the top.
Arcadia-
-entry- Arcadia is a lab that was built into the side of a mountain, it's face a dam. To get to the laboratories, you must enter through the decrepit flood gates, long dry, but still a maze of steel and cement. Past that is a huge steel door, hiding the entrance hall to the lab. The hall has two stories, with a cat-walk around the walls, leading to specialized labs. The main entrance hall is 2 full stories to hold equipment long since useless, and a secondary control terminal. -first floor/second floor- The first floor hold labs, not much else. Most of the labs have been converted to training cells or bedrooms. The second floor is very similar save for the labs on the second floor are specialized to hold 'specimen,' those with powers. Each is designed to hold a different type of power, many capable of holding the residents of Arcadia. Avalon was found in one of these rooms. -third floor- The third floor is the wreck floor, it hold the kitchen and dining hall, as well as living rooms, and a library. It also has a balcony useful for lookout. -fourth floor- The main control Floor, it's the safest floor, built as one large panic-room, not even the strongest members of Arcadia can break in or out of this floor. There are no cameras on this floor, but the main control terminal is located here. The main control Terminal also has access to personal files on all the residents of Arcadia and all past residents of ARC.
Names-
Most who join Arcadia are given a special name, a name to replace their 'human name' which is thereafter used more for insulting the person than anything. Calling those within Arcadia by their 'human name' is often a way to express displeasure with that person, or to state weakness or just general degradation. Gen2 and Gen3 tend toward more stylish names, while Gen1 often have campy, kitschy names reflecting heavily upon their powers.
The leaders-
The three that lead Arcadia are each in charge of one of three sections of necessity: Combat, Maintenance, Diplomacy. Any who come to Arcadia are expected to help in one of those three areas, combat of course garnering the most attention.
Name- Colossa
Age- 46
Appearance- 6'3, 210 pounds, Colossa as she is called is larger than life, with broad shoulders and thick muscles. Her short, honey colored hair is often hidden away, showing her deep brown eyes and deep, warm skin. She wears no armor, preferring to be mobile in combat.
Bio- A first gen, She was a super hero of unmatched caliber, Colossa was rarely not on the front lines of any combat, her name was synonymous with glory. At 19, Colossa’s troupe was disbanded, and sent on their ways after collateral damage had reached an uncontrollable peak. Enraged that her life was suddenly taken away, that all she had known and the only place she was accepted was gone, she fought back, and was nearly killed. She was found by a Villain who held an eerily similar mindset, and the two reluctantly began working together, Soon after, they found Arcadia, which was practically torturing those with powers, in some hope of finding cures for colds or elongating lifespans. She heads the Combat Third of Arcadia.
PK- Strength beyond compare.
Personality- Colossa is arrogant and cocky, aware of her strength and relying on it heavily. Although few see past this, those that do see a very motherly, caring person, who is very hard on others expecting more of them than mediocrity.

Name- Wattage
Age- 52
Appearance- 5'11, 148 pounds, Wattage has short graying hair that was once a deep, rusty blond, is reaches just past the base of his neck, and is unkempt , his bright blue eyes shimmer in the light. His skin is pale, and studded with bits of metal, which he is reluctant to show off, often opting to wear covering coats or suits.
Bio- Born in Ireland, Wattage was once a successful lawyer, hiding his powers, even from his wife and children. He fought against the heroes that sought to protect those that would take away Wattage’s way of life, strip him of all his rights and force him into all but slavery. When it came out that he had powers, His wife left him, and shortly after the troupe of villains was disbanded or eliminated. His rampage was a quiet one, laden in alcoholism and drug abuse. One day he stumbled upon a dying giant surrounded by agents ready to kill her. After saving her, he had a hard time convincing her to join up and protect the next generation of people with powers. With the help of the newly enlisted titanic woman, the two reclaimed a research facility. He heads the Diplomacy Third of Arcadia.
PK- Manipulate electric currents. The bits of metal conduct electricity allowing him more control of external electric sources.
Personality- Wattage is intelligent, but very arrogant. One of the few that age normally, he holds resentment to people like Avalon that seemingly stop aging. He is very subtle in his ways, preferring to work behind the scenes, he tends to be Colossa's foil, regarding her, and people like her as frustrating and pig-headed.
Appearance- 5'7, 138 pounds, Avalon appears very young, just rounding into his twenties, with shaggy, silvery blond hair and deep blue eyes. His skin is pale and pockmarked with freckles. He often wears summer clothes, light, breezy shorts and t-shirts even in the dead of winter.
Bio- Born in Vietnam, his father was an american, his mother was vietnamese, Avalon was raised in southern China. At 11 his powers emerged and he was shipped to a special research facility for those like him. There, he was given neural implants to enhance his powers, he was the first and only Super-Super hero. His implants failed in battle, leaving his powers uncontrollable. With the failure of his implants he was removed form the hero scene, but wished to assist in any way he could, so he enlisted in an american troupe, where he did behind-the-scenes work to ensure the safety of the heroes. Well before the end of the hero era, Avalon was captured and presumed dead. He was rescued from Arcadia by Wattage and Colossa who both saw use for him, despite his unwillingness to use his powers or even speak. He heads the Maintenance Third of Arcadia.
PK- Vibrational Manipulation
Personality- Avalon is very distant, mostly due to his silence. If he is unable to express himself properly through a nod or shake of the head, he tends to simply withdraw and ignore any conversations. He is very sweet, but seems asexual, he is very fond of company, but won't actively seek it.
NPC List-
Name- Static
Age- 24
Appearance- 5'6, 148 pounds, Static is fairly average in height and weight. With green, scaled skin and deep turquoise hair, she stands out in a crowd, but is otherwise fairly pretty.
Bio- Born to two average parents, Static was isolated due to her appearance. She was home-schooled and her family moved often to avoid speculation. At 4 her powers first emerged, but were very weak, as she aged she learned to control them better, and when she was 14, she tried to resurrect the hero era, an act that ended with her being stoned by scared townspeople, and chased for miles. She left her family, in an effort to protect them, and joined Arcadia less than a month later.
PK- Technopathy
Gen- gen3
Personality- Static is very friendly, and tends to be very resilient, laughing most things off, but she has a temper that is set off by people who act vain or degrade others based on appearance. She is very big-sister to those with physical mutations, favoring them obviously. While not outwardly flirtatious, she does make her intentions known, she isn't good at lying. ----------------------------------------------- Name- Umbra
Age- 48
Appearance- 5'11, 168 pounds, Umbra is fit, and capable. With dark hair and pale skin, he is often seen as very malicious and devious. His mysterious, youthful appearance is very alluring, especially when mixed with his natural, suave charisma.
Bio- Born in Spain, Umbra was a well-known villain, one of the leaders of the Villain group ‘Evolucione’ which translates to evolve. The group believed they were the next step, the inheritors of the world. The group was consisted of several Gen1's, and as such were dangerous beyond belief, especially since the superheroes were constricted by the UN, and had to act in accordance to their wishes, while Evolucione was free to do as they wished. This lead to the group conquering much of Spain and France. Upon the fall of the hero era, Evolucione disbanded, many were hunted down by former heroes now free to act as they wished. Umbra joined Arcadia with the hopes of destroying the lives of as many heroes as he could.
PK- Creation of stars.
Gen- Gen1
Personality- Umbra is mysterious, often saying very little, he is often very stern, but primarily soft-spoken. Aware of his attractive appearance, he often uses it to beguile others, swaying them to his will. Very flirtatious, Umbra is sweet-natured, unless someone crosses him or openly goes against his will. While not one to cause a public disturbance, Umbra is known for being very revenge-oriented, willing to wait several years for revenge. ----------------------------------------------- Name- Wyrd
Age- 76
Appearance- 5'6, 48 pounds, Wyrd’s body is made of water, which ebbs and flows with a serene elegance. Her long, inky hair reaches past her waist.
Bio- Born in Japan, Wyrd was originally dubbed Tsunami, but changed to Wyrd to reflect her almost faultless intuition. Growing up, she was very normal, but was the victim of a toxic spill. Her body dissolved in the water, she died at the age of 11. A few years later, the young girl’s consciousness reformed in the sea-foam. She emerged from the sea a formation of water and foam. She was worshiped as a daughter of Izanami, the goddess of the earth. Wyrd, then Tsunami, protected Japan from the tyranny of the villains who sought to conquer it. For decades it was this way until she was told her help was no longer wanted. Spiteful and dejected, she flooded several miles of bay area, and left the island nation. She joined Arcadia a short while after it was formed.
PK- Hydro-manipulation and liquification
Gen- Gen1
Personality- Wyrd is aloof and very odd, being worshiped as a goddess after decades will do that to people. While she tends to be nice, it's very obvious that she understands that with her given powers, Arcadia needs her more than she needs them, and she knows it. Wyrd doesn't flirt, although she is known for being very sexually active. ----------------------------------------------- Name- Plasma
Age- 24
Appearance- 6'1, 184 pounds, Plasma is strong and well-built. Dark honey skin causes stark blue eyes to stand out in an eery fashion.
Bio- Born blind, in Iran, Plasma was always treated with some disdain, often seen as a hindrance, although his family was very close, so no one would speak against him. At 16, his powers emerged, He could suddenly see, but nobody knew how. Local doctors attributed it to a high level of radiation from a local water-supply. His eyes slowly grew brighter and brighter as his eyesight improved. When he was an adult his eyesight was perfect, but due to his very odd eyes, he was ostracized. He didn’t even realize he had powers until he came to America and grew frustrated with the constant insinuation that he was a terrorist. Soon the tolerance wavered and Plasma was attacked. The attackers were five adult men, who simply dropped dead. Plasma went to Arcadia and his fears were realized... he had powers.
PK- Generation of radiation, under duress can manifest as a thick cloud of dust, harmful to anyone not powered.
Gen- Gen2
Personality- Plasma is very shy, although very strong in his convictions, although he is very socially awkward. Due to his strong accent, he can be hard to understand, but tries his best. While a very honest person, he always seems like he's hiding something. He tends to prefer solitude, but is more than hospitable to others, although is often unwilling to ask for assistance.
Appearance- Medium height and thin build, with a long oval face and thin lips. She is on the attractive side, and has pale blond hair cut into a chin length bob. She has deep brown eyes and pasty skin.
Bio- Egret was born with the name Jillian Thompson to regular parents in a small seaside town in Great Briton She lived a normal live until she developed her powers at age sixteen. She ran away from home because her parents hated the "freaks", villains and heros alike. She found refuge with a group of the latter in America and fell in love with a man whom was a fellow hero. When she was 22 she became pregnant. After the birth of his daughter, the man told Jillian that he did not want the responsibility of a child, and was planning on leaving. In a fit of wild rage, Jillian killed him, then hid the evidence and left her child and searched for the villains, of whom she felt she now belonged. When she joined them she discarded her hero name and introduced herself as Egret, in honour of her bird like PK. It's similarity to regret is not coincidental.
PK- Egret's body produces an unidentified forcefield like matter which repels against any object near her. She often uses this to push herself off the ground, and is able to hover and move around, essentially flying.
Gen- Gen2
Personality- Egret is hardened and untrusting, hiding a much softer side. She is stubborn and slightly haughty, and refuses to show weakness, but is privately agonized for her actions against her daughter and Edge's father.
The Thirds-
Combat- Both Defense and Offense, both fighting and tactical, The Combat Third (CTA) is responsible for protecting those residing in Arcadia and preventing breeches in security.
Diplomacy- Essentially greeting cards, The Diplomacy Third (DTA) is responsible for inducting new members and for the education of those already within Arcadia.
Maintenance- They keep Acadia running. The Maintenance Third (MTA) is responsible for nutritional resources, as well as maintaining the base itself. While many in the other Thirds are enlisted for assistance in those fields as well, the more menial tasks fall to Avalon and his brood.
Powers- Often referred to as PK, (in reference to the science community’s statement that all powers are based in the mind and are thus Psychokinetic) powers vary greatly from person to person. There are so few in the world that still have powers that the reasons behind their existence is still a mystery. They most often develop for reasons such as radiation exposure or heredity. The most powerful are those belonging to the first generation, although even they are descendants from those with powers, but it’s been dormant for so long that they are considered the first generation to have powers. The second and third generations are often diluted, so their powers are weaker or more unstable. The second and third generations are more prone to physical mutations as well, their genes not built for the mutations the way the first generation’s was. (The biggest difference between generations is power level, Gen2 has great power, Gen3 has nominal power and Gen1 has phenomenal power... beyond Gen3 and the powers are visible, but nothing special, and often ill-controlled)

Due to the fact that so many with powers are age retarded (age slower than average) many are capable of having children well into their 60's, 70's or even 80's, so it’s possible to be a second gen at age 50, or even a fourth or fifth gen, although any powers manifesting would be minimal and physical mutations would often be deadly to the host.

Name- Tin Man
Age- 46
Appearance- 6'7, 270 Black hair cut short to the head, piercing blue eyes and an easy smile. He is the model of male physical perfection that comes naturally as a result of good genetics and then his transformation. Skin is a rich olive complexion which hints at the origins of his somewhat exotic heritage. Looks to be in his late twenties to early thirties.

Bio- Tin Man followed in the path of his sister Colossa. Sticking with her because she was the only family he had left, having sworn to protect her to their parents (not that she really needed much in the way of saving). Still he lost her after their group was disbanded and there was some chaos though he has now found her again and has taken up the task of helping her protect this Sanctuary that is their home.
PK- Tin Man has the ability to transform his entire body into a form of "organic steel", with properties analogous to osmium but of still unknown composition. Tin Man cannot transform a portion of his body into this armored state; he must either transform completely or remain within his normal state. When he transforms, he gains around a foot in height and his weight is at least doubled. In his armored form, Tin Man possesses superhuman levels of strength, as well as superhuman stamina and durability. Also, in his metal form, he is immune to telepathy and all kinds of psionic attacks. While in his armored form, Tin Man requires no food, water, or even oxygen to sustain himself, and is extremely resistant to injury. He is capable of withstanding great impacts, large caliber bullets, falling from tremendous heights, temperature extremes of hot and cold, electricity, and certain magical attacks. It has been shown that he is vulnerable to the anti-metal vibranium in his metal form, his body instinctively shifting to human form when faced with a vibranium weapon.

Edit-Here's mine.
Name- Firefly
Age- 27
Appearance- 5'7, 120 pounds, jet black hair reaches just past shoulder blades, contrasting with stark, pale skin. Deep brown eyes, stare out from under the dark bangs, giving her a haunting appearance. She is lithe and wears clothes considered mostly fashionable, although rarely keeps up to date on all the latest fashions, so her tastes are a couple seasons behind.
Bio- Little is known of Firefly’s parents, although there is speculation that her Mother was a well known super-hero, but it’s just that, speculation. Put up for adoption, Firefly always dreamed of being adopted by a super-hero, and raised to fight crime. It wasn’t until she was 6 years old that her dream came true in essence; her powers emerged. She was shipped off to live with the superheroes, although they made poor parents. Her general passivity and destructive power made her a poor candidate to become a superhero. A few years later, she was put back into foster care with enough control to turn her power off and the instructions to not use them, the hero era was dead. She abided well enough, and lived a mostly normal life, at 16 she left foster care, working as a part-time novice model, she put herself through college. She lived as a registered nurse for a number of years until her hospital burned down, and she survived, she was blamed, she ran. She found Arcadia by pure accident, but stayed on as a member of the medical staff.
PK- Her body generates a liquid similar to Diethyl Ether, which she can ignite by raising her body temperature, making her immune to fire or extreme heat.

Bio: Eris was 5 years old when the war started and remembers nothing but fighting and fear. When her dad died from the infection and her mom found out her powers she was put into an orphanage. Before she had full control over her power she accidentally vaporized the building and people inside. She felt no sorrow or regret with murdering 40 people so when she found Arcadia she joined without doubt.
Personality: Eris is quiet but has a lust for revenge and often appears heartless. She never really talks to anyone because of the immense age difference. She has such a destructive power she often sees people as below her, but in truth she is only a lonely teenage girl and would love to be accepted at Arcadia.
PK: Eris can summon anti-matter and use it to make things spontaneously combust.

Appearance-
Bio- Ellie grew up a happy child and was popular in grade school and in middle school. In Jr High she started feeling a little diffrent and was casted as an 'outcast' in school. She talked to her parents about she was feeling and they explained to her that they whre super heros and she was one as well. She finidhed out the rest of that year and was homeschool so she could harness her powers. Now age 24 she has great control.
PK- Ellie can run faster then a normal huaman being and is highly trained in karate and can fight without a staff or with one.

Name: Edge
Age: 15
Bio: Edge's mother was a hero who ran away from her group when she was blamed for the mysterious disappearance of Edge's father. She left newborn Edge with the heros in the hopes that they would adopt her, which they did. However, Edge was treated with much distrust because of her traitorous mother. She ran away from the heros when she was ten to find her family, and in a strange twist of fate stumbled onto a group of Arcadians who were travelling on a mission. Learning of her powers, they took her back to Arcadia, where she was reunited with her mother, whom she now has a difficult, rocky, relationship with.
PK: Edge has control over the density of the particles in her body; she can sublimate from her regular solid form to a ghost-like gas state. When she does this her usually small body increases in size to accommodate the spreading of her body's particles. She becomes translucent, though keeps a distinguishable likeness to her regular form. She can move very quickly while in a "gas" state.
Gen: 3
Appearance: Edge is skinny, short and frail looking. She has pale skin and hair, and dark amber eyes. (Thank you to anikakinka)

I'm with Taylor on this one, I love the characters, and they're all approved, I think you guys could totally post in Alpha! By the way, guys, I'm really very proud that everyone took the first post in, and made accordingly powered people, and I love the diversity of appearances!
I'll have a map and NPC sheets up soon... after that, if SweetSacrifice and Eboycrash haven't posted, I'll open this up... or just pm them... I'll figure something out.

The IC is up here... please post where your character was before the meeting, and a reaction to the meeting... beyond that, post any questions and if you're unsure how Colossa would answer, send me a pm, or post the question here, and I'll be more than happy to give her answer.
Appearance- Lightly tanned skin that covers his lanky frame, 6’4 and 160 pounds; he is sort of a lightweight. Wispy black hair shrouds his head and golden eyes give him a strange look. His clothing of choice consist of a white trench coat, black jeans, and a pair of solid toe climbing boots.
Bio- Adopted into a military family at the age of five, Replica excelled in schooling and was given a full ride to Stanford. During his freshmen year at Stanford, his power emerged quite unexpectedly, forcing an escape into Tennessee, where he began work at a small auto-repair shop. The police caught him in the act of copying bills and almost captured him, with a injured leg he found Arcadia, and now works with the Maintenance section.
PK- Matter replication. Replica can take an object, copy its element structure and “paste it†creating an exact copy of the object, usually next to the original. While his ability might seem extremely powerful, it has major draw backs, if he wants to copy a machine, it can only be relatively simple (IE he can copy a revolver but not a semi-auto pistol, because the semi-auto has more moving parts.) And the object can’t be very large, and the original object degrades slightly after each copy.

As a side note, the first post on this page has been updated to include information about Arcadia's layout and the NPC's... if you wish to create an NPC [a character that anyone can control, whether related to your character or not] please pm me the character sheet, and include a 'personality' section as noted in the NPC list.
