That's right, CFers! We know it's been a longtime coming since it was first suggested by you, the members, but it's finally been installed! So, without further ado, here is the full breakdown on how this mod works:

- - - -

How To Use This Nifty Mod | +
Image

It's an easy-to-work mod. Just as the example on the bbcode of the post page shows (as highlighted in the spoiler'd picture above), all you need to do is input [dice][/dice] with the parameters for the roll betwixt the brackets. The highest possible amount that you can do is twenty dice at one time on any given roll, and max rolls per post is twenty with whichever dice you wish to use for the roll. Whether it be a six-sided, twelve-sided, twenty-sided, whatever dice you need! Just follow the instructions provided when you scroll over it. This can also calculate modifiers of the + and -, depending on what you need. Basically, you just place the modifier number after the dice number within the code bracket. Example: [*dice]1d20-5[/dice] (the Asterisk is there just for the sake of keeping the code from going through on the post. Of course, you are to remove it before you post your own code).

You won't be able to see any results if you preview the topic prior to posting, so please keep this in mind. It's not broken, but won't activate until you submit the post. Also, you cannot edit the post after submission to fix the dice roll; If you do go in and edit the post, it'll show another set of results beneath the first, thus making the edit noticeable and evident.

- - - -

How Results Look | +
Image

How the results look will be entirely dependent upon your settings. Found in your User Control Panel (under "Board Preferences"), you'd click on "Edit Display Options". At the very bottom, as shown in the picture above, you'll see the option to have the rolls across the board show up as text, or two different sets of dice. They'll look like one of the following:

Text Dice Roll | +
Image

Picture Dice Roll | +
Image

- - - -

There ya have it! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask; We'll be happy to answer them and shed light on this new feature. It's able to be posted in any IC/OOC area of our boards.

Lets get the dice rolling!

So... what is the format inside the brackets? I know inside the [] you put 'dice' but what do you put between the first brackets and the second? I'm just not sure how to put together the perimeters for the dice I want.

When you scroll over the option itself in the posting area, it shows you, but I'll show you here with a space to be clear.

Say you want to roll three, six-sided dice. You'd put "3d" for three dice, and then "6" for the sides they'd hold ("3d6" put together). You put that in between the first and second bracket sets. So, it'll read as follows (sans space): "[dice]3d6[ /dice]".

Make sense?

Has this worked? Pretty nifty idea.

edit: you can't center it, worth noting if people try. Okay, not sure if I'm an idiot, but it doesn't want to work.

Works for me.

Edit: Though I turned it on here mainly to demonstrate, as pointed out above in the main post, it is only going to be active in the roleplay areas.

I don't think it's working for me and I'm pretty sure I've done it right. Oh no, does work.

edit: For some reason 3d6 doesn't work for me.

It is likely it won't work with tapatalk, because the program itself likes to be funny with BBcode. But, let me try from my phone just in case.

As seen above Tapatalk, does not like the code, though that is the case for other code as well. I will look into this, but for the time being it appears that you can only use the dice mod when you are viewing the site normally and not via tapatalk.

If you were to just view the site from the browser on your phone you could post your dice roll and then use tapatalk to write the post. I've posted twice through the browser of my phone, just to check and it works just fine that way along with the other bbcodes.

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes. "
