"You're welcome."

Katie replied to Josie, trying to picture the layout of the room as her friend described it as well. While she wasn't open enough to communicate to spirits to the same way her teammates were, she thought it was worth a try.

"I agree."

Katie said when Jean also agreed the spirit box would be a good idea. Katie hoped they would find out what was in this house. Not just help Marissa and her kids feel safer, but also help whoever was trapped here to move on. To find peace.

"And that is probably a good idea."

Katie said when Jean mentioned he could have some rituals ready for them. Who knew what they were dealing with. On investigations, Katie wore a small Saint Michael's medal around her neck. It was believed that wearing it would protect someone from evil spirits. While Katie wasn't religious enough to go to church every week, she did think that it was best to prepared. When dealing with ghosts, you had no idea what you were getting. Different types of religious ways of handling them were more then welcome with Katie as well.

Katie watched Jean and Josephine move the bed and helped move the other things into the places Josie believed they should be. She played with the medal around her neck. Glad that the room was arranged to be correct but also nervous. When they came back tonight, who knew what they would find. Perhaps it was just a spirit that wanted to be heard. But it could also be a lot worse. They had no way of knowing until tonight.

When Josie mentioned two spirits, Katie wrote that down in her notebook. Two wasn't good. The one might be benign, but it wasn't likely both were.

"While you two prepare for tonight, I can start to research the history of the house. See if there were any earthquakes in the past around here. And see if anyone passed away here too."

Getting a better grip on the bed, Jean followed Josie's instructions and together the pair got it to where it had once been. As Josie stepped back to study the room now that the furniture had been moved, Jean dusted his hands off and stood near the door, ready for whatever came next.

He was both grateful and a little disappointed that they were heading back to the hotel. Though he knew they had seen enough to have some idea as to what they were getting into, the priest always felt like there was still more to find, always something unexpected to discover that could help make or break a case. It would be nice to get the chance to prepare for that night though, especially now that they did in fact have a sense of the place to work with.

He nodded to Josie about wanting to talk to him about a few details. He listened to what she expressed, thinking of what he could do in the event that the other spirit did try to get in.

"A protection amulet, or charged talisman would be beneficial." He said, knowing it would take some energy to charge one of these but also knowing it would be helpful in protecting Josie from any spirit wishing harm. He would also have the necessary supplies ready to call upon specific loa for their help and protection. Jean would do all in his power to ensure his team's protection. Already, the voodoo priest was thinking of which items he had, and those he would need to get for tonight, seemingly lost in his own world of ingredients, rituals, and prayers as Josie moved to sit on the bed, and Katie said she would do some research.

"If we are ready, we should go." Jean said, not wanting to force either of them if they weren't ready. "The more time we have to prepare, the better we may be tonight."

Josephine nodded when Katie made her notes. She liked working with her friends, and they already knew each other well and knew each other's ways of working.

When Katie said she would research the history of the house, Josie nodded again.

"The two spirits we have here probably did, but I would love confirmation", she replied to her friend's words. Josephine had a very strong belief in spirits, but she was rational enough to know that confirmation was still important. That, and having further information could help her work more efficiently when it came to communicating with the spirits and trying to help them move on.

Turning her attention back to Jean, Josie nodded when he suggested a protection amulet or a charged talisman. "Very well, I trust your judgement. I just ask that you keep it with you until needed. Having me channel might be helpful if the friendly spirit wants to talk, after all", she replied.

After touching the bed for a while, Josie stood up at Jean's words. "All right, we should indeed. We should come back as soon as it's dark. Katie, will you meet us back at the hotel, or will you come straight to the house?", Josie asked, wanting to make sure that they would all be in the same page about the plans. She would, of course, prefer that they would all meet at the hotel. This way, they could be prepared with Katie's findings and Josie could plan ahead on her approach of the two spirits. That might be very helpful and make their work easier, after all.

Katie felt there was a lot they needed to learn about this house. There was far more going on then one could see with his or her own eyes. Coming back, at night, would be a good idea. Spirits, both good and bad, seemed to be more active at night when the rest of the world was asleep.

Katie nodded her head to Jean.

"That sounds good to me."

She then turned to Josie.

"Confirmation is always a good thing."

While she never doubted Josie, she knew that not everyone believed in mediums. Having research to back up the claims often helped the homeowners realize that what was happening was real, and not in someone's imagination. Katie thought a moment about Josie's question and said.

"Let's meet back at the hotel. That way we can go over what I find and be more prepared coming back here."

Katie didn't like going into a house without a game plan. She planned to head to the library with her notes and see what she could find out about the history of this house. And she'd call home too. See how Dylan and Sam were doing.

Jean simply nodded when Josie asked her to keep the amulet with him until needed. Like the times before when he had made such things, both for the team and for clients, Jean would keep the amulet tucked away and ready. It was part of the process that only those whom the particular talisman was made for could touch it directly, and as such Jean took the precautions for this.

Seeming to perk up and return fully to the present situation, Jean waited for whatever decision was made regarding where Katie would meet them, at the hotel or here. When it was decided to all meet back at the hotel, Jean took a step towards the door, ready to go and get things sorted. The familiar buzz of excitement and nervousness could be felt as it often was before a case. Though this seemed more dangerous than some others, the opportunity to help others in ways few knew how was still the same.

The priest would likely lock himself away in his room for a while, setting things out and sorting items and such into the necessary rituals when he got back to the hotel. It had happened before that a staff member of the hotel the team had been staying at had walked in on this process. After a quick explanation and a promise not to put a curse or jinx on the room, they had left a little shaken and Jean couldn't help but feel as though they had kept their distance from him until the team had left. He had grown use to this though, and didn't expect anything less from this small town where 'outside' religion were likely looked down upon. Jean would be sure to lock his door and make use of the do not disturb sign. A repeat performance was not something he was looking for, or had the time for.

Of course, both Josie and Katie could come to him, they had worked side by side with him enough that Jean was comfortable having them around even with the more bizarre of things. He knew Josie wanted to talk to him about a few things and would need to be fully present for that instead of on auto-pilot as he had a tendency of doing.

Josephine was glad to have Katie around. Not only were the two women good friends, Katie was very good at collecting information and organizing it to either corroborate or correct her findings. Unlike many mediums, Josie cared more about the truth than about being right, and research, combined with what spirits told her, was essential to get to the truth. "Thanks, Katie, you're awesome", she replied when her friend said confirmation was always a good thing.

She then nodded when Katie suggested they should meet back at the hotel and go over her findings. "Very well, looks fine to me", she replied.

It would indeed be good to have something about the house and prepare for whatever spirits she might meet in there. She knew activity would probably be stronger at night, and they all needed to be prepared. Josie had the feeling that it would be a long night.

She nodded back to Jean hen he agreed to keep the amulet. She knew it was for her protection, but she also knew that being 'open' - unprotected - for the initial contact might be helpful. She would leave her crucifix out as well, as she wanted to make sure that nothing would cut the connection, even though she felt those were spirits of the deceased.

Josie planned on resting and maybe preparing her body for some punishment. With all she had felt during their visit, Josie feared they would face a really aggressive and malicious spirit. Hopefully, they would be able to rid the house of the spirits in the end. She felt that one of them would be quite easy, as soon as the harder one - the hostile spirit - was out.

"All right, let's go then, Jean", Josie finally spoke up. "I need to prepare for the night, and I'm sure you do too", she completed, waiting for Jean to follow her to the car. She would prefer to drive in silence to the hotel, her mind focused on what would happen later, but she would welcome questions and reply if some happened to be asked. Otherwise, she would only speak once they reached the hotel, and just to tell Jean they would meet up later, when Katie returned with her findings.

Katie was a firm believer that it was better to be safe, then sorry. Until they returned tonight, they had no idea what they were truly dealing with. She thought it was a good idea to keep the amulet as well. Katie grabbed her phone and gave the notebook a brief glance. She'd have a lot of research to do at the local library and the county clerk's office. She hoped the people at both locations would be helpful. Sometimes she found helpful people and other times she didn't. It just depended on who was working. Some people didn't like out of towners digging into their city's past. Or they just didn't believe in spirits and thought Katie was a nutcase.

"You're welcome."

Katie gave Josie a smile. She agreed with her friends it was time to leave. While Jean and Josie prepared for the night's investigation, Katie would gather information. She hoped to find some information about what had happened in this house's past. She drove Josie back to the hotel and then headed downtown to do her research.

Following Josie out of the house and to where the cars were parked, Jean waited to see who would be driving her back. When Katie did so, Jean made his way to the back to the hotel in silence. Upon arrival, he noted Josie's message that they would meet up later and went off to his own room.

Not bothering to turn the lights on, Jean sunk down onto the bed and rubbed his face. He had made a mental list on the drive of what he would need to get, things he didn't have on him or at hand. After a few passing minutes, the priest rummaged in his bag for a notepad and pen. He scribbled down the list, containing mostly herbs, and a few other items, as well as a quick note saying he was out but would be back shortly.

Leaving the note stuck to the door, Jean, backpack slung over his shoulder, once more made his way to the rented car. It was mainly food offerings he had to get as he wasn't fond of the idea of carrying meat and such in his bag. Luckily, what Jean needed was considered normal items, like goat meat, grilled yams, and hot peppers. No live sacrifices from what he could tell, that stuff could wait for home. He had roasted corn and bananas, as well as the various coloured cloths needed, so that wasn't a problem. Neither was the small purchase either.

He hadn't been gone for more than an hour. Arriving back at the hotel with his supplies, the priest ducked into his room and set about separating one summoning ritual from the other, and ensuring he had the prayers he would need. He would also need to ready the amulet in case it was needed, thankfully the few things needed for that were already in his back and didn't require a second trip. Overall, Jean felt ready for tonight. Zipping the bag closed and setting it next to the door, he perched on the bed and tried phoning Anabelle only to receive no answer. Sighing, he placed the phone next to him, crossed his arms over his chest, and stared at the ceiling, lost in thought.

Josie hoped Katie would find helpful people as well. She knew full well how towns varies when it came to that. Some people were happy to talk about their town's history, while some viewed newcomers and outsiders with some suspicion. Hopefully they would not come across the second kind of citizen.

While they drove back to the hotel, Josie kept a light conversation, and thanked her friend again once she stepped out of the car, wishing Katie good luck. She would still wait for the car to drive away before making her way in.

Once in the hotel, and sure that she had a few hours for herself, Josie shut herself into her room, putting the 'do not disturb' sign on her doorknob on the outside.

Josie's first concern was to make sure the voice box was working and they had enough tape and batteries, just in case the place where they were to set it didn't have an electrical outlet near the box. Once sure of that, Josie set her alarm and laid on her bed with a book. She needed to be well rested and relaxed, even if she didn't plan on sleeping. Something told Josie it would be a rough night.

While the outsiders prepared for the night, and for the mission ahead, the townspeople were already speaking. They had been talking about the haunted house before, of course. Some thought the house was really haunted by people who had lived there years ago. Others thought the lady of the house was not right in the head, and her children were being influenced by their mother. And now, they were also talking about the newcomers. They had been to the house, and been seen talking to the current owner, so it was clear why they were there. Well... maybe they would prove once and for all that there were no ghosts in the house, and go away, so the town could go back to living in peace.

Strangers were not really welcome.

Katie dropped Josie off at the hotel. She hoped that she and Jean, both got some rest. They'd both need to be well rested for the investigation tonight. Katie hoped to get in a small nap herself, once she got some research done.

It didn't take long for Katie to realize that the people in this town didn't really like strangers. Especially not strangers who were here to look into the haunted house. Thankfully, though, for all the skeptics and mistrusting residents, Katie was usually able to find one helpful person. She found that person at the records hall. An elderly woman, one who had seen more then enough things in her life to know there was more to life then just what you could see with your own eyes. Odd things happened and sometimes there was no reasonable explanation for it. For the price of a coffee, the lady was more then willing to let Katie know what she knew about the house. It didn't answer all the questions they had, but it was a start.

The woman hoped that Katie and her friends who could get to the bottom of what was going in the house so that nice lady who owned and it her kids would be safe. Katie honestly hoped that as well. After a hour nap, Katie met up with her friends.

"Well, most people in this town aren't too thrilled about us being here. They think we, and the homeowner, aren't right in the head..."

Katie said with a frown to Jean and Josie.

"But Mrs Whail, she works in the records hall, was very helpful."

Katie pulled out a folder and showed her friends pictures of the house back when it was built and a pictures Mrs Whail had found of the people who first lived there.

"Before all the ghost stories began, a very wealthy family, the Montgomery's, lived there. They had a daughter, who died of the flu in the house. Supposedly in that bedroom you wanted to rearrange, Josie."

Katie pointed the picture of the little girl with her parents. She then pointed to the picture of an adult woman, who was wearing a nanny's uniform.

"A few days later, her nanny died. She fell down the stairs."

Jean had ended up dozing off for a while. Jolting awake, he sat up, looked at the clock and rubbed his eyes. He had meant to fall asleep. He had only wanted to rest for a few minutes before finishing the amulet and cleaning up in time to meet with the rest of the team. Now he had enough time to clear up the few things he still had scattered around the room, and make a basic charm for the amulet before slipping from the room and finding Josie and Katie.

Hearing what Katie had to say on the townspeople, Jean couldn't help but grin with a shake of his head. It wasn't the first time he had heard this kind of remark, both from previous cases, as well as in his personal life. People didn't like those who weren't like them, and there were very few who actively pursued paranormal activity in small towns like this one. And people also tended to fear the unknown, and that was what they often dealt with.

The priest leaned forward to listen to what Katie had to say next about what she had found. He studied the photos she showed them, taking in the appearance of the house then, and noting how it had changed in the years leading up until now. He knew that spirits often became restless with change, but felt there was more to it than that.

He always appreciated what Katie did for the team. Knowing more about a location helped with knowing a building, and even what it had gone through. When they learned that someone had died in at location, it was helpful in knowing what they may be dealing with. In this case, a child and nanny.

Jean didn't feel as though the child was the source of the problem. Though he did wonder if the nanny had simply fallen or if something else had had something to do with it. It maybe a link to the other, more negative experience felt in the house earlier. Something that may have been around for quite some time.

Josie had gotten enough rest to feel refreshed, and was now looking forward to hearing what Katie had to say. It was so good to have Katie on their side, Josie thought to herself. She always managed to find someone willing to talk, no matter what, and that was priceless for their work.

Hearing Katie say that most people in town were not thrilled about them being here made Josie shake her head and smile. That wasn't really a surprise. And, to be honest, Josie couldn't blame the locals. She wouldn't like people coming into her town and talking of ghosts either, if she didn't believe them.

When Katie pulled out a folder, Josie leaned forward, curious. The picture of the house was interesting, but the ones of the people were much more interesting to her purposes. They were looking for ghosts, after all, and only people became ghosts. Of course, there might be another kind of spirit, but Josie really hoped they were dealing with ghosts, and not demonic presences. That would definitely be more of a problem than ghosts. Not that those would be easy, of course.

"Poor child", Josie murmured with a sigh. "I pray we may bring peace to her little soul". She nodded when Katie mentioned the nanny, and the way she had passed. "That would explain why I felt out of balance half way down the stairs", Josie added, shaking her head. "Perhaps the anger I felt comes from her. Hopefully that is all there is there", she completed, falling silence for a moment or two.

After some thought, she turned to Jean. "I believe the child will not give us too much trouble. The older spirit might. It feels as though she is not a friendly one. And yet...", Josie interrupted herself with a sigh. She was not happy with what she was about to say. "...I might have to open myself out to her and let her tell us what is holding her here", Josie murmured, looking at Jean. "I guess at this point, you know what to do". She then turned to Katie. "I would like you to record whatever she says, if you please", Josie requested quietly.
