The withered forest was brown and stained with a black, thick ichor. Bodies of various beasts and monsters littered the ground with stab wounds and blackened skin. A lone figure stepped from the the dry brush and wiped the very same ichor off his blade. Daphnes sheathed his sword and strapped the shield to his back as he went to inspect the bodies. This was no ambush by ganondorf or a band of marauders. Simply a random assortment of beings trying to find a new home. Unfortunately for them, this home was already taken.

The great land of Hyrule was a land of shadows and demons. Far from the golden paradise it once was, stories of fertile land and vast cities is all but a memory to some, and legend to most. Daphnes knew otherwise however. Urged on by his repertoire of stories and legends from his new family.

Finding nothing of interest among the corpses, He made his way back to this home. An outcrop of lush green, maybe the last in all Hyrule. Even this is a shadow of it's former days. The Kokiri woods once spanned the entire withered woods. Magic alone however, was not enough to sustain something so large in a world with so little sunlight.

Branch after branch snapped as he made his way back to the outcrop, but soon the snaps faded to the soft padding of green. Leaves grew, grass poked upwards, and fruit was plentiful. It was a last paradise, and to Daphnes it was a false one. He pushed through the softer brush as he did the dryed, and it all gave way to his girth.

Few kokiri played in the distance. Once a childlike people of whimsy and laughter, the immortal kokiri have had to grow up, literally and mentally, the magic of the forest keeping it alive, instead of its people. Living an eternity as a child, only to suddenly age and go through puberty was a very trying time for their psyche.

Seeing them all finally put a smile on Daphnes' face. The people of this forest had become his family over the years, and many of them saw Daphnes as a makeshift father-figure in this time of struggle and change. Though more often than not the kokiri would retell their stories of ages past. He particularly enjoyed Mido's tale of the first hero, and how he aided his best friend the hero through his trials. They would not be his destination for now though.

The Great Deku tree, a sentient goliath of an oak, was who he came to see. The canopy of it's branches could be seen throughout the withered forest, like a great beacon to the living as a last ray of hope. As Daphnes could see however, it was a beacon with no moral compass towards good or evil.

Upon the tree now he greeted it as an old friend. "Good morrow old friend. I've cleared the outskirts once more so we shouldn't see any trouble from the wild ones for today at least."

"The presense of evil is gone from my roots. You surprise me in your age Daphnes. Unfortunately I cannot let you rest. Though evil is gone, faces creep into the forest from many sides. Faces I have not seen since this darkness began. Go south and greet the guest off the coast, I will send kokiri to greet the others."

The urgency in the trees booming voice was not missed, but Daphnes could hear something that he had never before. He could not place it but the great tree's tone was different. Perhaps he would ask about it on his return, as the prospect of the new faces he spoke of was very interesting. With a bow instead of words, he left the clearing once more towards the coast, ready for anything, or anyone for that matter, that he might find in wait.

The forests in this time were nothing compared to their former glory. There was a time where every single leaf was the healthiest shade of green and every inch of tree bark looked as though the tree was just planted. Not that it mattered, Mercy knew nothing of those times. Nor did she care for those times. The only story, myth, or legend that mattered to her was what she was currently doing. For so long now it'd been the same deal; just fleeing. Ever since she'd lost her home and her people, it had always been the same thing day after day. She hated running away when she felt there were too many of them. A good day for her was to have the chance to kill off a patrol unit that may be looking for her, or looking for anyone for that matter. She didn't segregate when it came to the forces of Ganondorf. They were all the same hellish evil and they all deserved the same fate.

The forests proved to be the best terrain yet. In the plains she'd been spotted too easily and on any mountains she'd come across there were some clear signs of a hazardous trip up. Gunpowder had caused practical tremors on them, some paths were just over-killed with lapsed rocks. The last thing she'd want in a fight would be rocks and boulders all around her. There were even occasional buildings she'd passed that didn't belong to a city, but in the end she'd never approach them. The odds that the dark lord's minions were using those buildings were high, and although she was one to take her chances, she knew when it was a bad idea as well.

The long time of travel had clearly worn down on her, her once vibrant hair was now dirty from sweat, leaves, and obviously dirt. The forest had brought her some distant joy though, the cover of the trees was a great advantage when it came to fighting multiple enemies on her own. She was grateful for the opportunity to release some of the rage that was within her, though she noticed patrols lessened and lessened as she got deeper into the forest. She would have stopped, maybe looked for a place to rest, if she hadn't caught something with her eye, something in the distance that didn't match the color palette.

She saw green. Leaves that weren't old, brown, or withering. She wasn't sure how long she'd been wandering through here, but she was certain she was seeing things. Withering plants and destruction was the normal for her in life, and to think there could be an entire patch of land with green plants seemed foreign. Still, she couldn't help but approach, she had not a clue in her mind what was going to lie ahead.

Silent as a graveyard. That was all that was left here, this once proud forest now just a withered, decaying mass of organic material. Only death stalked these paths and dry streams. The northern edge of this place was just as desolate as her home. Her old home. Mental correction was tiring, not in the physical sense, but it brought home exactly how much had been lost. Twenty years could not dull that pain.

One armoured foot placed in front of the other in an interminable rhythm, Rajaala made her way towards the only refuge she suspected still existed in this place. She hadn't set foot there in at least fourteen years and had no reason to believe it still there. But something sent her forward, a hunch, one that she dismissed as morbid curiosity to know the fate of the Kokiri. The same morbid curiosity that caused her to poke a rock crab in her younger days. Like the memory, she didn't expect this venture to end well.

The path she travelled was tight and claustrophobic, flanked on both sides by crowds of dead trees. She imagined that if she climbed to the top of one she would see a sight more reminiscent of a thicket of spears rather than a forest. She could not think of a more apt metaphor for this place, brought low by war. The bare canopy did little to keep out any light, giving the area around her a flat appearance, lacking the depth one would expect of a forest. It also allowed her a mostly uninterrupted view of the land ahead. From where she was she could see that the forest steadily became browner, taking on more of an appearance of life than before, like trees in winter without their leaves, rather than the husks that currently ushered her on with whispers borne by the gentle breeze.

For a moment, Rajaala felt strange, as if someone was looking over her shoulder. Long experience had taught her to trust her instincts in times like this, even if they may be wrong. She broke into a jog, loping her way through the landscape, heart pounding. Eventually, she came to a clearing in the "wintery" part, and paused for a moment. There was nothing that she could see or hear. The silence was deafening. Perhaps there was nothing...

That train of thought last about as long as the silence. A series of bone-chilling howls echoed around her, followed by a massive weight crashing into her back. Rolling with the impact, she came face to face with a snarling nightmare. A Night-Wolf. Products of the same death that brought down this forest, they were evil things. And these ones were going to die.

Standing with as much haste as she could muster, Rajaala brought the haft of her halberd up into the wolf's chin, snapping it's head back with violent ease. It tumbled to the dirt, stunned. The thump of charging paws brought the halberd around, bringing the bladed head into contact with another, just behind the shoulder, leaving one of her enemies dead. A third leapt and was skewered, unknowingly trapping the implement of it's demise within itself.

Unable to wrench her weapon of choice free, Rajaala abandoned it, instead drawing her sword from it's harness. A fourth wolf circled her and at least three others were around, if her hearing still served.

"Come on then. Let's see you back to your lord's side."

Bi sat silently within the shade of the Great Deku tree, a gentle breeze touching her fair skin. The echo of her clan as they played within the confines of their home. Her eyes closed as she took in the silence, not far off she could hear the old man's footsteps. As he trudge along the rotted wood that surrounded their home, till he arrived before the Great Deku tree. Opening a eye for a moment as she peeked at the ground where he stood.

His clothes covered in splattered blood of the creatures, that laid outside their home. Mentally Bi cringed, she had never enjoyed fighting. But in some ways she envied the old Daphnes. He had no problem picking up sword and shield to protect the last bit of sunshine. Bi rolled to her back as the looked at the now upside down Daphnes.

A slight rumble wavered through the the Great Deku. In silence Bi watched as the Great Deku have him instructions to follow outside of their home. Her eyes narrowed, what was going on? Daphnes bowed and went on his way to follow Deku's request.

"Bi my child, please come face me"Deku requested. A heavy sigh escaped her pale lips, releasing her hold on the branch that she laid upon. Lightly landing on her feet before the Deku tree she knelt in respect. "Yes great Deku, what do you will of me?" She knew what he wanted but she could wish for otherwise.

"You are to head north and find our visitor "his tone warm, wrapping around Bi. A grim line covered her features but still she rose to her feet "as you wish great Deku". Quickly she made her way to the edge of the forest that was her home. Her pale gaze savoring over her village, taking a deep breath as she headed into the dark of the lost forest.

Tree to tree , Bush to bush her silent feet moved as she barely let her feet touch the ground. Trying to not make a sound or gain a creature's attention. Her heart beating rapidly within her chest as she moved, she could barely hear the silent footsteps of the wolves that stalked her home.

A unfamiliar step perked up her ears, turning here and there within the bush she came upon a Zora. Though it seemed to sense her the Zora's pace picked up. But it wasn't only Bi that had heard the Zora's steps. The Night-wolves had caught the scent as well. Quickly Bi was on the Zora's tail weary of the wolves that were in pursuit as well.

Bi watched in silence as they came to a small clearing, keeping to the outskirts hidden in the shadows. She watched as the Zora took wolves down one by one, losing it's weapon in the process. A signal wolf stalked her in front waiting for a moment of weakness. Releasing her slingshot from it's holster Bi aimed a Deku seed at the two remaining wolves heads. In silence she released her breath as her aim stilled on their target.

Release she thought as her nimble fingers released firing the seed at the wolves skull, it yelped and growled at the attack turning its attention to the shadows. Aim again, breath, release again it hit it's target, another wolf yelped in pain. Now both glaring eyes watched into the dark, running into the shadowed forest, another last yelp as they became entangled into Bi's wire. Bi sighed in relief as she took aim on the creatures again finishing them off.

Bi's pale eyes quickly turned to the Zora as she waited for it to finish off the remaining creature. Only then would she reveal herself to the Zora.

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”~Edgar Allan Poe

There was only so far that one could run, before life caught up with them. The same could be said for dreams or in this case…nightmares.

The smell. It always smelled down there. Perhaps it had to do with the dampness? Eyal never hated water or the sensation of being wet so much in his life as he did when he was down there. Deep into the darkness, in a pit where he was left alone for hours on end. Alone save for the rats that scurried and bit at his feet whenever they could. Time made no sense to him, there was no way to tell it and long ago he had come to stop trying. The most he could do was count away the time from when his last “visit” happened and when he could expect the next to occur.

Drip…drip…drip.

The water constantly dripped, day and night. When his “visit” would end, he would count the drops of water until the next visit. It was the closest thing to a schedule that he could ever hope for, a sorry excuse for a schedule to be sure. It was soon to be that time again and he was not sure if he could stand it again. Tired, hungry and just about broken, all he wanted was to sleep and be dry. To leave this place and be free from the pain, for the sweet taste of freedom.

However, it was not death that he sought. That would have been the easy way out, it would have been easy too for him just die. Though his body was broken and he was tired, he was not about to give up. Instead he held all of the anger in, kept all of his resentment and hate. There would come a time when he would get his chance at vengeance, he just had to wait.

LIGHT

Blinding bright light filled the void that was the pit he called home. His red eyes burned from the sudden invasion, the rats that had been nibbling at his feet scattered.

“Are you ready to share your secrets with us, Eyal?”

Try as he might he could never stop himself from trembling, could never stop the physical reaction he had whenever they entered. Because he knew what was to come, knew of the pain that he was about to suffer…

Arms placed on the small table, strapped down to it like the rest of him was to the chair. Out came the buckets, three in total. One had a ‘U’ shape placed into one side, the other held glowing goals, while the last held the squeaks of starved rats.

“Now…” the rats were brought first, placed on his arms and then covered by bucket with the ‘U’ in it. “Tell us…how do you manipulate the shadows?” the coals were placed on the bucket.

It was such a nasty trick, such a nasty plan. To trap the rats in the bucket atop his arms, then heat the bucket with coals. Rats, being the resourceful lot that they were, would start to tear and chew through whatever they could to get away from the heat. In this case, that meant his arms and hands. More and more they chewed and clawed at his hands. He struggled to get free, struggled to escape, all the while he heard the man demands for answers, demands for information.

“No!”

The light was sucked from the room, the coals on the bucket were extinguished and he found himself free…

Their screams were like music to his ears, their blood welcomed moisture in the already damp atmosphere. Several died that night and he did not even care. Now he would be a free man, now he would have his chance at vengeance. To get back at those who caused him to root in this hellish place.

Atop the stolen mount he pulled down the material that covered his mouth to gaze at a place he never thought he would see again. The forest was still as lush as it had been the last time he saw it. Tightness took over his chest, his lungs suddenly devoid of air he felt tears spring fresh to his eyes. These were the woods he had called home, where he and his family had been happy.

Long ago he had thought himself done with this, done with such pointless emotions and yet here he was crying. The sadness turned to anger, which turned to hate and would have turned to rage had the wind not shifted. With it came the familiar fragrance of the woods. It soothed the beast within and Eyal was soon on his way to the edge of the woods. The horse neighed and pawed at the ground, but a few soft words of encouragement he managed to guide the beast into the shaded canopy.

It was as if he stepped into another world; a special place, a private place, a sanctuary to all who sought refuge here.

Just as he remembered it to be.

Overhead, the birds chirped still though several trigs snapped and broke beneath his feet. The forest was dying, that much was true, but it still shown as a beacon of life. At one point he dismounted and left the horse to graze on its own, while he took to the branches and explored the trees. Most groaned under his weight, but he moved like the shadows that were his home; Silent and deadly.

After a moment he came to a spot where there were two people, one of which he recognized. It was a face he would never forget.

“Daphines…” the name came out in a hiss, it dripped with venom and hate.

The ground shook ever so slightly with the trembling steps of the massive hulk that was Zuberi. The world was no longer the same and it had taken a lot of convincing from the others for him to decide and leave the mountains in search of help. Upon his back he carried all the food he could manage, so he looked much like a huge turtle with a stone shell. The hammer rested on his shoulder, the nicks and cracks stained in the blood and gore of battle. No more could he and his people be peaceful, no more could they sit and wait for the world to go back to how it was.

No.

It was his job, as their leader to do what needed to be done in order to ensure the rest of them survived. In the distance a forest came into view. If he could recall correctly, this was the forest the Hero spoke of. Perhaps here he could find the answers he sought.

Off into the woods he lumbered often his passing caused the weaker trees to simply fall over. It was when he noted the rocks they kicked up that he stopped. Unable to pass up a good chance to add to his stock, he began to purposely knock over more of the trees. In search of the rocks that were clutched in their roots.

He heard the call and understood it, but go through with it was another thing entirely. Daphnes was the explorer here. The Kokiri needed to remain in what forest was left. It was Mido's job to protect them and leaving to say hello to someone most likely out to kill them was foolish at best. "Yes, Great Deku." He said half-heartedly. Leader of the Kokiri he may be, but still subordinate to their creator. He made his way into the forest with obvious agitation once out of site, and soon heard the struggle from within. 'Oh great. He sends me to my death. Just what I was hoping for'

Zuberi had found himself a nice seat on the ground, to sit and sift through the rocks that came when the tree was uprooted. His mind happily blank as he just enjoyed a moment of rest after such a long and tiresome trek across unfamiliar lands.

Finding the guest was no trouble for Mido. The trail left in its wake was like an open our in the earth. Trees uprooted as twigs and earth spread everywhere. Had this been fertile land he might be upset, but the trees here were far beyond saving. Further ahead Mido could see his target, and it did quite a bit to ease his mind. He recognized the creature. Goron, and a big fellow too, but a peaceful race as far as he remembered. "Ah Goron! Over here friend!" He waved from his place behind the rockman.

Slowly he chewed his rocks and slowly he turned his head toward the sound, though he did not see who had made it. With a sluggish shrug, he returned to his meal of rocks and hard earth; once again, his mind going back into the happy bliss that was his simple meal.

'Quite the stupid brute looks like' Mido thought. He walked towards the man quickly and stood to his side. "Hellooo, big guy? Anyone home?"

This time the sound was closer and he stopped his chewing to regard the small fellow. "Hmm..."He said, as small pebbles and bits of rock fell from his mouth down to the ground. "You...are...small..." his voice rumbled like so many rocks that tumbled down a hill.

"You are big. Now that we have that out of the way what are you doing here? The mountains are that a way." He gestured towards death mountain in the distance.

It was almost painfully slow how he moved, his head turning to look in the direction the small one gestured. "Rocks...gone. People starve...I leave to fight and save people..." he said in that same slow and measure pace that seemed to permeate all of his being.

"Fight? Well you're gonna want to talk to the great Deku for that. I'm pretty sure you're the one I was supposed to find anyway. I haven't seen one of you since the path in lost woods caved in. What was that...? The third age?" Mido continued rambling on to himself more than anything, lost in his own conversation.

"Aye..." he nodded his head. "...remember. I was...small when....hero lost..." he volunteered, slow though the information was given. "Tree...talk?" he asked already in the process of pushing his large form back up into a sitting position.

It took him a moment to register the Goron was moving finally. "Hmm? Well duh, of course he talks. If you'd hurry up we might get there before the clouds grow dark."

The rushed nature seemed to spark something in the Goron who snapped his head at the smaller man. "No need to be rude," his voice took on an annoyed edge as he hefted his massive hammer to his shoulder. Just as quickly that change came, it left and he returned to the slow and seemingly gentle soul. "You...lead...I...follow..."

The quick change caught Mido off guard and he fell backwards in surprise with a yelp. "Um, yeah ok sure I can do that. Can you ke-" He stopped himself with a gulp and leaped up from his prone position. "Um... follow me then."

There was nothing more to say, instead he merely nodded and followed after the smaller man toward this tree that he had spoken of. Perhaps the tree had tasty rocks under it that he could eat?

A dream…
”Chain her up” A voice came, dark, brooding and thick. It was Ganondorf. He stood in his ugly set of armor, his arms were crossed behind his back as she slowly paced back and forth. Dami had been slammed up against a pole, her arms fashion in a chain – tied to the tip of the tall pole. One of her sisters pulled at her chains, forcing her to stand.

“You are being punished for insubordination. You shall face 50 lashes and a week in the pit. I shall have you understand that you will follow orders that are given, nothing more, nothing less. You should also know that I am letting you go easy, only because I value you as one of my best men. Next time you will suffer greater consequences. Do you understand?” Ganondorf approached her. Dami’s back was facing him, her forehead pressing into the wooden pole. She shook her head up and down, no words came from her mouth.

“Speak!” He shouted and slammed his fist against the pole, his body dangerously close to hers. Dami grit her teeth and glanced to him. “I understand. Sir.” She turned her head away. Ganondorf scoffed and then stepped backward, he ripped the lash from a sister and held it back. With strength he brought the lash upon her back. Dami instantly tensed her fists and cried out loudly. This occurred several times, until her entire back was raw and bleeding. Then he tossed the lash to the ground. “I don’t care if they were children” she stepped forward and grasped her chains and unleashed her. “You will obey orders.” He then stepped away. Dami fell to the ground in a heap of exhaustion. Two gerudo sisters grasped her arms and pulled her to the huge stone building behind them…

Dami gasped for air, her chest was heaving. She had been sitting face first in a pile of dirt, dry and rough against her nose. She rolled over and gasped for air. Her clothing was still damp from the swim. Her hair was mattered with dirt and stunk of salt and sea. She stared upward to the trees above her. They looked to be drooping over, with hardly a leaf clinging to its limbs. She could hardly feel her muscles as they were tired and used. Dami glanced downward to see the beach, she managed to crawl just to edge of the forest. On the horizon was a speck, her ship that sailed away. There was no going back now. No safety of being in the troops. She was the hunter, and now she would be the hunted. She rolled over to her side and brought her knees into her chest, her arms wrapping around them as she sighed softly. All she could do now is fight…that was her only option. She knew they would find her, she knew how well they hunted their targets down. Of course she would know, Dami was the best at it.

Interrupting her chain of thoughts was a rustling sound. Slowly she turned her head, her fingers moving to the sword on her side. Her vision was blurry at first, but then slowly a figure approached. It was an older man, a white beard, who looked a lot like the old hero. She tilted her head, was it him? It was preached that the hero had failed, had died. But who was this before her? “H-hello?” She muttered, her voice cracked and crumbled in her throat, waterlogged and beaten. She slowly stood, her knees wobbling, she took a step forward but then stumbled and collapsed onto the ground. Dami’s palms caught her, locking before her, she gazed into the dirt as she sat on all fours. She then began to cough violently, her eyes filled with tears, and then she suddenly grew silent. One arm brushed away at her eyes, and then she glanced up – her pointy nose directed her gaze to the man. “Don’t stare at me like that…”

Again he made his way out of the little paradise into the dry withered brush. Blood still thick on his clothes, he certainly wouldn't look too welcoming to any guests he might find. Though in these times the quality of a greeting was weighed on whether or not battle was a first thought.

It had been many weeks since there had been trouble along the coast, and it was a bit of a walk to get there as well, though the brush was thinner the closer one got to the sea. As for the guest, Daphnes had some guesses on who to expect. They had to be friendly else the Tree would have warned about that. If it's near the sea maybe a lost zora trive in the ocean? or maybe a hylian fisher, gone too far and stranded. Both would be quite surprised to see the little resistance that had formed in secret he was sure.

He pushed branch after branch aside until the way was clear, and a figure lay prone on the ground. Dark brown, reddish hair, tanned skin. His sword arm instinctively went for the blade. 'Gerudo...' Daphnes unsheathed his sword slowly and pointed it towards the girl, never taking his eyes off her. "Gerudo, how did you come to these woods. Where is your master?"

Dami stared up to the man that spoke before her. She bit her lip and gave a grin through her pain “I am slave to no one” she spat and then glanced to the water “The boat is long gone..”. With a lot of effort she effort she forced herself to stand, only to suddenly stumble back - her balance thrown off. She grasped a near by tree that threatened to break before her grasp. “Your option to kill me is now.” She spoke as her cheek brushed against the dead tree.

"I hold that option to any who walk within this forest." He spoke calmly, gaze never wavering from his quarry. He took step after cautious step forward, wary of the Gerudo, and her possible tricks. What stopped him from taking her life here was simply the reason he found her in the first place. The Deku Tree does not make mistakes. "You're alone and far from home desert child. What do you call yourself and why are you here?"

She stared to him for a long moment before finally she relaxed. She shut her eyes and released a deep breath. "My name is Dami" she let go of the tree and slowly made her way towards him, her balance regained. "We were sailing by, I jumped ship and ran. So... I am here because... I am running." she spoke bluntly. "And who are you, and why are you here, then?"

"That is not your concern. If what you say is true you'll find out in time." Daphnes withdrew a length of rope and approached the girl with sword still drawn. "Turn. You can come with me bound, and have my protection, or you can stay here and let the wildlife decide your fate. It is your choice."

"What? Really? You ask me all these questions. What if I can't trust you either?" She fussed and then grit her teeth as he approached. Oh if she had the strength she'd kick this man in the shin. "Not even a name? Okay. I see how it is" she lifted her head, her pointy nose directing to the tree tops. However he was right, she would be taken by the wilderness. Slowly she turned around, placing her arms behind her back - allowing him to bind her...

"These woods are a home and you're intruding. Be grateful I didn't gut you where you stood. Were it not for 'his' bidding, I would have." Daphnes said somewhat irritated now. He bound the girl, probably tighter than necessary, and guided her through the forest by the edge of his sword. "Slowly now Gerudo. don't need to be attracting much attention on the way."

"Hmph" Dami grunted as she spoke, binding her. "Yeah... Can do." she grunted as she stepped forward. Her muscles fought against her, but the blade forced her to continue. She held her head downward, hiding her appearance from any that would glance.

Daphnes noticed the switch, and did not fuss over it. In fact he agreed. The sight of an enemy among the kokiri would panic them undoubtedly until the Great Tree could explain himself. She did as told surprisingly enough, and soon the two of them were back in the vibrant green of his sanctuary. He continued walking her without stopping towards the Tree, until finally they stood beneath his canopy, Daphnes sheathing his blade and approaching forward with a hand below her neck on her shoulders, pushing forward with him.

"So old one, Is this the guest you spoke of?"

The branches overhead shifted, and the trunk creaked and groaned as the mouth of the tree began to move. "Indeed it is. She has stolen herself from the dark lord. A free mind."

"Are you certain? No one has ever done that before, We thought his power over them was absolute." Daphnes exclaimed, now ignoring the Gerudo's reaction.

"It seems we were wrong. I sense no evil in this child of sand." The tree seemed to bend and creak downward, putting its tremendous gaze over Dami, dwarfing her under its might. "You have commited a great many crimes in the name of the dark lord Ganondorf child." The mere speaking of his name sent a ripple of wind through the forest, as if every leaf and branch felt the power behind the name. "None thankfully, were your doing. But their blood is upon your hands and the stain will remain. What is it you plan to do with this life now that your mind is your own I wonder?" His gaze remained hovered over the girl, waiting for the answer.

“I am not his any longer!” She shouted in a high pitched voice, she clasped her fists tightly and glared to the giant tree. Then she gave a sigh, her pointy noise directing downward to the ground. “You’re right…” she huffed slightly and then glanced up. “I… I just want to make things right.” She whispered.

The mighty tree rumbled in thought, the wind rustling its branches deep into its canopy. "You hold much anger child, but even more sorrow." he waited patiently and once she whispered, his rumbling voice was heard once more. "To admit you have wronged is a noble trait. To seek to right those wrongs through action, that is what seperates the light from dark. I wonder, can you face your past and see all that is for its truth?"

Dami glanced to the tree. Whatever this being was… he was so inspiring. She lifted her head and then gave a slight smile. “My past is what will guide me to the truth. I can never ignore it…it has to become my fuel to better myself…” she paused and then tilted her head “..right?”

"You still hold much doubt child." The tree rumbled and righted its trunk straight once more. "You must put that doubt aside, trust your heart in these dark times as the only light you will find is within. If you wish to redeem yourself from your black past, remain in my wood under Daphnes' eyes. He will guide you. Heed his advice and wisdom, for your futures are intertwined with each other, and more on their way."

Dami glanced to Daphnes, and then she bowed her head to him. “And so I shall..” she whispered and then backed up from the tree. This tree of wisdom was the only life in nature that she had seen in a long while. The rivers were running dry, the sea seemed empty, the wilderness seemed to gasp for life. She wondered just how ancient this tree was… and perhaps if it had anything to do with the Hero of old times. The times of glory and peace. She wondered then if her people had peace too… all she knew is her pointy nosed sisters were all captive of Ganondorf. One might think.. someone of the same race might treat his women finer.. but no.. Ganondorf was evil and corrupt. She would have never seen it.. if her mother had never touched her cheek.

Light from within… that was true. She had felt that light when seeing her mother. It made her feel free, alive, and some sort of happy. The more she swore herself from Ganondorf the more she felt that freedom again. While his dark grasp tried to reach for her, each hint of life, each whisper of freedom kept her strong from his hold. She looked to Daphne and approached him “My swords are yours, then. If I should never wield them again, I accept, or if I fight in your honor.. I accept” she bowed her head and then glanced to him. “I… fear Ganondorf’s power still remains in me, trying to grasp at my soul… to control me again. I plead.. if I show signs of his presence.. do not hold mercy upon me.”

She then backed up and sat down in the pad of grass near the tree. Her fingertips slipped between the blades of grass, touching and embracing the soft grass. Never was she able to sit and enjoy the small things, as little as they were. Dami’s hands moved over the grass, just above its height, until she came across a small dandelion. She rubbed one of the petals with her thumb and smiled, the yellow of the follow seemed to shine brightly like the sun. She brought her knees to her chest and placed her chin upon them. They seemed to be waiting for someone, the tree spoke of others...

Mercy squinted her eyes at the green in the distance. She was almost certain it was foliage. It was like finding a nugget of silver in a mountain of rocks. Except you could find silver anywhere underground. Green, living, fresh foliage though was a whole different story. She'd seen the occasional green plant growing up, but those were in pots, given care their entire lives. For people like mercy, it wasn't normal to see healthy forests and to be upset when there were dead plants somewhere. It was an everyday occurrence to see an abundance of dead trees. Those with leaves didn't carry green leaves anymore, they carried a shade of brown or orange that was clearly sickly. She didn't know anything else, and to see this grand beacon of life but a smile on her face, but only before it was abruptly interrupted by the sound of a twig snapping behind her.

As if by instinct, Mercy's sword was unsheathed and her head darted in the direction of the twig. It could have been a rat, for all she knew, but in this world you had to always be ready. If you weren't, you'd be dead or worse. To her surprise, her sword pointed at what couldn't have been a child a day older than twelve years old. There was plenty off when it came to the kid. People she had known or seen didn't look healthy, let alone clean like this child did. He looked like he bathed every day perhaps, and Mercy was convinced only servants of Ganondorf had that privilege. His clothing was untouched for the most part, and he was just a young kid, much younger than Mercy was when she had to start running. She didn't know for sure if he worked for Ganondorf, but two things were certain. She didn't want to be risky on this one and this child clearly wasn't on the run.

"Hy-Hylian!" The child exclaimed to her. There was a strange mix of excitement and fear in the Kokiri's voice. The sword that was now close to him was likely the cause of the fear, but Mercy wasn't going to take chances on this one, she inched even closer without speaking. "I-I was sent out here to come find you! I didn't think you'd be so close! You need to-" The boy spoke, Mercy prepared to scold.

"Who sent you?" She asked, clearly not pleased, but also not willing to yell in a place where death could be found so easily. For the most part, she expected the boy to say Ganondorf's army. It'd be odd if they were sending children, but in the moment she didn't question it. Normally she'd be pleased to have a reason to kill anyone supporting the dark lord, but this was just a kid. She didn't want to have to do anything.

"The Great Deku Tree." The boy responded, suddenly much more full of conviction than he previously was. "He wishes your audience. It's an honor to speak with such wisdom. You should be honored." The boy said, suddenly the sword not even seeming a threat to him. But Mercy knew better. Not that she wanted to go through with any of this.

"I hate to ruin your dreams, but the tree is nothing more than a myth." Mercy said, but was immediately cut off afterwards before she could speak again.

"Don't you dare speak about the Great Deku Tree!" The Kokiri scolded at her.

"If you weren't so young, you'd be dead by now." Mercy warned, angrily.

"I'm a Kokirian, I'm older than you could trace your ancestral line by far!" The kokiri said, clearly not happy with the events that had taken place.

The idea that the Kokiri existed wasn't that crazy. Mercy had experienced magic first hand herself. She simply choose to ignore all of these tales for the principle that they didn't matter. "Okay, fine." Mercy said, with doubt in her mind. Maybe there was an explanation for the green foliage. But she didn't like it still. She'd done nothing worthy of speaking with a divine tree, and using kids to lure people would be a genius strategy. But the dark lord was no fool, if he was using children to lure fighters out, he'd use children as young as they came, dirty, bloody, helpless. Not clean and full of fighting spirit. "Where is this Deku Tree?" She asked skeptically.

"The remains of the Kokiri Forest are that way." He pointed towards the foliage, where she was hoping and assumed he would. There was some credibility now. Even still, she couldn't help but shake the instinct it was a trap. If it was, she'd fight her way out if she had to. "Consider your faults forgiven if the Great Deku wants to talk to you, you must be important in some way."

"I wouldn't call them faults." Mercy growled back. But she managed to keep her temper under control for the moment. "Fine, you lead the way, Kokirian." She said, giving into the belief for now. In truth, she wanted to step into the green foliage. It seemed like an entire different existence. It seemed like what life should be.

She stayed alert, but it continued to be harder and harder as they walked deeper into the green forest. Things seemed to be more alive. There was less danger lingering in the air. Other kokiri were wander around their homes, most giving looks to Mercy. Could it be true? Was the Great Deku Tree a reality? And did it really want to see her? What had she done? She was nearly overwhelmed with this sense of life and this sense of anxiousness. Could it have been possible that things were like this all the time? And at the same time, she wasn't looking forward to the honor of speaking to the tree. What if she'd done evil?

"The Great Deku Tree is located in that direction, if you just take the path, I'm sure you'll find it. And please, don't meet him like you met me, show him respect!" The child, or, what she now believe was actually a Kokirian, spoke a lot more light hearted than he had before. Maybe he'd forgiven her, or maybe he was just happy to be back home.

"I got it... uh, thanks. I appreciate it." Mercy said. She was speechless for the most part. Still aware, in case it was all a trap. It felt bittersweet in a way for her. To see life all around her for the first time ever, but to still be ready to fight death in case it was lurking, just waiting for her. She walked a path, her feelings becoming mixed of the current situation. But she put on her brave face, she'd always held the weight of the world before when she had to. She'd do it again now.

It wasn't for a few moments that she noticed it. The Tree. It was alive. It was in the presence of two others, a man and a woman. She wanted to let out a gasp, but she didn't. She let her footsteps take on a normal volume as she approached. Socially speaking, she didn't know how to make herself known to the two, or three if you counted the tree. How had the dark lord ignored this for so long, she wondered.

------

Mercy walked forward with great uncertainty. Surely there wasn't any chance that this was a trap anymore. It would be a massive waste of resources to make such a tree believable. She'd have been in binds by now if this was the doing of dark forces, she knew that for sure. "Hello." She said, firm in her tone as to not be seen as inferior. She didn't know these people, but she did know it was in her best interests to make herself useful at this point.

Daphnes, surging with a newfound hope, heard another new voice. It was so unsure but definitely feminine, and as he turned his hope grew further. A hylian, one of his own. She looked so young and frail, but her eyes hardened and fierce. Her garb spoke of what she had been through and he imagined it was nothing pleasant. He stood staring for longer than one would think appropriate, but the great tree corrected that. "Welcome child." He said simply, and awaited her reply. Daphnes dared not speak in his place, so he waited.

There was a part of her with a burning fire that told her to question why she was brought here, to ask what this all meant. But given the circumstances, what was happening was profound, it was important. Overall, it meant there was something out there that wasn't gone yet. Here she had audience with something she couldn't even begin to understand. She decided to follow the advice she was given and show the Great Tree some respect. "Thank you, Great Deku Tree." She said, almost numbly. She didn't know the first thing about giving respect to higher ranks, never mind higher beings. She noticed the older man and the other woman. Why were they here, she wondred. "A Kokirian sent me here." She said, trying to maintain respect. She wasn't sure how to ask for an explanation but remain kind. So she simply waited instead. Surely it was best to not ramble to a divine being.

"One sent for you, and a few others as well. They will come in short order." The tree's visage moved to Daphnes now. "My friend, see to our new arrival. I will make sure the child of sand remains near." Daphnes nodded quickly, but his gaze remained on her. The Deku tree turned back to the hylian girl and responded. "Forgive the quick introduction but time is a luxury for us all now. Daphnes before you will make sure any questions you have are answered. You would do well to heed his wisdom."

"Yes, Great Deku Tree." He obeyed, though hesitated in the process. It was obvious that things were complicated, but Mercy couldn't wrap her head around it. The Tree had said to listen to the wisdom of this man. Mercy shot him a look, people and her didn't always get along, but in this case she hoped it might be different. She didn't have an impression of him. But he was worn and carried a lot more gear than was healthy for anyone, nevermind someone his age. "Daphnes." She repeated. "My name is Mercy. What is all this? This place, and why I'm here, what does it mean?"

He walked towards the girl, finally a bearing on his senses. Surely this woman before him would be far more confused than he was at this moment. "You are in the last bastion of light. Why you are here though, I can't tell you. No one sent for you and yet you found your way. Perhaps fate still exists but I'll see it as luck myself." He bid her follow him to the edge of the clearing, where stood two large stumps, untouched by time as their wood still looked healthy.

She followed without a second thought. "Why is it here?" She asked, nearly on an instinct. "I mean, I get it, the forest is magical. But the dark lord isn't exactly at a loss for available man power. What's keeping him out? Seclusion? Magic?" It surely wasn't manpower, she decided. Age didn't matter when it came to the kokiri. There were only so many of them, and they weren't large enough to partake in defensive combat. "It's so green. It's so... bizzare." She admitted. "What happens now? What's the plan?"

Daphnes couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of what was happening. "You ask many questions with so many more about yourself unanswered." He kept his laughter in check however, knowing she might take offense. He decided to answer her biggest question first at the least. "The woods you are in now are magical yes, but magic is no stranger to the dark lord, no. Have you ever heard of the old stories? The lost woods? The magic within these sacred woods weaken him, sap his strength. He dares not set foot near the great tree, but he doesn't need to. You've seen the forest around us. It slowly withers and it too will soon be gone, the final victory for him."

"It's, well, complicated." She admitted. "I'm not sure what good my answers would do, but if you think there's anything you need to know, I guess I owe you." She said, The vibe of the forest was one that made her a lot more willing to cooperate. "I've heard some tales, I usually consider them myths or fairytales." She admitted, but if the Deku Tree was real, it changed the playing field of her beliefs. "But he can't win." Mercy stated as though it was a fact. "People would always stand up to the occasion. Like now. Aren't you going to stop him?" She asked, as though it was their responsibility.

"You are very eager to throw your lot into a war child." he said sagely, perhaps a bit too condescending. It had been a long time since he had spoken to anyone beside the tree who acted older than 16. "You have fire within." He stood, and adjusted his gear on his hip. "That much is certain. And i'm sure you have been through much sorrow. Can you see past that I wonder?" He drew his sword and spun the broad blade once, twice, and a third time deftly in his hand, the shield following suit, comfortable as always in his grip. "I see your sword, well used and a tad dull. You have been through many battles. Lets have some fun eh?" a wry smile teased his weathered lips.

"This whole world is just one big war. It's either fight, die, or be a slave." She muttered. He pulled his blade out and she was dumbfounded for just a moment before she regained her wits. "I don't-" She stopped herself from denying it and drew her blade with both hands. With that shield, he certainly held a defenseive advantage in a fight. "Fine." She said dryly, but with more confidence than she should have had. She removed her sword from the sheath on her side and held it in both hands. It didn't even have a length advantage his his, but she'd gotten this far, she decided. Her gut told her not to go with her usual strategy, but she didn't listen and when for the first strike anyway, putting weight and energy into the blow.

The strike was met with a firm shield, and did not give more than an inch, the clang heard throughout the forest. many kokiri heard and gathered in the trees nearby to watch their protector and this newfound hylian fight. To them, it was quite a blast from the past. Daphnes put much strength into his shield arm, and shoved hard against her sword arm, giving him more distance. "You're quick, I'll give you that much. But reckless." He slowly circled around her, waiting for the next strike.

Mercy simply had no formal training when it came to battle. Everything she learned she had learned herself, she depended deeply on reflex and ending fights fast. The only times she'd ever found herself fighting using defense was if there were enemies on multiple sides of her. Whenever a single enemy or enemies in a line were present, offense had always worked for her. She was considerably lucky she hadn't face worthy opponents such as Daphnes, as she only let out a grunt and took the bait, going in for another direct strike relying on strength over strategy.

Daphnes countered with the sword this time, deflecting the edge of hers to the side and following it with a kick to her back as she passed with the blow. "You fight with a wildness, you're a runner. You rely on offense, so those you've fought have never been ones for strategy." He didn't wait this time, and stepped towards her into swords reach, swinging the flat of the blade for her thigh.

She only let out a grunt at the kick, it was more of the surprise than the pain. After all the cuts and bruises she'd seen, a kick not even meant to harm her was like nothing. She quickly gained her composure again, almost in time to prove him wrong, at least that's how she'd pictured it would look, if she had dodged the blade in time. She didn't. She fell to the ground, her sword still in reach. "The whole world is like the wilderness, Daphnes! How do you expect anyone to fight besides for wildly?" She said angrily, perhaps because she was offended, or perhaps because her fight was so poor. She took her sword and pushed herself up once again, though she wasn't going to strike again. She'd lost at this point. And even he wanted to continue, she'd accepted that she wasn't going to get the jump on him.

"To defy him." he simply stated, and walked forward. "He has turned the once great land of Hyrule into his own shadowed land, and he expects us to act as animals." his sword being sheathed and his shield as well. He offered a hand to the girl to help her up. "We fight the wild, and the darkness Mercy. We don't have to become it."

He had a point, part of her was willing to acknowledge that. Told her to ask him to teach her. She could be a much more effective fighter with knowledge and strategy. Yet, before she thought about it, she ignored his hand. She was able to convince herself it was because she was humiliated. But none of the kokiri showed anything but respect still. "It's not about what we become. It's about what the world becomes." She said, though she wasn't sure why, it was a rash set of words only used so she had a counter point.

"The world will only become what we make it." He retracted his hand with no reluctance, almost as if he expected it. "We have only ourselves to guide us to the future Mercy, should there even be one for us." He once again sat on the un-weathered stump and reclined back slightly as he gazed towards the sun, breaking through the clouds for a breif moment. It's light graced the stump and the murmer of nostalgia could be fealt among the kokiri. "Did you know the hero once called this stump home? Long long ago. Ah but I shouldn't ramble. The others should be here shortly if the great tree is correct. Eat and relax for now. I can't say what the future might hold for us."

Her attention both focused and yet not on the foe in front of her and on the small clearing that made their current battleground, Rajaala noted at the edge of hearing that something behind her was moving. Likely the remaining wolves, but they held their distance for now, yelping and running to and fro. At least, that was what she presumed they were doing. She daren't turn to look.

A few tense moments passed, the large manifestation of evil circling her with intent to kill. It's eyes flicked past her to something unseen, only for a moment, but it was enough. With a wordless shout, Rajaala dashed forward, blade raised to strike. The Night Wolf reacted on instinct and leapt to seize her by the throat, a lethal action had she not foreseen it's occurrence. Dropping to one knee, she swung her sword forward and met the creature in it's soft underbelly, drawing a wash of blood and viscera as it's own momentum killed it. Turning to face the remainder of her foes, slathered in the gore of her last, Rajaala was surprised to see... nothing. The others had run, it seemed. Not the most reassuring thing in the world.

Bi watched from the shadows the Zora covered in the Night Wolf's blood. Her eyes narrowing on the creature. Silence filled the dead wood, as Bi walked from the shadows of the forest. "Welcome Zora. You presence has been requested by the Great Deku tree." She said her features tight her gaze scanning the small field of dead grass.

"And I find it best that we move quicker, less you lose another weapon". Bi motioned to the edge of the field, a hand motioning to the Zora to follow. With that Bi moved on quick feet, but slow enough for the Zora to follow closely.

Rajaala whirled at the new presence... And was stopped dead by her own amazement. A child it seemed, but her eyes did not deceive her in locating the signs of the Kokiri. But something seemed off, like this one wasn't as young seeming as she should be. Her size was jarring, at least half a foot of height where there should not be height, at least not for one such as her. A few moments followed as her stunned silence continued, the small being rattling off a line about the Great Deku and then following that with a comment about lost weapons. That snapped her clear.

"Lost weapons? It's not lost..." But the Kokiri had already hurried off into the woods, only half visible between the trunks of dying flora.

"...It's just stuck in it's ribs." She muttered to herself. Sheathing her sword she strode to the wolf that had trapped her halberd's blade, grabbed the shaft and heaved, tearing the weapon out the beast's chest with a meaty crack. Turning, the Zora loped her way after the Kokiri, catching her quickly.

"You said something of the Great Deku, madam. Why does that old thing want to speak with me again? It has been some time since my last venture here and we did not part on the best of terms."

Bi turned to the Zora, as her eyes began to take in the creature again. Her pale eyes narrowing, "I'm not entirely sure, but you are not the only guest". Bi let out a frustrated sigh "Somethings happening. But I have no answers for you". Her pale gaze moving back to the brush before her. The edge of the village would be further up ahead.

"What was your last visit about? I don't recall your face?" Bi's words filled with obvious curiosity. As the faintest hints of greenery laid under her feet.

Yet again, she was confronted by a lack of information. Not even the one sent to find her knew why the Deku had asked for her presence. The only thing she did know for certain now, was that she was not the only one called. Coincidence? Where the Great Deku was involved, she thought not.

As the unlikely pair moved further onwards, the impending greenery stirred memories of times past, when things were better. Unlike now. The childling's question was nearly lost in the haze of regret.

"My last visit? What is everyone talking of these days? Ganondorf. I spent the majority of my time arguing with the Deku. Eventually I lost patience, I said some harsh things and I have not returned since." Because I left to find someone, but only lost myself. Maybe the Deku was right? The morbid turn of her thoughts was unconcealed, clearly evident on her face.

"Might I ask your name, madam? It would be rude of me not to, I seem to recall."

Bi's expression changed slightly as she took in the words. Her head nodding gently, her expression only softening for a moment. Another sigh filled the space between them as Bi's head hung low for a brief moment of silence, as she was clearly caught up in her own thoughts. But was clearly keeping it to herself.

The Zora's voice breaking Bi from her silence, an expression of surprise on her pale features. A hint of a smile touched the edges of her lips as her gaze moved back to the path. "So nice to know you have manners. And some sword skill" she replied back her tone clearly teasing. "And it's Bi. My name that is, and what do they call you?" She asked offering a brief smile. The sound of the bustling Kokiri laid just beyond a wall of green trees and bushes.

The childling's teasing mien was endearing, to the right person. As it was it only served to draw an irritated frown from the Zora, wrinkling her forehead in exasperation. She had forgotten how banal most creatures of light were when it came to conversation. Or maybe that was simply her war-weary soul talking. Either way it didn't matter. She still had some good manners to display.

"'They' call me the Last Zora." The harsh inflection on the word 'they' left no doubt to whom she was referring, the bastardised minions of Ganondorf.

"I call myself Rajaala." Only now looking at the greenery that surrounded them with any true attention, Rajaala noted the light sounds of conversation and laughter coming from ahead, signs of habitation by supposedly friendly people. The unlikely pair advanced, deeper into the small patch of life that surround their destination.

Finally, she saw it. The Great Deku. Nestled exactly as she remembered it, in a small clearing, casting it's shadow over the greenery it protected. The Zora stopped dead, held in place by memories of a time long past.

Bi could hear the undertone in the Zora's words. She had not meant to put salt in a wound, but there it was. "Rajaala it is then" she responded ignoring the tone. All of Hyrule had paid a price for the evil that now infected the land and all its people. The rustling beside her stopped and Bi's eyes followed suit. The Zora had stopped clearly lost in thought.

Bi couldn't help the relief that filled upon seeing Deku tree and her kin. "Well don't get all meek now, go he's expecting you" she said as she moved behind the Zora pushing towards the tree. Just as quickly she moved herself a distance from the Zora beside a tree. "When your done catching up, maybe I'll come say 'hi'. Take care Rajaala"she said before slinking behind a tree and moving on further into her home.

The childling had disappeared again, as suddenly as she had arrived, heading off into the depths of her home. To her Zoran eyes, the place seemed a little washed out, a shade of its former glory. Or perhaps that was simply the dust from the road.

The clearing commanded her attention again, the massive sentient tree her main point of focus. In the periphery of her vision she noted a single female, seemingly a Gerudo female, sat in the grass. Rajaala stared, her lip twitching into the ghost of a snarl, reflexes honed in battle urging her to draw steel and kill her. Only by some titanic effort of will or divine intervention was she able to withhold her rage at the mere sight of the ****ing.

Putting her out of mind for now she turned back to the tree, the Great Deku itself.

"It seems like you have managed to call me to you again, O Great Deku." Her tone was mocking, tinged with an edge of self-deprecating scolding. An ancient sigh sounded forth in response.

"Rajaala I am pleased to see you well. Call you? If I had the power in me to do so I'd have done it long ago, nor would I have allowed the ones you've dealt with to remain in my wood. No I am merely providing what might be one last chance."

"One last chance? How will that make a difference? How will this be any different from all the other 'last chances' we've tried over the years? That means nothing. Why am I here?"

"I will explain in time, young one. There is still one more in the shadows that must come, and it will be soon, knowing him. Rest for now." Still irritated but ready to rest either way, the Zora acquiesced quickly, much faster than expected. Off to the side, her back settled against a lesser tree where she could watch the Gerudo female, she waited for whatever the Deku felt she should. With an appropriate level of sneering to accompany it.

Eyal, was nearly lost in the rage that swept through him. His gaze solely focused on the man below him and not even taking into account anything else. Over and over again, the dying wails of his mother as she was gutted screamed in his head. The sight as she fell, her eyes lifeless and cold…absent of the familiar warmth that he had known his whole life.

Without even being full aware, his hands had begun to move and it was the heat that radiated from his hand that drew his attention. A fireball rippled and flickered in his hand like a ball of liquid light. The flames reflected within the depths of his eyes and seemed to be the final spark in the kindling of rage that had continued to grow with each passing moment that Daphnes was alive in his presence.

“DIE!” he shouted and threw the fireball, already halfway into a shadow to disappear as another fireball was conjured and at the ready.

The shout, clearly heard through the forest caught everyone’s attention, and no sooner did Daphnes turn to find its source did he see the fireball hurtling towards him. Had he been anywhere else he would have dodged and searched for the assailant, but this stump had remained as a legacy to the hero and he would not have it harmed. He readied the shield as fast as he could and braced himself behind it just as it struck. The shield splintered and burned everywhere but the metal handhold that Daphnes currently held, but the man stood firm, and with danger out of the way he ran to a more open clearing search for the assailant.

"Everyone get to cover!" He shouted in haste, the kokiri doing as told without question. "He did not look to see if the visitors had done so, nor did he care. The protection of his charges was what mattered right now. "Show yourself demon! Darkness will not be your ally in this meadow of light!"

Eyal laughed and threw his next fireball, before he jumped from the shadows and into the clearing his daggers drawn. “Demon?! You are the only demon here!” he shouted and charged his foe. Low and fast, he sought to get around the man and his shield, a dagger thrown at his foot before he tumbled around him and conjured another fireball to try and throw at his back.

Having time to dodge this time, Daphnes did just that and rolled as the next fireball came his way. What was in his view now however, caused the blood in his veins to turn ice. "Eyal, you're alive?" He said shocked. The dagger nearly missing his foot brought him out of his stupor just in time to roll to the side as the next fireball missed into the distend dead wood. He hoped it was too damp for a fire to start in the thicket. "What has he done to you?!" Daphnes shouted in growing anger. "I thought you dead years ago, but is this what he did to you? Raise you to come against us where he could not?! Don't you remember what we were fighting for?!" He shouted louder and louder as he continued, but never moved to strike or harm. Eyal was a friend, no matter what may have become of his mind at the hands of the dark lord.

Dagger recovered he threw both of them together then began hurling fireballs one after another at Daphnes, not even fully hearing what was said to him. “What he did?! You killed my parents!” he shouted and charged. At the last moment he jumped and flipped over Daphnes then through a jab for his kidneys and a kick at the side of his knee.

Blocking the daggers with what was left of his shield and running out of the way of the fireballs, Daphnes did everything he could to keep himself out of the line between Eyal and the kokiri. As soon as Eyal cried out and charged, Daphnes prepared himself as best he could. Following the sheika through the air, he held his shield arm out to block the coming jab, but with no weapon drawn, just his bare arm was there waiting for the kick. The force knocked him down, and he tried rolling with it, but his age was getting the better of him, and he stumbled. "I tried to save you Eyal! And I would have ran after you until my legs gave out had your father not stopped me! He lived and convinced me you dead! We both morned you AND your mother!"

“LIAR!” he screamed and brought forth a ring of fire to encircle the both of them. Tears ran down his face as he glared down at the man at his feet, pair of fireballs in his hands waiting to be thrown. “I watched him die…just like I had to watch my mother die…and it was all your FAULT!”

"I don't lie Eyal. Since the years you knew me as friend and since the day I thought you dead, I have kept my promises." Daphnes threw his shield to the ground in a cluttered heap, its use to him now gone. "Your father lived another 20 years. He taught me what he could and we mourned you every day. His grave, as well as yours and your mothers are in the sacred grove of legend." Daphnes's arm hung loose at his side. The kick had dislocated it and he knew he wouldn't stand further in the fight. "What has the dark lord done to you? You come into this home I have sworn to protect in your families place with fire and threats. Attacking straight from the shadows. You fight like them Eyal."

None of this was true, it could not be true. Why would his father say he was dead? A look down at the man he had dreamt of killing everyday he was held captive and then toward the sacred grove. “If you are lying to me I will burn you and these woods to the ground!” he hissed between his teeth. He dropped his hands, dispelling the fire in his hands as well as the ring of fire. From there he ran back to the woods, into the Shadows which he traveled until he stood within the scared grove and before a set of gravestones that bore a heavy truth.

There was his name…on a stone between that of his mother and father. “But…why…” he whispered as he fell to his knees before his tombstone, “Why would he lie?”

Nothing made sense to him anymore, nothing at all. Everything he had thought and felt; everything that had kept him alive through all those years of pain was all…a life…

Seeing the flame die, Daphnes looked towards the kokiri, seeing they were all fine, and then to the great tree who witnessed the whole events take place without a single word. Daphnes needed none. He nodded, and made way towards the sacred grove himself.

It took him some time more than the sheika to get there, but eventually he broke through the grave site he remembered well. "I came often to pay respects to friends lost. I kept my word Eyal. I've spent my life protecting what's left of these wood."

“Daphnes…I’m…sorry…” he whispered as he touched the stone before him. “I did not know…” his voice broke with the unspoken emotion as his vision blurred with the unshed tears. This was almost too much to handle, to take in thinking that his own father had left him to rot in prison for all those years. If this was the truth, then what was he to do now?

Daphnes walked slowly and put the hand of his good arm on his friends shoulder. "So am I. Had I known you were still among us I'd have come for you myself. Perhaps he knew. Knew you'd make it out. We can't determine that, but we can press forward nonetheless old friend."

“I was going to kill you…” he said softly. “I was going to kill you and burn this place to the ground. I was just so…angry…” he managed to choke back a sob. “Please…I must restore my honor…how can I make up for the pain I have caused you?”

A large smile spread across the old man's lips. "I haven't heard someone speak of honor in over 20 years. The darkness corrupted your mind. You are not to blame. If you must apologize do so with the kokiri. You may have spooked them quite a bit. Me? I've had worse." With a grunt Daphnes set his arm back in place, though a grimace replaced his smile.

Lost in his own thoughts, though slow they may have been, Zuberi follow the smaller man at his own pace. It was the outcry that went up from his traveling companion that drew him from his thoughts. “Fire…must…be…bad…for the….wood…” the giant from the mountains said to himself before he walked over to the clearing. More of the small people ran about as two combatants squared off.

“Hmmmm…” he said softly. “The….one…..in….green. I…I…know…him…” he said, the great hammer that he carried was allowed to slip from his shoulder to crash to the ground. “He…should be dead…” he said in disbelief. When the fires were controlled and the fight seemed to end, the giant hefted his hammer once more and approached the pair.

“Hero…you….should…be…dead…” eyes somewhat cold as he looked down at them. “You…failed us and then you….left…” tone now almost like an accusation. “My people are dying because of you!” the anger was clear as day now as glared down at the man who looked just like the hero he remembered, the man who failed them all and caused all of this pain and suffering.

Dami watched as others started to arrive, keeping silent as if she needed permission to speak from either the Tree or Daphnes, or that's how she felt. Her hands had been bound until it seemed no one paid her attention, then she quickly freed herself to be more comfortable, her mind wandering to admire the greenery around her.

A Hylian soon arived, followed by a Zora woman who seemed quite attentive to her. Dami noticed the complete disdain the Zora had towards her. The spiteful glares and the expression of disgust were clearly evident on her face, becoming ever so distracting when the Zora woman sat in direct line of sight to her. It was distracting, if even deserved, but Dami could be wrong.

She turned her attention back to the grass, watching a small bug crawl up a blade of grass. She was starting to get bored, when she jumped at the cry of another. When she raised her head, her eyes went wide at the battle before her. Daphnes was suddenly fighting another magic wielding man.

Dami jumped to her feet and suddenly found herself taking cover behind a large root of the Deku Tree. Peering over the top she saw fireballs flying in all directions, she soon saw the sight of Daphnes defeat. Harsh words were spoken as she assumed there was a history she knew nothing about, but was relieved when they stopped fighting. Only now did she notice the vines around her ankles, holding her in place. Looking up at the tree, she realized a large root had raised from the forest floor to shield her, yet the vines kept her from running off.

"You can let go now." She spoke to the tree. She thought she heard a sort of grunt after a moment of hesitation and the vine's grip released, retreating back into the ground. The root lowered and she hopped up to sit on it, sighing heavily, "I'm not going to run off anywhere."

Then she felt it. It was a repetitive rumbling in the ground. Something big was coming.

It seemed a large boulder walked into the clearing, yet it was carrying a large hammer and a pile of rocks on it's back. What's more is that it spoke, confusing Dami as she stared at the thing. Maybe this was a Goron she heard stores about? It was even more fascinating than the Zora, which she lost interest because of it's constant glaring.

“Hero…you….should…be…dead…” eyes somewhat cold as he looked down at them. “You…failed us and then you….left…” tone now almost like an accusation. “My people are dying because of you!” It boomed. Hero? Daphnes wasn't the Hero. Oh wait, the clothes...

"That's not the hero." Dami called out to him, "He's just wearing similar clothes. Take another look, boulder-brain!" She taunted the walking rock, as more of a gamble, since she didn't know much about Gorons or what their temper was like, let alone their intelligence. Maybe he wouldn't be smart enough to pick up on the insult? Who knew. Still, it's not a good idea to get something that big angry. Especially at a man who just went through the wringer. It went against her training and her common sense, but she tried to draw the attention of the Goron to herself for once.

Battle cries and expressions of extreme hatred were all well and good, if only they weren't giving away a perfectly good ambush. The rational thoughts only occured to her later, but Rajaala was keenly aware that had their hidden assailant not shouted out in his rage, then his first fireball would have left one of her oldest acquantainces a burned husk.

As it was, the shout echoed throughout the meadow, drawing the eyes and ears of everything even remotely close by, bringing the rapidy approaching ball of magical fire to the centre stage. Without hesitation Rajaala sprung to her feet, halberd left resting against it's tree and sword in hand, ready to face the threat of darkness head on. She had run once before, she'd be damned if she did so again.

The first fireball struck Daphnes straight on, absorbed by his shield in a spectacular display of brave stupidity, after which he called for a retreat to cover. A wise move, one she had no inclination of following at first. The second fireball convinced her otherwise, sending her flying into the surrounding brush with a beautiful pattern of burns down one arm. Picking herself up from amongst the detritus that her impromptu flight had caused, Rajaala raced back to the edge of the clearing, her arm spasming in pain that she ignored. It took quite a bit longer than it should have for her to reach the edge of the meadow itself, her trained focus blocking out the the fact that she could barely walk in a straight line, let alone fight. By the time she could collapse against one of the trunks that ringed it, the fight was over. By some miracle Daphnes still lived, despite his clearly damaged arm and broken shield lying discarded on the ground. The dark thing flitted away, moving through shadows like it was born to it, heading somewhere... anywhere.

The old man had eyes only for the Kokiri, even though he was clearly quite the worse for wear. When his steps carried him towards the sacred grove, or at least where she remembered it to be from so long ago, Rajaala made to follow. Something stopped her. Nothing physical, just a feeling. He needed to be alone for this.

She jogged to her halberd, every step sending shooting agony through her elbow, still leant against the tree she had left it at. Whatever that thing was, whatever Daphnes intended to do with a messed up sword arm, she didn't trust it would end well. Standing tall again, she placed herself between the meadow and the direction Daphnes had left in. With luck, she would see him returning alive.

Mercy never had the chance to live, and in that aspect, she was no different from everyone else in the world who wasn't a slave to the dark lord. Even with those massive variables on her life, she held a trait of stubbornness. To lose the fight with Daphnes was not just to simply lose a fight. The gesture to her was meant as a lesson; she had very much to learn. Her interpretation surmised to be a much different lesson. She simply stood to the side, as though she was a wolf who'd lost the fight to become alpha.

She simply remained quiet, she didn't feel there was a point to speaking. She set her gaze on the beings that were arriving. She spotted more Kokiri, though they were almost plentiful in this forest, a word Mercy was unfamiliar with. Out where she spend her life, there was never an abundance of anything except dead plants and dirt. Then, more beings came, the one that caught her eye was the Zora. Mercy cocked one of her eyebrows up, there was no way she was really seeing this. She was certain that something so graceful was simply made up in this world. And if not made up, than certainly destroyed by now. Surely enough, one stood before her. But with this war, if it could be called one, even the graceful were forced to fight. It was clear beyond a thought that this woman had been through struggles and fights recently, as had most of the people there.

Her half-admiring and half-skeptical gaze of thought was interpreted by a man shouting at none other than Daphnes. Mercy had no shield and certainly was not capable of taking on a fireball. In these situations, Mercy had learned to survive by picking her time to strike. Without waiting for Daphnes to speak, she was gone, in a bush not far. Her hands clutched her swords, her thoughts ran rampant in her mind. This man was going to destroy the only lands with actual life left in it, he was going to burn it down. Mercy relied on her ears to tell her when to kill this man, as she stared down at her blade. She saw it in her head, the whole forest burning down. The Kokiri would scatter, and the Great Deku Tree would be history. The beautiful Zora would be killed, along with the beautiful trees and grass only this forest offered. The world would be exactly what it was, but finally wholesome with this last beacon of hope gone.

Mercy gritted her teeth, the pair of men were close. And just as she decided was about to kill this abomination of a person, she heard the sound of a shield drop. Her silent breaths annoyed her, she could hardly make out the words. But what she was certain of was that it was over. She rose from her hiding spot shortly after, her teeth gritted. She wasn't sure what personal conflict had gone on, but it could have costed what was left of the world.

It wasn't until then that she first took true note of the giant. She wasn't even aware of their name, only that there was now something else she didn't truly believe in that was in front of her. She'd have felt foolish She took one good look at him, with her eyebrows arched. He was massive and she very much did not want to get into a fight with him. His earth-like texture was fascinating. Mercy stood still for a moment, everyone seemed to be waiting. She stood still with them for a few moments, until she decided she couldn't stand still.

In a split second decision, she went off to catch up to Daphnes and the man he'd called Eyal.

Satisfied with the events that took place, but still in quite a bit of pain, Daphnes allowed Eyal to leave the clearing first, back towards the Great Tree. It was a quiet, somber walk, and the decaying woods did little to aid that. Slowly however, the dying brush turned to a lively green and they were back among the clearing with the Deku Tree in the distance, it's gaze still and forward as patient as ever.

Daphnes looked to the five guests and made his way towards them quickly. "I'm sorry for the commotion but thank you for keeping out of the battle. He is an old friend." He paused, but quickly started again at their confused faces. "It's a long story, and we've little time to dawdle I think." He said, looking up to the tree in expectancy.

"You are correct. Forgive me my guests. Times do not allow us normal greetings. All of you are well aware of the situation this land is in. All of you know The hold Ganondorfhas on this world. He will never be satisfied. This clearing shall fall too with time." The kokiri quailed at the thought slightly but did not speak. "All is not lost though young ones. For the blade of evil's bane still exists. And you seven together, Mercy, Bi, Zuberi, Rajaala, Dami, Eyal, and Daphnes. You seven hold a hope of bringing down the tyranny that is the dark lord."

Daphnes did not look to see what shock the others may have had on their faces, for he was shocked himself. "But Great Tree, are we to storm castle town and just take it from him? His forces would slaughter us in a manner of minutes. How are we supposed to combat with his iron burst bows?"

"My friend, you will not storm the town as fools. You must travel to the temples of ages past. You must complete the trials within, you seven as one. Remake the pieces and bring them whole. Forest green for courage forward. Mountains fire for strength of heart. Waters flow for making your path known. Shadows embrace for making the seen unseen. Shifting sands for insight beyond. Together these trials you face and together these trials you complete. For together you all know darkness, and only together can you all find the light. A deep shudder ran through his trunk, and leaves fell from the force of it. "This hope is what I give you now young ones. My power is waning, and I cannot remain. My slumber will be eternal, and so will this forest." His branches spread out wider than they had ever in Daphnes's memory, and he too shuddered at the implications.

"What of the kokiri?"

"Bi shall be with you. Mido with the rest. Go forth, you seven. Knights of the light, Knights of the shadow. Knights of Hyrule. Go forth and stop the evil that has plagued us for far too long. Go forth and return our land to it's rightful place. Right fate, right history, and right the travesties you have suffered." His final words faded with the rustle of leaves and a still wind. "Take your places amongst legend. Take your places amongst the gods." And the Great Tree's voice was no more. His bark hardened, and there he slumbered.

Mido's head drew down and he walked to Daphnes, solemn and sad. "You need to go. We'll take to the trees and be safe. I wont let anything hurt them. I swear it."

Daphnes looked down to his old friend, and nodded. "I know. Thank you Mido. Stay safe." He took that moment to finally gaze at the other six whom the Deku Tree had named. All seven of them appearing at this one place in Hyrule. Fate it would seem had one more hand to play against the dark lords plans. "What will it be then? I plan to take the Old ones words to heart and make true his vision. If it's even possible. Will you go with me?"

That was it. It was over. The Great Tree was no longer here, no longer aware. Only a miracle could reverse that, which would mean less miracles for them. If the Tree's last wish was to be taken seriously, then they would need every last miracle they could find just to survive.

Water's flow..., Rajaala was sure those words were aimed at her, some kind of tasking laid upon her to show them where to go perhaps? As a guide? Or a warning? That thought was unproductive, entirely unecessary, but it ate at her all the same. What exactly had the tree known or suspected? Better to focus on the here and now. And of course Daphnes was ready to throw everything away on the word of that overgrown... wise tree.

"I have known you for quite some time Daphnes. In all that time, have I ever given you the impression that I wouldn't follow you to the depths of the worst hell imaginable? You aren't going anywhere without me. Although," A significant glance was directed at the towering figure of the Goron here, "I'm quite sure we could do well without the talking rock." Her concern was purely objective here. How would you hide a walking, talking rock that weighed a couple of tons, could be mistaken for a small hill and thought it was actually intelligent? It would be little better than bringing along a small child, albeit one that could probably crush one of Ganondorf's minions in one hand. There was also the issue of their former assailant, the Sheika who seemed to be pulling his best impression of sullen, brooding teenager.

"There is still the issue of this one." She levelled her halberd at the man's chest, one handed and absolutely steady, the point hovering a few feet from him. The threat was clear.

"He attacked you. My arm is in fine health since his fireballs. He likely would have gutted everyone here given half a chance. I think that you owe me... owe us... an explanation." Her voice quavered on the last syllable as her left arm spasmed underneath the burns. They were only skin deep, but they were agony to someone like her. To a Zora. The mental correction was starting to wear. She would need to find some proper water to immerse herself in after this, or risk the inevitable scar taking muscle tissue with it.

"I don't know why, but you trust him. I can see it. So I ask you, why?"

Everything had happened so fast, Bi could only react. The cry, vibrating through the foliage. Bi's senses were on high alert as her attention turned to Daphnes, but he quickly gave his orders to the Kokiri. Which they all followed without question, even Bi hid among the bushes. A whimper here a trembling hand there, the Kokiri huddled together.Bi felt herself wince at the yelling as the two figures fought. As Bi watched and more parts became visible of the opponent her mind began to trickle information she hadn't gone over due to her fear. The name, the dark hair, the olive skin.

Realization hit her hard, Eyal. The name whispering it's bittersweet memories of days long since passed. Eyal and his family had spent so many days within the woods with her and the rest of the Kokiri clan. She had watched him grow from child to adolescent. Years of torture were etched into his frame. She could see the differences from what he once was. But how was it all possible?

The obvious reason, the reason they were all in so much pain. Her pale eyes scanning the faces of her clan. What laid there made the anger in her flutter and swell. A crack echoed from the two tossing about. The shield that had survived for so long, now laid burnt to charred bits alongside of them. A scowl fit itself along her mouth. Daphnes was making progress with Eyal, he would find the truth that was stolen from him. Daphnes gaze caught Bi, he was making sure they had come to no harm. She nodded gently not knowing if he had seen, not caring if he had again he proved his worth in her eyes.

Slowly watching Eyal and Daphnes figures retreat to the Sacred Grove. Bi and her kin came out waiting in hushed tones. Bi tapped her foot in nervousness, no cries of murderous intent could be heard. But still her foot tapped. A breathy sigh escaped her as she saw the two return the taping ceased. But as he addressed the rag tag group his attention turned to the great Deku tree.

It's warning causing frightened gasps and wails amongst her kin. Disbelief covered her features as her pale eyes went from Daphnes to Mido. Only to rest on the Deku tree. Had she just heard him right? She was to be separated from her kin! Anger and duty made war inside her heart. Defeat was all she had left, watching Mido bid farewell to Daphnes talking of protecting their kin.

With sorrowful eyes she bid her silent goodbye to her kin. There gentle touches filed with words for her to hold on. Her hand releasing its hold on one of her kin. She choked back a sob turning her back as to stop from watching their retreating figures into the trees. Quickly she covered her tears and wiped them away. Leaving only her red eyes and sniffling nose. And then Daphnes began what she figured were his words for them to come together.

The first to reply was the Zora, Rajaala made her feelings quite clear. Bi's eyes narrowed "Because it is the will of the Great Deku tree, just as you are one of them, so is Eyal. As is the rest of us" she grumbled her arms crossed over her midsection.

Mercy's mind worked through the blur of events that had just transpired as she found her way back. She fumed in silence; it was as if the air around her could feel the turmoil boiling within her for the woods held a deafening hush. Daphnes had managed to so easily fend off her attacks, but this newcomer; he could have made quick work of Daphnes. The thought made her blood boil and her face hot. What does that make me? If someone that dangerous exists... She shook the thoughts from her head at the sight of the Great Deku and the motley of fairy tale creatures. She elected to stick to the back of the group as the Great Deku addressed them one last time. She leaned against a tree to hear his final cryptic words and she was quite glad she hadn't been standing on her own; her stomach turned and she felt dizzy for a moment. The absurdity of the entire situation almost made her laugh. Was he serious? This group of people would succeed in defeating a creature capable of fending against the gods? Mercy cracked her jaw in a pathetic attempt to vent the turmoil of emotions she felt. It wasn't enough.

Something in her heart sank as she watched the Kokiri recede into the forest. The once bright faces now looked grim and solemn; the sight was too familiar for Mercy to stomach. She turned to face the now silent tree and fury rekindled itself. The feeling seemed mutual throughout the group. Shock and astonishment had been replaced with fear and mistrust which manifested itself in the form of rage; Everyone seemed to be turning against one another. The giant had a dangerous flame in his eyes as he stared down Daphnes; the Gerudo had taken to taunting the creature and the Zora seemed positioned to strike. Even one of the Kokiri had taken to the argument but her empty zealous words, no matter how pure and simple in their intent, struck a nerve. She could no longer keep silent; the words burst from her with a force that surprised even herself.

"The 'will of the Deku Tree' is going to get us killed! You think that just because he gives you an order everything will be okay?" There was no stopping now.

"He's pushing the burden into our hands saying 'Well, I've done my part' knowing full and well that we could fail,". She smashed her fist into the tree she had been leaning on and she pointed accusingly at Eyal

"This 'man' who, just moments ago was set on destroying everything here, is suddenly a fine addition to the team, right?"

She crossed her arms and frowned as she scanned over the 'saviors'. Her eyes stopped on the Gerudo and her frown only deepened. She managed to speak more calmly, but her words were still filled with venom and fury "We're on our own now, and pretending everything will be solved because a tree deems it as such is not going to get us anywhere. I'm not going to say that I know what to do but relying on faith hasn't been our friend so far. We need a plan,"

The girl stood up and let her hands hang at her side as she walked toward the Zora. Her eyes were immediately drawn to the mark upon her arm and she turned to face the guilty party. She looked over him once with a cold almost hateful glare "You're quite capable, Daphnes doesn't need to explain why we should trust you; I think that burden should fall on you, considering there's a blade pointed at your chest,"Her voice had softened significantly as did her gaze.

"So, explain how someone loses their undying hatred and complete destructive intent in a matter of seconds. As the people who have a long way to go together, I want to be assured that I won't wake up to a blade at my throat,"

Eyal smirked, “A bunch of coddled children is what we have here.” He spat on the blade before him without fire or much care that it was in his face at all, he had experienced worse, seen worse and the tadpole being upset because of a little burn was not a threat to him. “If you want to kill me then do so. It would be a release from the pain I have already experienced in my life. I would just hope that you were either good enough to do it in one blow, or at least not cruel enough to make it last longer than it needs. I am done with torture in my life and I would like to not spend my last moments suffering if it is possible.” Two confident steps taken and he allowed the point of the blade to rest against his chest directly.

“I was going to kill you. I was going to kill you, the little brat there who can’t handle the world, I was going to burn this place to the ground and have him watch it until I then burned him to the ground. Because I thought he left me to die. He was my friend and I had done everything with him, for him then when I needed him the most he abandoned me and I spent most of my life thinking a man who was akin to my brother left me to that fate and I wished for death. However, I did not just want to go alone, no I wanted to take him down with him and I wanted this place to suffer because my family gave their lives for it and no one was there when we needed them. Not a single one,” he grinned and pressed harder into the tip of blade so that it drew a bit of blood as it pierced his skin. “In a place where you don’t know if maybe, just maybe they would get tired of you and finally put you down you cling to anything to keep you sane, for me that happened to be my hatred for this man,” he gestured to Daphnes without looking at him. “He has shown me the truth and given me the chance to redeem myself for my actions. I have given him my word and he has accepted that is all that needs to be done in this matter. Because it is his word and friendship that I want to rebuild, not that of a bunch of strangers who can do nothing but whine about they’re poor burnt arm.”

There was only one person he cared about gaining forgiveness. His eyes slipped to Bi when she shifted again, well two people. He knew her before he was…well different and he wanted to regain that lost friendship with her as well. The others though? If he had to suffer them for the sake of the world then so be it. As it stood they only seemed bent on being assholes, who insulted and threatened people. Least he had the courtesy to try to kill them and not insult them.

“ENOUGH!” the usually calm and collected giant spoke, his hammer raised and brought down once more with enough force to shake the ground beneath their feet. “The insults and childish behavior stops now or help me, by the fire goddess I will sit on each and every one of you!” the threat clear and sincere. “Pathetic lot you are that are supposed to save the world,” his rage fueled his words and aided in a more rapid response despite expense of energy it cost him. “None of you were there when it happened!” his hammer lifted and allowed to fall once more. “None of you were there for the pain or the suffering of the land. NONE OF YOU!” Voice like rolling boulders down the mountain side he beat a fist on his chest and glared down at the annoying **** who thought only of themselves.

“Grow up! The world is not going to wait for you to change, you have to change it!” he sighed the hammer slowly lifted to his shoulder once more a rock taken from his pocket to munch on before he addressed the human. “You, who are not the hero….from….my….past…” his words starting to slow as the rage left his body. “I…will…come…with….you….”
