I'm thinking a team of hired assailants forces the senate to reschedule. It could be that there is some legislation trying to get through that one of the senators doesn't want to pass (for padme's reasoning). Them targeting padme could make it so that we'd have to accompany until she was not under risk anymore (possibly follow her on a diplomatic mission elsewhere until the reconvening of the senate). I'm thinking the attacking team could be someone one of our character's knows. The team could simply be trying to delay senate proceeds or they could know Padme would be too stubborn to avoid the senate meeting and would try to go despite danger. I like it being a bit ambiguous for the time being. If you have any ideas, let me know.

Sounds good. Was debating my character stopping a blaster bolt or a poisonous dart shot at Padmé anyway.

For the interrogation, would you like the characters to do that for a while or would you like the interrogation to be a quick deal before the Council speaks to the characters about their next course of action?

Also, next course of action: how do you think we should proceed from here? Should we approach this like a mystery and follow a trail to bringing the benefactor of this crime to justice, should we act as Amidala's primary security force for the time being or should we be open-ended about this and go to a new mission objective from here that ties back to the reason for the assault later on?

On the council's inquisition into Alastor's indoctrination: Mecohn will calmy but bluntly reject that Alastor join the Jedi order. He doesn't hold any animosity toward Alastor, he just holds Jedi to a high moral standard and sees Alastor as a possible corrupting influence. After the meeting the two can talk about it; why they follow their paths and what connection they have with this group. Mecohn will reveal a bit more about his past at this point.

Alastor would refuse to join the Jedi Order anyway. He wouldn't want to be tied down by regulations imposed by the Jedi council as he would quickly come into conflict with those above him. That and he's used to moving whenever he feels like it. They would offer to let him join, but he would ultimately say no as he knows he could inadvertently cause younglings to make choices that go against Jedi teachings. Its not something he'd be willing to risk. He would however allow, begrudgingly, a Jedi to monitor him so he doesn't get too out of line.

The interrogation should be a quick thing as Alastor will have ties with criminal organizations that would allow for quicker and more potent info gathering if manipulated correctly.

Alright, Maybe we can back and forth in a bit. I'll be back around at 12. The two would probably reach an understanding on the point but I'd like to make it a smooth conversation.

So we aren't basically writing the next post, I'll give you a jist of Mecohn's statement and then you can fill in the responses. I'll build Mecohn's statements and questions around your responses.

At the council meeting, Mecohn will state outright his protest to the consideration of Alastor being allowed to join the order:

Afterwards in the hall; When the council has made their decisions and assigned Mecohn to supervise Alastor's actions, Mecohn will state his reservations about being responsible for such a risky task. He's a 14-year-old kid who hasn't left his master's side since the day he was apprenticed. He'll take the responsibility but he'll flounder at every step:

The characters can head directly for their next objective (Do you want to meet with the contact Alastor has? If so, where would they be going?) or they can conclude the day. This would be the point where Mecohn basically relaxes and resigns himself to being in this new situation. If Alastor has any questions at this point, things would be a lot easier to get out of him.
