Age: Approximately 80, though this calculation is complicated due to the fact that Namekians measure time differently and live quite long lives.

Sex: Due to the fact that members of his species reproduce by way of seed eggs expelled from their mouths, Clarinet does not exhibit any signs of sexual dichotomy.

Additionally he does not experience any form of sexual attraction, due to the fact that he lacks reproductive organs entirely.

Race: Namekian, Warrior-Type

Appearance: Being a warrior-type Namekian, Clarinet is well defined and his excruciating marital arts training regimen has toned his body. Nevertheless, he doesn't look like what individuals from other more humanoid worlds would have expected from someone with his level of training.

Insectoid could be used to describe his overall appearance. His body is covered in hairless green skin, and his extremities showcase various chitinous outgrowths that almost look like oval armored plates. Both of his hands truncate in sharp claws, which help to provide some additional force when fighting.

Interestingly enough, his face looks slightly different from some other members of his brood line because of a lighter patch of green across the bottom of it.

Generally he wears traditional Namekian clothing, shoulder pads and boots. A white weighted cape is generally worn for the purpose of providing him with additional resistance when training, but it always comes off when fighting.

Naturally he's not above wearing armor and a scouter when the situation calls for it either. Unlike many members of his species, he isn't afraid to adopt outside ideas. Sometimes he'd combined the different aspects of fashion and worn a scouter with his otherwise traditional clothing.

Abilities: Several of his abilities have to do with Namekian racial traits that Warrior Types from his planet carefully train. For instance, he can use Ki in order to fly, but this conversion of Ki to energy to fly isn't nearly as draining as it is for humans who are taught by humans to fly.

Perhaps more importantly, he has mastered the Antenna Beam technique that allows him to fire bolts of electricity at his opponents from the antennae that are on his forehead. While he also knows a basic regular Ki blast, he generally prefers to use this electrical attack, since it allows him to keep his other limbs free when using it.

Mystic Attack and Regeneration are also Namekian abilities that he's mastered over time. He can therefore stretch his limbs out to great lengths and he can also regenerate damaged flesh or removed organs if it becomes necessary. This ability might have something to do with the exceptional life spans of the Namekians.

Due to the fact that he's worked on focusing on these techniques, he's eschewed the ability to transform or join. As a result while he lacks these, he has focused on perfection in what he does know. It's sometimes best to focus on doing a few things well than doing many different things with some degree of competency. That's how he thinks in pretty much everything.

Perhaps the most notable technique he works with is the offensive mouth energy wave that he has only recently come to master. This technique allows him to blast a great deal of power forth from his mouth.

It's an exceptionally swift technique, and it's awfully powerful. It features both exploding and piercing properties depending on which way he elects to use it.

It's important to note that Namekians aren't necessarily known as exceptionally strong fighters merely from their base power level. Nevertheless, it's these sorts of techniques and unusual abilities that allow him to bridge the gap that would otherwise exist between him and fighters of other species.

Bio: Unlike most other members of his species, Clarinet is not inherently distrustful of outsiders per say, but he does feel that many individuals have threatened Namek's existence. As a result, he joined with other interstellar fighters not because he wanted fame or glory for himself, but rather because he felt that in doing so he would provide a level of autonomy for his planet.

Clarinet's way of thinking is that few people would ever want to mess with Planet Namek since he's portraying it as a powerful and forceful aggressor in contrast to the normally peaceful atmosphere that the planet exists under.

This has lead to something of a unique position when it comes to his alignment. If it came time to take over some other world, then he wouldn't have a problem profiting off of the exchange if that profit in some way benefited the wealth and prestige of Planet Namek. As long as the Namekians come out on top in the end, he's pleased by the transaction.

To this end, he's not seen fit to expel either the good or evil sides from his personality as some members of his species have done. Rather, he feels that by keeping himself whole he should be able to profit off whatever aspect of his personality he could use at the present time.

In the end, this might actually be better for the galaxy. Those Namekians who have split their good and evil halves in the past generally end up starting a war amongst themselves, and the evil halves have, at times, caused quite a bit of destruction.

Other: It's important to note that while he personally eschewed fusion for the time being, that doesn't mean that he can't. He could, in theory, become a Super Namekian in the future by fusing with another member of his species. If the need had arisen, then he more than certainly wouldn't have regretted the decision. Naturally, he wouldn't have looked back on it either.

While his personality might make some people incorrectly perceive that he's not approachable, Clarinet is a total team player. He fights best when he's working with his group, and doesn't actually let anything like an ego get in his way. Nevertheless, he doesn't do anything to downplay what other people might incorrectly believe about his personality.

I don't feel like explaining away the whole Majin situation so I'm scrapping the idea and I'll leave that up to you, monster, if you so choose to make a Majin character, you can literally do anything with the explanation. I'd like to say we stick to the Early Dragonball Z era (Since it's named DBZ) and just continue on as if we were already acquainted with each other and are preparing to face an incoming threat.

I'm going to go ahead and make it canon that Frieza's race is still known as antagonistic, cruel, rare and feared for leading the Planetary Trade Organization.

Age: 38 (Quite young for Frieza race, think around young adult/ late adolescence.

Race: Frost Demon (Frieza's Race)
Appearance: Kelvin is quite short, standing at barely 5'0", He is small even by his races standards. His stocky build displays the results of his training and his serious expression bodes very poorly for people's perception of him. His thick orange tail is about 3/5ths his body's length and tapers to a blunt tip.

Abilities:

Survivability: Kelvin can survive extreme damage and severe injury. His death is only ever guaranteed by obliteration. He however needs help from healing machines to return to his original state.

Flight: The Frost Demons naturally levitate and travel through flight.

Kelvin is well known for his incredible speed. He fights with precision and ferocity and relies on his skill and great mental acuity to manage himself in battles.

Terror Gaze: Kelvin can completely paralyze his enemies as long as he maintains direct eye contact with them. This means that he can't blink or move too rapidly.

Ki blast: Kelvin releases a small pale pink, staticky ball of energy from either of his hands. This ball moves rapidly toward the enemy, is not very painful but explodes with a great deal of force. Carefully aimed, this can knock the air out of someone or knock them off balance and several meters away.

Ki Level Manipulation: Kelvin isn't capable of maintaining his full level at all times and so lowers himself to a very low ki level while not in combat. This puts him at a serious disadvantage if he is caught off guard.

Bio: Kelvin is known as the weakling of his race. His parents are unknown as his genetic composition. The Frost Demons tested his strength through combat and severely wounded him before casting him off the planet as genetically defective. With a bit of luck, the boy was encountered by a traveling ship of Tuffles and was taken prisoner. They, however, were not cruel to him and treated his wounds. The Tuffles monitored the child's development but became very uneasy when his power level rose quite beyond the inhabitants of planet plant. They sent him to live among the Saiyans and hoped his presence would be seen as a gift in mutual friendship. Being aware of Frieza's terrifying galactic presence, the Saiyans at first thought of the child's presence as a threat before realizing it was an opportunity. Training with the Frost demon would prepare the Saiyans for any impending attacks. The boy became a training tool for the Saiyans; at first, defeating Kelvin was known as a rite of passage before Kelvin's strength became insurmountable by even the strongest of Saiyan children (It eventually devolved into "Stay on your feet for three minutes"). Because of his part in society he was perceived apprehensively; adults spread stories of the "terrifying demon", children froze or fled at his presence, and all ostracized and isolated him.

Kelvin didn't know how to feel. His emotions boiled in him. Eventually, he fled the planet, thinking that they would miss him once they realized his importance. Along his travels, Kelvin joined forces with some powerful beings who accepted him for what he could do and never felt more a part of something than he ever had.

Personality: Kelvin is very quiet most of the time, but he is not afraid to speak earnestly and jovially with people he trusts or cares about. Though he may look very intimidating or cruel, Kelvin is actually quite sensitive and emotional; he becomes extremely solemn and sulky when he sees the fear he instills in people. He desperately tries to make sure people are comfortable around him and he would gladly lay down his life to protect another. His high sensitivity is a serious crutch in that it can gravely affect his concentration in battle and his young age can make him do foolish things to spite or enrage others.

Kelvin wouldn't trade his place with the galactic-fighters for anything in the world; being a part of a team really means a lot to him and he works very hard to ensure his usefulness. He is dutiful when issued commands and he is very protective of his teammates (almost overbearingly). He is easily distressed when he sees or hears his team members struggling.

Other: Kelvin has a strange affinity for spicy food.

I actually really like Kelvin here. He's a unique take that keeps everything that makes Frieza's race cool (no pun intended!) without turning him into the caricature that the anime eventually had.

I also really like that both of us have kept Toriyama-sensei's naming scheme so far, haha!

Thanks, I kinda followed your lead on this character. Clarinet is unique but doesnt feel out of place. Monster might have a harder time if he picks the tuffles ( think they're named after fruit while the Saiyans are vegetables)

Tuffles are actually named after mushrooms - Truffles and all.. Well, the race is, at least... I'm not sure about the members of that race, seeing how only one has an actual name, and he's literally just called Baby, and I'm pretty sure that isn't a mushroom.

That's actually a consequence of the name being translated. The original name is "tuffurusu" Which is a play on "Furrutsu" Or Fruits. Hence why they are on Planet "Plant" and not Planet "Fungus". The R's are replaced with Ls and the ending "su" is cut to become an English plural (the Tuffles instead of the Tuffle) The whole play on words thing is pretty popular in the Japanese language it just doesn't translate very well. Same with the Saiyans (Yasai means vegetable, it was flipped to become saiya then "jin", which means "people" was added therefore creating Saiyajin) which is why they are from planet vegeta(.... ble lol)

In regards to naming a tuffle though, I wouldn't think they'd take the same route of naming as the Saiyans (Vegetable names) Mainly because a lot of Frieza's henchman had fruit inspired names (nabana, appule, raspberry). Because there's literally nothing to go off of but "Baby", I'd say go crazy.

For lack of a better naming scheme, I'm gonna just roll with mushrooms, even though it was just a translation error. I already have a name in mind following that system, anyway.

Name: Sitaka (pronounced like “See Tah Kay”)

Age: 17

Sex: Female

Race: Tuffle

Appearance: Outside of APE mkIII, Sitaka is barely shoulder-height to an adult human, making her look more like she's in her early teens or even younger, but is otherwise indistinguishable from human. Her skin is pale from time spent outside of the sunlight, she has chin-length dirty blonde hair which is usually held back by an oil-stained scarf tied around her forehead, and her eyes are a metallic gray. She is much less muscular than her peers, having swapped physical training for honing her skills at tactics and engineering, but is still well-built by Tuffle standards. She dresses in the usual Tuffle clothing - hooded tunic over a long-sleeved shirt, fingerless gloves, trousers, and boots. She also wears a toolbelt and an orange scouter. The APE mkIII itself is much larger, twice as big as its Tuffle pilot, with an egg-like body and thick limbs. It has no visible head, but instead keeps its pilot's face visible near the top of the “egg” using a pane of translucent material just as durable as the rest of the metal. This pane doubles as a monitor, on which Sitaka can pull up information like her enemy's power level. Painted onto the suit’s exterior is its namesake, a ferocious painting of a Saiyan’s fearsome Great Ape form, complete with blood-red eyes and razor-sharp fangs.

Abilities: Without the assistance of technology, Sitaka has a total power level of seven. She can only barely tap into her ki, cannot sense energy, and though capable of flight she cannot maintain high speeds. She overcomes this weakness through a power suit called the Adamantine max-Potential Exoskeleton mark 3, or APE mkIII for short. This full-body suit of armor can exert and withstand incredible amounts of force, and is equipped with an arsenal of weapons, including half a dozen guided missiles and laser cutters at the tips of its fingers. It is equipped with a variety of sensory filters, including the same power-sensing technology as scouters. Its armor is designed to withstand fast flurries of punches, which leaves it slightly more vulnerable to the standalone but more powerful swings that it can defend against more easily. Most prominently, however, is its ability to tap into canisters of ki, gathered from sunlight, the environment, and even dead lifeforms when absolutely necessary, in order to perform large-scale ki-based feats that Sitaka cannot normally perform. These feats include beam attacks (most prominently Sitaka’s signature move, the Fallout Cannon, which combines ki energy with a powerful radiation-based laser to decimate opposition and carve out the landscape) and high-speed flight. As icing on the cake, these reserves of ki are concealed by the material of the canisters, and leaves Sitaka with a visible power level of eight until the ki is in use. APE mkIII’s adjustable nature means that Sitaka has the potential to advance in strength faster than any of her peers if given enough time to tinker with and improve her systems, but its size and sluggish movements make it an easy target, and Sitaka’s own physical weakness results in her needing to withdraw from the battle sooner than her allies if APE takes too much damage. If it becomes too damaged to retreat, however, Sitaka will reluctantly eject herself from within and abandon APE to escape on her own.

Bio: From a young age, it was obvious that Sitaka would benefit Tufflekind. Though that wasn’t saying much - Tuffles were gifted with technological genius aplenty already, and Sitaka was only marginally better than her peers. What set her apart from the rest, however, was her keen interest in the biology of her species’ neighbors, the Saiyans. She was most specifically interested in their ability to tap into a mysterious energy that they called “ki,” which allowed them to perform incredible feats of strength as mighty as lasers of power that could destroy entire planets. Sitaka graduated from Tuffle college, or whatever her race called it, at age fourteen (only two years ahead of her peers), and immediately began studying ki. She quickly discovered that ki was not exclusive to Saiyans, and that every living creature, with enough training, could tap into their ki to perform the same incredible feats. Saiyans were simply more attuned to this force, and could reach these levels more easily through their Zenkais and their Great Ape transformations. She spent a year attempting to hone her body in order to tap into her own reserves of ki. However, her progress was slow, and she only managed to raise her total power level by a mere three points. She needed a faster method through which she could experiment with ki’s potential. Her inspiration came one weekend shortly after she had given up on her training, during a marathon of an anime about giant mechs fighting for dominance. She realized that, if ki was a natural energy source in every living creature, she could theoretically tap into the ki of others and “borrow” it to perform feats that would be impossible of somebody with her meager strength. (Ironically, this is the same concept behind King Kai’s Spirit Bomb attack, through which the user absorbs the ki energy of their environment in order to wield an attack several times more powerful than anything they could wield on their own. She didn’t know this at the time, but if she ever DOES learn about this - like, say, if she were to die and somehow make the journey across Snake Way to King Kai’s planet - she would certainly be interested in knowing more about the Spirit Bomb and its many feats.) With this in mind, Sitaka began construction of her Adamantine max-Potential Exoskeleton, nicknamed “APE” as an abbreviation and in joking reference to how she would use this power suit to obtain a combat potential boost equivalent to that the Saiyans got from their Great Ape forms. This mech suit has gone through three iterations leading up to her present model. The mkI fell apart under the stress of containing ki in canisters. The mkII, though it was capable of containing ki safely, tended to be far more sluggish than its successor and had much less variety of attack, meaning that it was rendered useless once it depleted its ki reserves. The most recent model, the mkIII, can use ki much more efficiently, has more non-ki weaponry for dealing with enemies, and is less sluggish but also less tank-like when compared to its predecessor. Though her APE mkIII was met with mixed responses, Sitaka was convinced that it could benefit her race and allow them to match Saiyans in the field of battle... or, at least, for a little while. During her engineering of the mkII, she had heard of a group of fighters from across the cosmos that were hell-bent on protecting the galaxy from its most powerful threats, mostly by punching those threats in the face. A lot. Really hard. Though they were almost solely interested in ki-users and experienced fighters, Sitaka knew that they would need somebody with actual brains - not every race could survive in the vacuum of space like the Frost Demons could, and they’d need somebody to pilot a spacecraft - and that her APE would be a welcome bonus by allowing her to fight on the front lines alongside them.

Personality: Sitaka is the most lighthearted of the group, with a carefree and laidback nature that stems from never having to overexert her physical body in the field. She is talkative to a fault, and tends to better at interactions with machines than when people. Her role in combat has spawned an almost playful attitude towards her enemies, and she will often taunt them early on if the battle is too easy. She enjoys cooking out of a love of good food, but most of the time she's the only one that will end up eating what she makes simply because she's nearly always alone when she's cooking. She also has an interest in the properties and scientific applications of ki as a power source, and has an unusual love of using her spare ki canisters to experiment with firing ki blasts at miscellaneous objects, under the guise of “APE-based researching,” to see which one looks coolest when it explodes. She’s also a huge geek when it comes to sci-fi and anime, tends not to trust felines of any sort, and dislikes celery because of how stringy it is.

Other: Sitaka’s name is based on the shiitake, an edible mushroom with uses in cuisine and traditional medicine.

Nice! Sitaka will make a fun heavy hitter and I'm guessing we'll get some fun dialogue from this girl. I had a feeling you might pick shiitake (Thought you might make a character named Takeshi but Sitaka better fits a girl) ; much better than Portabella or toadstool .
So now that the gangs all set up, I guess we need a purpose and a starting point.

I'm gonna assume Kelvin and Clarinet are already pretty well acquainted. I'm also thinking that barring any other z-fighters we make, we should have some z-fighter filler characters just to make us seem a bit more substantial (Just some background people that anyone can control. No sheet needed). Maybe there are weaker teams of z-fighters throughout the galaxy and they can communicate with each other (via crappy tech that could use some updates) for help with major threats? Just so we're not like a random space-traveling duo. I'm thinking maybe we start with a conflict we're handling on Planet Plant and have the dilemma of being stuck because something happened to our original pilot. That way, we'd be seeking someone to fill in. Sound good? or does anyone have another idea?

Haha, I think the best part about this so far is the fact that we kept the zany naming scheme that Toriyama-sensei came up with like I said. I think that Kelvin and Clarinet (still cracking up at those names by the way!) would probably have known each other for a while now, and I figure that they have a mutual sense of respect. Do you think it would be probably fair to assume that?

I figure that there are weaker teams. In the canonical series, after all, there are indeed groups like the Ginyu Force.

Are we actually referring to our group as the Z-Fighters, though? I figure that they don't have that name since they evolved separately from the ones in the original story.

Other than that, I actually think your idea is awesome and I'm ready to go with this! About how long do you think posts should be? I know this is in Beta, but the guideline with this is only five sentences and thus far we've been writing more. I'm personally good with pretty much matching whatever anyone else is looking at to be completely honest here.

Yeah, Kelvin would be even more than mutually respectful. He'd actully think of Clarinet as boss man.
As for the team name. I think we can just stick with Z fighters unless either of you have something in mind, since this is AU we can kinda go ahead and say they just made the name up themselves (coincidentally).

You two make very well thought out posts so the intros might be on the longer side but interaction and fighting scenes will require shorter chunk posts.

Whoever started this thread can set the bar when they post the IC (btw who posted the OOC? Im on mobile )

Yeah, actually it could be funny to have them called the Z Fighters without too much explanation. I actually could see Toriyama doing something like that, if he decided to make an entirely alternate universe version of DBZ or something of the sort.

Well, I actually have the IC up, and I linked to it in the very first post in the thread. I also linked the character sheet form, the power level guide you kindly wrote out for us, and the three characters we play linked in the order that we posted them.

I hope that the first post was all right. I made it open with a mystery to solve, so anyone is allowed to throw in whatever details that they'd like to.

Posted, and edited... Alot so I'm assuming we already know Sitaka then? Thought she'd come in when we travelled the planet in search of a new pilot so we wouldnt be so lost all the time . Ps I have no idea where I was going with the distress call thing. I might take it out but if you want to use it, go nuts: it could be a trap, a means to trick us into meeting someone or it could be a genuine call for help. Hell, it could even be something accidentally intercepted and the person is talking about us (They could have a negative association with the Z-fighters and are calling to a powerful protector for help). It's all good.

Well, there's so many ways that we can go with any of this. I had actually hoped to leave it open enough that we could go off in whatever different pattern that we'd like. You know, if you wanted, then what I could do is write out Sitaka from my post. Then when @monstermanchego does post he could add in Sitaka being on this planet and have our characters meet for the first time.

This is just a possibility, of course, and I'm just throwing out ideas. I love how all three of us are kind of sharing the responsibility of running this storyline. It keeps you guessing.

I'll just write for Sitaka as if she's already on the team, but has only been on it for... I dunno, two or three months?

And, yes. I'm back and I'm writing. What a shocker. :OOO

Having gone with the whole thing that Sitaka hadn't been here too long, but was still a member of the crew, I just made it like Clarinet is still learning to trust her. I hope that's all right. I also hope that it was okay to write in a little backstory about Kelvin in there. If it's a problem at all, then I'll change it. Just let me know!
