I may as well share my idea. A group of people who are more or less animal shapeshifters are cut off from the rest of the world by a wall. Switching between their human/animal form is normal for them, but something happens to the wall and they are forced from their environment. I didn't get far with that idea. ._. If anyone might like to expand on it...
