Disclaimer: Before proceeding, you acknowledge that I, the author, does not have much experience or knowledge of the lore of the Avatar universe. I anticipate several misreads on my ideas and would wish to know about them if you would be so kind as to comment.

Background
It has already been two centuries since the industrial revolution; one Avatar cycle has since passed through, leaving expectations for the next Avatar to be of Fire Nation heritage. The Equalists have all disappeared, their ideals live on to this day.

Our characters are in the city of Ao Tu, in Republic of Shang, which is the north-western fraction of the old Fire Nation.

Equalists
During the previous Avatar’s life, the Equalists have climbed back into a position of influence, this time opting to go for more publicity and relations with influential figures. They soon became a populist faction, with the dwindling percentage of Benders in society. Several members of their organization were the leaders of cybernetic augmentation research and pushed it as the next step to equalism, to put normal humans on the street on equal footing against benders who often received preference for better jobs.

As the decades passed, these Equalists research companies merged in a joint effort to win the technological race for cybernetic augmentation. This company is known as Ping Guang International, now one of the top three international leaders of cybernetic augmentation. Their headquarters are based in the Flame region, namely the Shang Republic. They have multiple branches worldwide and supply augmentation clinics with cybernetic parts.

Benders
Benders are people with the ability to manipulate an element. These elements are Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Energy. The first four elements are the most common, as only the Avatar may manipulate energy with the appropriate training to do so. Benders usually use the movement of their limbs and body to strengthen their control. These were originally believed to be restricted to a set pool of moves, however, barely a century ago, it was revealed that using other pools of movement could yield varying results.

Firebenders are capable of “creating” flames, when they are actually manipulating heat energy to create flames. They are stronger in the day, and have a solar affinity, heightening their powers during the day and in the summer. Stronger Benders are capable of flight, generation and manipulation of electricity. At this age, it is easier for Firebenders to manipulate and generate electricity, which is highly destructive in the digital age.

Waterbenders are known to be versatile even before the modern age. In this age, it is observed that Waterbenders can mimic other fighting styles to a certain degree. They are capable of manipulating water molecules to the point of freezing them. Stronger Benders are capable of manipulating blood, which is illegal.

Earthbenders are capable of manipulating earth, their control on their abilities has a heavy emphasis on a lack of movement, neutral Jing, or neutral movement, as categorized by the scientists. They will usually either withstand attacks or intercept them actively in order to maintain neutral movement. They used to be able to manipulate metals, however, past the industrial revolution, metals became purer, making it much harder to find earth within them to manipulate.

Airbenders are noted for being the most destructive form of bending. It has emphasis on finding the path of least resistance and exploiting it. They are also capable of overwhelming attacks which are hard to counter. They are capable of generating electricity by running air currents against each other, but may not manipulate them directly. They have a heavy emphasis on evasion and exploitation.

Cybernetic Augments
The total number of cybernetic points may not exceed 10 if your character is to stay within legal limits. However, if your character is in a military force of sorts, his points may go up to 20. Even if your character is augmented, he or she may still continue to use their bending abilities without any problems, though it may ruin their chances at a debate against transhumanism.

All augmentations are water proof. But this does not mean all of them were up for misuse!

If you have ideas for a type of aug, or wish to discuss in in further detail, PM me!

Head/Wetware
Cyber-Neural Interface: 0 points; installed by default if there are other head/wetware augments. Allows one to interface with software, the key component of modern hacking.
Enhanced Cyber-Neural Interface: 1 point; Next to no lag time, capable of hosting a simple firewall, will not prevent your brain from being fried if you are involved in criminal activities though!
Network Chip: 2 points; Grants neural access to an internet terminal. Personal internet terminal sold separately
Retinal Prosthesis: 1 point for each eye; grants perfect vision, eye colors can be chosen and changed at will. Cosmetic kits not included.
Retinal Upgrade (Thermovision): 1 point; grants the option of thermal vision
Retinal Upgrade (Cam): 1 point; allows the user to record videos from his implant, stored in a private cloud bank service of his choice. Cloud bank services need to be set up separately.
Cochlear Implants: 1 point; Allows one to have enhanced hearing, it also can function as a built-in neural earpiece to listen in to audio files.

Chest/Torso/Back
Rebreather Implant: 3 points; allows the user to take in more oxygen into their lungs, the perfect choice for athletic personalities!
Spinal Modem: 2 points; mounted below the cranium, where the spine meets the skull. Enhances cyber-neural interface, has wireless functions and can be switched off remotely by a personal killswitch. Links directly to the Cyber-Neural Interface chip.

Limbs
Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis: 2 points for one, 3 points for both; Grants additional strength and movement stamina.
Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis: 2 points for one, 3 points for both; Grants additional strength and dexterity.
Cybernetic Hand Prosthesis: 0 points if arm is already cybernetic, 2 points for each; Grants additional dexterity and gripping strength.
Misc
Skin plating: 0 points; makes your augments look more human!; Prerequisites: Any external augmentation.
Dermal plating: 4 points; increases your augments to military grade durability; Prerequisites: Any external augmentation.
Bone Lacing: 5 points; greatly increases bones’ integrity and and tensile strength.

"I don't want to be rich, or famous, or celebrated, or have many children and live in a great house. All I want is to be free till I die."

Name: Yujin Han Somun
Bending Element: Air
Age: 16
Occupation: Unemployed/"home"schooled

Augmentations:
  • Retinal prosthesis - left eye; 1 point
  • Retinal prosthesis - right eye; 1 point
  • Enhanced cyber-neural interface; 1 point
Appearance: Yujin is a small thing by definition. She stands short, only at 164 centimeters of height, and even then, she does not possess an extraordinary build. Her figure is closer to the leaner, gentler side, and she looks somewhat frail, though she stands proud and with elegance wherever she goes and whatever she does; her youth is still apparent, though. Her hips aren't very rounded, rather being bony and narrow, and she wasn't blessed by large breasts, either. She wouldn't pass for a boy, but if she was younger, and her face wasn't as obviously feminine as it is, she well could. She has quite long legs for her height, a narrow waist and similarly narrow, bony shoulders; not much muscle is to be found on her figure, either, and she is said to be soft on touch as much as on appearance. She has small, slender hands and feet, almost like a child, but she is past looking wholly childish by now. Her face has gentle, delicate features - a small nose, curving upwards, full rose lips, and large, almond-shaped eyes, bordered by thick lashes, set on her heart-shaped face with slightly round cheeks. Those eyes, which, at the time of her birth had been an azure blue, are now purple - they have been exchanged for mechanical ones, since she had been born blind. She has pale, soft skin, with an only ever so slight hint of peach and a blush at her cheeks; in summer, it receives a caramel tint, though. Her hair is a platinum blonde by nature, beautiful and silky, like molten silver growing to the middle of her back, and it forms large waves. Some of the front strands are slightly shorter than that, but the difference is small. She tends it well, and thus it is coarse and thick, always beautiful. She does not pay much attention to fashion trends when it comes to her hair, and far prefers to leave it unbound save for a few strands, tied at the back of her head, or twin braids worn in a similar fashion. Only when Shan braids it during a journey or while watching TV, she consents to it.
Attire: Comfortable is the first rule. She likes the colors brown and red the best; especially brick red, though she doesn't mind other shades of warm earthy colors. She dislikes yellow and pink, but she likes purple, brown, green, and white all the same. The colors she avoids are the overly bright and gaudy ones - even Shan doesn't think those fit her. She doesn't dress extravagantly, but she has a preference of dresses over trousers, and she likes to wear long coats when possible. She has a tendency to dress quite elegantly, and she despises sweatpants above all. She likes to wear summer dresses and loose clothes, but she isn't opposed to shirts and jackets, either. She dislikes shorts and short skirts, though. She doesn't exactly mind jewelry, but she doesn't wear it often; she doesn't even have her ears pierced.

Personality: Mature beyond her age, Yujin might be only sixteen years old, but she has wisdom beyond that. She might have lived her whole life in a shell, divided from the world around her, and sheltered - first by her parents, and then by Shan, her great-uncle, her guardian, but she isn't oblivious. She has good graces, and is curt and polite enough, and more withdrawn and courteous than most of the teens of her age; she seems like an adult when spoken to. She is calm, and does not hunger for attention, knowing that may she need it, she will get it. More introverted than extroverted, she loves to read and watch movies rather than speak to people or spend money in shops. Solitude is welcome to her. Solitude is freedom, though she values the presence of the people that are dear to her. She needs her alone time, though, and suffers greatly on balls and other actions when forced to interact with a lot of people in a short span of time. Yet, she doesn't let it on; she is convinced that other people should not be burdened by her suffering, no matter what, and so she keeps it bottled inside her. Yet, despite her quiet tranquility, she is confident when needed. She is softly-spoken, but she doesn't like to lie, not even white lies. The truth given gently is better than a gracious lie.
Despite her pacifistic nature and a dislike of conflict, a preference to talk the matters out in place of arguments, and hatred for violence, she pursues her goals with a surprisingly strong will; she's willing to do whatever is needed to reach them. And she hides a temper that had been subdued, but which hungers for justice and cannot bear people wronged. It would be wrong to say that even Yujin is still just an innocent child, but injustice she cannot stand. That is when her flaring hot blood reaches the surface, and turns her tranquility into rage. In that rage, she can be quite frightening; she doesn't tend to accuse people, or blame them for things they haven't done, and at all times tries to keep logic in her arguments, but when needed - or when she considers it necessary to protect herself, the people she cares about, or the so-called 'justice', she is well willing to use even airbending for those uses. She's hungry for knowledge, and learns fast; she's almost always to be found with a book, and likes libraries. Even though she doesn't truly love the nomadic life that she lives, she understands the need for it, and does not protest against it. She has learned to search for the good things even in the bad events, and tries to heed that, being grateful for the gift of airbending that she has. She is proud, and has her honor, though; those are some of the things that she will definitely flare up about if insulted.
But most of all, she values freedom. She needs no glory and fame, all she wants is freedom, the option to decide what she wants to be and what she wants to do, and to have her life in her own hands. She finds withholding a man's freedom abhorrent, even if that means that some danger has to be faced.

Bio: Yujin was the first child of an exceptionally wealthy pair of businessmen and art collectors with an exceptionally good reputation in the high society. Her mother was an excellent airbender; her father, however, wasn't as good, what often irked him. He hoped that his daughter would have more talent than himself when she was yet an unborn child. The birth was difficult, and her mother got, with much sadness, told that it would be unlikely that she would be able to bear more children. The more did her parents cherish and dote on the girl; but they soon found out that the girl was blind. She could control wind and air, but her powers were unsteady and wild, and she wasn't good at controlling it; her movements were too random, and she only caused directionless gusts of wind. They were troubled, especially her mother, who was very sorry for the child that was born without sight; and at only five years old, they had decided that they will consent to giving Yujin new eyes, eyes that could see.
She was overjoyed to find out that all of a sudden she can see, and under the careful tuition of her mother and grandfather, she found out that she has a great talent; she was quickly becoming a brilliant airbender, sure to best even her mother. At least that much her grandfather and his brother Shan had always said. Shan, though not a bender himself, had been one of the most amiable family members, and she had grown very fond of him and her grandfather. They always told interesting tales, and her grandfather was the best airbender that she knew. Her mother and Shan often told that she was much like him.
However, when she was seven, he was shot by an unknown attacker, and succumbed to the wound mere hours after. In a quick succession, her family was deprived of their wealth by a certain businessman, her mother mysteriously disappeared, and her father was arrested for charges everyone else in her family knew were untrue; what happened to him after that she never knew, but the rumors were that he was killed. Yujin herself was stolen away by Shan, who had taken custody of her, and immediately took her to the other side of the world in an attempt to save her and protect her. He raised the child for the first year with one of his friends in the north; there, she was safe, but he knew all too well that dwelling on one place for too long was dangerous. She was scared, but she convinced herself to hold on, and study airbending from books and documents. She grew up traveling, never settling down and never resting; that was how she had lived till now, for full eight years.

Notes: She is home-schooled, taught mostly by Shan in the matters of general knowledge and philosophy, and by whichever other old friends of his that they meet on their travels by whatever they have to teach her. Legally, though, she has never attended any schools; even in her youth, she had a tutor.

"I wasn't born to rule; rather, I am here... To protect, not command that which I care for."

Name: Shan Somun
Bending Element: N/A
Age: 62
Occupation: Freelancer, ex-soldier and mercenary

Augmentations:
  • Rebreather implant; 3 points
  • Bone lacing; 5 points
  • Dermal planting; 4 points
  • Cybernetic leg prosthesis, both legs; 3 points
  • Cochlear implants; 1 point
  • Enhanced Cyber-neural interface; 1 point
  • Network chip; 2 points
Appearance: Shan is an old man; yet, even despite that, he keeps himself in a good form, and it would be folly to doubt that. He stands taller than most, towering above them at 193 centimeters, and he has a broad build, more square than round; his shoulders are wide, and he has thickly muscled arms and torso, while his hands are large and strong - when Yujin was a child, he could carry her in his hands without a problem. His appearance is more like that of a strongman than that of a bodybuilder; he isn't lacking in body fat, even though it would be an insult to call him fat. In his youth, he was the sort of men that wrestle bears on a mountainside; now that he has aged, he retains most of his muscle, but his age is becoming apparent, if by nothing else than by his veins becoming more apparent under his skin, and wrinkles appearing on his face. He can fool men, but he cannot fool age. He used to be quite comely in his youth, what with dark chestnut hair and a tanned skin; nowadays, he is somewhat paler, though his skin retains a caramel tone and he keeps his proud posture. His facial features are, though weather-worn, sharply chiseled and quite youthful in spite of his age; he manages to keep up a decent look and doesn't let himself go. He has tall cheekbones and a straight, prominent nose on a long face, together with a strong jaw and deep-set eyes of a pale grey-blue color. His lips are thin, and he has small wrinkles at the corners of his mouth, just as he has them on his forehead and around his eyes. There's a scar running down his left temple, and many more on his body, though those are scarcely seen. His hair, which used to be a rich, dark color in his youth, has remained thick and in a good state, but had long since turned a steel-grey, slowly going white; he had long since cut it, and now it reaches to his chin, trimmed regularly enough not to look disheveled; he doesn't care much for styling the loose grey waves, and usually only does as much as sweep them back. He had gotten used to wearing a beard, though it had never quite formed magnificent whiskers as he perhaps would have wished; it lines his jaw and covers it like a thick cover of steel-grey, sharply trimmed with somewhat longer sideburns and a longer tuft at his chin. He wears glasses, but only for a close distance; his eyesight for large distances is perfect.
Attire: Dark clothes that he had worn for the past twenty years, withstand intensive use, and don't stand out of the crowd at all are his typical attire. He has a tendency to dress casually elegantly, usually in a pair of jeans or dress pants and a simple dark-colored or white shirt, primarily in monochrome colors and shades of dark blue and subdued dark red and brown; bright colors are an absolute no for Shan, and he doesn't as much as wear a yellow or green tie, not speaking of whole articles of clothing. He isn't too fond of dressing down, and tries to retain a slightly classy look even in everyday situations; that's why he prefers blazers and is rarely seen without a scarf and a jacket on. In his opinion, a leather belt is a must-have, and any man that does not wear it is barbaric; he doesn't like faux leather, and though he owns about two pairs of shoes, they are both high quality and real leather. He doesn't like clothes that restrict his movement, and thus it wouldn't be a usual occurrence to see him in a tux; casual suits are very usual, though.

Personality: Kind-hearted on the first sight, and with a realistic, but not bleak outlook on life, Shan doesn't like the prospect of giving up in the slightest. He's an old man, that much is true, and he realizes that, even though he doesn't like it; he knows he won't get any younger, and he knows that he won't be equal to younger men, and can't rely on his power and brute strength at everything. Instead, he had learned to use wit and tactics to get himself out of trouble... Because even though he's an old man taking care of an underage girl that likes watching TV, frequently falls asleep before it, and drinks tea with milk in the morning, he's nowhere near as innocent and without blame for anything bad as he'd like his great-niece to believe. He's a soldier. He has no great ruling ambitions, or a wish to command, but he's a soldier and a mercenary and he had been that for almost all his life; and he's also a secondborn son, and knows full well how it is to live in someone's shadow all his life. He prefers not to stick out from the crowd, and in his heart, he values what he has a lot, treasuring the little he has left; when needed, though, he will flare up and protect it fiercely. He is quick to smile, and quick to jest, though he doesn't like irony, sarcasm, and black humor all that much. He takes commands well and has an excellent discipline and willpower, though he's not as good as giving those commands out; one thing that's undeniable, though, is that he has a big heart, and whenever anything that fills up a place in that heart is at risk, you're bound to get on his bad side.
His bad side can be frightening. He has a cool, merciless fury; much like Yujin, he doesn't like to start arguments and his fire burns low and steady, but when provoked enough, he will act without doubt and without fear. He doesn't know fear for himself, he doesn't fear pain, and he doesn't fear death as long as it does not cause problems to someone that he cares for. He wishes to protect, and he will protect what he had sworn to with his last breath. He is a proud man, too, and a honorable one; even though he might bear smaller insults with a slightly bitter smile in an attempt not to cause more trouble that is needed, he can't bear with rudeness, and he despises the lack of chivalry and politeness that he finds in today's generations. And if this pride of his is insulted, he becomes a fierce wolf that fights for it as if it were a slab of bloody meat cut straight off a sow. He doesn't believe in giving up, too; he doesn't let himself despair, or hold onto the past too much, and he'd rather give up what he has himself than strip someone else off something theirs. Yet, this honorable side of him often clashes with that which was trained to survive, and survival is one of his main targets, too; he'd rather retreat less honorably, and take no chances, than die proud.
He's somewhat reserved, introverted, and he doesn't like a company of many people; loud and overly-enthusiastic people tend to unnerve him. He's distrustful and doesn't give his trust easily, but once given, he shows his friendly and good side eagerly. Yet, he has quite good social skills and he's polite, if somewhat too traditional. He values freedom - perhaps not as much as Yujin does, but still enough to fight for it. He likes what he knows and can be wary of innovations, but he doesn't detest the new and the unknown.

Bio: (Optional)

Notes: He's Yujin's closest family members whose whereabouts are known, and he has a lot of friends; he's skilled in combat and prefers to use guns, since he was not born with the gift of bending. He takes her somewhat like his own daughter, and somewhat like a very very precious treasure that he has to guard.

Eyepatch not included.

Name: Wei Min Tsui
Bending Element: N/a
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Occupation: Illegal Weapon Smuggler/Dealer
Augmentations:
0: Cyber-Neural Interface
1: Retinal Prosthesis for the right eye
1: Upgrade for Retinal Prosthesis (Thermal)
2: Cybernetic Hand and Arm Prosthesis for right arm
3: Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis for both legs
3: Rebreather Implant
0: Skin Plating
Appearance: Wei Min stands at the height of the average male citizen of the Republic of Shang, at 1.75m. Her physique is strong, from her daily physical training and other activities around the world. Her build is not to the point where she could look like a skin-clad statue, but enough to know that she has some rigorous physical training. She has long legs, also custom made augs to match her build. One would be unable to tell the difference between her augmented right arm and her natural left arm as she has made sure to control her training so that she would not stand out from the crowd. Her face hardly ever bears a trace of makeup, she has never known how to use it considering she came from a military family and had hardly ever attended those "meaningless" social appointments. Her pupils are amber, including her augmented eye. Her hair is black, short and choppy, mainly to keep it easy to wash and harder to get grabbed.
Attire: She usually wears a dark colored T-shirt and cargo pants. In the winter, she will just wear a padded jacket over it to keep herself warm if it is really that cold. When she expects trouble, she wears a ballistic vest with a collar which protects her neck. Also, she has a tendency to wear orange-tinted sports glasses or goggles when going outdoors.
Personality: She maintains a jovial personality around others but quickly goes silent when she is alone. It has been noted by many of her bodyguards that her smile slides off her face as easily as water off glass. She believes in not letting those she has chosen to work with down, but turn back on your end of the deal and she will not be as kind. Even when in the gravest of danger, she still somehow manages to smile, prompting the thought of a mental disorder. Over all, she relies more on her experiences and intuition over reason, which has kept her and her crew alive to this day. She finds the idealistic thoughts of her less-experienced crew members rather amusing, and eggs them to keep that ideology as long as they can keep them, knowing full well that idealism is for kids.
Bio: (Optional)
Notes: Comes with six other crew members.

"Don't trust hired guns; they're even worse than unpaid liars and thugs. A liar will steal your truth, a pickpocket will steal your phone and money, but I, oh, I can steal your pretty face and your heartbeat if you don't obey, little cat."

Name: Keita Otsuka
Bending Element: Fire
Age: 31
Occupation: Ex-soldier; weapons smuggler, freelancer, mercenary, fugitive; generally agrees to being hired for a variety of dirty jobs that require proficiency with weapons and pay well while letting him set things on fire.

Augmentations:
  • Dermal plating; 4 points
  • Rebreather implant; 3 points
  • Cybernetic arm prosthesis, right arm; 2 points
  • Cybernetic hand prosthesis, right hand; 0 points
  • Cybernetic leg prosthesis, right leg; 2 points
  • Retinal prosthesis, left eye; 1 point
  • Retinal prosthesis, right eye; 1 point
  • Retinal Upgrade (Thermovision); 1 point
  • Retinal Upgrade (Cam); 1 point
  • Enhanced cyber-neural interface; 1 point
  • Network chip; 2 points
  • Cochlear implants; 1 point

Appearance: Pretty as a picture after paying a great load of money for it, Keita might look like a female version of a doll now; but he can't mask the fact that he's a soldier, or at least used to be. He stands quite tall at 183 centimeters, and has a physique to be envied, an athletic figure wiry and thick with strands of muscle and sinew, binding around his quite light frame. He isn't exactly square, and he doesn't have the appearance of a strongman, but can be easily distinguished from common 'gym rats'; he is muscled differently from the men that get their figures by lifting weights, perhaps a little bit leaner, and far tougher underneath all his clothes. At least, the parts of him that remain his own; the right side of his body was almost completely replaced synthetically. Both his arm and leg on that side are fully cybernetic, though indistinguishable under military-grade dermal plating that appears much like normal skin, and his shoulderblade bone, collarbone, and most of his ribs on that side had been replaced by synthetic ones as well, just as well as the kidney on that side, and a large part of his liver and right lung. He has very pale skin, with an only slight hint of a cool rosy undertone; that had always been so, even though little of the rest of himself remains the way Mother Nature had given it to him. After taking massive damage, both his eyes had been replaced by cybernetic replacements, and his face was fully reconstructed, given his current beautiful features by the hand of a surgeon. He has almost androgynous features, a chiseled, slightly pointed jaw on a somewhat long, oval-shaped face, a straight, thin nose, and mesmerizing almond-shaped eyes, lined by long lashes and possessing a mesmerizing, beautiful sky-blue hue. His ears are pierced several times along the helix, and his earlobes are stretched by a pair of smooth black circles ('tunnels'), no more than half a centimeter in diameter. The rest of the earrings he tends to change, though they are usually dark rings or sharp studs. His original features were less complimenting; he had a long, solemn face, with narrow, tilted eyes, and a perpetual displeased appearance. His hair, originally a dark amber in color, is very regularly bleached and dyed a particularly vibrant, bright orange, with an almost violet sheen in certain light; it is softly wavy, and long, from the bangs that reach to his chin to the other strands, which can fall back to his shoulderblades. He wears it lavishly casually, usually no more than swept behind an ear or pinned back by a couple of hairpins; when on a job, though, he ties it back. His body is scarred, though, even though he tries to hide it under clothes. At the very back of his jaw, where it connects to his neck, a jagged line of a scar under his hairline can be seen; the worst of all fares the right side of his chest and abdomen, though those discolored patches of skin and long, wide, jagged scars are still considered far better than an urn and a gravestone.
Attire: He has two sorts of clothes - his casual everyday clothes, and the clothes he wears 'on the job'; they are as different as a hen is different from an eagle. His casual clothes are nonchalant, if somewhat careless; he likes to wear baggy and torn jeans, laced boots and sneakers, band T-shirts from the concerts of various rock and indie bands, worn with flannel shirts casually thrown over in place of a jacket, leather jackets... Basically everything that is comfortable and looks at least somewhat fashionable and cool that he can get his hands on. He scoffs at suits and laughs at sweaters, and he cannot tie a tie very well; it's unlikely you'd find him wearing any of that. He prefers dim colors, though his favorite jeans are a dim, washed blue, and his color coordination is somewhat messed up, but not too badly. He likes studded belts and leather bracelets, though he rarely overdoes it with jewelry, if not counting the numerous earrings. In winter, he has a tendency to wear a worn faux fur hat that hides his ears, and a dark green jacket with a deep hood with more fur on its edges. However, his clothes while working are vastly different. He tends to dress in black, grey, and dark green unless required to look like a civilian; those clothes are also layered, but tight on his person as not to get caught on something, and usually consist of dark cargo pants, stuffed into a pair of tightly-laced steel-capped boots, a few layers of tough T-shirts and a leather jacket, zipped at the side. More often than not, he pulls a cap over his hair to make distinguishing him more difficult, a scarf around his neck that can be pulled over his mouth and nose, and a pair of well-fitting leather gloves both for protection, and not to leave any fingerprints anywhere. He quite likes wearing mirror sunglasses, of which he owns several pairs (each with differently colored lens).

Personality: A half-loaded revolver, he's a trigger-happy, unstable, and deranged person. He's a narcissist obsessed with himself, and he's egoistic and selfish; a turncoat that's, if he gains something for himself in the process, willing to switch sides a thousand times in one fight to ensure that he will be on the winning side and take no harm. He forgot all loyalty except for the loyalty to the highest bidder; even then, his own neck is what he prizes the most, and no money can pay him for that. On the outside, he's amiable and friendly, even charming to a point, and appears quite generous and trustworthy; he can be a nice guy, and genuinely polite, though he's much of a troll, prankster, and has a prominent sarcastic humor, prone to striking fun of the things around himself and criticizing them. He has a sharp tongue that he lets go loose, but he also has a talent for smooth talking and distracting people with talk. He's in no way stupid; in fact, he is in possession of a quite formidable cunning, and though he has no desire to be placed in a position of power, as he dislikes responsibility and having to care for other people - who don't concern him - he is well capable of assigning roles and ambush and battle strategies. When calm, he is a formidable foe at the little chess play between criminals and cops. He's confident, presentable, even if he does have a somewhat crude humor and has a tendency to pick on people. He isn't all that easily insulted, at least not as long as he's wearing his public mask, a grinning mask of friendliness and easy approach.
But when he takes it off, there's just that underneath that got him forced to retire many years before his time, what earned him the nickname Flaming Snake - do not call him that into his eyes, though - the caged monster. He doesn't experience contempt for others. He does not trust them, either, and it takes years to earn his trust. He views humans as material things that can be replaced if needed, and he has zero sympathy; even though he's capable of recognizing their emotions - and using that against them - he is incapable of feeling for them. The only person he shows actual emotions to is himself, and that truly makes him a dangerous person, because he has no loyalty to anyone, and this loyalty cannot be rewarded through trust and care. He does all he does for himself, and he doesn't care for the carnage he leaves behind. However, even more terrible than this cold side he hides beneath his his rage and anger. When not needed to uphold his visage - such as in the flurry of a battle, when frenzied by a blood-rage induced by violence - he might become more beast than man, as he's capable of violence and killing with no remorse and mercy. He doesn't enjoy killing or hurting others out of vengeance, but he has no qualms about doing something for the sake of money. Thus, he cannot be truly regarded a psycho... But not a sane person, either.
He's paranoid, and though he does not let it on very often, he mistrusts people and spends a lot of time searching for their weaknesses. And once enraged, he can be a frightening thing; screaming and violent, he's not to be toyed with.

Bio:

Notes: He is a firebender, and a rather good one at that; his other skills include hand-to-hand combat, a proficiency with firearms both for frontline combat and sniping, and parkour, at which he is very good. He can also play the guitar and sing along.

Name: Liang K'ai Shui, spelled with the characters for boiled, cold and water

Bending Element: Water

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Occupation: Pit-fighter

Augmentations:
3: Rebreather Implant
3: Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis for both legs
3: Cybernetic Hand and Arm Prosthesis for both arms
0: Skin Plating

Appearance: A man of average height and a wiry physique, Liang K'ai has a deceptively gentle appearance. While his hair and eyes have a silver-like tone, this is actually not at all the result of cybernetic modification, but instead an established family trait from his father's side.

In spite of concerns regarding practicality, he wears his hair in a moppy and free manner that would seemingly be easy to grab and therefore be a disadvantage in his line of work. That being said, he actually elected to do this on purpose since it means that he'll stay exceptionally alert when fighting in the pits.

Even though his skin is partially artificial, he has plating that makes him appear rather normal unless it's removed. The rest of his organic skin is relatively free of blemishes, and he takes good care of himself in spite of his choice of career.

Attire: Due to his idiosyncrasy manner of dress, Liang K'ai is often readily recognized by those who may have seen him before. Regardless of what kind of business he might be going about, he generally dresses in the same manner and has a flair for elegance.

He wears pants with knee protectors attached to them by way of leg wraps, which also go over his boots. Worn over the top of his pants are a second pair of shorts that provide additional warmth, along with a belted garment over this. He generally wears a shirt inside of this along with a padded covering over his torso. Due to the short sleeves in addition to the fear that his skin plates might be compromised, he has a tendency to wear long wraps up his arms as well.

Long scarves have become something of a trademark of Liang K'ai, and once more while these would seem to be a practical disadvantage he has a tendency to consider pleasing aesthetics to be more important than practicality.

Personality: He's essentially a loner, though he strives from recognition. Knowing full well that his popularity comes from an illegal venue he does keep a relatively low profile, but loves the cheering of fans more than anything else. Liang K'ai is, for all intents and purposes, immature in that he prizes physical attractiveness, fame and money over everything else.

Regardless, though, he has made some personal decisions that have been beneficial. Rather than arguing against transhumanism as many benders have, Liang K'ai doesn't shirk cybernetic implantation itself, but rather networking. He feels that having any type of wetware components or any other neural interfaces is tantamount to asking for one's thoughts to be hacked.

While he consciously realizes that using a regular cyber-neural interface without a spinal modem wouldn't allow someone to be hacked, he still desperately fears a physical link. Essentially, he's become paranoid both of being hacked via a wireless connection, hence he has no modem, and even through a physical link cable, hence he has no cyber-neural interface either.

As a result, his central nervous system as it were is organic and intact and he has only ever opted to receive physical augmentation. That means that while he has completely sacrificed his ability to interface with computers on an intimate level, he isn't going to fall prey to a network hack either. For that matter, he couldn't be hacked if someone placed a cable on him under duress either. While the chances for that type of attack are admittedly slight, he considers it a serious enough problem that he doesn't really ever want to touch his nervous system in that way at all.

Considering his background, one might easily assume that he doesn't enjoy getting close to people for fear that they might eventually meet an untimely demise. While this is somewhat the case, he considers those that he does get close to as though they were his brothers in arms. He has a tendency to take personal relationships very seriously as a result, and would gladly do whatever he could to defend someone in this respect. Rather than judging his decisions based on a black and white slate of morality, Liang instead considers loyalty to be the most important thing when performing an action.

Bio: Originally Liang K'ai grew up in a very classical environment. While he's not an ethnic member of the Water Tribes, there was a Waterbending Kwoon in the city for those who were found to be adept at the art. The instruction at the school was particularly traditional, and he was taught the value of pensive meditation and living free from negative influences.

At that point in his life he never would have imagined doing anything unnatural and couldn't have possibly believed he would ever undergo any form of cybernetic manipulation. He was a healer sort who was capable of defending himself, but truly believed in the value of health of safety.

That was until he learned that those self-defense skills could be put to use in a way that horrified his Waterbending master. Unlike Pro Bending matches, which were legal, sanctioned and carefully monitored, there was an underground fighting ring that promised great fortunes for those who could walk into the pits and come out alive.

Enamored with the promises of big payoffs and never having material want, Liang K'ai quickly found himself falling deeper and deeper into the trap of the pits. He wanted more and that meant that he was going to have to sever ties with his old school. Having gone against everything he stood for he realized that he was going to have to have some modified limbs if he was going to join the hardest-hitters and compete in the underground big leagues.

At first he was ready to jump at every opportunity and only imagined how he could get more and more powerful without the hard work that came with traditional training. That was until he saw one of his partners in the fights go down when a corrupt promoter turned off his neural network midway through a fight. The promoter had money on the other fighter and was going to ensure that Liang's friend was going down, even if it cost him his life.

Vowing never to allow himself to undergo any surgery that would tamper with his physical brainstem and connect him to a greater network, Liang became determined to become stronger though a combination of training and use of his physical enhancements. He made a promise to himself to someday extract revenge for his friend's life, but would rather wait for the right opportunity to strike. He knows that when the time is right he will make sure that his strike is deadly and sends ripples throughout the underworld that he calls his home.

His aloof nature developed in this wake of this, figuring that he had to do everything he possibly could to become better or die trying. It's the reason he has elected to take so many risks: Liang assumes that if he isn't always playing for keeps that he might end up getting soft.

Notes: Despite the fact that he is a skilled Waterbender, he studied under a traditional master who abhorred the idea of manipulating blood. In spite of the fact that he has not always lived the most legal life, Liang would never think to practice this unlawful art and restricts himself to the manipulation of water and the freezing of moisture droplets.

Even though he has taken steps to ensure that he couldn't be hacked by forgoing the advantages that come with a cybernetic neural interface, he is still very vulnerable to the attacks of Firebenders who can manipulate electricity. The impurities in water conduct electricity, and this is a weakness when combined with his prosthetic limbs.

In the back of his mind there may be some guilt over the decision that he made, and Liang might still be loyal to his old school. That being said, this isn't something that he would consciously admit and he might not even realize it himself. That being said, if someone were to threaten someone from his past he might very well be filled with a bloodlust over the fact that they were so threatened.

@Ana, all accepted.

@Aero, your character is fine but you should edit the bits which mention the cyber neural interface; the cyber-neural interface requires a physical link AKA an Internet cable. The only way to hack or be hacked remotely without having a cable would be to have a spinal modem.

Sorry, I actually intended to suggest that my character had gotten somewhat paranoid and feared even a hacking by hardwired connection with a physical link. Should I make that more clearly stated in the writing?

Thank you!

Yeah, you should. It seems to be suggesting that the cyber-neural connection allows one to be connected wirelessly.

I really hope that those edits make it more clearly stated as to what I was trying to do initially. He's afraid of even being locked on with a physical link cable, regardless of how unrealistic such a fear might be, and I stated it in the profile now.

Let me know if there were anything else wrong with it; thanks!

2: Network Chip
2: Spinal Modem modded to be able to be able to create a GUI

Appearance:
Image

The first thing one would note is that she has red hair with a large white streak down the middle. She stands at 1.67m with a medium-small frame. While she is not as well built, she has physical training which has improved her stamina greatly. One would not usually suspect that she is augmented due to the lack of external augmentations on her person, save for the spinal modem which leaves a distinct metallic part at the back of her neck where it meets the body.

As compared to the picture, she does not have a metallic jawline and looks a tad less harmful.
Attire: She associates herself with the color red. She also wears a C-77 exosuit which is normally worn by those who do not wish to be augmented, yet wish to share similar advantages with augmentation. Her exosuit is custom-painted in black with red and white highlights. It offers sufficient protection against small arms but is unable to protect the head or hands. She wears her clothes over the C-77, usually a shirt wit a sleeveless jacket and cargo pants with knee pads. She wears boots as well, regardless of climate she is in.
Personality: She bears a curious and somewhat childish personality on the exterior while in reality she is seething with hate against the government and Equalist organizations. She carries a calculative personality, often acting in ways to control people, also known as social engineering. She likes to take gambles, and would often take unpredictable actions to throw any would-be observers from anticipating her moves.

I'm quite busy these two weeks, I'll try to get the IC up sooner than that though I estimate two weekends from now before I get the IC up.

Is this RP still viable, or have we moved on? I was going to post, but I didn't know if it was a good entry point for my character. At this point, though, it seems like any activity would be pretty nice so I'll go with your blessing zenith.

Go ahead and post. You know the rough idea of what is going to happen in the first scene right?

I was originally assuming that everyone was going to show up to the mall, but maybe I'm missing something. Would you mind cuing me in? Thanks!
