Disclaimer: Before proceeding, you acknowledge that I, the author, does not have much experience or knowledge of the lore of the Avatar universe. I anticipate several misreads on my ideas and would wish to know about them if you would be so kind as to comment.


It has already been almost a century since the technological revolution; the benders were outplayed, rendered obsolete with modern technology, after a long war of attrition against the Equalists.

Even with the Avatar, it was useless, the benders have outstayed their welcome in society and were considered to be destructive and had to go. Things only went downhill after the slaying of the Avatar Spirit in a large offensive push by the security forces. Air, Earth, Water, Fire; All were rendered useless before modern technology and a new age was ushered in that day. The Autumn of Bending.

Those benders that survived, surrendered as their strongholds were breached or captured alive on suspicions of being benders were taken into custody. It was well known that no ordinary structure on the surface would be easy to escape, the environment forgiving which grants them a larger benefit despite being at a disadvantage. So began they began construction of a prison underwater. If the walls were breached, the water would flow inside and trap them, the force too great for any normal bender to be able to maintain his concentration. It was known as the City of Gift and a poison it was.

Within, the benders were expected to die off from insanity, lack of practice in bending preventing them from escaping or resisting ever again. And boy, they could not be any more inaccurate. The benders, encased in water and steel, they have eventually forgotten their practices and as such, they could only begin from scratch, from whatever they could get their hands on without attracting too much attention.

The superheated air within the powerplants; the steel which encases us; the poison within our veins; the current which runs through the prison’s circuits.

The Elements
Molecule Holding: The ability to hold molecules in position to prevent objects from passing through. eg. a blood bender may make a thin sheet of blood to block a corridor which remains in liquid form, yet is capable of stopping bullets.

Plasma:
Heated air, it glows with energy but often requires a build up of at least a few seconds. Incapable of Molecule Holding.

Calm was not a word to describe the Plasma Benders. Prone to bouts of rage and quick slippage of insanity, it was hard for officers to even get a decent read on their thought processes. Thus, fights often broke out and... accidents happened. Plasma Benders should be isolated from other Benders, especially for other Plasma Benders, as they would tend to agitate each other by sharing the same living space and end up being the sole occupant of the cell after the sleep cycle is over. Of course, this was a similarity observed by several cases.

Previously classified as Air Benders, which are only allowed to function in public as

Metal:
Very versatile, can pierce the thickest armor or form the thickest armor. Effective with non-earth metals. Capable of Molecule Holding.

Perhaps appearing to be most normal of all, the Metal Benders do seem to be very capable of working their way out on our terms, that is not to happen of course. They seem to have a tendency of appearing to be cooperative before their captors before doing the opposite later on though. Most of the time, these things are harmless but as always, one should always be warned about liabilities.

Previously classified as Earth Benders, which are only allowed to function in public as

Blood:
Very versatile and dangerous. Can be used to transfer toxins via blood into a targeted bio-system. Capable of Molecule Holding.

In terms of average lack of sanity, after the Plasma Benders, came the Blood Benders. There was an incident where blood leaked into the vents and destroyed several sensors within. When the vents were opened by the maintenance crews, the first person has his face plate sheared into half. They seem to favor terror tactics... something like a cat toying with it's food. Dangerous when they band together. Must be kept separate from each other.

Previously classified as Water Benders, which are only allowed to function in public as

Electricity:
Versatile and effective when dealing with technology. Incapable of Molecule Holding.

Innovative and dangerous, the Electric Benders are usually the cause for a blackout. This is also due to the fact that their Restriction bracelets are probably malfunctioning and should be replaced.

Sadistic*1
Your character salivates at the ultimate knowledge that humans are a little more than bags of fluid. This means your friends too.

Egoist*2
Your character knows he works well. But does he? At least your friends don't know the real answer or try may just give up. Just don't burst his bubble.

Coward*3
Your character's instincts are honed well for escape especially when injured. Of course he may attempt to desert when heat begins to come in.

Assets:
High Pain Threshold*1
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger and your character is still thinking that bullet wound was a punch in the chest.

Lone Wolf*2
Your character only works alone, and he works very well. He doesn't need no appreciation or gratitude from you lot.

Unflinching*3
Your character wouldn't flinch even at gun point, perhaps even utter pleasantries.

Trigger Combinations
*1: Sadomasochistic
Your character loves pain and wants to dish out as much of it out as well. The more injuries he sustains, the less sanity he retains.

*2: Bitter
For every time your character aids someone, his capabilities increase. However on a failure, your character snaps. Either wrecking everything in reach or suffering a severe drop in abilities until the next perceived success.

*3: Dual Personality
Your character whiplashes from cowardice to near suicidal unpredictably.


Cognitive Profile:
Cognitive Stimulator
Capable of stimulating events in one's head, grants larger fighting prowess.

Cognitive Mimic
Capable of imitating targets easily after short amount of observation.

Cognitive Separation
Capable of reducing sensitivity and better managing priorities.

Cognitive Elemental
Capable of sensing one's Element as though it was part of one's body.

Personality: Outside of combat, Kazza is a fairly stable man. He is intelligent with a calm disposition and no outward want to harm others without cause, even if that cause is normally very minor by most peoples point of view. He enjoys experimenting with his abilities on the rare chance that he is able to, but otherwise prefers to stay in quiet contemplation while he observes his surroundings. Once in combat, how ever... He becomes a bit more unstable. He finds enjoyment out of seeing people writhe on the ground from a minor shock up to being completely torn apart and burned by his attacks. The longer a fight goes on, the more frenzied he becomes and the longer it will take for him to calm down.

Personality: As one would expect, he is capable of displaying gratitude. He will help those who has helped him, and attempt to prove those whom he believes to be belittling him. He does not usually have violent outbursts as he knows it would tarnish his image.

Bio: He was born inside Gift Prison, the reasons why any newborn was even allowed to exist still remains a mystery to this day. He is, as a blood bender, exceedingly confident with his abilities and that has caused several prison fights, most of the time with himself as the victor. Since he was young, he has always had an aversion towards pain, a weakness he would never reveal to anyone, knowing that they could easily trample over him if the truth was out.

Gawky and thin, 5'7" tall.
Personality: Childish and malicious. Hana loves to see others suffer, but will more often than not flee if the odds are not in her favor. Mutters to herself a lot. Has a very poor understanding of sarcasm and/or irony.
Bio: Born and raised in the cavernous prison along her 4 older sisters. She has only met them on very rare occasions, being separated and kept away from her parents due to safety issues as soon as possible. Isolation and her bending has made her prone to bouts of hysteria triggered by the smallest things.
Triggers; Assets: Dual personality.

Edit: Fleshed her out a teensy bit more with minor additions to appearance and personality.

Appearance: Juro is physically unassuming. He is short and more than a bit gangly; his eyes brown and his hair black.

Personality: Juro is an unabashed schemer. One of his greatest joys in life is to watch countless pieces fall into place, preferably without anyone the wiser. To his great frustration, many of these plans fail. But when they succeed, it's a thing of beauty. He avoids direct confrontation when possible, believing it to be needlessly dangerous and inefficient. If said avoidance becomes impossible, however, he is reasonably practiced at turning threats into slag (or charred meat, whichever is appropriate) via bending. He is rather sensitive about his failure rate; it is best not to mention such things. To him, Gift Prison is simultaneously the ultimate wrong to be avenged and the greatest challenge he has ever had the pleasure of facing.

Appearance: light brown hair, burgundy colored eyes, Olive toned, sturdy build.
Personality: Nitesh is what you would call a Zen person. She isn't looking for a fight but she do her best to finish, either with her words or her fists. Despite her zen attitude she is a bit off then most resident's of the Gift prison. She smiles and laughs and is all around pleasant as long as you don't mind a slightly jabbering laughing fool or the chanting monk.
Bio: Nitesh had been barely a teen when she was sent to the Gift prison. Separated and alone she was determined to not have her light snuffed out. So she spends her day laughing mostly to herself or plainly at other's it varies. But as she grew within the metal walls she began to be at the metal does withstand and conform into anything she wants to be.
