A forgotten crime OOC (Fearless, Shades)

Concept: A young lady comes to a private detective for help figuring out a crime she may or may not have committed.

Name: Joanna Allerton
Age: 23
Profession: Secretary for a banker.
Background: Born and raised in a small town in Texas, Miss Allerton always dreamed of a bright future, and Los Angeles seemed like the ideal place to build it. In getting there, it was clear things were harder than they seemed, and the girl had to be content with a job and a modest apartment. Being the private - very private, perhaps - secretary of a wealthy banker provided Joanna with a not-too-bad life, and even some extra money to send back home for mother.

It was a mild, normal and quiet life... at least until a very exclusive party in one of the Hollywood mansions...

Biography:
Born in a small town some way from L.A., Jonathan was, as many others before him, enchanted by the possibilities of the city. Actually making a living there proved difficult, however, and after many minimum-wage, dead end jobs, and just as many unsuccessful job hunts, he settled for renting the lower floor of a two storey former bakery owned by his aunt to set up his own business.

Having always had a keen intuition, Jonathan decided to follow his childhood dream, which had recently been popularized by the new pulp magazines, and nose around in things that really did not concern him for money. That little "J. Anderson, Private Detective" sign has been up on the front door for three years now. Although no big cases have made their way towards him yet, Jonathan remains ever hopeful.

It's from a little later than our RP, and I'm not totally sure of how legit it is, but here it is: A list of '30s slang.
