(Set in 2014 - Ebony Wood is a godforsaken forest that looms over the town of Corvus Falls. What lurks in Ebony Woods? Why are there those that enter it and are never seen from again? Will a small group of adults be able to uncover this mystery behind the horror? Come and see....if you dare MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (lightening cracks - thunder roars)

The House of Ebony Woods

Bonnie shivered at the very sight of the woods, they always filled her with a dread that she doubted would ever truly go away. Her apartment complex was at the edge of the woods, and even though there was a great big metal fence separating the parking lot from the woods, Bonnie still couldn't help but get extremely nervous every time she came 'home'. Pulling her BMW into park, she got out and grabbed at her purse, her doe eyes staring nervously around. It was a late night at the cafe, she hated being out this late. Her down stairs neighbor, Mr. Patters, sat out in his little porch area. With a pipe in hand, he took another deep inhale before nodding his head to Bonnie. His beady eyes staring out at the woods, watching them as well. Bonnie liked Mr. Patters, even though others found him rather strange. He had worked in the police force for years, he was retired now but Bonnie still felt safer having him live near by.

Marching up the steps, Bonnie tried to walk on the balls of her feet. Her father was always getting on to her about walking quietly and observing her surroundings. He was a military brat who ran his house hold the same way his father ran his. After Bonnie's brother died seven years ago, the family had turned into a closed net that Bonnie sometimes found suffocating. Her apartment was like a breath of fresh air from everything, her family, her job, the town....

She hit the lights on her way in, illuminating her apartment in bright hues, then quickly latched the door behind her. Safety, security, freedom. Kicking off her shoes, Bonnie moved over to the stereo and cranked up some tunes. Her cat, Star, hopped around her feet ready for some dinner.

"I know baby, I know. Came home a little late tonight huh?" She moved into the kitchen and got Star some kitty nip. It was as she was leaning over the counter trying to decide over a pot pie or a sandwich that Bonnie's eyes crossed over her mail. She had had a busy morning, she had only had enough time to collect the mail and toss it on the counter before work, not even knowing what was inside it. It was the town symbol, the Raven, that caught her eye now. A perfectly etched black Raven was drawn on corner of the envelope where the return address should have been. Her name was written across the front in elegant penmanship.

Curious, Bonnie grabbed the envelope and went out onto her balcony with a bottle of chocolate milk. She could smell Mr. Patters tobacco from down below, letting her know that he was still out on his porch. She settled into her sun chair and opened the milk, as she took in the peaceful night. It was quiet and smelled like rain. Incoming clouds were just starting to cover up the starry sky, filling the world with a peaceful sense of enchantment that Bonnie had always enjoyed. She closed the cap over her milk and opened the letter.

Dear Ms. Bonnie Gregory,

You have been formally invited to join us at Ebony Manor for an All Hollow's Eve gathering. We welcome you to our humble assembly in hopes that those who hunger in curiosity, may finally allow their appetite to be subsided. Please join us. We will be expecting you at fifteen after the eight o'lock hour.

RSVP - Not necessary.

Sincerely,
Host.

Bonnie slid the letter down with an odd feeling in her stomach. It was almost as if a gigantic hole had begun to form in the pit of her belly. She stared at the letter over and over again, feeling a loss of reality. A slam brought her back to Earth with a jump.

She looked frantically side ways at her neighbors balcony. "Hey hot mama," said Chris, her bleach blonde neighbor. His roommate Antony was just coming out with a case of beers. The slam had been their sliding glass door being opened. "Care to join us senorita?"

Bonnie stood up and shook her head. She needed to be alone. "Sorry boys, not tonight". The looks they gave her were like two little boys who had been told there would be no Christmas. She felt her heart break for them but she really needed to be alone. "Tomorrow" she promised and stepped back inside, closing her sliding door behind her.

Bonnie's thinking place was her bath tub. She went to it and began filling it up with boiling water and soap. As it bubbled she looked at the note again...and again...and again. She set it aside long enough to light a few candles and get into the water...then she looked at it again. There was something about this note, something outside its invitation, that was nagging at her. As she slid back into the water, watching the candle light around her dance, she tried to put herself in a more open mind set. To clear her thoughts the way her father always made her do in the past when she meditated. There was something so off about that letter....She closed her eyes....and she breathed....

Bonnie was 15 when she heard Daniel sneak out of the house. It was two weeks before Halloween and Bonnie had been up sneak reading a scary book. As he passed by her room she quickly turned off her flash light, fearing it was her father but when he kept walking it piked her interest. Sliding into some boots, Bonnie followed her brother out of the house. Her feet padded loudly over red and orange leaves as she followed her brother to Ebony Wood but he was too distracted singing to himself to actually hear her. She loved that about Daniel, that he liked to sing aloud regardless of where he was, he was going to be famous some day, she just knew it. Finally Daniel stopped walking as he met up with some friends. They were going further into the woods, further then Bonnie liked the idea of going. She watched them from a distance until they broke through a line of trees that was far too far. It was always too far when it came to Ebony Woods. After waiting awhile longer little Bonnie was just about to turn back around and walk away when she heard a heart stopping roar break through the woods. It came out of no where and made Bonnie scream. More screams bounced back to her. Bonnie took off into the woods in the direction that she had seen her brother go but what she found waiting for her there would haunt her....forever.

Bonnie's eyes flew open. She sat up and stared at the note that she had set on the floor. She grabbed at one of her fuzzy pink towels and wrapped it around her as she sat on her bath tub edge and took up the note again. Sure enough her answer was staring at her plain in the face. "Oh my god" she breathed. The candle to Bonnie's right flickered eerily. Bonnie stared at it a moment then got up and raced for her phone.

She knew the number she would call by heart. "Hey, you home? Can you come over?"

Charlie lived on the other side of town away from Ebony Woods. She had grown up listening to stories about how people went in and never came out. She never believed in any of it, she thought it was just childs play, until her best friends brother never came out that is.

She didn't live too far away from the local animal shelter so she walked back and forth from work. When Charlie got upstairs to her apartment and her cat jumped into her arms she smiled.
"Hey baby boy!" The cat purred. He was a cute Lynx-Point Siamese, he was white with black and tan stripes. His eyes were bright blue and he was cross eyed. He was indeed her little baby. She gave the kitty a few kisses to the forehead before setting him down along with her bag and locking the door. She went to the kitchen and fed her cat before reaching back out and getting her mail. She found an envelope and opened it immediately. It read that she was invited to a party in the Ebony Woods. She shrugged and thought about if she was going to go or not.

A few moments later, Charlie was taking a shower and afterwards she stepped out. She loved the steam that was around her and she let out a satisfied sigh.

Charlie jumped softly when she heard her phone ring. She put her slippers on her feet and walked out to the living room. When she heard it was Bonnie she smiled.

"Of course, I'll be right over. See you in a minute." She hung up the phone and started to get dressed. She just braided her long hair, grabbed her keys and went to the lot and drove off towards her friends apartment.

Once getting there she walked up the stairs and knocked on the door to Bonnie's apartment. Somehow, Charlie always had a smile on her face. No matter how bad a scenario she was in, Charlie always managed to have a smile on her sweet face.

Bonnie paced over the tan carpet of her living room, she was bare footed so she concentrated watching the veins of her feet as they bulged a little with each step. She had opened the sliding glass door to let a little night air in but this turned out to be a little hassle as it made the curtains and couch fabric flutter about every now and again. The moment would start up, she'd jump and turn on it as if it were an intruder, realize there was no harm and go back to pacing until something moved again. Finally she gave up hope with the pacing and started making up cocoa, then tacos...anything to stop her wandering eyes from going back to that offensive letter that sat on her kitchen counter.

She was just mixing the taco meat when something tugged at the edge of her pajama pants. She turned quickly, spoon at the ready, until she realized the culprit was not at eye level but ankle level. Star was playing with the flowing hems of the dark blue material. "Star", Bonnie warned, which instantly made the cat stop. Star could always tell when Bonnie was not in the mood to play, this is what made Bonnie love her, she got her. Bonnie used to not be an animal person, she figured she could hardly look after herself during her dark times, why would she want to burden another living being with her problems? Then Charlie, her best friend, started working at the animal shelter. Next thing Bonnie knew she was getting roped into adopting the sibling cat to Charlie's. It was odd though, the moment Bonnie laid eyes on Star she instantly felt a connection to the little puss.

She bent down and stroke Star, before standing back up to turn the stove off. Charlie would be there any moment....any moment....any moment....Bonnie was always the impatient type. She proceeded to pace once more until the night air became too cold for her bare arms. She stormed into her room and tossed open the closet, seeking her favorite gray sweater. She knew she left it somewhere in there...where oh where. Her closet was not up to par, as her father would put it. Finally she found it on her closet floor and yanked it up into her arms, thats when she saw it....her brother's old baseball cap. Bonnie stared at it for a moment, the icy feeling in her stomach starting up again. That cap, his favorite cap. Her mother had brought it over to her three weeks ago. Her parents had been cleaning out the attic and found some of his old things. They knew how much that cap meant to him. Laying there on the floor, it reminded Bonnie of that horrible night again...

Bonnie raced forward blindly through the forest. The darkness swallowed everything that was more then a foot away from her. "Daniel!" she screamed out in fear, her breath coming out in huge puffs. The soaked grass was seeping through her sneakers, making Bonnie's feet turn to ice. She hadn't grabbed a jacket on her way out the door, now, shivering she wished she had. "Daniel!" She kept running, swearing that she was hearing the screaming from this direction, then from that direction, then from this direction again. With a shaking jaw she tried to scream his name again. Then she saw the hat...his hat. It was laying there in the mud. She bent down and grabbed at it in confusion, Daniel loved this hat, he'd never leave it behind. Clenching it in her little fists she looked up, hoping to see her brother standing there but what she saw was far worse. It was hunched over a body, a dark shadow that had an odd shape. Bonnie watched it, frozen, as a slurping sound reached her ears. What ever the shadow was doing to the girl at its feet, Bonnie knew that she was witnessing something monstrous. She gasped out in surprise, which made the creature turn to face her. Its red eyes looked right through her...then it lunged.

The police would find Bonnie in the morning, laying practically frozen to death just on the edge of Ebony Wood. The baseball cap still clenched in her fist. All and all she was mostly just bruised, nothing too serious, except for a strange shaped bite mark on her left hip. The papers would say it was wolves, after all the town could come up with no better explanation. Bonnie would be known as the lucky girl, and as for the other children involved in the 'Ebony Wood massacre', none else survived. Their's would be names sitting on a stone wall in the school library.

Tears began to stream down Bonnie's face, tears she hadn't shed in seven years. She hated Ebony Wood, she hated everything about it and now someone was trying to invite her back into it...

There was a knock on her front door, Bonnie knew it was Charlie. She wiped at her eyes and yanked on the sweater, then stuck her chin up the way she always did when she was trying to hide her feelings. Walking back down the hall with a purpose, Bonnie pulled open her front door, "Hey sexy, come on it."

She waited till Charlie was inside before latching the door again. The sound of her neighbors music played faintly in the background, as Bonnie set the food on the living room coffee table. She never bothered to buy a real table, it always drove her father nuts when he came over and saw the coffee table. This thought made her smirk ever so faintly as she wrapped up a soft taco and took a bite. She knew Charlie would want to know why she was being summoned here in the middle of the night, but like the great friend she was, she wouldn't pry until Bonnie was ready...would she ever be ready?

"How was work today Charlie?"

Denise was trying to improve herself, since her sister had caught her smoking pot before. Her sister's friend Laura had been working as a candy striper, so she decided to try that out. It was something to help people out after all. What she didn't count on was meeting this guy that she was getting a crush on. It seemed like such a short romance then all of a sudden he was gone. She read in the newspaper, about something terrible happening to him. It seemed like in investigating the mysterious deaths that were going on, he had headed to a empty warehouse. His body was found there, his face was sheer white and the police had no idea how he died. If they didn't know better, they would think it was because he was scared to death. But that was ridiculous wasn't it? She was walking down the sidewalk, near the house of Bonnie making her way towards the hospital to do her job. After that death of Trevor, she needed to do something to get her mind off of that. She thought she heard a loud scream coming in the direction of the house. She thought, maybe she shouldn't get involved in whatever was going on. She wiggled the door knob, trying to see if the door was unlocked. She yelled loud, and began knocking on the door with a big force.
"Hello, is something wrong in there? Can I help in any way?"
Nobody had screamed in the house, so why had she heard one? Perhaps Denise had a sense that she never knew about until now.

Charlie sat at the couch and wrapped up a taco. She took a bite and chewed before speaking.

"It was pretty good." Charlie thought for a second. "Oh! You know that puppy we rescued a few months ago? He finally got adopted." She smiled and took another bite.

She was happy for the puppy. Charlie was working hard for the longest time to find that puppy a home. Her boss was almost ready to put him down, but not before a young girl who reflected Charlie's personality immediately got attached to the dog and brought him home. She smiled at the thought. She loved animals, always have an always will. But nothing compares to seeing a happy little kid leave an animal shelter with the pet of their dreams. She was snapped out of her daze when a loud knock was at the door. She looked at Bonnie and stood, she walked to the door and was faced with another woman. She looked oddly familiar but she just couldn't put a name to the face.

"Yes can I help you?" She asked softly. Charlie was always a sweet girl, but Bonnie knew better than anyone. Charlie was sweet on the surface and a bit inside, but her insides were mostly made of sarcastic and snide remarks. But that was only if she was tested or **** off at someone. Charlie may look fragile and dainty on the outside, but she has a killer right hook.
