The year is: 8567
Location of attack: Osmaria, Tearsia base
Time of attack: 0900 hour (9am)
Current time: 0730 hour (7:30am)

---

Osmaria is a densely populated urban zone. It doesn't belong to any known governments and tends to house a lot of rebels or simply people looking to get away from the regime of a government. The Coalition doesn't particularly like Osmaria since they tend to house a lot of shady folks. A lot of stolen goods go through Osmaria, but since it's hard to pinpoint any 'real criminal behaviour' Osmaria has been safe from Coalition destruction for quite some time. It's well known by Pirates, Runners and especially known to house a large civilian Tearsia population.

Osmaria doesn't have a single 'race' that is predominant, you will find all races coexisting in partial harmony. With no actual 'law enforcement agency' the law is made by the people. So most people just tend to life and let live. Ignoring what goes on around them on Osmaria is wise if you don't want to be dragged down into the troubled times...

As such Osmaria is a crowded low ground city. Similar to this: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/227/c/8/Sci_fi_city_by_HeavenlyDeamonic.jpg. Where streets tend to pile up one on top of the other and the city itself is layered upon each other. There are no 'single level' dwellings or houses on Osmaria, it's all three to six story tall buildings if not higher. The highest part of Osmaria is the main Tearsia base, and also their main port system for incoming and outgoing ships.

The Tearsia base itself has a large three teared hangar style port. The upper levels are for the larger Star class vessels that wouldn't fit inside the hangar itself. Those sit on the roof of the base with lifts to take people down into the central base and from there to the city itself. The second levels are for the interplanetary class vessels, or smaller star class vessels that can easily enter the main hangar bays of the port and land safely on large open ground. This level like the upper level is completely autonomous and operated by machines and AI. The lower level is for the unspace worthy vessels and the smaller interplanetary class vessels and is operated by manual labour since the ships tend to be on a smaller scale and at ground level.

From the outside the main and lower level openings look like this. The outside of the building also looks much like this: http://digital-art-gallery.com/oid/106/1600x960_18422_Base_station_2d_illustration_sci_fi_city_spaceships_picture_image_digital_art.jpg

The majority of the bases living space, storage spaces, recreational spaces and eating places are located in the lower levels bellow the planets surface. This offers some protection against attacks and should in theory buy time for an evacuation of the base itself. On the main levels are the public spaces and stores that cater to every need. There are also main Tearsia meeting rooms along the first and second upper levels.

The hallways tend to look like this: http://images7.alphacoders.com/344/344874.jpg with the main control rooms of the Tearsia Osmaria ports looking like this: http://eat3d.com/files/forum_images/ev04.jpg. You can see the clear contrast between the public areas which are more streamlined and look much nicer to the more industrial/practical look of the 'working zones'.

The main central control room where everything in the Tearsia base and most of Osmaria's systems are controlled from looks like this: http://th06.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2012/238/7/2/hunger_games___control_room_by_rahll-d5cjkay.jpg This is where Eduian goes too to set off the main central alarm system...

As you can clearly tell Osmaria is a high tech area, level 5, though there are low tech areas they are more in the slums of Osmaria and not in it's main central zones.

---

Eduian was startled awake by the sharp shrill beeping that seemed to be permeating his brain. His eyes blinked open slowly. He gazed around the sparse room that held no sign of personality except for a neatly packed backpack that rested against the desk and a large reader set on the desk itself. His PD was set next to it. Squinting in the darkness of his room he pushed himself up and stumbled sleepily over to the device. He pressed his thumb over the delicate screen and answered the call that had woken him.

“What?” Eduian groused, not very diplomatic, but he was tired darn it and he did not want to be awake this ruddy early. Not after only being allowed to get to sleep at 0600 hour. He looked down briefly to see the time. 0730. Ugh, barely an hour of rest. Was there no break to be caught? Seriously? He was so terribly annoyed now. He hated timezones so much.

“Do not respond on this frequency. The line is not secure. Attack is immanent. Evac the civs and get the forces mobilizing.” A voice Eduian recognized as Skar Akarianous sounded loud and slightly slurred with a thick accent over his PD link. He glowered down at the now dark screen. So much for details and information. Eduian was definitely NOT amused now. Eduian had met the Aridian male only a few times in the past, and they didn’t really consider themselves friends. So why of all people was Skar contacting him?

duh moron it’s because he knowns your on Osmaria, idiot, Eduian thought as he changed and threw the reader into his bag, slug it over his shoulder and grabbed his PD strapping it to his wrist. He headed to command. Eduian blamed sleep dep for his current lack of cohesion. Yah that was it.

The command center of the Tearsia base on Osmaria was a huge affair set up in a circle around the room with all manner of monitoring technology. As the base was open to anyone wishing to dock it was manned twenty-four-seven. Since a lot of the Ash Shards (Pirates) tended to use Tearsia bases as waylay points or restocking stations security was always a little higher in their bays then on most planets. Mostly the Tearsia didn’t check cargo or ask for any form of manifest, which meant they never knew what was flying through their bases. It somewhat bothered Eduian that for all he knew half the ships docked in the bay contained all manner of illegal cargo, but as a rebel organization the Tearsia tended to buy a lot of supplies from pirates so really this shouldn’t bother Eduian. Even though the Ash Shards were a really dangerous bunch that he personally avoided.

Eduian flicked on the alarm. Sending off a loud blaring sound that filled the room instantly. It would fill the rest of the base with it’s loud infuriating tempo and was sure to disrupt everyone’s day. Hopefully they would be able to evacuate the civs in time. Yet somehow he doubted that.

---

Skar had been reviewing the databases on his reader checking to see if the Coalition was planning any major strikes against the Tearsia or really anyone else for that matter. Those were only lightly encrypted, which was really stupid. Seriously the Coalition really aught to up their security, any child could hack their system and filch files. Maybe that was why Skar tended to spend a lot of his free time undermining them? He really didn’t know, outside of the fact that even though it was his ancestors who had started up their organization to end the brutal war, Skar wasn’t fond of the military organization that was specialized in destruction of innocents and who like to torture and enslave it’s citizen. Torture wasn’t Aridian. They didn’t believe in any form of Torture. That alone was one of the biggest reasons that Skar stood against them, even knowing his father would probably have something to say about that. Good thing Skar avoided the man.

Skar pulled up recent termination agreements and growled low in his throat. Damnation they were going for a civilian base on Osmaria, the majority of the people there were non military. He felt his anger begin to mount slowly as he pulled out his PD. He clicked it on and started to skim his contacts. Only one person he knew for certain was on Osmaria, Eduian. He clicked the link on and when he heard the ever annoyed voice growl sleepily at him he laughed.

“Do not respond on this frequency. The line is not secure. Attack is immanent. Evac the civs and get the forces mobilizing.” he said quickly and clicked off the PD link before a trace could be made. He rose from his seat shut down his reader and headed to the bridge of his ship. They would need support and he’d be damned if he sat out the fight for any reason.

With reflexes born of long training, he eyes immediately popped open as soon as he heard the alarms blaring through the station his ship was currently docked at. The woman next to him just groaned slightly covering her head with a pillow but he stood quickly and called out to the computer "Put ship on Yellow alert and call all crew to stations. Call Siara."
A semi-transparant screen popped up in front of him and soon a sleepy looking cat woman appeared but her eyes widened a little when she saw him and she whistled.
"Well hello there captain, nice to "see" you so early." She looked him up and down admiring his very naked frame.
"We don't have time for your teasing. I need to know the exact situation so hurry up and find out why the alarm is going off."
"Will do captain." She saluted and the screen flickered off. He turned and strode to the wardrobe, quickly pulling on some clothes.
"What's going on?" The woman said sluggishly.
"I'm going to find out but I want you to get the hell out and go home quickly." He said coldly and she gasped in shock.
He left started to leave and she threw her pillow at him but he continued without turning back.
He made his way to the bridge of his ship "Silver Dragon" passing a few hurrying crewmembers who when seeing him hurriedly gave him a quick salute before continuing on to where they were going. They knew being where they were supposed to be was more important than formalities.

***
meanwhile after the conversation Siara quickly hurried to a console and looked up the chatter on the network to try and find out what exactly was going on. An evacuation order had gone out but there weren't any details. She hacked into the bases database to try and listen in on the chatter from the higher ups.

Mystique was in her office and doing an inspection of her farm. She was a hands on type person but she had to gather information from her workers about various areas and it was much more efficient to do by her round office.

Image

"Juan, what is the status report for the tomatoes? Send it immediately to the round office immediately. " She called each supervisor and before 10 minutes had passed the reports started coming in complete with each plot that was under that supervisor. She had them up on her wide screen monitor in comparison mode. She had instituted a contest between the supervisors with a surprise gift in store for one of them.

Mystique looked at all of the reports and came to a conclusion that Manuel was the clear loser....... And he was a favorite of hers! All is fair in love and war. His plots were not up to par let alone superior to any of the others. She reached for the company mike.

"All Garden Staff, please report to the Round Conference room immediately." she clicked off and went to the door way to wait for her Garden Staff to arrive. Once everyone was place, Mystique walked up to the podium. She had a broad smile on her face.

"Manuel, please step forward. I have reviewed the results of the reports of the crops. I also have the results of the first contest." she began as Manuel stepped forward only to have guards surround him.
"Manuel, you are the first loser of this contest. Catch!"
Mystique threw an old leather boot at Manuel who caught it with wide unbelieving eyes as the guards literally picked Manuel up by his elbows and carried him out of her sight but not out of her hearing

"But you said that I was the best!........" came floating back at her.

"I have one remaining boot to give out so I'd suggest that you had better get busy before you win the next award." she snapped at the rest of the Gardeners who scurried off with pushing and shoving to get back to work before anyone else just in case that was one of the criteria of the contest. Plenty fo time to talk later......

Mystique smiled as she watched them jostling each other to get out of the door. Now she had the headache of reorganizing the plots to new heads that were left. Of course she would do this fairly and use it as a reward or perhaps an added benefit?
Mystique went back inside her office where she began to go through the reports more thoroughly and her guards knew that she was not to be disturbed under no circumstances.

Database hack revealed:

Coalition fleet is mostly made of orbital crafts designed for space to surface missile strikes. The direct target is Tearsia’s base. Osmaria isn’t under thread as a whole. The attack is strictly against the Tearsia and anyone caught leaving her base of operations. Standard protocol for the attack is a small fleet of fighters to corral the base and prevent escape. Standing issue order: destroy Tearsia’s base and kill anyone caught escaping. Show no mercy, take no prisoners.

---

Zir’frah or Zir as he was better known leaned back against the wall watching the rhythm of the gyrating bodies around him. The sway and dance. The way they moved. It was all so strange for him. He had always found it fascinating how other races could move in ways that he found positively strange. Zir’s thoughts were completely scattered at the present time. Lost and adrift. Rarely did he ever wander away from the ship. The Silver Dragon had become his home and his haven. Usually he was working his magic on her and tuning anything that needed it or fixing something before it broke and left them stranded. Yet this time he’d been ordered to and he was quoting enjoy life a little something he was always being told. Zir was always working. It didn’t matter what time it was or where he was. He was always in the engine bays working away on something. He never went out or had much of a social life. Heck if it wasn’t for occasional meals he’d never even know any of the crew.

So here he was in a club. One of those high end male only clubs, you know the ones, he let a rare smile curve his lips. Maybe he’d get lucky. No sooner had he thought that then an exquisite looking male came up to him leaning against the table next to him and purred.

“Hi handsome, you alone tonight?” The man’s voice was deep and sultry. It like the male promised a wicked time. Zir was about to respond when his PD strapped to his wrist buzzed loudly he sighed. Great. So much for a hot date.

“Sorry love, work calls,” and with that Zir started towards the entrance. He had to be careful so no one would step on his tentacles as he moved. Every limb flowed over the ground propelling him quickly to the row of inner city transports. He flicked the screen on and read the message. Some sort of alarm was blaring and they were on yellow. He started swearing. Just his luck. He got in and held up a card to the driver. “Get me to the base faster then you’ve ever gone before and I’ll make it worth your while. Screw with me and I’ll kill you,” Zir said in a deadly tone.

Maybe it was the promise of money, or maybe it was his thread. Zir didn’t know and he didn’t care. All he knew is he made it there quicker then expected. He ran to the bridge to start up the engineering panels and get the ship prepped for launch, form his end anyways. Darin would still have to do any flight checks that were required. Zir looked over and spotted Darin, “Hey boss, what’s the deal man?”

---

Eduian slumped back into a seat and surveyed the monitors. The number and volume of messages being flooded towards his system was incredible. There was no way he could answer them out. There was however, one way he could insure everyone was informed. At least everyone would know an emergency was happening. He quickly pulled up the database and entered in his code drawing up the main nav file he opened an alert sequence and started typing out a quick note that everyone with a PD, so pretty much everyone that was on Osmaria who happened to be a part of the Tearsia would see.

The Coalition is sending a serious threat to attack the base. Evacuation is mandatory. All civilian population of the base are to head for the tunnels bellow the base unless you are part of a crew and wish to evac utilizing your ship. This is highly advised. We formally request that any ship capable of battle stall the enemy to give everyone on base a chance to evac. Utilize drill 93

Drill 93 was a formal evacuation route that was designed specifically to empty the whole of the Tearsia base in such a manner that offered the most protection for everyone. It forced all personnel and civilians into the lower tunnels and into the underground passage that led from the base to an exit point in midtown of Osmaria’s market district. If the personnel kept their heads and managed to keep the civilians from panicking mass chaos might be avoided. Eduian could only hope. He looked around him as everyone in the room got the message and stared at him.

“Go,” was all he said. He had more bussiness to attend to. If he didn’t get it done, he’d never manage to save as many lives as he could. Right now that was his goal. He pulled up the list of local medics who were listed as Tearsia members and began to write up a message that they would all receive.

We are under attack, the casualties and injury rate is expected to be high. Everyone who is able to help treat and shelter civilians and Tearsia members is requested to bring whatever aid they can. We are evacuating the base through the lower tunnels. Exit in midtown. Set up there.

He sent the message and rose finally. Shutting down the database he opened up all launch doors and released all latching clamps from every ship in the bay. This would prevent them from having to request launching codes. He just hopped that everyone was smart enough not to launch into each other.

Darin sat in the command chair as the crew hurried to their stations getting the ship ready for whatever he decided. He sat leaning on his hand as he studied his pd with his other hand when Siara came in and hurried over. He straightened and put the pd down on his lap as he looked at her. "report," he said shortly.
"The higher ups are being pretty open about the attack so it wasn't long before they gave out the evac order with more details but with the hack it looks like only the base itself is the target, though anyone trying to leave the planet by ship will also be shot." Siara said.
"hmm, I..." he started but Kir came in about then and asked him what was going on. He smiled slightly. "You look a bit rushed Kir did your r&r get interrupted? Anyway, The base is under attack and anyone who tries to leave will be shot so what should we do, do you think?" He looked at both of them putting both of his elbows on his knees and leaning his head in his hands in a nonchalant pose as if he had all the time in the world and the decision wasn't really his.

Mystique backed up all of the reports then gathered all of the reports of the last period to add to the back up disk because she wanted to do a comparison chart of her supervisors. Her next disk was of her animal farms. She was trying to figure out how to make the animals more profitable without any drug enhancers. She began to tap the desk when a flashing Emergency Warning blocked all the screens.
She was not please but what could she do but obey the command......

She opened the main mike and sent a warning buzzer over the PA system before she spoke crispy

"I have an announcement to make from the Military Sector. I will read it as I receive it.

Utilize drill 93.

I am releasing everyone from their duties as soon as you have put away your gear. You will be paid for you normal hours since this is beyond our control. Be safe and I shall expect you back on a normal shift as soon as the emergency is over. That is all."

Mystique clicked the mike off and started to pack up her things when she noticed another message was flashing on her screen.

"Damnation! Why would they need a midwife? I am not even doing many deliveries any longer.......
Gene! Gather all the medical supplies that we have immediately! I have to respond to this emergency situation. I need to leave ASAP." she yelled as she slammed her briefcase on her desk and started to pack her laptop and backup batteries as well as her back up work disks.

Zir’frah regarded his boss and quirked a rare smile. Something that made his black razor sharp fangs flash. This would be fun after all. He regarded the only man he let call him Kir. Anyone else who tried that would meet with a knife in the kidney quickly. He wasn’t a tolerant man when it came to his name. Especially not when he was in a corner.

“Yah you ungrateful worm you called me back right when the fun was starting. You cost me a hot date Dar hope this will be worth it. Cuze if we die I’m so going to come back from hell to haunt your ass!” Zir said darkly. His accent was so thick that most of the words slurred together, anyone who was use too his speech would have an easy time understanding him anyone not used to it would struggle to understand him. His eyes narrowing to points. Their glow intensifying. He thought for a moment.

“Well.... I could always cross the shields and dampeners into the hyperdrive and retro engines. I can cut our generating time down to about 3 seconds rather then the typical ten with safeguards. And I can crossfeed the controls to full manual. You’ll have greater maneuverability, but no computer to prevent you from destroying something. So you’ll have to listen to the feedback system and rely on your piloting skills. Might be a short trip otherwise. Also if you enter the Hyperspace window without the shields restored to full strength well disintegrate also ending the trip rather short,” he said his face turning serious, “depends you trust me Dar?” He replied. His voice no longer holding the earlier teasing. This was business and it was serious, it wasn’t time to play around.

---

Eduian finished and rose. He looked at the monitors and felt his breath leave him. People were running in every directions. Children were screaming and crying. There wasn’t any order to the madness down there. He swore. If someone didn’t take charge they were going to have mass casualties. Civilians were simply not prepared for emergencies like this and the base was full of Civilians. A lot of shops and operations of the regular port side was done by the Civilians and some even lived on base. Transports had come in earlier with tourists, families and people relocating.

Eduian turned away from the monitors and turned on the channel on his PD. “Efran, take your unit to sector E-9-level-10 get those people moving. Anyone who causes problems is to be arrested. We have no time to deal with people wanting to save their business. Their lives are at stake.” I’ll never understand people, Eduian thought as he rushed through the empty upper levels. The bay was filling up quickly, but that was organized. He wasn’t needed there. The military commanders would get that one sorted. The E-9 sector was the business districts and those levels were where the thick of civilian population was. He repeated his instructions for levels 9 to 1 in sector E-9 with the various security teams he knew would respond to his commands.

Eduian exited the lifts on level 1 of sector D-3. The residential sector that housed any Civilians who were on permanent residence. The problem here were the children who were in their chambers usually online doing their schooling. Eduian grabbed the first guard captain he saw and ordered the man to sweep each apartment. Making sure to get any of the older children to lead the younger ones. This was the danger zone. That was why he was here personally. To oversee this part of the evacuation. He looked down at his PD and noted the time. 0840. They didn’t have long now till the attack began.

“I need an update from outside,” Eduian said into the open channel. Hopping that someone in the market district would pick up his call and respond with an update on the chaos he knew was out there. He closed his eyes as he listened to the noises around him. So few adults where here. He opened his eyes and looked around as the corridor began to fill with children from 17 to infants being held by older children. This was the only thing that terrified Eduian. Getting them out of harms way. Damnation. If this base was hit now they would be trapped down here. Eduian hated this above everything else. The Tearsia was at war with the Coalition, but they were also a peaceful organization who worked with the populace of planets to better their lives unlike the Coalition which just gave down laws and let the governments and fat bureaucrats do what they will so long as they did what the Coalition wanted. The few adults down here were much more organized then those he’d seen above. This was about the only good sign he’d seen.

Mystique was ready to go when Gene came with a go cart. The go cart was fully loaded and a trailer behind it was full as well.

"I took the liberty of raiding the snack supplies so that we have snacks to give out. I also brought Jon with me to help in crowd control. I thought that he could be in charge of the snacks as well as lifting any heavy injured persons which would leave you to do the medical part." Gene spoke quietly to Mystique.

"Sounds fine. Now send Jon to the kitchen and raid it, get another go cart and I'll send a text as to where to meet me at. I am heading to where the action is. Use this pass to get through to me." Mystique spoke as she handed the personal pass to Gene.

Mystique took the key to the go cart and flipped out her phone as she got into the go cart.
She tapped in the number for the emergency assistance.

"This is Mystique Merriweather. I need to speak to someone about setting up an emergency clinic. I have supplies to be used." she spoke into the cell phone.

The man stood amongst the chaos of screaming people at a complete loss for what he should be doing. He was a technical analyst not a security guard. He was so worried that he was sweating. He was trying to organize people as they came in. He'd been given the layout of the base camp. When he'd arrived the market had been shutting down. People clearing their storefronts to allow medics to store their supplies within the shops so that the streets where free. A few tents had gone up to held with triage. He was to try and get the civilians to help out where they could, but people all wanted to know what was going on and he had no information to give. It was insane. Voices rang out everywhere around him.

When his phone rang the man jumped three feet into the air and let out an undignified shriek. He coughed to cover it up and pulled it out as the civs nearest him burst into laughter. "Yes?" he barked rather rudely into the phone. He listened to the female's voice and regretted his sharp tone.

"That'd be me, though really wish it wasn't. When you get here look for the tents. There on the North slope protected by the large bridges that are over them. You can set up there. Or ask a shop owner for the use of their shop. They've been giving their shops to be used a distribution sites and storage for sensitive material," he said in a much nicer tone. "I'll send out your name to the other medics here and you can just touch base with them."

Despite Zir's tone Darin knew he wasn't really angry, especially since he had noticed the small smile at first. He also noticed the reaction when he had said the name and realized he might have gotten it wrong. He was bad at names sometimes but would never admit that he hadn't done it on purpose. He smirked. "Escaping eh, is that the best idea there is, it doesn't seem to be a lot of fun. No profit in it either."

"What the hell, captain! You don't mean you want to stay and fight do you? I don't see how we could profit from that either or how it might be more fun." Siara asked slightly panicked. She hadn't been with Darin more than a year but she still didn't really understand him. He often seemed to do things for no reason at all but somehow, so far things had always worked out. Still, she couldn't help but wonder how much longer his luck would hold out.

"Do I? Well perhaps someone should contact someone who might be in charge or who could make a deal with us to see if we could profit by staying, hmmm?" He raised a brow at her.

She slapped her forehead with her hand and sighed "I suppose you mean I should find out who to contact then hmm. Sure sure, we might end up dead but what's that matter." She huffed and walked over to her station on the bridge and sat down starting to type on the console.

He grinned and sat back as he watched her leave and turned back to Zir. "So do you really think we should leave, as well?"

"Thank you for the information, Sir. I'll be there as quick as I can be." she then hung up and frowned at the phone. It was going to be a rough trip and she will not like it at all. There was screaming panicking and crying at that point. She shook her head sadly about how people act in an emergency situation. She texted to Gene

~We will meet at the front of this building, lower level. We will be bringing in reinforcements to help quiet civilians. There is mass chaos out there. Set up a chain of emergency personal ASAP.~

A simple reply text came back short and simple like Mystique liked it.

~Will do~

Mystique drove off to the center of complex and down the freight elevator then off to the front of the complex.
With in 15 minutes, she heard her personal commanders calling out their roll call. One....two.... three squads of 10 personal. The female squad will handle the children while squads 2 and 3 will handle crowd control.
She would get the farthest store fronts where she could set up for incoming, children, medical and reunion areas. She would hand pick a few to get names of adults and children so that families could be reunites.

Mystique got out of her go cart and stood before her own small personal army. She smiled as she spoke.
"For those of you who heeded my call to service, there will be a nice monetary incentive in your pay next period.
We will be going into an area of mass panic and chaos. Squad 1 will lead all children to a safe spot, Squads 2 and 3 will do crowd control. I need 4 volunteers from those squads to take the names of children and adults so that families can be reunited." a slight pause
"Thank you. You will follow my vehicle. Then Squad 1, 2 and lastly 3. Gene will be first in line. I will instruct where each of you will be informed by your commander. That is all" she turned crisply and went to her go cart. Once there she texted Gene with instructions of where to go and to send Jon back to drive so that she could devise a plan.

The first thing that Mystique did was to make a list of things to do for each commander and for her 4 volunteers. Pens and legal pads were taken out of her briefcase leaving her only 5 left for patients. That will have to do.
And they were off to the North slope where she would hand out her final instructions. On the way her personal directed people and the females gathered the children so that they could be corralled into a group and not trampled. Soon small voices were being lead in children's songs by the females of squid 1.

Zir'frah leaned back against the wall and crossed his arms his eyes narrowing further until barely a slit remained to show he hadn't fallen asleep standing up. He was thinking about the ship and the prospect of staying as they argued back and forth, When Darin returned his attention to him Zir grinned broadly showing his fangs.

"I say we bust hell on them Dar, we show em pirates don't run from that over zealot organization!" Zir said with a wicked laugh. THe prospect of a fight made his blood sing. He'd always hatted to run from a good fight, but this wasn't a fight like those he fought in bars. This was a space battle. If they left the ship here they'd loose her. This base was toast. There was naught no one could do to prevent an orbital bombing.

Yet maybe, just maybe they could make a profit to buy them some time to get their civs out. It was worth a check. "You still want more power and manual control? Might well be wise to boost the shields too..."

---

Eduian got one of the older woman who where with the soon growing crowd in the hallway. He stopped her and said softly to her "take the lead, lead them all the way down this hallway, the man at the end will make sure the way is clear of you. Just keep going down the hallway until you reach the exit. Don't stop for any reason. I'll be at the back so no one will be left behind," The woman nodded tears streaming freely down her face. Eduian gave her a light push towards the exit and felt his muscles relaxed slightly as the group began to filter out down the hallways. He watched as the man of his squad were leading more and more groups out of their rooms where they had likely hid as children will when frightened. The sweep was slow.

"Commander?" a call on his PD came he looked down it was the man he'd left in charge.

"Yes? and call me Eduian it's the last time I will tell you that," Eduian said frustrated at the honorific title the strange man had given him.

"yes Com... Eduian, sir. There is a woman named Mystique Merriweather who has begun to regain control of the chaos sir," the man said in a trembling stress filled voice. Eduian sighed, this man clearly wasn't much better then the civilians in a crisis. Well what had he really expected the man was a communication specialist not exactly a position where command level decisions were made.

"That's good, follow her lead," Eduian said. He'd seen some of her reports and had gotten a good feel that she was quite organized. "Patch her through if you need to. I'm evacuation the apartment levels. Your going to see an influx of children coming out. Try and keep them from being separated or worse swept up by the crowds."

Eduian felt the buzzing of another line trying to come through. He looked down and noticed it was the com of a ship called the Silver Dragon. A Pirate ship. He hung up without further words to the man he'd left outsize the evacuation zone and turned on the com to the pirate ship.

"This is Eduian what may I do to help you?" he said as the channel clicked open.

Mystique had finally arrived at the end of the shops where she felt that they would most likely be at the safest area and could yet be evacuated to tunnels underground if need be. She took over a block of stores and started assigning tasks to each squad.

"Squad 1- good job of keeping the children together. This is where I am stationing all children not reunited to parents. I will send milk and cookies in for the children. Have them use the bathroom and get them cleaned up as well as you can. I have some clothes but we will need to share them between the children. Here is a pad of paper and pen to write their names down and ages. If they don't know a description will do.

Squad 2- You will handle the parents as they come in. They will be upset and want to find their children. Have each parent tell you who their child is, a description and age. I will have coffee and snacks sent to this store. Also help with traffic control.

Squad 3- Your task will be to send all injured to this store. Those who need minor medical attention will have to wait. Those with heavy blooding, loss of body parts will be taken care of first.

Special Squad- You will run errands, guide people to where they need to go and when parents have been reunited with their children, send them to this largest store. Also send those who do not have children to this store. Be patient but firm.

Jon- you will give the Squads food and drink as well as a box of clothes to clean up with. Retrieve all clothes so that they can be reused after they are cleaned. Set out buckets for the towels and soap for cleaning. Use your brain and stay alert for emergency situations. Once you have given out the supplies, return here for further instructions.

Gene- follow me with medical supplies......." Mystique commanded.

Each squad left to do their tasks with quiet authority while Mystique walked into the store that was designated to be her med clinic. She began to arrange chairs along one wall for people to sit one. A counter was set up for supplies as Mystique quietly worked together to give relief and hope to those who came in for medical attention. The ones who could be released after their treatment were sent to the proper safe store as Mystique started to call them. She did not have proper medical supplies not the knowledge of how to set broken bones but she did know a broken bone when she saw one and she knew how to splint one. So far she did not have any severed limbs.

"Please send me some doctors to help me......" she mumbled under her breath as she rummage through another box for more bandages.

Despite his relaxed air he knew they didn't really have that much time but he wasn't the type to rush anything. "Well Kir, that is never a bad idea to increase sheilds but I am more curious about wether or not that new weapon we were planning is anywhere near completion or not? That will have a good deal to do wether what I am planning will...."

"Captain I've got someone on the line!" Siara called out, interrupting him.

"Ah yes, right on time. Please put them up on the screen."

The screen popped up so everyone could see the enlarged head of Eduin in front of them.
"Good day," he said with a small wave still looking relaxed as if he was just chatting with an old friend. "I was debating as to whether I might want to give this base a hand and thought you might have a bit of incentive to help out?" He raised a brow making an obvious motion of moving his thumb over his first two fingers in the universal sign for money.

He actually didn't mind just jumping into the battle for fun but knew his crew would get mad if he put them in danger for nothing. Still he didn't really have enough information.

"Of course the possible cost must cover the danger. I need to know more about exactly how many and what we are up against and it doesn't look like we have that much time to debate either."

Zir's gaze narrowed, he heard Darin's question, but was interrupted by Siara, as he returned to his station on the bridge. He flipped up his monitors and ignored the conversation taking place around him. He needed the core stats and system data information before he could answer anyways. His fingers worked quick and flew across his console as he did. He pulled up the information and read it ignoring what was going on around him.

---

Eduian looked back for a moment as the call loaded noting that the evacuation of this level was going much smoother then he would have thought. Everyone here was working together. He could pay attention to the call at hand. He returned his gaze just as he noticed the interior of a ship's bridge come into focus. He listened closely.

"I can't tell you much more then what you already know. The base is under attack from space. The only one who might have more information is Skar. As for money. Name a price. The Tearsia will see you well rewarded..." he paused mid sentence as he looked down towards his tela link and swore savagely. "We don't have time for this. The first strike will hit in 35 seconds. Whatever price you want it won't be an issue. If your going to help then I beg you fight. Keep their fighters off any of the passenger ships leaving port. There are children aboard those ships. Civilians. People who don't have anything to do with this war." Eduian didn't want to negotiate a money issue when he needed to keep getting everyone else out. But even one more ship could be the deciding factor in all this.

--

Zir looked up from his console. "It's ready boss," he said not elaborating, they both knew what he was talking about and the guy on the screen didn't need details. "I'll go prep it if your ready?" He said closing down his monitors and coming around to stand next to Darin. His eyes alight with mirth. This was going to be a good fight.

--

Aboard the Coalition ships. The large star class vessel was just getting into position to target the base from orbit. It was launching fighters from both sides and the large shields concealing the ion canon supper weapon was being drawn back as the man looked up to see his commander standing right beside him.

"Is she ready?" The commander asked.

"Just getting into position now. Systems are coming online and in the green. She's charging up sir. 35 seconds till first strike. Shall I put up the counter?" the man asked his fingers flying across the keys and the screens before him filled with data.

"Do it," the commander replied. The man shot the counter onto the screen. 35... 34... 33... The commander smiled. "Tell me technical officer Riam, are you worried about these people down there?" he asked the man next to him who'd put up the time. There was sweat on the man's brow.

"There's civilians down there sir. Lifeforms not designated as military..." the man began.

"They are inside a known allegiance that is against the Coalition and her goals. They are collateral damage." The commander said in a cutting tone. 14... 13... 12... Silence decended upon the whole command room of the main ship as the fighters entered orbit. 5... 4... 3... 2... "bring the weapon online. Select targe Zulu-Alpha-Zone-9-Section-Delta. Set to mach charge."

The tech entered the coordinates it was the left outer most section of the base. The most occupied area of the base and most heavily shielded. "ready," the man said.

"Fire," The commander said. The tech entered the firing sequence.

The whole base felt the impact of the first hit. The damage was only to the upper three levels, those mostly empty. But the result shockwave could be felt through the whole base as a warning. The next hit would be in exactly 1 minute.

(note the speaking in this is translated)

the sound of the door suddenly and abruptly ended the admirals sleep and startled the other officers in mid presentation as lieutenant chiklik entered the briefing room. "ah lieutenant, please everyone lave this is a...private matter"
colonel renn"but surely you can....never mind sir understood sir" the colonel grabed his papers and left with the other officers as chiklik stepped towards the admiral.
"you asked for me sir? something about a urgent mission?"chiklik or seamus in english
"yes i have.....a ship for you now here is the actual mission...oh and congratulations...captain..." the admiral says before briefing and sending the lieutenant off

Later on the IDS joker's folly experimental capital ship

the door opens as the bridge guard suddenly stand at attention" captain on deck!"
chiklik smiles slightly with pride" at ease gentleman ..helm take us out of dry dock and commence...warp" chiklik smiles a bit as a he finishes the last word something he thought his species would never accomplish outside of there home system perhaps..perhaps after this test if nothing goes wrong ginoyains will finally leave their nests and explore.

a hour and a half later the ship is pulled out of warp when chiklik sees a massive object in front of the ship no...it was another ship. but to late still approaching at a alarming speed from the previous speeds of warp the folly crashed directly into the side of the ship as the two hulls screeched sharply for what seemed like ages but wasn't and yet was a full 2 minutes as chiklik began to swear in pain unaware of the piece of the other ship that now floated away detached.
chiklik smiled a bit in his thoughts"well i suppose that is technically can be called first contact"

"35 seconds, damn!" he stood all appearance of casualness gone and in it's place was now a very stern looking and imposing form with a straight back and determined gaze. "I will get on that just don't forget my reward when this is over." He motioned for Siara to end the link and turned to Zir.

"Prepare it immediately. Get the ship ready to launch immediately and go to red alert!" He ordered and everyone rushed into action, the ship quickly ready to lift off. "We won't make it in time!"

Just after he said that and the ship had just started to lift off they all felt the impact of the first shot. Since the ship had lifted off they mostly just felt a strong vibration briefly. "Get us out and closer to the enemy ships I want a visual on the weapon that attacked the base. Try to keep us out of site for now though if possible."

He turned again to Zir, "How long before we can fire?"

Zir cursed in Riozan for several minutes as he rushed towards the monitors once more flicking them up and prepping their shields, engines and dampeners for the upcoming mayhem. He finished quickly just as Darin was giving orders to launch the ship. He headed for the door, activating his tela link as he went so he could continue to hear the captain. At the door he turned back and said "Once I get to the engine bay I can have it online in a minute. Takes two to get down there. So In three. I'm com hot so use the link." and with that he left the room.

It took a little under two minutes to reach the engine bay and get the shields boosted by crossfeeding their hyperdrive. He tapped the tela link in his ear, "Dar I crossed the Hyperdrive into the Shields and your baby's coming online in just a moment," he paused a moment as he started going over switches using his tentacles to hold levers in place as he ran though powerup of their new weapons system. "First we won't be able to run in this configuration I'll need fifteen minutes warning. Second don't blow us up!"

With that Zir turned on the weapons system and stepped away swearing again. "your online and I'm feeding you the controls. In three," he flicked open his wall monitor and started activating remote control of the weapon, "your up. Good luck and don't get me killed or I'll really hate you Dar."

--

Eduian felt the shockwave go through the base as the transmission cut out and the screaming intensified. Everyone ducked and tried to hide, but outside of a mild showering of debris raining down nothing really happened. He closed his eyes offering up a quick prayer of thanks as he shouted.

"GET EVERYONE MOVING, NOW" to be heard over the noise. People began to filter out of the hallways again more slowly this time. He needed to speed them up, but frightened children were hard to convince to move and everyone was doing everything they could. The adults were simply too few to make an impact in the noise. At least there were only a few left now. He could see the last guards corralling the little ones down into the main hallway from where he stood.

--

"Where ready Commander," the tech said as the last minute passed and the weapons full charge system reached firing capacity.

"Repeat last bombardment sequence," the commander said in a dry tone.

"Ready," the tech announced not even a second later.

"fire," the commander's word echoed and in that moment three things happened all at once. The weapon fired, an explosion of sound and static sounded across the control room and alarms began to go off and the ships system powered down. The weapon was offline and there was severe damage to it. The commander cursed and covered his ears with his hand. He shoved the startled gaping tech out of his way and called up the data shouting. "GET ME SOME INFORMATION ON WHATS GOING ON NOW" into the now deafening silence. The noise had lasted only for two minutes. The damage was extensive but the weapon could be fixed. "Get Lieutenant Grieves on this. I want my weapon back online. Deploy the fighters to take out the thread that just hit us hard and if someone doesn't get the smaller ion pulses online within the next ten minutes I am going to be executing the lot of you!"

There were resounding 'yes sir's' and running techs. The communication system was down. All of it. "I want a damage report in less then five minutes, or your first on the chopping block." This anger was evident and clear.

Meanwhile on the Osmaria base the strike took out the whole left section caving in that section of the base. It took out all of level E and a good section of level D. Eduian's section was caught in the damage from the failing structure.

"bring the shields on stat! we don't know what these xenos are going to do! I want defensive weapons only until further notice!" the newly made captain chiklik said before he continued to scream more orders while his crew began to follow caught unaware with the confrontation and then..there was the weapons fire, fighters suddenly swarmed from the ship as the defensive turrets all over the ship quickly began opening fire destroying whole squadrons while the ship brought its regular weapons online.
"well this seems to be going against what I've said about the universe not being out to kill us "chiklik sighed before yelling to his crew" ALL HANDS TO BATTLE STATIONS! I want every one of those fly's being scraped off the ship in a hour launch the drones a.s.a.p. and give me our capitol guns now! not yesterday people" the bridge, following his commands opens the hangars as tiny ships swarm out attaching to fighters and disabling major systems as well as heading towards the main ship and firing lasers in mass. thou weak, there combined strength begins to do abit on the ships shields just as actual fighter squadrons finnaly took off from the hangars the nest was stirred indeed
and the wasps where out for more then to merely sting.
